Zn–iodine (I2) battery, as a promising energy storage device, especially under high I2 loading, is harassed by the shuttle effect of the soluble polyiodide intermediates. Herein, the bifunctional role of 2D carbon nanosponge with rich P‐dopant (4.2 at%) and large specific surface area (1966 m2 g−1) in anchoring I2/Ix− (x = 1, 3 or 5) and catalyzing their mutual conversion is reported. Both experiment and computational results reveal the transfer of electrons from the P‐doped site to iodine species, showing strong interfacial interaction. When being used as a host, it possesses high specific capture capacity for I2 (3.34 giodine g−1 or 1.6 mgiodine m−2) and Ix− (6.12 gtriiodide g−1 or 3.1 mgtriiodide m−2), which thus effectively suppresses the shuttle effect, supported by in situ UV–vis and Raman spectra. In addition to the strong interfacial interaction that favors iodine conversion, the P‐doped sites can also catalyze the conversion of I5− to I2, which is the rate‐determining step. Consequently, Zn–I2 batteries under a high I2 content (70 wt%) deliver high specific capacity (220.3 mAh g−1), superior Coulombic efficiency (>99%), and low self‐discharge rate; moreover, they can also operate steadily at 2 A g−1 with ignorable capacity decay for 10 000 cycles. This study examined the associations between sensory impairment (SI), lack of social contact during the COVID-19 pandemic, and depressive symptoms among Americans aged 50 and above. We employed data from the 2018 and 2020 Health and Retirement Study (N = 13,460) to examine four SI groups: no SI, visual impairment (VI) only, hearing impairment (HI) only, and dual sensory impairment (DSI). First, multilevel models were employed to estimate the associations between SI and depressive symptoms before and during the pandemic using the full dataset (N = 13,460). Second, linear regression models were employed to estimate the moderation effect of lack of social contact during the pandemic using the 2020 wave data only (N = 4,133). Among older adults, 15.60% had VI only, 10.16% had HI only, and 9.66% had DSI. All SI groups reported significantly more depressive symptoms than the no SI group. The differences between older adults with VI and DSI and those without SI regarding depressive symptoms narrowed during the pandemic. There was no statistically significant moderation effect of lack of social contact for SI and depressive symptoms. Older adults with SI faced mental health challenges and demonstrated psychological resilience during the pandemic. Lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2) is one of the most commercially successful cathode materials and has attracted much attention from researchers since its discovery. However, an increase in cut-off voltage generates problems such as structural damage and detrimental side reactions. Under this premise, a layer of LiTaO3 coating is sputtered on the surface of the LiCoO2 electrode by magnetron sputtering, which aims to inhibit the structural damage and the occurrence of side reactions under high voltage. Meanwhile, the ionic conductor layer of LiTaO3 can also promote the transmission process of Li+ and improve the power density. The results show that the capacity retention rate of the MS-2 h (magnetron sputtering for 2 hours) electrode is 86.6% at 0.5C for 100 cycles in a voltage range of 3.0–4.6 V, and the capacity of 91 mA h g−1 is achieved at 3C. The cycling stability of the electrode is also effectively improved at high temperature, and the capacity retention rate was 40.9% after 100 cycles at 50 °C. This work proves that the coating of LiTaO3 on the electrode surface by magnetron sputtering can effectively inhibit the damage of the electrode structure and the occurrence of side reactions during cycling and can promote the transmission of lithium ions. Aim: The current study aimed to investigate the neuroinflammatory hypothesis of depression and the potential anti‐inflammatory effect of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in vivo, utilizing astrocyte‐derived extracellular vesicles (ADEVs) isolated from plasma. Methods: A total of 40 patients with treatment‐resistant depression (TRD) and 35 matched healthy controls were recruited at baseline, and 34 patients with TRD completed the post‐ECT visits. Blood samples were collected at baseline and post‐ECT. Plasma ADEVs were isolated and confirmed, and the concentrations of two astrocyte markers (glial fibrillary acidic protein [GFAP] and S100β), an extracellular vesicle marker cluster of differentiation 81 (CD81), and nine inflammatory markers in ADEVs were measured as main analyses. In addition, correlation analysis was conducted between clinical features and ADEV protein levels as exploratory analysis. Results: At baseline, the TRD group exhibited significantly higher levels of two astrocyte markers GFAP and S100β, as well as CD81 compared with the healthy controls. Inflammatory markers interferon γ (IFN‐γ), interleukin (IL) 1β, IL‐4, IL‐6, tumor necrosis factor α, IL‐10, and IL‐17A were also significantly higher in the TRD group. After ECT, there was a significant reduction in the levels of GFAP, S100β, and CD81, along with a significant decrease in the levels of IFN‐γ and IL‐4. Furthermore, higher levels of GFAP, S100β, CD81, and inflammatory cytokines were associated with more severe depressive symptoms and poorer cognitive function. Conclusion: This study provides direct insight supporting the astrocyte activation and neuroinflammatory hypothesis of depression using ADEVs. Data-driven fault diagnosis techniques utilizing deep learning have achieved widespread success. However, their diagnostic capability and application possibility are significantly reduced in real-world scenarios where fault modes are not fully covered and labels are lacking. Owing to potential conflicts of interest and legal risks, industrial equipment fault data usually exist in the form of isolated islands, making it difficult to carry out large-scale centralized model training. This paper proposes open-set federated adversarial domain adaptation (OS-FADA) to achieve collaborative evolution of fault diagnosis capabilities among cross-domain data owners while protecting privacy. The OS-FADA is a general fault diagnosis framework that employs two-phase adversarial learning. First, faced with the data distribution shift caused by variable working conditions, a generative adversarial feature extractor training strategy is designed to achieve domain-invariant fault feature extraction by approximating the feature distributions of clients to a unified generated distribution. Second, considering the label distribution shift of unknown faults occurring in the target client, an adversarial learning method is proposed to establish decision boundaries between known and unknown faults. Ultimately, the co-evolution of fault diagnosis models between clients is achieved by combining two-phase adversarial learning and federated aggregation. Results from an industrial gearbox case demonstrate that our proposed method achieves over 20% diagnostic accuracy improvement and has excellent potential for cross-domain fault diagnosis tasks with unknown faults when the data silos problem cannot be ignored. Background: The overall impact of social connectedness on health outcomes in older adults living in nursing homes and assisted living settings is unknown. Given the unclear health impact of social connectedness for older adults in congregate long‐term care settings worldwide, a comprehensive systematic review is required to evaluate the overall relationship between social connectedness and health outcomes for them. Objectives: The purpose of this article was to synthesize the literature regarding the health impact of social connectedness among older adults living in nursing homes or assisted living settings. Methods: Using PRISMA guidelines, we identified eligible studies from Scopus, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, CINAHL and Cochrane databases (1990–2021). Bias and quality reporting assessment was performed using standardized criteria for cohort, cross sectional and qualitative studies. At each stage, ≥ 2 researchers conducted independent evaluations. Results: Of the 7350 articles identified, 25 cohort (follow‐up range: 1 month–11 years; with two also contributing to cross sectional), 86 cross sectional, eight qualitative and two mixed methods were eligible. Despite different instruments used, many residents living in nursing homes and assisted living settings had reduced social engagement. Quantitative evidence supports a link between higher social engagement and health outcomes most studied (e.g. depression, quality of life). Few studies evaluated important health outcomes (e.g. cognitive and functional decline). Most cohort studies showed that lack of social connectedness accelerated time to death. Conclusions: Social connectedness may be an important modifiable risk factor for adverse health outcomes for older adults living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Most studies were cross sectional and focused on quality of life and mental health outcomes. Longitudinal studies suggest that higher social engagement delays time to death.
