Galactic double white dwarfs (DWDs) are predominant sources of gravitational waves in the millihertz frequencies accessible to space-borne gravitational wave (GW) detectors. With advances in multimessenger astronomy, an increasing number of DWD systems will be discovered through both electromagnetic (EM) and GW observations. In this paper, we simulated two populations of DWDs originating from different star formation histories (hereafter referred to as Model 1 and Model 2) using the binary population synthesis method. We predicted the number of DWDs in our Galaxy detectable by TianQin and Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) individually, as well as through their joint observation. In addition, we performed an analysis to evaluate the accuracy of the parameter estimation using the Fisher information matrix. Furthermore, we predicted the number of detached eclipsing DWDs detectable by Gaia and the Vera C. Rubin Observatory (VRO). Our study found that over the nominal mission durations, TianQin, LISA, and their joint observation can detect at least 5000 and potentially several tens of thousands of DWDs with signal-to-noise ratios greater than 7. Gaia and VRO are expected to detect at least several dozen and up to several hundred eclipsing DWDs with orbital periods less than 30 h. Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) yield is impacted by abiotic stresses, leading to significant economic losses. To understand the core abiotic stress transcriptome (CAST) of oil palm, we performed RNA-Seq analyses of oil palm leaves subjected to drought, salinity, waterlogging, heat, and cold stresses. A total of 19,834 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified. Cold treatment induced the highest number of DEGs (5,300), followed by heat (4,114), drought (3,751), waterlogging (3,573), and, lastly, salinity (3096) stress. Subsequent analysis revealed the CAST of oil palm, comprising 588 DEGs commonly expressed under drought, salinity, waterlogging, heat, and cold stress conditions. Function annotation of these DEGs suggests their roles in signal transduction, transcription regulation, and abiotic stress responses including synthesis of osmolytes, secondary metabolites, and molecular chaperones. Moreover, we identified core DEGs encoding kinases, ERF, NAC TFs, heat shock proteins, E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase, terpineol synthase, and cytochrome P450. These core DEGs may be potential key modulators that interplay in triggering rapid abiotic stress responses to achieve delicate equilibrium between productivity and adaptation to abiotic stresses. This comprehensive study provides insights into the key modulators in the CAST of oil palm, and their potential applications as markers for selecting climate-resilient oil palms or opportunities to develop future climate resilient oil palm using genome editing. BACKGROUND: Fungal diseases present a significant threat to global agriculture, necessitating the development of new, safe, and effective fungicides. Existing fungicides face resistance and health risks, prompting the synthesis of novel compounds. Researchers have synthesized aldehyde‐based thiourea and thiazolyl hydrazine derivatives, evaluating their antifungal activities to identify impactful pesticide molecules. RESULTS: The results showed that most of the compounds had broad‐spectrum antifungal activity against six plant pathogenic fungi and four post‐harvest fungi. Notably, compound LN18 showed the best antifungal activity against Monilinia fructicola with a half‐maximal effective concentration (EC50) of 0.17 μg mL−1, which was better than the commercial fungicide natamycin. A structure–activity relationship (SAR) study showed that the presence of unsaturated double bonds in the structure and the length of the carbon chain were the main factors affecting antifungal activity. The presence of unsaturated double bonds and an increase in the length of the carbon chain greatly improved inhibitory activity against the tested pathogens. The preliminary mechanism study showed that LN18 could damage the integrity of the mycelial plasma membrane, leading to leakage of intracellular nucleic acid and protein. LN18 also induced an increase in the intracellular reactive oxygen species level to exert its antifungal effects. In addition, compound LN18 had a stronger antifungal effect in vivo, and better phytotoxicity than natamycin, indicating broad application prospects in agriculture. CONCLUSION: Aldehydes–thiourea and thiazolyl hydrazine derivatives demonstrate remarkable antifungal efficacy against plant pathogenic and post‐harvest fungi, offering a promising avenue for commercialization as highly efficacious, cost‐effective and safe antifungal agents. