260. Mobile-Env: An Evaluation Platform and Benchmark for LLM-GUI Interaction

Abstract

The User Interface (UI) is pivotal for human interaction with the digital world, facilitating efficient control of machines, information navigation, and complex task completion. To achieve easy, efficient, and free interactions, researchers have been exploring the potential of encapsulating the traditional Programming Language Interfaces (PLIs) and Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) into Natural Language Interfaces (NLIs). However, due to the limited capabilities of small models, traditional work mainly focuses on tasks for which only a single step is needed. This largely constrains the application of NLIs. Recently, Large Language Models (LLMs) have exhibited robust reasoning and planning abilities, yet their potential for multi-turn interactions in complex environments remains under-explored. To assess LLMs as NLIs in real-world graphical environments, we introduce the GUI interaction platform, Mobile-Env, specifically on mobile apps. Mobile-Env enhances interaction flexibility, task extensibility, and environment adaptability compared with previous environments. A GUI task set based on WikiHow app is collected on Mobile-Env to form a benchmark covering a range of GUI interaction capabilities. We further conduct comprehensive evaluations of LLM agents, including various versions of GPT, LLaMA 2, and AgentLM, on WikiHow task set to acquire insights into the potentials and challenges of LLMs in GUI interactions.

262. Mobile-Env: An Evaluation Platform and Benchmark for Interactive Agents in LLM Era

Abstract

Diverse evaluation benchmarks play a crucial role to assess a wide range of capabilities of large language models (LLM). Although plenty of endeavors have been dedicated to building valuable benchmarks, there is still little work aiming at evaluating the capability of LLM in multistep interactive environments. Noticing that LLM requires a text representation of the environment observations for interaction, we choose to fill such a blank by building a novel benchmark based on the information user interface (InfoUI). InfoUI consists of rich text contents and can be represented in some text formats, thus is suitable for the assessment of interaction ability of LLM. Additionally, the complex structures of InfoUI can further raise a challenge for LLM to understand structured texts rather than plain texts. An interaction platform is always used to evaluate an agent, however, there is still a lack of a satisfactory interaction platform dedicated to InfoUI. Consequently, we propose to build a novel easily-extendable, adaptable, and close-to-reality interaction platform, Mobile-Env, to provide a base for an appropriate benchmark. Based on Mobile-Env, an InfoUI task set WikiHow is then built to establish a benchmark for the multistep interaction capability of LLM in structured text-based environments. Agents based on a series of LLMs are tested on the task set to obtain an insight into the potential and challenge of LLM for InfoUI interaction. It is sincerely welcome that the community contribute new environments and new task sets for Mobile-Env to provide better test benchmarks and facilitate the development of the corresponding domains.

264. Adjustment of Vulcanization Degree to Prepare High-Performance NiCo2S4 Material for Supercapacitors.

Abstract

Transition bimetallic sulfides exhibit high capacity and outstanding chemical performance in supercapacitors due to their abundant electrochemical active sites and conductivity. In this paper, NiCo2S4 with an obvious core–shell nanosphere structure was prepared by adjusting the amount of thiourea by a one-step hydrothermal method. This special core–shell structure of the NiCo2S4 material can provide more active sites to make it exhibit better electrochemical performance. The electrochemical performance test results show that the NiCo2S4 material prepared with 16 mmol thiourea can reach 1224.0 F g−1 at the current density of 1 A g−1, and maintain 88.74% capacitance even at 10 A g−1. In addition, with the NiCo2S4 as the positive electrode and activated carbon as the negative electrode, the supercapacitor (NiCoS3//AC) can achieve the specific capacitance of 121.9 F g−1 when the current density is 1 A g−1. At a power density of 614 W kg−1, the energy density reaches 38.1 Wh kg−1. The results show that the microstructure of the material is closely related to the amount of thiourea added, and that only appropriate degree of vulcanization is helpful for the formation of core–shell-like NiCo2S4 with excellent performance. Abstract

Currently, the integrated development of agriculture and tourism is one of the most critical strategic measures in China. The rapid growth of agricultural tourism integration presents the typical characteristics of expanding regional differences. Exploring the impact of agricultural tourism integration on the growth of green total factor productivity in agriculture has important theoretical and practical significance. This study constructs a comprehensive index system for agricultural tourism integration, measuring the development level of agricultural tourism integration in 30 sample provinces from 2008 to 2018. Using the generalized system method of moments approach and Tobit model, the impact of agricultural tourism integration on agriculture was empirically tested, and the regulatory role of rural human capital was discussed. It was found that agricultural tourism integration contributes significantly to the improvement in green total factor productivity in agriculture, with rural mobility human capital, education human capital, and health human capital all playing a significant positive moderating role in this process. Finally, it is recommended that priority be given to agricultural tourism integration in the policy framework, promoting industrial chain upgrading, raising investment in rural infrastructure, and upgrading rural human capital levels to contribute the rural economic development. Abstract

Inspired by the insights in cognitive science with respect to human memory and reasoning mechanism, a novel evolvable LLM-based (Large Language Model) agent framework is proposed as REMEMBERER. By equipping the LLM with a long-term experience memory, REMEMBERER is capable of exploiting the experiences from the past episodes even for different task goals, which excels an LLM-based agent with fixed exemplars or equipped with a transient working memory. We further introduce Reinforcement Learning with Experience Memory (RLEM) to update the memory. Thus, the whole system can learn from the experiences of both success and failure, and evolve its capability without fine-tuning the parameters of the LLM. In this way, the proposed REMEMBERER constitutes a semi-parametric RL agent. Extensive experiments are conducted on two RL task sets to evaluate the proposed framework. The average results with different initialization and training sets exceed the prior SOTA by 4% and 2% for the success rate on two task sets and demonstrate the superiority and robustness of REMEMBERER.
