The current study accentuates the significance of performing the multiplex approach of LC-HRESIMS, biological activity, and docking studies in drug discovery, taking into consideration a review of the literature. In this regard, the investigation of antioxidant and cytotoxic activities of Trigonella stellata collected from the Egyptian desert revealed a significant antioxidant capacity using DPPH with IC50 = 656.9 µg/mL and a moderate cytotoxicity against HepG2, MCF7, and CACO2, with IC50 values of 53.3, 48.3, and 55.8 µg/mL, respectively. The evaluation of total phenolic and flavonoid contents resulted in 32.8 mg GAE/g calculated as gallic acid equivalent and 5.6 mg RE/g calculated as rutin equivalent, respectively. Chemical profiling of T. stellata extract, using LC-HRESIMS analysis, revealed the presence of 15 metabolites, among which eleven compounds were detected for the first time in this species. Interestingly, in vitro testing of the antidiabetic activity of the alcoholic extract noted an α-glucosidase enzyme inhibitory activity (IC50 = 559.4 µg/mL) better than that of the standard Acarbose (IC50 = 799.9 µg/mL), in addition to a moderate inhibition of the α-amylase enzyme (IC50 = 0.77 µg/mL) compared to Acarbose (IC50 = 0.21 µg/mL). α-Glucosidase inhibition was also virtualized by binding interactions through the molecular docking study, presenting a high binding activity of six flavonoid glycosides, as well as the diterpenoid compound graecumoside A and the alkaloid fenugreekine. Taken together, the conglomeration of LC-HRESIMS, antidiabetic activity, and molecular docking studies shed light on T. stellata as a promising antidiabetic herb.

Background Solid organ transplantation (SOT) service has been disrupted during the current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, which deferred the service in most centers worldwide. As the pandemic persists, there will be an urgency to identify the best and safest practices for resuming activities as areas re-open. Resuming activity is a difficult issue, in particular, the decision of reopening after a period of slowing down or complete cessation of activities. Objectives To share our experience in resuming living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Liver Transplantation Unit of El-Manial Specialized Hospital, Cairo University, Egypt, and to review the obstacles that we have faced. Material and methods This study is a single-center study. We resumed LDLT by the 26th of August 2020 after a period of closure from the 1st of March 2020. We have taken a lot of steps in order to prevent COVID-19 transmission among transplant patients and healthcare workers (HCWs). Results In our study, we reported three LDLT recipients, once resuming the transplantation till now. All our recipients and donors tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 by nasopharyngeal RT-PCR a day before the transplantation. Unfortunately, one of them developed COVID-19 infection. We managed rapidly to isolate him in a single room, restricting one team of HCWs to deal with him with strict personal protective measures. Finally, the patient improved and was discharged in a good condition. The second patient ran a smooth course apart from FK neurotoxicity which improved with proper management. The third patient experienced a sharp rise in bilirubin and transaminases on day 14 that was attributed to drug toxicity vs. rejection and managed by discontinuing the offending drugs and pulse steroids. In addition, one of our head nurses tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 that was manageable with self-isolation. Conclusion Careful patient, donor, personnel screening is mandatory. Adequate supply of personal protective equipments, effective infection control policies, and appropriate administrative modifications are needed for a safe return of LDLT practice.

Background Acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is a common cause for hospitalization associated with significant mortality and morbidity. Disorders of calcium metabolism are a frequently encountered medical problem. The effect of hypocalcemia is not well defined on the outcomes of patients with PE. We aimed to identify the prognostic value of hypocalcemia in hospitalized PE patients utilizing the 2017 Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS). Methods In this retrospective study, we selected patients with a primary diagnosis of Acute PE using ICD 10 codes. They were further stratified based on the presence of hypocalcemia. We primarily aimed to compare in-hospital mortality for PE patients with and without hypocalcemia. We performed multivariate logistic regression analysis to adjust for potential confounders. We also used propensity‐matched cohort of patients to compare mortality. Results In the 2017 NIS, 187,989 patients had a principal diagnosis of acute PE. Among the above study group, 1565 (0.8%) had an additional diagnosis of hypocalcemia. 12.4% of PE patients with hypocalcemia died in the hospital in comparison to 2.95% without hypocalcemia. On multivariate regression analysis, PE and hypocalcemia patients had 4 times higher odds (aOR-4.03, 95% CI 2.78–5.84, p Conclusion PE patients with hypocalcemia have higher in-hospital mortality than those without hypocalcemia. The in-hospital complications were also higher, along with longer length of stay.

