297. A Study on Driving Load While Overtaking on Mountainous Two-Lane Highways Based on Physiological Characteristics

Abstract

The traffic environment of mountainous highways is more complex than that of nonmountainous highways, with higher driving loads, which increases the risk in overtaking. The changes in the driver's pupils, eye gaze behavior, and heart rate can be used to evaluate the level of driving tension and safety. To analyze the driving load while overtaking on two-lane highways in mountainous areas, an actual vehicle test was conducted. Twenty-one drivers were divided into a skilled group and an unskilled group. The gaze time, gaze transfer characteristics, heart rate changes, and pupil area changes during the three stages of overtaking (intention, execution, and return) were compared and analyzed. The comprehensive evaluation of driving load during the overtaking process used the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method and Rank Sum Ratio (RSR) method. The results show that the two groups of drivers had the highest driving load during the overtaking execution stage and the lowest driving load during the intention stage. The driving load of overtaking on sections with poor-sight distance was significantly higher than that on sections with good-sight distance, and the risk in overtaking during the execution and return stages was highest on sections with poor-sight distance. It is possible to reduce the driving load if the driver is familiar with the road conditions or has a rich driving experience. Compared to the unskilled group, the skilled group had lower driving loads at all stages of overtaking. 298. Interpreting Institute Culture Dynamics of Technology Adoption: A Downscaling Dynamic Model

Abstract

This study proposed a dynamic model of organizational technology adoption within a school institute culture. We described an implementation of a nonhomogeneous hidden Markov model based on a downscaling scheme that can project the cultural factors of the institute onto a teacher's implementation behavior. To reveal the dynamics of cultural evolution, we modeled the interactions within the institute's organization by incorporating extra dependencies and downscaling variables into the underlying process of cultural change. We applied an analysis scheme to the nine-semester e-textbook usage of a primary school and gain insight into teachers' technology adoption from a cultural perspective. We identified three states that represented the collective adoption contexts to examine how exogenous variables influence both the organization-scale context dynamics and the individual-scale implementation changes. The results showed that the effect of exogenous variables, especially external factors, varied between contexts and scales. The school's norm was shown to affect organizational adoption culture. Teachers were sensitive to the adopted context, as they are inclined to adjust their usage to meet preexisting norms. Interventions such as seminars initiated by the teachers' community were observed to cause a more long-term effect on the movement of the culture to an active context. Moreover, our research provided evidence that an organization can achieve more efficacy from teachers' involvement in a high degree of cooperation in in-class experiences.

299. Observation of entanglement negativity transition of pseudo-random mixed states

Abstract

Multipartite entanglement is a key resource for quantum computation. It is expected theoretically that entanglement transition may happen for multipartite random quantum states, however, which is still absent experimentally. Here, we report the observation of entanglement transition quantified by negativity using a fully connected 20-qubit superconducting processor. We implement multi-layer pseudo-random circuits to generate pseudo-random pure states of 7 to 15 qubits. Then, we investigate negativity spectra of reduced density matrices obtained by quantum state tomography for 6 qubits.Three different phases can be identified by calculating logarithmic negativities based on the negativity spectra. We observe the phase transitions by changing the sizes of environment and subsystems. The randomness of our circuits can be also characterized by quantifying the distance between the distribution of output bit-string probabilities and Porter-Thomas distribution. Our simulator provides a powerful tool to generate random states and understand the entanglement structure for multipartite quantum systems.

300. Construction of a qudit using Schrodinger cat states and generation of hybrid entanglement between a discrete-variable qudit and a continuous-variable qudit

Abstract

We show that a continuous-variable (CV) qudit can be constructed using quasiorthogonal cat states of a bosonic mode, when the phase encoded in each cat state is chosen appropriately. With the constructed CV qudit and the discrete-variable (DV) qudit encoded with Fock states, we propose an approach to generate the hybrid maximally entangled state of a CV qudit and a DV qudit by using two microwave cavities coupled to a superconducting flux qutrit. This proposal relies on the initial preparation of a superposition of Fock states of one cavity and the initial preparation of a cat state of the other cavity. After the initial state of each cavity is prepared, this proposal requires only two basic operations, i.e., the first operation employs the dispersive coupling of both cavities with the qutrit while the second operation uses the dispersive coupling of only one cavity with the qutrit. The entangled state production is deterministic and the operation time decreases as the dimensional size of each qudit increases. In addition, during the entire operation, the coupler qutrit remains in the ground state and thus decoherence from the qutrit is significantly reduced. As an example, we further discuss the experimental feasibility for generating the hybrid maximally entangled state of a DV qutrit and a CV qutrit based on circuit QED. This proposal is universal and can be extended to accomplish the same task, by using two microwave or optical cavities coupled to a natural or artificial three-level atom., Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures
