An inert gas environment is required during the laser metal deposition of titanium alloys due to oxidation. A nozzle with local shielding device is more flexible than the inert gas chamber, and size of the components produced is not restricted. In this study, a coaxial double-deck gas shielding nozzle was designed to provide a local shielding for the laser metal deposition of Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Numerical simulation of flow field under four different gas flow rates was carried out, and the corresponding Ti-6Al-4V single clads as well as components were produced. Experimental results revealed that the effective protection length increased and then became steady with the gas rate getting larger. Every component showed significant change in the degree of surface discoloration. Among that when the gas flow rate exceeded 30 L/min, surface of the formed bulk components showed yellowish and shiny silver and the internal oxygen content was below 2000 ppm, which had a minimal raise from the powder. In addition, the microhardness of the components showed little increase compared with the rolled substrate.

In respect of laser metal deposition (LMD) 3-D additive manufacturing technology, the method of non-parallel slicing is applied for the deposition of the overhanging and unequal-height parts and is capable of improving the deposition accuracy, stability and efficiency. Nevertheless, the produced uneven top surface derived from variable height deposition process has a possibility to result in instability and even failure of the deposition. In this study, the novel control strategies for the precise control of the unequal-height part were proposed. An inside-beam powder feeding nozzle was applied for the deposition with large overhanging angle. Based on a developed deposition height control system, multiple PI controllers were designed for varying desired deposition heights in an unequal-height layer. The actual heights of the uneven top surface in different positions were memorized by the deposition of a layer, and the process parameters for the next layer could be planned in advance to smooth this unevenness. Under the proposed control strategies, a geometrical stable and convergent process was made achievable when depositing a “fan-shaped” part and a “bent-pipe-shaped” part as the typical overhanging and unequal-height structures. The microstructures were observed to be uniform and compact, and the grain sizes and microhardness in different height positions were found to vary slightly.

Background:Protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO, EC 1.3.3.4) is a key enzyme in the biosynthesis of chlorophyll and heme, also the target of different types of herbicides. Thiazole compounds shown excellent biological activity, can be designed by using active groups docking for new PPO inhibitors.Objective:The objective of this study was to synthsize a series of aryl thiazole compounds as PPO inhibitors.Methods:In this study, a series of aryl thiazole compounds derivatives 11a-l were obtained from 2- chloro-5-nitrobenzoic acid as the starting material via esterification, Iron powder reduction, diazotization, Hantzsch reaction and final acylation. All synthesized compounds have been tested for their herbicidal activities as a PPO inhibitors.Results:The Petri dish test indicated that all compounds exhibited good herbicidal activities at 200 mg/L using culture dish. And the post-emergence tests showed that at 150g.ai/ha on weed stem leaf spray treatment, some of the title compounds exhibited 80% inhibition rate against the dicotyledonou weeds Amaranthus retroflexus and Eclipta prostrate.Conclusion:Good activity was noted for some compounds that compounds 11a, 11b, 11c, 11g, 11h had 80% inhibition on stems and leaves of Amaranthus retroflexus at 150g.ai/ha.

The gob-side entry driving is driving in low pressure area, which bears less support pressure and is easy to maintain, so it is widely used. Taking the gob-side entry driving in thick coal seam of Dongtan Coal Mine as an example, the reasonable size of pillar and the section of roadway are numerically simulated by combining numerical with measurement, and the roadway support is designed. According to the distribution of lateral stress in working face, eight pillars of different sizes are designed. By simulating and comparing the stress distribution of surrounding rock and the development range and shape of plastic zone in different positions, the pillar size of gob-side entry driving is optimized to be 4.5m. According to the results of optimization of roadway section, the section of straight wall semi-circular arch roadway is adopted. According to the analysis, the roadway is supported by bolt + steel mesh + anchor cable. By observing the stability of roadway, it provides experience for the stability study of roadway the gob-side entry driving with small pillar in thick seam.