In the Republic of Kazakhstan, the most promising are kaolinite clays of the Alekseevsky deposit. For effective processing of clays, it is necessary to develop special methods of processing, since satisfactory results were not achieved when using standard methods of gravity processing. The article provides the results of studies of the effect of preliminary chemical activation on the yield of the kaolinite fraction during gravitational processing. Previously, the method of preliminary chemical activation of raw materials in a solution of sodium bicarbonate has proven itself well in the processing of various mineral raw materials. It is determined that as a result of preliminary chemical activation, changes in the phase composition occurred. The dependence of the yield of the kaolinite fraction on the temperature of chemical activation, duration, and the ratio of W:T and the concentration of the sodium bicarbonate solution. Based on the results obtained, a technology for the complex processing of kaolinite clays has been developed, which provides for the preliminary chemical activation of the feedstock at the beginning of the process, which will effectively isolate high-quality kaolinite and quartz products, which will significantly reduce the flow of materials entering for sintering. As a result of activation, the phase composition of the kaolinite fraction has changed: the percentage of the kaolinite fraction has decreased; new phases of muscovite and sodium aluminosilicate appeared; the amount of quartz increased.

Sucralose and saccharin-cyclamate mixture are considered as safe commercial artificial sweeteners with many health authorities instead of natural sugar. We aimed to reveal their effects on the physiological, immunological and histological profiles. Mice were given sucralose (0.3 mg/ml) or saccharin-cyclamate mixture (20 mg/ml) in drinking water for 8 and 16 weeks. Only sucralose caused a temporary significant increase in blood glucose after 8 weeks that was eliminated after 16 weeks. WBCs count was decreased significantly after 16 weeks of sucralose administration. Aspartate aminotransferase (AST), Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (Cr) recorded an increase at 8 and 16 weeks due to the two artificial sweeteners intake. Both artificial sweeteners induced a significant increase in interleukin (IL-) 6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and circulating lipopolysaccharides (LPS) levels with a progress from 8th to 16th weeks post administration. Both sugars, especially sucralose, caused a severe damage in kidney, liver, pancreas and urinary bladder. Data indicated the adverse effect of Sucralose and saccharin-cyclamate mixture, their consumption can cause a severe inflammation in liver, kidney, pancreas and urinary bladder. Moreover, they may interrupt the intestinal barriers leading to an increase in circulating LPS and pro-inflammatory cytokine secretions.

In recent years, Li-ion batteries have become the most widespread among rechargeable battery systems as they possess the highest energy density and specific energy. Among green energy storage devices, lithium-sulfur battery is an important type of Li-ion batteries and is expected to play a leading role in the development of such devices. However, the efficiency of lithium-sulfur batteries has been restricted by the dissolution of polysulfides in the electrolyte and also the poor electrical conductivity of sulfur. The use of porous sulfur/carbon composite in Li-S batteries, has restricted these drawbacks and improved the overall electrochemical and cycling performance of these batteries via enhancing the electrical conductivity of sulfur electrode, trapping the dissolved sulfides and suppressing its migration in the electrolyte, increasing electrolyte and Li+ ions transport as well as raising sulfur loading. Hence, this study case focused on the drawbacks of Li-S batteries and their respective solutions suggested in the previous works via utilization of porous carbon/sulfur cathode.

The primary goal of this study is to prepare chitosan nanoparticles (CSNPs) by the ionic gelation method via the treatment of chitosan (0.2 wt.%) with tripolyphosphate (0.2 wt.%) ultrasonically for 45 min. FT-IR spectroscopy and TEM images were used to characterize and validate CSNP production. Cellulosic materials with different concentrations of CSNPs have better antibacterial and colouring characteristics. The treated cellulosic fabrics were analyzed by FT-IR spectroscopy, SEM, and thermogravimetric analysis. Colourimetric data measurements expressed in K/S values were used to evaluate the impact of CSNPs on the dyeing affinity of cellulosic materials. In addition, antibacterial activity against bacteria and fungi was tested on the treated cellulosic fabrics. According to the K/S values, cellulosic textiles treated with CSNPs (0.3 wt.%) had a better affinity for acid dyeing. These textiles also offer better antibacterial properties and are more resistant to washing, light, and rubbing. A cytotoxicity study found that CSNPs give cellulosic materials antibacterial and acid dyeing properties, which is good for the environment.

