The cultural elements that define the identity of an ethnic group, are really important for its preservation through the ages. Language, traditions, costumes, dances, as parts of the cultural heritage, have a crucial role in it. Pontic Greeks, belong to a minority group that came to Greece after 1923. They struggled to stand on their feet again, and preserve their unique cultural characteristics. Cuisine, as an important aspect of our everyday life, is easily conveyed from one to another. In this thesis, we examine the Pontic cuisine, as an element of the intangible cultural heritage and due to its importance regarding the preservation of the Pontic identity. The most original recipes of Pontic cuisine, were gathered in their primarily form, through an interview with a local expert. Then they were digitized and transcribed in Omeka database. Further data were attributed in the Dublin Core metadata scheme in that database. Finally, the main discussion was focused on how preserving culinary traditions can help to preserve history and cultural identity altogether.

Examensarbetet undersöker Borlänge kommuns kulturarv och analyserar detta genom authorized heritage discourse. I arbetet studeras kommunala planeringsdokument så som översiktsplan och kulturmiljöplan samt den digitala besöksguiden Visit Dalarna och Borlänges kommuns respons på utnämningen till Sveriges fulaste stad. Undersökningen visar att kulturarvet har en liten roll i kommunens planeringsdokument och att det både i dessa och i besöksnäringen primärt är äldre och mer traditionella arv som är utvalt. Detta beror troligtvis på att staden, bland annat till följd av dess unga ålder, inte värdesätter mer samtida miljöer som kulturarv och ser kulturarvet som en tillgång i regional utveckling samt att besöksnäringen väljer ut kulturarv som ska tilltala nationell och internationell turism vilket resulterar i kulturarv som resonerar mer med den kollektiva identiteten Dalarna mer än den lokala säregna identiteten., The thesis examines Borlänge municipality's cultural heritage and analyzes it through the authorized heritage discourse. By studying municipal planning documents as well as the digital visitors guide Visit Dalarna and Borlänge municipality's response to the designation as Sweden's ugliest city, the thesis shows that cultural heritage has a small role in the municipality's planning documents and that both in these and in the tourismindustry it is primarily older and more traditional heritage that is selected. This is probably due to the fact that the city does not value more contemporary environments as cultural heritage and that the city do not see cultural heritage as an asset in regional development. The tourism industry selects cultural heritage that should appeal to national and international tourism, which results in cultural heritage that resonates more with the collective identity Dalarna more than the local identity.

The present study examines r/WitchesVsPatriarchy, a subreddit hosted on the popular social media platform Reddit, which centres around the themes of women and witchcraft. This thesis employs a mixed methods approach to investigate various aspects of the subreddit. A critical discourse analysis is conducted in conjunction with a netnographic study. Content that is being analysed consists of a forum thread where users get to describe what witchcraft means to them, an introductory post written by the moderators of the subreddit, as well as content posted to the site by other members. The content that was posted was sorted into five different categories: uplifting content, crafts and marketplace, memes and humour, political content, and magic and rituals. The analysis concludes that the r/WitchesVsPatriarchy community exhibits a distinct feminist undertone, specifically embracing the principles of fourth wave feminism. Furthermore, it also reveals characteristics associated with subcultures. The role of witchcraft is analysed and what way the users engage with it. Within this context, witchcraft is predominantly perceived as a tool for self-care and empowerment, rather than being strictly associated with religious or magical beliefs. Notably, the majority of users express scepticism regarding the magical aspects of witchcraft. Instead, witchcraft is seen as a tool used for empowerment and even as a symbol for feminism. Regarding subculture theory, the community can be seen as a part of a larger subculture where members use witchcraft for non-religious reasons. Various forms of aspects relating to subculture theory, such as shared identities, sacred objects, resistance, and marginalization. The thesis contends that this witchcraft community inherently encompasses a feminist dimension, whereby users harness feminist and political connections with witchcraft to empower both themselves and the broader community. Human Trafficking, also known as Trafficking in Persons, or Modern-Day Slavery, is a multibillion-dollar industry that consumes millions of individuals from diverse social, cultural, racial, national, or gender backgrounds. Human trafficking can take many forms: labor, organ, and sex trafficking. It is a crime where people are treated as objects, goods, and commodities, becoming subjects to mental and physical abuse. To this day, women and children are the ones receiving the most attention when talking about this crime, for men are neglected and overlooked due to socially constructed gender roles. However, male trafficking victims are often overlooked and under-researched but are just as subjected to physical, forced labor, sexual abuse, or any other form of trafficking as female human trafficking victims. Therefore, this paper aims to provide an introduction to male trafficking victims through the lenses of structural violence, masculinity, (mis-) recognition, and governance theories. Despite an existing focus on female trafficking victims, this study endeavors to draw upon the experiences of male trafficking victims. Lastly, acknowledging male trafficking victims could help raise awareness about the main issue and work towards its complete abolishment. Most importantly, it can help break down stereotypes that are circulating around human trafficking and gender roles.

