Digital aquaculture leverages advanced technologies and data-driven methods, providing substantial benefits over traditional aquaculture practices. Fish tracking, counting, and behaviour analysis are crucial components of digital aquaculture, which are essential for optimizing production efficiency, enhancing fish welfare, and improving resource management. Previous reviews have focused on single modalities, limiting their ability to address the diverse challenges encountered in these tasks comprehensively. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of the current state of aquaculture digital technologies, including vision-based, acoustic-based, and biosensor-based methods. We examine the advantages, limitations, and applications of these methods, highlighting recent advancements and identifying critical research gaps. The scarcity of comprehensive fish datasets and the lack of unified evaluation standards, which make it difficult to compare the performance of different technologies, are identified as major obstacles hindering progress in this field. To overcome current limitations and improve the accuracy, robustness, and efficiency of fish monitoring systems, we explore the potential of emerging technologies such as multimodal data fusion and deep learning. Additionally, we contribute to the field by providing a summary of existing datasets available for fish tracking, counting, and behaviour analysis. Future research directions are outlined, emphasizing the need for comprehensive datasets and evaluation standards to facilitate meaningful comparisons between technologies and promote their practical implementation in real-world aquaculture settings.

Text-to-image (T2I) diffusion models have shown exceptional capabilities in generating images that closely correspond to textual prompts. However, the advancement of T2I diffusion models presents significant risks, as the models could be exploited for malicious purposes, such as generating images with violence or nudity, or creating unauthorized portraits of public figures in inappropriate contexts. To mitigate these risks, concept removal methods have been proposed. These methods aim to modify diffusion models to prevent the generation of malicious and unwanted concepts. Despite these efforts, existing research faces several challenges: (1) a lack of consistent comparisons on a comprehensive dataset, (2) ineffective prompts in harmful and nudity concepts, (3) overlooked evaluation of the ability to generate the benign part within prompts containing malicious concepts. To address these gaps, we propose to benchmark the concept removal methods by introducing a new dataset, Six-CD, along with a novel evaluation metric. In this benchmark, we conduct a thorough evaluation of concept removals, with the experimental observations and discussions offering valuable insights in the field.

Nonreciprocal quantum transport effect is mainly governed by the symmetry breaking of the material systems and is gaining extensive attention in condensed matter physics. Realizing electrical switching of the polarity of the nonreciprocal transport without external magnetic field is essential to the development of nonreciprocal quantum devices. However, electrical switching of superconducting nonreciprocity remains yet to be achieved. Here, we report the observation of field-free electrical switching of nonreciprocal Ising superconductivity in Fe3GeTe2/NbSe2 van der Waals (vdW) heterostructure. By taking advantage of this electrically switchable superconducting nonreciprocity, we demonstrate a proof-of-concept nonreciprocal quantum neuronal transistor, which allows for implementing the XOR logic gate and faithfully emulating biological functionality of a cortical neuron in the brain. Our work provides a promising pathway to realize field-free and electrically switchable nonreciprocity of quantum transport and demonstrate its potential in exploring neuromorphic quantum devices with both functionality and performance beyond the traditional devices.

The transportation sector significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, highlighting the need to transition to Electric Vehicles (EVs) to reduce fossil fuel dependence and combat climate change. The US government has set ambitious targets for 2030, aiming for half of all new vehicles sold to be zero-emissions. Expanding EV charging stations is crucial for this transition, but social equity presents a significant challenge. The Justice40 program mandates that at least 40% of benefits be allocated to disadvantaged communities, ensuring they benefit from federal investments. Given the current concentration of EV ownership in affluent areas, merely installing charging stations in disadvantaged neighborhoods may not suffice. This article explores crowdfunding as a novel method to finance EV charging infrastructure, engaging, and empowering underserved communities. The paper concludes with a hypothetical case showing financing benefits for disadvantaged communities, exploring crowdfunding variations, and scaling to develop equitable EV charging networks.

Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have demonstrated significant application potential in various fields. However, GNNs are still vulnerable to adversarial attacks. Numerous adversarial defense methods on GNNs are proposed to address the problem of adversarial attacks. However, these methods can only serve as a defense before poisoning, but cannot repair poisoned GNN. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a method to repair poisoned GNN. In this paper, we address this gap by introducing the novel concept of model repair for GNNs. We propose a repair framework, Repairing Robustness of Graph Neural Networks via Machine Unlearning (GraphMU), which aims to fine-tune poisoned GNN to forget adversarial samples without the need for complete retraining. We also introduce a unlearning validation method to ensure that our approach effectively forget specified poisoned data. To evaluate the effectiveness of GraphMU, we explore three fine-tuned subgraph construction scenarios based on the available perturbation information: (i) Known Perturbation Ratios, (ii) Known Complete Knowledge of Perturbations, and (iii) Unknown any Knowledge of Perturbations. Our extensive experiments, conducted across four citation datasets and four adversarial attack scenarios, demonstrate that GraphMU can effectively restore the performance of poisoned GNN.

Graph neural networks (GNNs) have attracted widespread attention for their impressive capability of graph representation learning. However, the increasing prevalence of large-scale graphs presents a significant challenge for GNN training due to their computational demands, limiting the applicability of GNNs in various scenarios. In response to this challenge, graph condensation (GC) is proposed as a promising acceleration solution, focusing on generating an informative compact graph that enables efficient training of GNNs while retaining performance. Despite the potential to accelerate GNN training, existing GC methods overlook the quality of large training graphs during both the training and inference stages. They indiscriminately emulate the training graph distributions, making the condensed graphs susceptible to noises within the training graph and significantly impeding the application of GC in intricate real-world scenarios. To address this issue, we propose robust graph condensation (RobGC), a plug-and-play approach for GC to extend the robustness and applicability of condensed graphs in noisy graph structure environments. Specifically, RobGC leverages the condensed graph as a feedback signal to guide the denoising process on the original training graph. A label propagation-based alternating optimization strategy is in place for the condensation and denoising processes, contributing to the mutual purification of the condensed graph and training graph. Additionally, as a GC method designed for inductive graph inference, RobGC facilitates test-time graph denoising by leveraging the noise-free condensed graph to calibrate the structure of the test graph. Extensive experiments show that RobGC is compatible with various GC methods, significantly boosting their robustness under different types and levels of graph structural noises.