The overuse and misuse of antibiotic without going to doctor leading to antibiotic resistant strains that represent a serious problem in the field of health protection, Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) remains one of the main causes for hospital infections specially in the intensive care unit (ICU), so that many researches directed to natural products as alternative antibiotic drug, nowadays special attention towards venoms as (elapids, viprides, honey bee venom, etc….) which contain molecules with antibacterial properties such as phospholipase A2 (PLA2), L-amino acids (LAAO) and melittin. The present study aimed to evaluate in vitro and in vivo antibacterial effect of three different venoms the Egyptian Cobra (Naja haje), the horned viper (Cerastes cerastes) and honey bee (Apis mellifera) on S. aureus. There were tested in vitro by Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) test and disc diffusion method. In vivo evaluation was performed by infecting groups of mice by S. aureus, then treated with these three venoms and standard antibiotic. The hematological studied showed that effect on Hb and RBCs not all groups like others compared to control. Biochemical analysis of mice sera, liver enzymes alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and kidney function (urea and creatinine) as well as cardiac enzyme creatinine phosphokinase (CPK) showed that all treated and untreated groups in biochemical studies recorded a significant increase in all liver, kidney and cardiac functions. Histological examination illustrated that liver and kidney tissue in untreated group with inflammatory cells infiltration, degree of inflammation decrease in both N. haje and C. cerastes groups, while A. mellifera and antibiotic groups approximately normal in both mice liver and kidney.

Among 21 cases of COVID-19 infection in our center, median age at diagnosis was 40 ± 12.8 years, and the median interval since transplantation was 4.75 years. Fever (100%) and radiographic abnormalities in form of unilateral or bilateral/multifocal consolidations (80%) were the most common presentations. Macrolide's antibiotics were used in 75% of patient.95% was improved and 4.6% showed mortality, reduction or stoppage of current immunosuppressives were only in 19%.

Background: The coronavirus disease-2019 pandemic has caused a disastrous world health crisis. The patients with renal disease, particularly those who are receiving regular dialysis therapy have elevated risk of COVID-19 infection-associated complications as well as poor prognosis including enhanced risk of hospital admission, mechanical ventilation and mortality.Objective: The objective of the study is to assess the outcomes of patients on maintenance dialysis admitted to a tertiary care hospital with COVID-19.Material and Methods: This retrospective study was performed in a Tertiary Care Hospital from March 2020 to August 2020. A total of 44 patients were included in the study. Data collected through questionnaire was analyzed using the computer software SPSS 24.0. Frequencies and percentages were calculated for categorical data while mean+SD was calculated for quantitative data.Results: Among 44 patients, 63.6% were males and the mean age was 46.86+12.413 years. Mean number of dialysis were 3.57+2.214. The mean ferritin level was 2067.05+788.412 ng/ml and mean C-reactive protein level was 111.59+32.998 mg/L. Among these patients, 65.9% were discharged and 34.1% patients expired.Conclusion: Study concluded that elevated levels of inflammatory markers such as ferritin and CRP are found among patients on maintenance dialysis with COVID-19.

Objective: The aim of this study is to inspect the ameliorative effect of avenanthramides (AVA) on CP nephrotoxicity in Sprague-Dawley rats. Materials and Methods: Blood samples were collected for the determination of hematological parameters. Creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were measured in serum. Specimens from both kidneys were taken for histopathological examinations. Results: Administration of AVA resulted in significant decrease in the level of creatinine and TNF-α when compared with CP group. Histopathologically, CP-induced vacuolar degeneration and necro¬sis of the kidney tubules. Administration of AVA ameliorates the histopathological alterations induced by CP. Conclusion: AVA can be considered as a protective agent for kidneys during administration of CP. The protective effect of AVA may be related to the reduction of TNF-α which implicated in the pathogenesis of CP nephrotoxicity. [J Adv Vet Anim Res 2019; 6(4.000): 521-527]

Rose-scented geranium, Pelargonium graveolens L'Herit. (Geraniaceae), is an economically important plant. GC-MS analysis of the essential oil, prepared by hydro-distillation from this plant species, showed the presence of iso-menthone (15.71%), epi-α-cadinol (15.49%), iso-menthol (6.46%), geranyl formate (6.22%), geraniol (6.16%) and citronellol (5.53%). The composition of the absolute prepared by solvent extraction was compared to that of the essential oil. Change in citronellol to geraniol ratio in the absolute was monitored during leaf development. Estimation of the ratio of the two compounds was carried out using 1H NMR spectroscopy. Geraniol content was highest in young leaves and citronellol content increased with increase in leaf age. Meta-analysis of the essential oil constituents reported from different countries was carried out. Menthone and isomenthone as well as citronellol and geraniol were negatively correlated. A significantly positive correlation was found between geraniol and linalool.