Having heritage can be a challenge and a benefit for the local community. But, when the time comes to change it or implement tourism, it can become tricky. This case study of Montivilliers, a town in Normandy, France, will go through the different interactions between the different actors within the community and the challenges and benefits that come from the decisions made on the different heritages throughout the last decades. With interviews from the local community, this thesis invites you to take a deep into the perceptions and the mindsets of this community on their heritages and tourism implementation.

Hur bidrar reklamfilmer till att producera och reproducera klimatdiskurser i samhället? Genom att undersöka tre svenska reklamfilmer som marknadsför elbilar syftar studien till att öka förståelsen för hur reklam samspelar med allmänhetens åsikter om miljöfrågor. De aktuella bilmärkena är Kia, Volkswagen och Volvo. Utifrån teoretiska perspektiv om grön kapitalism, gröna utopier och industriell fatalism strävar studien efter att avslöja de diskurser som är aktuella i reklamfilmerna, samt att avslöja de strategier som fordonsindustrin använder för att positionera elbilar som lösning på klimatkrisen. Studien använder en kritisk multimodal diskursanalys för att analysera reklamfilmernas visuella, auditiva och textuella element. Resultaten erbjuder värdefulla insikter för marknadsförare, beslutsfattare och forskare som är intresserade av samspelet mellan reklam och hållbara diskurser, samt bidrar till fältet för miljökommunikation., How do commercials contribute to producing and reproducing climate discourses in society? By examining three Swedish commercials that market electric cars, the study aims to increase the understanding of how advertising interacts with the public's views on environmental issues. The car brands are Kia, Volkswagen and Volvo. Based on theoretical perspectives on green capitalism, green utopias and industrial fatalism, the study aims to reveal the discourses that are embedded in the commercials, as well as to reveal the strategies that the automotive industry uses to position electric cars as a solution to the climate crisis. The study uses a critical multimodal discourse analysis to analyze the commercials' visual, auditory and textual elements. The results offer valuable insights for marketers, policy makers and researchers interested in the interplay between advertising and sustainability discourses, as well as contributing to the field of environmental communication.

This study investigates the relationship between environmental game sounds and arousal level, looking to see if/how it affects player action. Previous research has shown that music evoking different levels of arousal affect player lap time performance of a racing game. For this study a computer game was created containing two levels, one with high arousal environmental sounds, and another with low arousal environmental sounds. The two levels were in different environments but had the same task, which was to place specific objects in their corresponding box, with the same color. The amount of time it took for subjects to finish the game under each sonic condition was the data of greatest interest. The results showed no significant difference between subjects elapsed times. However, a significant difference could be seen of how subjects perceived the energy level between the two levels in consideration to the sounding environment. Having this information when designing environmental sounds for a game could be something to think about and use when sound designers make decisions about player perceptibility and where to direct the player mindset to.

Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka likvärdigheten i geografiprov inom området väder och klimat. I uppsatsen har likheter och olikheter undersökts mellan proven, samt jämförts med de nationella proven, och undersökt hur de ställer sig mot kursplanen. Metoden som tillämpades i studien bestod av en kvantitativ metod genom innehållsanalys där prov samlats in från SO- lärare i årskurserna 7-9, och via en innehållsanalys jämfört och analyserat dessa prov. Antalet prov som samlades in var sju stycken. Resultatet av studien var att likvärdigheten i proven var liten då det skiljde sig mycket angående det innehåll som lärarna förväntade sig utav sina elever, svårighetsgraden på proven skiljde sig mycket, samt att få prov hade liknande frågor innehållsmässigt som nationella proven. Majoriteten av proven var i linje med kursplanens mål. Proven hade en gemensam fråga som ställdes, samt några få frågor som liknande varandra. Annars var olikheterna i proven det som var störst

Många kulturhistoriskt värdefulla gröna miljöer riskerar idag att exploateras i samband med förtätning och ökad bebyggelse. Avsaknaden av långsiktiga planer, noggranna studier och inventeringar av dessa miljöer bidrar till bevarandeproblematiken och osäkerheten kring deras värden. Det räcker inte att försöka fastställa dessa värden inför samrådshandlingar, då är det som regel alldeles för sent.