Generative models, especially text-to-image diffusion models, have significantly advanced in their ability to generate images, benefiting from enhanced architectures, increased computational power, and large-scale datasets. While the datasets play an important role, their protection has remained as an unsolved issue. Current protection strategies, such as watermarks and membership inference, are either in high poison rate which is detrimental to image quality or suffer from low accuracy and robustness. In this work, we introduce a novel approach, EnTruth, which Enhances Traceability of unauthorized dataset usage utilizing template memorization. By strategically incorporating the template memorization, EnTruth can trigger the specific behavior in unauthorized models as the evidence of infringement. Our method is the first to investigate the positive application of memorization and use it for copyright protection, which turns a curse into a blessing and offers a pioneering perspective for unauthorized usage detection in generative models. Comprehensive experiments are provided to demonstrate its effectiveness in terms of data-alteration rate, accuracy, robustness and generation quality.

Graph neural networks (GNNs) have achieved tremendous success, but recent studies have shown that GNNs are vulnerable to adversarial attacks, which significantly hinders their use in safety-critical scenarios. Therefore, the design of robust GNNs has attracted increasing attention. However, existing research has mainly been conducted via experimental trial and error, and thus far, there remains a lack of a comprehensive understanding of the vulnerability of GNNs. To address this limitation, we systematically investigate the adversarial robustness of GNNs by considering graph data patterns, model-specific factors, and the transferability of adversarial examples. Through extensive experiments, a set of principled guidelines is obtained for improving the adversarial robustness of GNNs, for example: (i) rather than highly regular graphs, the training graph data with diverse structural patterns is crucial for model robustness, which is consistent with the concept of adversarial training; (ii) the large model capacity of GNNs with sufficient training data has a positive effect on model robustness, and only a small percentage of neurons in GNNs are affected by adversarial attacks; (iii) adversarial transfer is not symmetric and the adversarial examples produced by the small-capacity model have stronger adversarial transferability. This work illuminates the vulnerabilities of GNNs and opens many promising avenues for designing robust GNNs.

Our study investigates the astronomical implications of Rastall gravity, particularly its behavior amidst a radiation field compared to Reissner-Nordstrom (RN) black holes. Our research delineates a crucial correlation between the dynamics of the accretion disk and the parameters Q and N_{\rm r}, which aptly reflect the influence of spacetime metrics on the disk's appearance. Elevated electric charge Q prompts contraction in the disk's orbit due to enhanced gravitational effects, while higher N_{\rm r} values lead to outward expansion, influenced by the radiation field's attributes. Interestingly, the charged black holes surrounded by radiation fields display distinct visual disparities from RN black holes. Brightness decreases and expansion occurs within the accretion disk's innermost stable circular orbit with rising N_{\rm r} values. Our study also reveals the process by which the accretion disk transitions from a conventional disk-like structure to a hat-like form at different observation angles, with the redshift effect gradually intensifying. Moreover, the results of the Rastall gravity radiation field we consider are consistent with the constraints of the host galaxy's gravitational lensing on the Rastall gravity parameters, enhancing the consistency between theoretical predictions and actual observations.