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry. In this study, we prepared unentangled and slightly entangled poly(L-lactic acid) telechelic ionomer samples (Mn=5 and 16 kg/mol) based on sodium sulfonate groups. The telechelic samples exhibit extremely slow crystallization kinetics below the melting temperature Tm and above the glass transition temperature Tg, which enables us to examine the linear viscoelasticity of the ionomer melt samples therein. The application of either the shear flow (at 85 °C) or elongational flow (between 70 and 90 °C) strongly accelerates the crystallization, leading to strong strain hardening and formation of highly oriented α crystals. Depending on the relative average rates of the strain-induced dissociation and strain-induced crystallization, the stress evolution can be classified into two cases, and the critical work for strain-induced crystallization is higher in case where the strain-induced dissociation occurs earlier than the strain-induced crystallization. The Xintianling deposit is one of the largest skarn-type scheelite deposit in China. Recent discoveries of quartz-vein-type scheelite mineralization within the deposit have raised questions about its origin and the evolution of ore-forming fluids, hindering a comprehensive understanding of the ore-forming process. We investigate the microtextures, trace elements, and oxygen isotope compositions of scheelite from different stages in both skarn-type and quartz-vein-type W mineralizations. Combined with apatite geochemistry and U–Pb dating, we determine the timing of quartz-vein-type mineralization and the evolution of magmatic-hydrothermal system. Based on detailed petrological observation, three types (seven subtypes) of scheelite and two types of apatite are identified. The Mo contents and Eu/Eu* ratios of scheelite, along with the Ce/Ce* ratios of apatite indicate the oxygen fugacity of fluids during the skarn metallogenic episode is generally higher than that during the quartz-vein metallogenic episode. Furthermore, the Y/Ho ratios and REE patterns of scheelite indicate the presence of at least three significant stages of fluid influx and fluid-rock interactions throughout entire ore-forming process. The O isotope compositions of scheelite in the quartz-vein-type metallogenic episode reveal that the ore-forming fluids are originated from a magmatic source, and meteoric water was mixed into the system, leading to the precipitation of the latest stage of scheelite. The apatites closely coexist with scheelite, from the early and the late stages of quartz-vein metallogenic episode, yield consistent U–Pb ages within error of 160.4 ± 2.4 Ma and 158.4 ± 1.3 Ma, respectively, indicating a close genetic link between quartz-vein-type W mineralization and the fine-grained porphyritic biotite granite. Our study highlights the significance of pulsed fluid exsolution and the combined effects of multiple mechanisms, including fluid-rock interaction, fluid mixing, and physicochemical condition changes, in the formation of large W deposits. Zero-directional refraction phenomenon refers to the capability where waves do not undergo refraction at a material interface under specific conditions, which has broad potential applications, particularly in the fields of optics, acoustics, and phononics. Previous research of zero-directional refraction rely on the zero or equivalent-zero index of the material parameters, which is quite challenging to manipulate the zero-directional transport of waves. In this paper, based on the topological theory, we have constructed a pillared phononic crystal (PnC) plate structure with pseudospin topologically protected transport, enabling zero-directional refraction of elastic waves without using zero or equivalent-zero index of the material parameters. By initially adjusting the contraction and expansion of the pillared unit cell, a band inversion effect between pseudospin dipoles and quadrupoles is induced, thus leading to a topological phase transition of elastic wave. Combining the phase matching between topological interface and terminal medias, the elastic waves in pillared PnC plate can exhibit zero-directional refraction behavior. Finally, it was demonstrated that the phenomenon of zero-directional refraction exhibits robustness in the presence of cavities and bends, and different incident angles. Background: Jujube is a homologous herb of medicine and food, and polyphenols are key in determining the functional effects of jujubes. Methods: In this study, characteristic polyphenols in 15 varieties of Chinese jujubes were investigated based on untargeted metabolomics. Results: The results showed that a total of 79 characteristic polyphenols were identified in the 15 varieties of Chinese jujube, and 55 characteristic polyphenols such as syringetin, spinosin and kaempferol were reported for the first time. Scopoletin (63.94% in LZYZ), pectolinarin (22.63% in HZ) and taxifolin (19.69% in HZ) contributed greatly and presented significant (p < 0.05) differences in the 15 varieties of Chinese jujubes. HZ was characterized by pectolinarin, erianin and wogonoside, while XSHZ, NYDZ and RQHZ, with similar polyphenol profiles, were characterized by (+)-catechin, combretastatin A4 and tectorigenin. JSBZ, HMDZ, TZ, JCJZ and HPZ had similar polyphenol profiles of galangin, isoferulic acid and hydroxysafflor yellow A. Conclusions: Metabolomics is critical in grasping the full polyphenol contents of jujubes, and the differences in the polyphenol profiles and characteristic individual polyphenols of the 15 varieties of Chinese jujubes were well analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA). Context/Objectives: Hydroxychoroquine has hypoglycemic effects and may reduce the risk of diabetes mellitus (DM). We determined the association between hydroxychoroquine use and the incidence of DM in a population-based cohort of pations with Rheumatic disease Methods: A prospective cohort study among 502392 Potentially eligible participants in the context of UK Biobank, recruitment to the database began between 2006 and 2010. Patients diagnosed with diabetes and fasting glucose greater than or equal to 7 mmol/L at baseline (n=619) were excluded and patients diagnosed with either RA or SLE at baseline (n=6793) were followed up until 2022. Diagnosis was recorded using the International Classification of Diseases, tenth edition (ICD-10) code. The mean follow-up was 13.78 years and the primary outcome was newly recorded type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), with the time of onset of diabetes as the follow-up endpoint date. Results: During a median follow-up period of 13.78 (12.93, 14.49) years, diabetes developed in 537 participants, with an incidence of 7.9%. New diabetes cases not taking hydroxychloroquine and taking hydroxychloroquine was 504 (8.03%) and 33 (6.36%), respectively. In univariate models, the hazard ratio for diabetes was 0.89 (95% confidence interval, 0.81-0.98, P =0.014) for hydroxychloroquine users compared with those not taking hydroxychloroquine. After adjusting for age, sex, race, education level, and BMI the hazard ratio for incident diabetes among hydroxychloroquine users was 0.88 (95% confidence interval, 0.80-0.97, P =0.008). In complete multivariate model hazard ratio for hydroxychloroquine was 0.87 (95% confidence interval, 0.79- 0.96, P =0.005). Conclusion: Hydroxychloroquine was associated with decreased risk of DM among rheumatoid arthritis patients, our data taken together with correlational studies, warrant further investigation of the potential preventive effect of hydroxychloroquine against T2DM. The Xiaoqinling gold province, located in the Neoarchean-Paleoproterozoic uplifted footwalls of the Xiaoqinling metamorphic core complex (XMCC), is one of China's largest gold producers; however, achieving a consensus regarding their metallogenic model remains elusive. Scheelite is an indicator mineral that commonly occurs in lode gold deposits worldwide used to recognize deposit types and understand hydrothermal evolution and the origin of features. Xenotime, monazite, and rutile are common hydrothermal minerals in association with lode gold deposits worldwide. Here, we provide textual, in situ U-Pb geochronology of xenotime, monazite, and rutile, and in situ elemental and Sr-Nd isotopic compositions of scheelite within different stages from the large Yangzhaiyu lode gold deposit, aiming to elucidate its genesis and, for the first time, establish a holistic correlation between the lode gold mineralization and the evolution of the XMCC. Notably low eNd(t) values (-30.7 to -23.7), high 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.72659-0.75914), and distinct rare earth elements, Sr, Mo, and As contents of scheelite confirm a metamorphic crustal source. Xenotime U-Pb dating and pre-ore (Stage I) scheelite reveal that ore-barren metamorphic fluids at ca. 140 Ma were oxidized with low Bi contents and buffered by greenschist facies metamorphism when the XMCC initiated. Monazite and rutile U-Pb dating combined with ore-stage scheelite geochemistry indicate a compositional shift in the more reduced auriferous metamorphic fluids, which dominated during major gold deposition periods (stages II and III) from 130 Ma to 120 Ma, characterized by significantly depleted Na and increased Bi contents. This resulted from the prograde greenschist-to-amphibolite metamorphism at mid-lower crustal depths as the result of the XMCC isostatic doming and the lithospheric mantle thinning after 130 Ma. This study highlights the crucial role of metamorphic core complexes in governing the timing, locations, and resources of the lode gold metallogenic system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