If the 1970s were marked by the policy on multiculturalism adopted by Pierre Trudeau, the Quebec question was approached with caution against a backdrop of claims for the sovereignty of this province. This question did not only concern domestic politics, but also arose on the international level, Quebec having been associated, for example, with the beginnings of the organization of Francophonie after the treaty of Niamey (20 March 1970). The objective of this contribution is to analyze the way in which Brian Mulroney himself perceived this positioning of Canada in the Francophonie to avoid on the one hand the delegitimization of the multiculturalist policy initiated in the 1970s and recognize on the other hand the cultural specificity of the province of Quebec. Based on the study of Brian Mulroney’s memoirs and on methodologies from discourse analysis, the findings show that the author has an ethos of reconciliation, concerned with finding a Canadian identity deeply attached to the Commonwealth and the Francophonie. This ethos is antithetical to that of Pierre Trudeau, whose political and diplomatic actions are judged negatively by Brian Mulroney. Positioning on the Francophone question is at the heart of this fundamental disagreement, which at the same time explains Brian Mulroney’s new diplomatic action in favor of a more political Francophonie and in favor of new constitutional agreements to correct Pierre Trudeau’s conception of multiculturalism., Si les années 1970 ont été marquées par la politique de multiculturalisme adoptée par Pierre Trudeau, la question québécoise a été abordée avec prudence sur fond de revendications de souveraineté de cette province. Cette question n’a pas seulement concerné la politique intérieure, mais s’est également posée sur le plan international, le Québec ayant été associé, par exemple, aux débuts de l’organisation de la Francophonie après le traité de Niamey (20 mars 1970). Cet ethos s’oppose à celui de Pierre Trudeau, dont les actions politiques et diplomatiques sont jugées négativement par Brian Mulroney. Le positionnement sur la question francophone est au cœur de ce désaccord fondamental, qui explique en même temps la nouvelle action diplomatique de Brian Mulroney en faveur d’une francophonie plus politique et en faveur de nouveaux accords constitutionnels pour corriger la conception du multiculturalisme de Pierre Trudeau.

C’est le cas du dialogue initié par Natasha Kanapé Fontaine et de Deni Ellis Béchard évoquant le racisme et l’ignorance de l’histoire des Premières Nations dont celle de la nation innue. En s’inscrivant dans une tradition épistolaire classique, Natasha Kanapé Fontaine et Deni Ellis Béchard s’adressent à un destinataire québécois en lui proposant de reconsidérer l’histoire du Québec et du Canada en prenant en compte l’héritage de la nation innue. Cet échange de lettres prend l’allure d’une conversation vivante et est utilisée comme une forme de didactisation des débats de la Commission de vérité et réconciliation du Canada sur les abus systématiquement commis dans les pensionnats. Cette Commission a rendu son rapport en 2015 peu avant la parution de Kuei, je te salue en pointant les racines d’un racisme institutionnalisé. This is the case of the dialogue initiated by Natasha Kanapé Fontaine and Deni Ellis Béchard dealing with racism and ignorance of the history of the First Nations, including that of the Innu nation. By connecting to a classic epistolary tradition, Natasha Kanapé Fontaine and Deni Ellis Béchard invite Quebec people to reconsider the history of their country by taking into account the legacy of the First Nations. This exchange of letters takes the form of a lively conversation and is used as a form of didactization of the debates of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada on the systematic abuses committed in residential schools. This Commission issued its report in 2015 shortly before the publication of Kuei, My Friend by pointing out the roots of institutionalized racism. While indigenous literature undoubtedly asserts itself as an act of cultural survival, it seems that this dialogue is more inhabited by the creation of empathy. Using the methods of nonviolent communication, the article analyzes the way in which this work strengthens intercommunity relations in Québec from the perspective of intercultural pedagogy. The article focuses on the editorial peritext, the musicality of the dialogue made up of chorus, refrains and comments with the discovery of the last letters. What is the contract offered to the reader by both protagonists in the twenty-six letters? Retravailler ses théories au carrefour de l’Antiquité et de la modernité est un pari réussi et assumé dans l’ouvrage coordonné par Emilio Zucchetti et Anna Maria Cimino qui, dès le titre, joue sur la polysémie de l’expression gramscienne « ancien monde » renvoyant à la fois au monde idéologiquement en train de disparaître et à l’Antiquité comme période-clé pour comprendre les transformations sociales et historiques contemporaines. Cet ouvrage pointe à juste titre la possibilité d’une double lecture des Cahiers de prison avec d’une part la réflexion générale sur les circonstances conduisant à une hégémonie sociale et d’autre part une lecture historique et nécessaire de l’Antiquité.