For web agents to be practically useful, they must adapt to the continuously evolving web environment characterized by frequent updates to user interfaces and content. However, most existing benchmarks only capture the static aspects of the web. To bridge this gap, we introduce WebCanvas, an innovative online evaluation framework for web agents that effectively addresses the dynamic nature of web interactions. WebCanvas contains three main components to facilitate realistic assessments: (1) A novel evaluation metric which reliably capture critical intermediate actions or states necessary for task completions while disregarding noise caused by insignificant events or changed web-elements. (2) A benchmark dataset called Mind2Web-Live, a refined version of original Mind2Web static dataset containing 542 tasks with 2439 intermediate evaluation states; (3) Lightweight and generalizable annotation tools and testing pipelines that enables the community to collect and maintain the high-quality, up-to-date dataset. Building on WebCanvas, we open-source an agent framework with extensible modules for reasoning, providing a foundation for the community to conduct online inference and evaluations. Our best-performing agent achieves a task success rate of 23.1% and a task completion rate of 48.8% on the Mind2Web-Live test set. Additionally, we analyze the performance discrepancies across various websites, domains, and experimental environments. Recently, large-scale trapped ion systems have been realized in experiments for quantum simulation and quantum computation. They are the simplest systems for dynamical stability and parametric resonance. In this model, the Mathieu equation plays the most fundamental role for us to understand the stability and instability of a single ion. In this work, we investigate the dynamics of trapped ions with the Coulomb interaction based on the Hamiltonian equation. We show that the many-body interaction will not influence the phase diagram for instability. Then, the dynamics of this model in the large damping limit will also be analytically calculated using few trapped ions. Furthermore, we find that in the presence of modulation, synchronization dynamics can be observed, showing an exchange of velocities between distant ions on the left side and on the right side of the trap. These dynamics resemble to that of the exchange of velocities in Newton's cradle for the collision of balls at the same time. These dynamics are independent of their initial conditions and the number of ions. As a unique feature of the interacting Mathieu equation, we hope this behavior, which leads to a quasi-periodic solution, can be measured in current experimental systems. Finally, we have also discussed the effect of anharmonic trapping potential, showing the desynchronization during the collision process. It is hopped that the dynamics in this many-body Mathieu equation with damping may find applications in quantum simulations. Recent advancements in multimodal foundation models have showcased impressive capabilities in understanding and reasoning with visual and textual information. Adapting these foundation models trained for general usage to specialized domains like biomedicine requires large-scale domain-specific instruction datasets. While existing works have explored curating such datasets automatically, the resultant datasets are not explicitly aligned with domain expertise. In this work, we propose a data-centric framework, Biomedical Visual Instruction Tuning with Clinician Preference Alignment (BioMed-VITAL), that incorporates clinician preferences into both stages of generating and selecting instruction data for tuning biomedical multimodal foundation models. First, during the generation stage, we prompt the GPT-4V generator with a diverse set of clinician-selected demonstrations for preference-aligned data candidate generation. Then, during the selection phase, we train a separate selection model, which explicitly distills clinician and policy-guided model preferences into a rating function to select high-quality data for medical instruction tuning. Results show that the model tuned with the instruction-following data from our method demonstrates a significant improvement in open visual chat (18.5% relatively) and medical VQA (win rate up to 81.73%). Radiation hazards associated with standard-dose positron emission tomography (SPET) images remain a concern, whereas the quality of low-dose PET (LPET) images fails to meet clinical requirements. Therefore, there is great interest in reconstructing SPET images from LPET images. However, prior studies focus solely on image data, neglecting vital complementary information from other modalities, e.g., patients' clinical tabular, resulting in compromised reconstruction with limited diagnostic utility. Moreover, they often overlook the semantic consistency between real SPET and reconstructed images, leading to distorted semantic contexts. To tackle these problems, we propose a novel Multi-modal Conditioned Adversarial Diffusion model (MCAD) to reconstruct SPET images from multi-modal inputs, including LPET images and clinical tabular. Specifically, our MCAD incorporates a Multi-modal conditional Encoder (Mc-Encoder) to extract multi-modal features, followed by a conditional diffusion process to blend noise with multi-modal features and gradually map blended features to the target SPET images. To balance multi-modal inputs, the Mc-Encoder embeds Optimal Multi-modal Transport co-Attention (OMTA) to narrow the heterogeneity gap between image and tabular while capturing their interactions, providing sufficient guidance for reconstruction. In addition, to mitigate semantic distortions, we introduce the Multi-Modal Masked Text Reconstruction (M3TRec), which leverages semantic knowledge extracted from denoised PET images to restore the masked clinical tabular, thereby compelling the network to maintain accurate semantics during reconstruction. To expedite the diffusion process, we further introduce an adversarial diffusive network with a reduced number of diffusion steps. As the significance of simulation in medical care and intervention continues to grow, it is anticipated that a simplified and low-cost platform can be set up to execute personalized diagnoses and treatments. 3D Slicer can not only perform medical image analysis and visualization but can also provide surgical navigation and surgical planning functions. In this paper, we have chosen 3D Slicer as our base platform and monocular cameras are used as sensors. Then, We used the neural radiance fields (NeRF) algorithm to complete the 3D model reconstruction of the human head. We compared the accuracy of the NeRF algorithm in generating 3D human head scenes and utilized the MarchingCube algorithm to generate corresponding 3D mesh models. The individual's head pose, obtained through single-camera vision, is transmitted in real-time to the scene created within 3D Slicer. The demonstrations presented in this paper include real-time synchronization of transformations between the human head model in the 3D Slicer scene and the detected head posture. Additionally, we tested a scene where a tool, marked with an ArUco Maker tracked by a single camera, synchronously points to the real-time transformation of the head posture. Identifying low-dimensional structure in high-dimensional probability measures is an essential pre-processing step for efficient sampling. We introduce a method for identifying and approximating a target measure $\pi$ as a perturbation of a given reference measure $\mu$ along a few significant directions of $\mathbb{R}^{d}$. The reference measure can be a Gaussian or a nonlinear transformation of a Gaussian, as commonly arising in generative modeling. Our method extends prior work on minimizing majorizations of the Kullback--Leibler divergence to identify optimal approximations within this class of measures. Our main contribution unveils a connection between the \emph{dimensional} logarithmic Sobolev inequality (LSI) and approximations with this ansatz. Specifically, when the target and reference are both Gaussian, we show that minimizing the dimensional LSI is equivalent to minimizing the KL divergence restricted to this ansatz. For general non-Gaussian measures, the dimensional LSI produces majorants that uniformly improve on previous majorants for gradient-based dimension reduction. We further demonstrate the applicability of this analysis to the squared Hellinger distance, where analogous reasoning shows that the dimensional Poincar\'e inequality offers improved bounds.

Power electronics, a critical component in modern power systems, face several challenges in control design, including model uncertainties, and lengthy and costly design cycles. This paper is aiming to propose a Large Language Models (LLMs) based multi-agent framework for objective-oriented control design in power electronics. The framework leverages the reasoning capabilities of LLMs and a multi-agent workflow to develop an efficient and autonomous controller design process. The LLM agent is able to understand and respond to high-level instructions in natural language, adapting its behavior based on the task's specific requirements and constraints from a practical implementation point of view. Automated cephalometric landmark detection is crucial in real-world orthodontic diagnosis. Current studies mainly focus on only adult subjects, neglecting the clinically crucial scenario presented by adolescents whose landmarks often exhibit significantly different appearances compared to adults. Hence, an open question arises about how to develop a unified and effective detection algorithm across various age groups, including adolescents and adults. In this paper, we propose CeLDA, the first work for Cephalometric Landmark Detection across Ages. Our method leverages a prototypical network for landmark detection by comparing image features with landmark prototypes. To tackle the appearance discrepancy of landmarks between age groups, we design new strategies for CeLDA to improve prototype alignment and obtain a holistic estimation of landmark prototypes from a large set of training images. Moreover, a novel prototype relation mining paradigm is introduced to exploit the anatomical relations between the landmark prototypes. Extensive experiments validate the superiority of CeLDA in detecting cephalometric landmarks on both adult and adolescent subjects. To our knowledge, this is the first effort toward developing a unified solution and dataset for cephalometric landmark detection across age groups. Utilizing Graphic User Interface (GUI) for human-computer interaction is essential for accessing a wide range of digital tools. Recent advancements in Vision Language Models (VLMs) highlight the compelling potential to develop versatile agents to help humans finish GUI navigation tasks. However, current VLMs are challenged in terms of fundamental abilities (OCR and grounding) and GUI knowledge (the functions and control methods of GUI elements), preventing them from becoming practical GUI agents. To solve these challenges, we contribute GUICourse, a suite of datasets to train visual-based GUI agents from general VLMs. First, we introduce the GUIEnv dataset to strengthen the OCR and grounding capabilities of VLMs. Then, we introduce the GUIAct and GUIChat datasets to enrich their knowledge of GUI components and interactions. Experiments demonstrate that our GUI agents have better performance on common GUI tasks than their baseline VLMs. Even the small-size GUI agent (with 3.1B parameters) can still work well on single-step and multi-step GUI tasks. Despite the rapid progress in the study of planar Hall effect (PHE) in recent years, all the previous works only showed that the PHE is connected to local geometric quantities, such as Berry curvature. Here, for the first time, we point out that the PHE in magnetic Weyl semimetals is directly related to a global quantity, namely, the Chern number of the Weyl point. This leads to a remarkable consequence that the PHE observation predicted here is robust against many system details, including the Fermi energy. The main difference between non-magnetic and magnetic Weyl points is that the latter breaks time-reversal symmetry T, thus generally possessing an energy tilt. Via semiclassical Boltzmann theory, we investigate the PHE in generic magnetic Weyl models with energy tilt and arbitrary Chern number. We find that by aligning the magnetic and electric fields in the same direction, the trace of the PHE conductivity contributed from Berry curvature and orbital moment is proportional to the Chern number and the energy tilt of the Weyl points, resulting in previously undiscovered quantized PHE plateau by varying Fermi energy. We further confirm the existence of PHE plateaus in a more realistic lattice model without T symmetry. By proposing a new quantized physical quantity, our work not only provides a new tool for extracting the topological character of the Weyl points but also suggests that the interplay between topology and magnetism can give rise to intriguing physics., Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures

A novel method to reconstruct the energy of hadronic showers in the CMS High Granularity Calorimeter (HGCAL) is presented. The HGCAL is a sampling calorimeter with very fine transverse and longitudinal granularity. The active media are silicon sensors and scintillator tiles readout by SiPMs and the absorbers are a combination of lead and Cu/CuW in the electromagnetic section, and steel in the hadronic section. The shower reconstruction method is based on graph neural networks and it makes use of a dynamic reduction network architecture. It is shown that the algorithm is able to capture and mitigate the main effects that normally hinder the reconstruction of hadronic showers using classical reconstruction methods, by compensating for fluctuations in the multiplicity, energy, and spatial distributions of the shower's constituents. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated using test beam data collected in 2018 prototype of the CMS HGCAL accompanied by a section of the CALICE AHCAL prototype. Existing vision-language models (VLMs) mostly rely on vision encoders to extract visual features followed by large language models (LLMs) for visual-language tasks. However, the vision encoders set a strong inductive bias in abstracting visual representation, e.g., resolution, aspect ratio, and semantic priors, which could impede the flexibility and efficiency of the VLMs. Training pure VLMs that accept the seamless vision and language inputs, i.e., without vision encoders, remains challenging and rarely explored. Empirical observations reveal that direct training without encoders results in slow convergence and large performance gaps. In this work, we bridge the gap between encoder-based and encoder-free models, and present a simple yet effective training recipe towards pure VLMs. Specifically, we unveil the key aspects of training encoder-free VLMs efficiently via thorough experiments: (1) Bridging vision-language representation inside one unified decoder; (2) Enhancing visual recognition capability via extra supervision. With these strategies, we launch EVE, an encoder-free vision-language model that can be trained and forwarded efficiently. Notably, solely utilizing 35M publicly accessible data, EVE can impressively rival the encoder-based VLMs of similar capacities across multiple vision-language benchmarks. It significantly outperforms the counterpart Fuyu-8B with mysterious training procedures and undisclosed training data. We believe that EVE provides a transparent and efficient route for developing a pure decoder-only architecture across modalities. Understanding alignment techniques begins with comprehending zero-shot generalization brought by instruction tuning, but little of the mechanism has been understood. Existing work has largely been confined to the task level, without considering that tasks are artificially defined and, to LLMs, merely consist of tokens and representations. This line of research has been limited to examining transfer between tasks from a task-pair perspective, with few studies focusing on understanding zero-shot generalization from the perspective of the data itself. To bridge this gap, we first demonstrate through multiple metrics that zero-shot generalization during instruction tuning happens very early. Next, we investigate the facilitation of zero-shot generalization from both data similarity and granularity perspectives, confirming that encountering highly similar and fine-grained training data earlier during instruction tuning, without the constraints of defined "tasks", enables better generalization. Finally, we propose a more grounded training data arrangement method, Test-centric Multi-turn Arrangement, and show its effectiveness in promoting continual learning and further loss reduction. For the first time, we show that zero-shot generalization during instruction tuning is a form of similarity-based generalization between training and test data at the instance level. The evolution of speech technology has been spurred by the rapid increase in dataset sizes. Traditional speech models generally depend on a large amount of labeled training data, which is scarce for low-resource languages. This paper presents GigaSpeech 2, a large-scale, multi-domain, multilingual speech recognition corpus. It is designed for low-resource languages and does not rely on paired speech and text data. GigaSpeech 2 comprises about 30,000 hours of automatically transcribed speech, including Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese, gathered from unlabeled YouTube videos. We also introduce an automated pipeline for data crawling, transcription, and label refinement. Specifically, this pipeline uses Whisper for initial transcription and TorchAudio for forced alignment, combined with multi-dimensional filtering for data quality assurance. A modified Noisy Student Training is developed to further refine flawed pseudo labels iteratively, thus enhancing model performance. Experimental results on our manually transcribed evaluation set and two public test sets from Common Voice and FLEURS confirm our corpus's high quality and broad applicability. Notably, ASR models trained on GigaSpeech 2 can reduce the word error rate for Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese on our challenging and realistic YouTube test set by 25% to 40% compared to the Whisper large-v3 model, with merely 10% model parameters. Furthermore, our ASR models trained on Gigaspeech 2 yield superior performance compared to commercial services. We believe that our newly introduced corpus and pipeline will open a new avenue for low-resource speech recognition and significantly facilitate research in this area., Comment: Under review

Combing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and wireless communication technologies has become one of the major technologies trends towards 2030. This includes using AI to improve the efficiency of the wireless transmission and supporting AI deployment with wireless networks. In this article, the latest progress of the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standards development is introduced. Concentrating on AI model distributed transfer and AI for Beam Management (BM) with wireless network, we introduce the latest studies and explain how the existing standards should be modified to incorporate the results from academia.