Knitting has long been recognized as a leading method of forming fabrics for various enduses. So that many research is being conducted to achieve the optimum of functional andmechanical properties of knitted fabrics. The aims of this study are twofold; firstly, Freeformaldehyde cross-linking agent of cotton knitted fabrics were achieved through includingsome active agents, as functional agents, by using citric acid (CA), as an eco-friendlycrosslinking agent, and Sodium hypophosphite monohydrate (SHP), as a catalyst, using the paddry-cure technique to impart difunctional eco-friendly finishing. , and secondly to study theinfluence of treatment finishing on the knitting parameters of jersey structure such as, looplength, twist factor, stitch density, fabric weight and their effect on the mechanical properties oftreated fabrics .In this research, the effect of eco-friendly finishing of knitted fabrics using some commercial active agents with CA/SHP using pad–dry–cure technique was investigated. Antibacterial activity, UV-protection, Flame resistance and water repellency properties, as well as fabric comfortable properties of imparted functional properties, were evaluated. An ideal Anti-microbial activity, UV-protection, Flame resistance, water repellency and free formaldehyde cross-linking agent properties can be achieved by applying Antibacterial activity by using Polyprotec BBC (50 g/L ), (50 g/l citric acid) and 25 g/l of SHP as catalyst by applying the pad–dry–cure technique at 160oC for 3 minutes. Impart UV-protection properties by using Polyprotec BBC (50 g/L each), (50 g/l citric acid) and 25 g/l of SHP as catalyst by applying the pad–dry–cure technique at 160oC for 3 minutes. Impart Flame resistance properties by using Pyrovatex CP (350 g/L), (50 g/l citric acid) and 25 g/l of SHP as catalyst by applying the pad–dry–cure technique at 160oC for 3 minutes.The results obtained in the present work indicated that, fabric specification and mechanical properties changes as a different finishing treatment. It was concluded from this study that, the air permeability also tends to increase with the increase of the loop length, addition to air permeability is affected by the change in tightness factor of treated fabrics. The increase in fabric weight per square meter leads to an increase in the bending resistance of treated fabrics. So as a result, the heavy fabrics are stiffer than light fabrics. we also conclude that the loop length is one of the properties of jersey knitting fabrics which affect the bursting strength, where the loop length increases, bursting strength is decreased.

Introduction Some marriage-related factors may be associated with women’s sexuality, but this topic has not been sufficiently investigated in developing countries. Indeed, these marital factors can be well planned and/or managed to achieve desirable outcomes; for instance, the legal age of marriage can be increased to 21 years. However, how this will reflect on women’s sexuality should be clarified before any laws are changed. Aim The purpose of this study was to investigate the associations of the age of marriage, number of children, educational level, duration of marriage, and aging with female sexual function among groups of Egyptian women. Methods We analyzed the recorded sociodemographic data and scores of the 19-item Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) among 270 apparently healthy women aged 21−45 years. According to the studied variables, the data were divided into various subgroups. Main Outcome Measure The sociodemographic data and scores of the FSFI. Results Marriage, before or after 21 years, was not correlated with sexual function. FSFI scores were significantly lower among women with ≥3 children and women who had been married for ≥10 years. FSFI scores were significantly lowest in women with the lowest educational level and those aged ≥40 years. Conclusion It is important to ensure that people are equipped with accurate information. Sound knowledge can serve as the basis for informed decisions regarding the age of marriage and number of children desired. Furthermore, everyone, not just women, should be aware of the adverse sexual effects associated with long marriages and the age-related declines in sexual activity. Accordingly, women can achieve better sexual satisfaction.

In fact autoantibodies are immunoglobulins against self-antigens that are known as endogen antigens. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an occasion that the body begins a fight against its own cells and organs. There are different types of autoantibodies that have been identified in recent years. The most familiar is anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA). They are created against cell nuclei, and one of the methods used for its detection and its pattern determination is indirect immunofluorescence test (IIF). IIF was used for that purpose in our study, and concluded that ANA positivity rate was higher in female patients than the male ones, where ANA was positive in 36.1% of the male patients and 48.2% of female patients. Also, the most frequent ANA patterns in SLE patients were speckled pattern, where 21.6% & 41.3% of maleand female patients, respectively, have speckled pattern of ANA.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a prototypic multisystem autoimmune disease with a vast spectrum of clinical presentations including almost all body organs and tissues. The incidence of lupus has tripled in the last 40 years, mainly due to the improved diagnosis. For more than 60 years the presence of autoantibodies in patients with SLE has been known. A great effort is being made for understanding the diagnostic, pathogenic and prognostic meaning of these autoantibodies. The study demonstrated the significance of autoantibodies test in Egyptian SLE patients. The results showed that 93.3% of patients have positive ANA test, 90% have positive anti-dsDNA. Anti-Sm antibodies were in 40% and 49.3% of patients have positive anti-nucleosome antibody test. Also, 30.6% of patients deve-loped a positive anti-histone test & 26% have positive anti-ribosomal test. Anti-phospholipids antibodies were found in 44.6% of patients. Levels of C3 & C4 (0.552±0.43 & 0.125±0.12, respectively) were lower than that of control group (1.2±0.35 & 0.42±0.54 for C3 & C4, respectively).