From November 17, 2018, to March 5, 2020, the yellow vests movement resulted in the repetition of several slogans in the demonstrations, in particular the affirmation of the acronym RIC for citizen initiative referendum. This slogan has officially become one of the main symbols of this movement, with debates on the uses of the referendum. However, since the beginning of the 1990s, the request for a referendum has been the subject of several laws in France on the inclusion of citizens in local life with new instruments of participation such as the local referendum, the petition and neighborhood councils. This series of laws did not prevent an increasingly strong demand for the institutionalization of a right of popular initiative. How can this recurrent demand be analyzed in the French public space? Why is there a lexical creativity in the political discourse when it comes to instruments of direct democracy? The hypothesis of the chapter is that the creation of the acronym RIC responds to a diversion operated by the discourse of the government. The study of a corpus of 7,403 texts from the French press between 1990 and 2020 provides an understanding of the changes in the creation of the acronym from the period when the laws of participation were gradually institutionalized until the appearance of the yellow vests movement., Du 17 novembre 2018 au 5 mars 2020, le mouvement des gilets jaunes s'est traduit par la reprise de plusieurs slogans dans les manifestations, notamment l'affirmation de l'acronyme RIC pour référendum d'initiative citoyenne. Ce slogan est officiellement devenu l'un des principaux symboles de ce mouvement, avec des débats sur les usages du référendum. Cependant, depuis le début des années 1990, la demande de référendum a fait l'objet de plusieurs lois en France sur l'inclusion des citoyens dans la vie locale avec de nouveaux instruments de participation tels que le référendum local, la pétition et les conseils de quartier. Cette série de lois n'a pas empêché une demande de plus en plus forte d'institutionnalisation d'un droit d'initiative populaire. Comment analyser cette demande récurrente dans l'espace public français ? Pourquoi y a-t-il une créativité lexicale dans le discours politique lorsqu'il s'agit d'instruments de démocratie directe ? L'hypothèse du chapitre est que la création de l'acronyme RIC répond à un détournement opéré par le discours du gouvernement. Este eslogan se ha convertido oficialmente en uno de los principales símbolos de este movimiento, con debates sobre los usos del referéndum. Sin embargo, desde principios de los años 90, la petición de referéndum ha sido objeto en Francia de varias leyes sobre la inclusión de los ciudadanos en la vida local con nuevos instrumentos de participación como el referéndum local, la petición y las juntas vecinales. La hipótesis del capítulo es que la creación del acrónimo RIC responde a una desviación operada por el discurso del gobierno. El estudio de un corpus de 7.403 textos de la prensa francesa entre 1990 y 2020 permite comprender los cambios en la creación del acrónimo desde el periodo en que se institucionalizaron progresivamente las leyes de participación hasta la aparición del movimiento de los chalecos amarillos.

What is the purpose of Canadian Studies? This was the question that was investigated in 1975 by the Commission of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada to understand how the government and the universities could work together to strengthen a better understanding of the diversity of cultures in this country. At that time, the notion of area studies began to raise certain attention among scholars and for the government these studies would contribute to disseminating knowledge on the specificities of Canada. Most of this report is about the self-knowledge of Canada which means the way the Canadian universities and colleges covered the question of Canadian identity from a multidisciplinary perspective. There is also a section devoted to Canadian Studies abroad that updates some of the conclusions of the Massey Commission in 1951 on ‘the projection of Canada abroad’ (Symons, 1975, p. 246) which is one of the most important report on the relation between Canadian identity and culture., The project was founded by the grant of NORDPLUS Higher Education

Bernard Assiniwi wrote a complete novel on the history of the Beothuk based on ethnographic works. He paid tribute to the nation of the Beothuk with the novel illustrating a counter-narrative on this history, taking the point of view of the natives. The narrator is presented as a voice of ‘living memory’ pursuing the goals of the founder of the nation, Anin. The novel does not begin with contact with colonisers, the major part is about the precolonial history of the Beothuk. The spirit and the imaginary of the Beothuk are presented in the actions, the representations and the dreams of some of important characters for the Beothuk. Moreover, the specific gender relations of the Beothuk are underlined in the novel. By analysing the characteristics of how Assiniwi remembers the history of the Beothuk, the chapter shows how the author deplores the absence of deep contact between the Beothuk and the colonisers. Finally, the chapter explains the originality of the novel compared to ethnographic studies that were made on the Beothuk. The analysis of the novel reveals the self-perception of the history of the natives as the destiny of the Beothuk is highly representative of the devastating effects of colonialism on Native populations, even to the present day.