The prosperity of Decentralized Finance (DeFi) unveils underlying risks, with reported losses surpassing 3.2 billion USD between 2018 and 2022 due to vulnerabilities in Decentralized Applications (DApps). One significant threat is the Price Manipulation Attack (PMA) that alters asset prices during transaction execution. As a result, PMA accounts for over 50 million USD in losses. To address the urgent need for efficient PMA detection, this paper introduces a novel detection service, DeFiGuard, using Graph Neural Networks (GNNs). In this paper, we propose cash flow graphs with four distinct features, which capture the trading behaviors from transactions. Moreover, DeFiGuard integrates transaction parsing, graph construction, model training, and PMA detection. Evaluations on a dataset of 208 PMA and 2,080 non-PMA transactions show that DeFiGuard with GNN models outperforms the baseline in Accuracy, TPR, FPR, and AUC-ROC. The results of ablation studies suggest that the combination of the four proposed node features enhances DeFiGuard's efficacy. Moreover, DeFiGuard classifies transactions within 0.892 to 5.317 seconds, which provides sufficient time for the victims (DApps and users) to take action to rescue their vulnerable funds. The study of exciton-polarons has offered profound insights into the many-body interactions between bosonic excitations and their immersed Fermi sea within layered heterostructures. However, little is known about the properties of exciton polarons with interlayer interactions. Here through magneto-optical reflectance contrast measurements, we experimentally investigate interlayer Fermi polarons for 2s excitons in WSe$_2$/graphene heterostructures, where the excited exciton states (2s) in the WSe$_2$ layer are dressed by free charge carriers of the adjacent graphene layer in the Landau quantization regime. First, such a system enables an optical detection of integer and fractional quantum Hall states (e.g. $\nu=\pm1/3$, $\pm$2/3) of monolayer graphene. Furthermore, we observe that the 2s state evolves into two distinct branches, denoted as attractive and repulsive polarons, when graphene is doped out of the incompressible quantum Hall gaps. Mesoscale convective systems (MCSs) are crucial components of the hydrological cycle and often produce flash floods. Given their impact, it is crucial to understand how they will change under a warming climate. This study uses a satellite- and radar-based MCS tracking algorithm on convection-permitting climate model simulations and examines changes in MCS properties and precipitation structures between historical and future simulations. An underestimation in MCS total precipitation is evident in historical simulation compared to observations, due to model's depiction of MCS precipitation area and summertime occurrence frequency. Under pseudo-global warming, increases in MCS frequency and total warm season precipitation are observed, most notably in the southern U.S. The precipitation intensity and precipitating area generated by future MCSs also rises and results in an increase in precipitation volume. MCS precipitation structures are further classified into convective core and stratiform regions to understand how change in these structures contributes to future rainfall changes. In a warmer climate, the stratiform region demonstrates minimal change in size, but increases in mean precipitation rate and mean maximum precipitation rate by 15% and 29% are noted, respectively. A more robust future response is observed in the convective core region, with its size, mean precipitation rate and mean maximum precipitation rate increasing significantly by 24%, 37% and 42%, respectively. Finally, by examining the environmental properties of MCS initial condition, future intensification of convective rain may be attributed to a combined effect of substantial increases in atmospheric instability and moisture availability.

We propose a novel one-pass multiple ASR systems joint compression and quantization approach using an all-in-one neural model. A single compression cycle allows multiple nested systems with varying Encoder depths, widths, and quantization precision settings to be simultaneously constructed without the need to train and store individual target systems separately. Experiments consistently demonstrate the multiple ASR systems compressed in a single all-in-one model produced a word error rate (WER) comparable to, or lower by up to 1.01\% absolute (6.98\% relative) than individually trained systems of equal complexity. A 3.4x overall system compression and training time speed-up was achieved. Maximum model size compression ratios of 12.8x and 3.93x were obtained over the baseline Switchboard-300hr Conformer and LibriSpeech-100hr fine-tuned wav2vec2.0 models, respectively, incurring no statistically significant WER increase., Comment: Accepted by Interspeech 2024

