251. Global prevalence and risk factors of Cryptosporidium infection in Equus: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Abstract

IntoductionCryptosporidiosis is a zoonotic disease caused by Cryptosporidium infection with the main symptom of diarrhea. The present study performed a metaanalysis to determine the global prevalence of Cryptosporidium in Equus animals.MethodsData collection was carried out using Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), VIP Chinese journal database (VIP), WanFang Data, PubMed, and ScienceDirect databases, with 35 articles published before 2021 being included in this systematic analysis. This study analyzed the research data through subgroup analysis and univariate regression analysis to reveal the factors leading to high prevalence. We applied a random effects model (REM) to the metadata.ResultsThe total prevalence rate of Cryptosporidium in Equus was estimated to be 7.59% from the selected articles. The prevalence of Cryptosporidium in female Equus was 2.60%. The prevalence of Cryptosporidium in Equus under 1-year-old was 11.06%, which was higher than that of Equus over 1-year-old (2.52%). In the experimental method groups, the positive rate detected by microscopy was the highest (10.52%). The highest Cryptosporidium prevalence was found in scale breeding Equus (7.86%). The horses had the lowest Cryptosporidium prevalence (7.32%) among host groups. C. muris was the most frequently detected genotype in the samples (53.55%). In the groups of geographical factors, the prevalence rate of Cryptosporidium in Equus was higher in regions with low altitude (6.88%), rainy (15.63%), humid (22.69%), and tropical climates (16.46%).DiscussionThe search strategy use of five databases might have caused the omission of some researches. This metaanalysis systematically presented the global prevalence and potential risk factors of Cryptosporidium infection in Equus. The farmers should strengthen the management of young and female Equus animals, improve water filtration systems, reduce stocking densities, and harmless treatment of livestock manure.

Abstract

In conventional thermodynamics, it is widely acknowledged that the realization of an isothermal process for a system requires a quasi-static controlling protocol. Here we propose and design a strategy to realize a finite-rate isothermal transition from an equilibrium state to another one with same temperature, which is named shortcut to isothermality~(STI). By using STI, we unexpectedly derive three nonequilibrium work relations, including an identity between the free energy difference and the mean work due to the potential of the original system, a generalized Jarzynski equality, and the inverse relationship between the irreversible work and the total driving time. We numerically confirm these three relations by considering the motion of a Brownian particle trapped in a harmonic potential and dragged by a time-dependent force., Comment: accepted by Phys. Rev. Abstract

This paper firstly show that 2 Dimensional Intelligent Driver Model (Jiang et al., PloS one, 9(4), e94351, 2014) is not able to replicate the synchronized traffic flow. Then we propose an improved model by considering the difference between the driving behaviors at high speeds and that at low speeds. Simulations show that the improved model can reproduce the phase transition from synchronized flow to wide moving jams, the spatiotemporal patterns of traffic flow induced by traffic bottleneck, and the evolution concavity of traffic oscillations (i.e. the standard deviation of the velocities of vehicles increases in a concave/linear way along the platoon). 293. Retainability of canonical distributions for a Brownian particle controlled by a time-dependent harmonic potential

Abstract

The retainability of canonical distributions for a Brownian particle controlled by a time-dependent harmonic potential is investigated in the overdamped and underdamped situations, respectively. Because of different time scales, the overdamped and underdamped Langevin equations (as well as the corresponding Fokker-Planck equations) lead to distinctive restrictions on protocols maintaining canonical distributions. Two special cases are analyzed in details: First, a Brownian particle is controlled by a time-dependent harmonic potential and embedded in medium with constant temperature; Second, a Brownian particle is controlled by a time-dependent harmonic potential and embedded in a medium whose temperature is tuned together with the potential stiffness to keep a constant effective temperature of the Brownian particle. We find that the canonical distributions are usually retainable for both the overdamped and underdamped situations in the former case. However, the canonical distributions are retainable merely for the overdamped situation in the latter case. We also investigate general time-dependent potentials beyond the harmonic form and find that the retainability of canonical distributions depends sensitively on the specific form of potentials.