The growing availability of well-organized Electronic Health Records (EHR) data has enabled the development of various machine learning models towards disease risk prediction. However, existing risk prediction methods overlook the heterogeneity of complex diseases, failing to model the potential disease subtypes regarding their corresponding patient visits and clinical concept subgroups. In this work, we introduce TACCO, a novel framework that jointly discovers clusters of clinical concepts and patient visits based on a hypergraph modeling of EHR data. Specifically, we develop a novel self-supervised co-clustering framework that can be guided by the risk prediction task of specific diseases. Furthermore, we enhance the hypergraph model of EHR data with textual embeddings and enforce the alignment between the clusters of clinical concepts and patient visits through a contrastive objective. Comprehensive experiments conducted on the public MIMIC-III dataset and Emory internal CRADLE dataset over the downstream clinical tasks of phenotype classification and cardiovascular risk prediction demonstrate an average 31.25% performance improvement compared to traditional ML baselines and a 5.26% improvement on top of the vanilla hypergraph model without our co-clustering mechanism. In-depth model analysis, clustering results analysis, and clinical case studies further validate the improved utilities and insightful interpretations delivered by TACCO. This paper proposes a novel non-autoregressive (NAR) block-based Attention Mask Decoder (AMD) that flexibly balances performance-efficiency trade-offs for Conformer ASR systems. AMD performs parallel NAR inference within contiguous blocks of output labels that are concealed using attention masks, while conducting left-to-right AR prediction and history context amalgamation between blocks. A beam search algorithm is designed to leverage a dynamic fusion of CTC, AR Decoder, and AMD probabilities. Experiments on the LibriSpeech-100hr corpus suggest the tripartite Decoder incorporating the AMD module produces a maximum decoding speed-up ratio of 1.73x over the baseline CTC+AR decoding, while incurring no statistically significant word error rate (WER) increase on the test sets. DIffuse X-ray Explorer (DIXE) is a proposed high-resolution X-ray spectroscopic sky surveyor on the China Space Station (CSS). DIXE will focus on studying hot baryons in the Milky Way. Galactic hot baryons like the X-ray emitting Milky Way halo and eROSITA bubbles are best observed in the sky survey mode with a large field of view. DIXE will take advantage of the orbital motion of the CSS to scan a large fraction of the sky. High-resolution X-ray spectroscopy, enabled by superconducting microcalorimeters based on the transition-edge sensor (TES) technology, will probe the physical properties (e.g., temperature, density, elemental abundances, kinematics) of the Galactic hot baryons. This will complement the high-resolution imaging data obtained with the eROSITA mission. Here we present the preliminary design of DIXE. The payload consists mainly of a detector assembly and a cryogenic cooling system. The key components of the detector assembly are a microcalorimeter array and frequency-domain multiplexing readout electronics. Using a sample of $(10087\pm 44)\times10^{6}$ $J/\psi$ events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we search for the decay $X(1870)\to K^+ K^-\eta$ via the $J/\psi\to \omega K^+ K^- \eta$ process for the first time. No significant $X(1870)$ signal is observed. The upper limit on the branching fraction of the decay $ J/\psi\to \omega X(1870) \to\omega K^+ K^- \eta$ is determined to be $9.55\times 10^{-7}$ at the $90\%$ confidence level. In addition, the branching faction $B(J/\psi\to\omega K^+ K^- \eta)$ is measured to be $(3.33\pm0.02(\rm{stat.})\pm 0.12(\rm{syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$.

We study duality defects in 2+1d theories with $\bZ^{(0)}_N\times\bZ^{(1)}_N$ global symmetry and trivial mixed 't Hooft anomaly. By gauging these symmetries simultaneously in half of the spacetime, we define duality defects for theories that are self-dual under gauging. We calculate the fusion rules involving duality defects and show that they obey a fusion 2-category. We also construct the corresponding symmetry topological field theory, a four-dimensional BF theory on a slab which realizes the duality defects on the boundary upon shrinking the interval. Furthermore, we provide explicit examples of such duality defects in $U(1)\times U(1)$ gauge theories and in more general product theories. Finally, we find duality defects in non-Lagrangian theories obtained by compactification of 6d $\cN=(2,0)$ SCFTs of type $A_{N-1}$ on various three-manifolds.

Current multimodal misinformation detection (MMD) methods often assume a single source and type of forgery for each sample, which is insufficient for real-world scenarios where multiple forgery sources coexist. The lack of a benchmark for mixed-source misinformation has hindered progress in this field. To address this, we introduce MMFakeBench, the first comprehensive benchmark for mixed-source MMD. MMFakeBench includes 3 critical sources: textual veracity distortion, visual veracity distortion, and cross-modal consistency distortion, along with 12 sub-categories of misinformation forgery types. We further conduct an extensive evaluation of 6 prevalent detection methods and 15 large vision-language models (LVLMs) on MMFakeBench under a zero-shot setting. The results indicate that current methods struggle under this challenging and realistic mixed-source MMD setting. Additionally, we propose an innovative unified framework, which integrates rationales, actions, and tool-use capabilities of LVLM agents, significantly enhancing accuracy and generalization. Time series data are ubiquitous across a wide range of real-world domains. While real-world time series analysis (TSA) requires human experts to integrate numerical series data with multimodal domain-specific knowledge, most existing TSA models rely solely on numerical data, overlooking the significance of information beyond numerical series. This oversight is due to the untapped potential of textual series data and the absence of a comprehensive, high-quality multimodal dataset. To overcome this obstacle, we introduce Time-MMD, the first multi-domain, multimodal time series dataset covering 9 primary data domains. Time-MMD ensures fine-grained modality alignment, eliminates data contamination, and provides high usability. Additionally, we develop MM-TSFlib, the first multimodal time-series forecasting (TSF) library, seamlessly pipelining multimodal TSF evaluations based on Time-MMD for in-depth analyses. Extensive experiments conducted on Time-MMD through MM-TSFlib demonstrate significant performance enhancements by extending unimodal TSF to multimodality, evidenced by over 15% mean squared error reduction in general, and up to 40% in domains with rich textual data. More importantly, our datasets and library revolutionize broader applications, impacts, research topics to advance TSA. Image-text interleaved data, consisting of multiple images and texts arranged in a natural document format, aligns with the presentation paradigm of internet data and closely resembles human reading habits. Recent studies have shown that such data aids multimodal in-context learning and maintains the capabilities of large language models during multimodal fine-tuning. However, the limited scale and diversity of current image-text interleaved data restrict the development of multimodal large language models. In this paper, we introduce OmniCorpus, a 10 billion-scale image-text interleaved dataset. Using an efficient data engine, we filter and extract large-scale high-quality documents, which contain 8.6 billion images and 1,696 billion text tokens. Compared to counterparts (e.g., MMC4, OBELICS), our dataset 1) has 15 times larger scales while maintaining good data quality; 2) features more diverse sources, including both English and non-English websites as well as video-centric websites; 3) is more flexible, easily degradable from an image-text interleaved format to pure text corpus and image-text pairs. Through comprehensive analysis and experiments, we validate the quality, usability, and effectiveness of the proposed dataset. Based on $2.7 \times 10^9~\psi(3686)$ decays collected with the BESIII detector, the radiative decay $\psi(3686)\to\gamma2(\pi^{+}\pi^{-})\eta$ is investigated to measure properties of S- and P-wave charmonium states. The branching fraction of the decay $\eta_{c}(1S) \to 2(\pi^{+}\pi^{-})\eta$, which is found to have a strong dependence on the interference pattern between $\eta_c(1S)$ and non-$\eta_c(1S)$ processes, is measured in both destructive and constructive interference scenarios for the first time. The mass and width of the $\eta_{c}(1S)$ are measured to be $M=(2984.14 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.38)$ MeV/$c^{2}$ and $\Gamma=(28.82 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.82)$ MeV, respectively. Clear signals for the decays of the $\chi_{cJ}(J=0,1,2)$ and the $\eta_{c}(2S)$ to $2(\pi^{+}\pi^{-})\eta$ are also observed for the first time, and the corresponding branching fractions are measured. The ratio of the branching fractions between the $\eta_{c}(2S)$ and $\eta_{c}(1S)$ decays is significantly lower than the theoretical prediction, which might suggest different dynamics in their decays.

Near-field beam training is essential for acquiring channel state information in 6G extremely large-scale multiple input multiple output (XL-MIMO) systems. To achieve low-overhead beam training, existing method has been proposed to leverage the near-field beam split effect, which deploys true-time-delay arrays to simultaneously search multiple angles of the entire angular range in a distance ring with a single pilot. However, the method still requires exhaustive search in the distance domain, which limits its efficiency. To address the problem, we propose a distance-dependent beam-split-based beam training method to further reduce the training overheads. Specifically, we first reveal the new phenomenon of distance-dependent beam split, where by manipulating the configurations of time-delay and phase-shift, beams at different frequencies can simultaneously scan the angular domain in multiple distance rings. Leveraging the phenomenon, we propose a near-field beam training method where both different angles and distances can simultaneously be searched in one time slot. Thus, a few pilots are capable of covering the whole angle-distance space for wideband XL-MIMO. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulations are also displayed to verify the superiority of the proposed method on beamforming gain and training overhead.

Temporal logics are powerful tools that are widely used for the synthesis and verification of reactive systems. The recent progress on Large Language Models (LLMs) has the potential to make the process of writing such specifications more accessible. However, writing specifications in temporal logics remains challenging for all but the most expert users. A key question in using LLMs for temporal logic specification engineering is to understand what kind of guidance is most helpful to the LLM and the users to easily produce specifications. Looking specifically at the problem of reactive program synthesis, we explore the impact of providing an LLM with guidance on the separation of control and data--making explicit for the LLM what functionality is relevant for the specification, and treating the remaining functionality as an implementation detail for a series of pre-defined functions and predicates. We present a benchmark set and find that this separation of concerns improves specification generation. Our benchmark provides a test set against which to verify future work in LLM generation of temporal logic specifications.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a crucial role in medical field and has the potential to revolutionize healthcare practices. However, the success of AI models and their impacts hinge on the synergy between AI and medical specialists, with clinicians assuming a dominant role. Unfortunately, the intricate dynamics and interactions between AI and clinicians remain undiscovered and thus hinder AI from being translated into medical practice. To address this gap, we have curated a groundbreaking database called AI.vs.Clinician. This database is the first of its kind for studying the interactions between AI and clinicians. It derives from 7,500 collaborative diagnosis records on a life-threatening medical emergency -- Sepsis -- from 14 medical centers across China. For the patient cohorts well-chosen from MIMIC databases, the AI-related information comprises the model property, feature input, diagnosis decision, and inferred probabilities of sepsis onset presently and within next three hours. The clinician-related information includes the viewed examination data and sequence, viewed time, preliminary and final diagnosis decisions with or without AI assistance, and recommended treatment., Comment: 12 pages

Metallic hydrogen, existing in remarkably extreme environments, was predicted to exhibit long-sought room-temperature superconductivity. Although the superconductivity of metallic hydrogen has not been confirmed experimentally, superconductivity of hydrogen in hydrides was recently discovered with remarkably high critical temperature as theoretically predicted. In recent years, theoretical simulations have become a new paradigm for material science, especially exploration of material at extreme pressure. As the typical high-pressure material, metallic hydrogen has been providing a fertile playground for advanced simulations for long time. Simulations not only provide the substitute of experiments for hydrogen at high-pressure, but also encouraged the discovery of almost all the experimentally discovered superconducting hydrides with the record high superconducting transition temperature. This work reviews recent progress in hydrogen and hydrides under extreme pressure, focusing on phase diagram, structures and the long-sought goal of high-temperature superconductivity. Large language models (LLMs) exhibit outstanding performance in machine translation via in-context learning. In contrast to sentence-level translation, document-level translation (DOCMT) by LLMs based on in-context learning faces two major challenges: firstly, document translations generated by LLMs are often incoherent; secondly, the length of demonstration for in-context learning is usually limited. To address these issues, we propose a Context-Aware Prompting method (CAP), which enables LLMs to generate more accurate, cohesive, and coherent translations via in-context learning. CAP takes into account multi-level attention, selects the most relevant sentences to the current one as context, and then generates a summary from these collected sentences. Subsequently, sentences most similar to the summary are retrieved from the datastore as demonstrations, which effectively guide LLMs in generating cohesive and coherent translations. In health, most large language model (LLM) research has focused on clinical tasks. However, mobile and wearable devices, which are rarely integrated into such tasks, provide rich, longitudinal data for personal health monitoring. Here we present Personal Health Large Language Model (PH-LLM), fine-tuned from Gemini for understanding and reasoning over numerical time-series personal health data. We created and curated three datasets that test 1) production of personalized insights and recommendations from sleep patterns, physical activity, and physiological responses, 2) expert domain knowledge, and 3) prediction of self-reported sleep outcomes. For the first task we designed 857 case studies in collaboration with domain experts to assess real-world scenarios in sleep and fitness. Through comprehensive evaluation of domain-specific rubrics, we observed that Gemini Ultra 1.0 and PH-LLM are not statistically different from expert performance in fitness and, while experts remain superior for sleep, fine-tuning PH-LLM provided significant improvements in using relevant domain knowledge and personalizing information for sleep insights. We evaluated PH-LLM domain knowledge using multiple choice sleep medicine and fitness examinations. PH-LLM achieved 79% on sleep and 88% on fitness, exceeding average scores from a sample of human experts. Finally, we trained PH-LLM to predict self-reported sleep quality outcomes from textual and multimodal encoding representations of wearable data, and demonstrate that multimodal encoding is required to match performance of specialized discriminative models. Although further development and evaluation are necessary in the safety-critical personal health domain, these results demonstrate both the broad knowledge and capabilities of Gemini models and the benefit of contextualizing physiological data for personal health applications as done with PH-LLM., Comment: 72 pages

We present measurements of the branching fractions of eight $\overline B{}^0\to D^{(*)+} K^- K^{(*)0}_{(S)}$, $B^{-}\to D^{(*)0} K^- K^{(*)0}_{(S)}$ decay channels. The results are based on data from SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance collected with the Belle II detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $362~\text{fb}^{-1}$. The event yields are extracted from fits to the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ meson energy, and are efficiency-corrected as a function of $m(K^-K^{(*)0}_{(S)})$ and $m(D^{(*)}K^{(*)0}_{(S)})$ in order to avoid dependence on the decay model. These results include the first observation of $\overline B{}^0\to D^+K^-K_S^0$, $B^-\to D^{*0}K^-K_S^0$, and $\overline B{}^0\to D^{*+}K^-K_S^0$ decays and a significant improvement in the precision of the other channels compared to previous measurements. The helicity-angle distributions and the invariant mass distributions of the $K^- K^{(*)0}_{(S)}$ systems are compatible with quasi-two-body decays via a resonant transition with spin-parity $J^P=1^-$ for the $K^-K_S^0$ systems and $J^P= 1^+$ for the $K^-K^{*0}$ systems. The $J/\psi, \psi(3686) \to \Sigma^0 \bar{\Sigma}^{0}$ processes and subsequent decays are studied using the world's largest $J/\psi$ and $\psi(3686)$ data samples collected with the BESIII detector. The strong-$CP$ symmetry is tested in the decays of the $\Sigma^0$ hyperons for the first time by measuring the decay parameters, $\alpha_{\Sigma^0} = -0.0017 \pm 0.0021 \pm 0.0018$ and $\bar{\alpha}_{\Sigma^0} = 0.0021 \pm 0.0020 \pm 0.0022$. The weak-$CP$ test is performed in the subsequent decays of their daughter particles $\Lambda$ and $\bar{\Lambda}$. Also for the first time, the transverse polarizations of the $\Sigma^0$ hyperons in $J/\psi$ and $\psi(3686)$ decays are observed with opposite directions, and the ratios between the S-wave and D-wave contributions of the $J/\psi, \psi(3686) \to \Sigma^0 \bar{\Sigma}^{0}$ decays are obtained. These results are crucial to understand the decay dynamics of the charmonium states and the production mechanism of the $\Sigma^0-\bar{\Sigma}^0$ pairs.

Graph machine learning (GML) is effective in many business applications. However, making GML easy to use and applicable to industry applications with massive datasets remain challenging. We developed GraphStorm, which provides an end-to-end solution for scalable graph construction, graph model training and inference. GraphStorm has the following desirable properties: (a) Easy to use: it can perform graph construction and model training and inference with just a single command; (b) Expert-friendly: GraphStorm contains many advanced GML modeling techniques to handle complex graph data and improve model performance; (c) Scalable: every component in GraphStorm can operate on graphs with billions of nodes and can scale model training and inference to different hardware without changing any code. The intrinsic magnetic order, large topological-magnetic gap and rich topological phases make MnBi2Te4 a wonderful platform to study exotic topological quantum states such as axion insulator and Chern insulator. To realize and manipulate these topological phases in a MnBi2Te4 thin film, precise manipulation of the electric field across the film is essential, which requires a dual-gate structure. In this work, we achieve dual-gate tuning of MnBi2Te4 thin films grown with molecular beam epitaxy on SrTiO3(111) substrates by applying the substrate and an AlOx layer as the gate dielectrics of bottom and top gates, respectively. Under magnetic field of 9T and temperature of 20 mK, the Hall and longitudinal resistivities of the films show inversed gate-voltage dependence, for both top- and bottom-gates, signifying the existence of the dissipationless edge state contributed by Chern insulator phase in the ferromagnetic configuration. The maximum of the Hall resistivity only reaches 0.8 h/e2, even with dual-gate tuning, probably due to the high density of bulk carriers introduced by secondary phases. In the antiferromagnetic state under zero magnetic field, the films show normal insulator behavior. The non-Abelian two-dimensional Toda lattice and matrix sine-Gordon equations with self-consistent sources are established and solved. Two families of quasideterminant solutions are presented for the non-Abelian two-dimensional Toda lattice with self-consistent sources. By employing periodic and quasi-periodic reductions, a matrix sine-Gordon equation with self-consistent sources is constructed for the first time, for which exact solutions in terms of quasideterminants are derived.

How to quickly solve the problem of high-order unconstrained binary optimization (HUBO) has attracted much attention, because of its importance and wide-range applications. Here we implement HUBO using a quantum adiabatic algorithm and achieve algorithmic speedup by introducing gauge symmetry into the algorithm. Gauge symmetry enforces the state to be in the instantaneous ground state, further speeding up the computation. Specifically we map the HUBO problem to quantum Z2 lattice gauge theory defined on the dual graph. The gauge operators are found by using the closed-loop-search algorithm, and subsequently the speedup scheme with gauge symmetry for HUBO problem is developed. As an example demonstrated in the classical computers, we present the mathematical formulation of our speedup scheme and propose the so-called gauged local annealing (gLQA) , which is the local quantum annealing (LQA) protected by the gauge symmetry. We then use gLQA to calculate the ground state energy of the Z2 gauge theory. gLQA reduces the computational time by one order of magnitude from that of LQA., Comment: 8 pages