The challenge of this book in Open Access is to go beyond the realm of cultural diplomacy when it comes to outlining Canadian studies. Based on renewed research into the imaginary of the North, the book explores transnordic narrative spaces between Canada, the Nordic countries and the Baltic states. Although the book takes cultural studies as its theoretical basis, opposing a diplomatic perspective and arguing that there is a specificity to Canadian culture that requires the attention of the academic world, each chapter draws on theories and methods specific to the various fields of the humanities and social sciences concerned with addressing the narratives (understood in a broad sense and including visual narratives) of this northern space.

This special issue takes seriously the idea that “global climate change is [...] catastrophic for the human imaginary” (Colebrook 10) and focuses on contemporary narratives that nevertheless seek to imagine the end of the world. It includes articles that explore how these narratives question the significance of the human in a collapsingworld, how this resonates with current issues in ecocriticism and the environmental humanities and allows for an articulation of environmental scholarship with the contributions of collapse and apocalypse studies. The contributions to this special issue investigate a posthuman aesthetics in contemporary literature, which builds on,but mostly shifts Western and anthropocentric conceptions of collapse,and diverges from the apocalyptic tradition. In that sense, this special topic considers the posthumusalong with the posthuman, to think about what happens after death, where the posthumusrenegotiates the assemblage of chains of life between animals, plants and humans (Derrida 285). The issue also includes essays that engage with ethical concerns of apocalyptic narratives, as well as with their epistemological implications, where the presence or absence of human and nonhuman traces determines a specific knowledge and way of knowing in a collapsing world. Today the largest and most populous city in Southern Arabia, Sana’a has been continuously inhabited for at least 2,500 years. Situated in a fertile basin over two thousand meters above sea level, the city remained economically and politically important over millennia because it sits on a major communication axis linking the mountains and rich fertile valleys of larger Yemen with the Horn of Africa and the Indian Ocean. Considered the ancestral heartland of the Arabs, the recognized Islamic heritage of the city allowed it in 1984 to become a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its 14-meter-tall walls surrounding the inner core of the city, a maze of over 6000 still largely intact multi-story tower houses makes Sana’a unique in the world. Its famous skyline consists of family homes that are at least five, if not eight or nine stories high. Along with these homes, the diverse Muslim population was serviced by more than 100 mosques (and associated evkaf properties) and 14 communal baths (hammams), all built before the 11th century. Reflective of its continued importance to the larger region, the city has seen regular additions to its main administrative and religious studies infrastructure. For instance, the main gates outsiders use to enter Sana’a, the northern Bab al-Shaub and south-facing Bab Al-Yaman, date to the first Ottoman occupation in the 16th century. The highlight of the Islamic city, however, is the Great Mosque (originally built in 633), a short walk from the Bab Al Yaman. A magnificent amalgamation of architectural styles tracing back to the period of the prophet Muhammad, the Grand Mosque’s centrality to the development of Islam as a global religion is confirmed by archeological findings on its grounds and surviving scriptures found in its walls. This includes a famous, so-called Sana’a’ palimpsest, that scholars determine to be one of the oldest Quranic manuscripts. It conjoins non-Islamic fragments with early renditions of verses pre-dating the, Translation and final text in Turkish is not part of the original material submitted by author. Editors took liberty with author's original content, inserting references to Iran that contradicts the author's reflections, evident by the fact Iran was never mentioned in the final draft submitted to the editors in Istanbul.

Through #MeToo social media feminist digital grassroot activism, in tweets, threads, and groups, in petitions and in the intermedial debates following the hashtag, a girl took shape. This girl was constructed as vulnerable, ambitious, naïve, or duped and was central for bringing on feminist social change in policy and practice in the 2010’s. The figure faced intra-feminist critical questions about whiteness, heteronormativity, cis femininity, class, ability, and Western-ness. A few years later, this girl has magically disappeared from public debate. This article poses the question; Who was she, and what does her disappearance mean for future feminist activist struggles against sexism, sexual harassment, sexual violence, and rape, other discrimination and bullying in the workplace? The girl is analysed by considering the Swedish #MeToo petition #NärMusikenTystnar (#WhenThe MusicStops), a petition and hashtag that gathered narratives of sexism, sexual harassment, sexual violence, and rape on social media and presented them in the daily press in 2017. The article draws out both strengths and weaknesses of the girl as a figure for feminist digital activism. In the conclusion the case of the missing girl in 2023, and the possible impacts her disappearance may have on feminist digital activism, is discussed.

This photo essay highlights the perspectives of children in Mjølnerparken, a public housing neighbourhood targeted by interventions for social mix by the Danish state. Due to the ‘ghetto legislation’ of 2018, 60 percent of the residents will be relocated as their apartments are renovated and sold to a private investor. Drawing on the concepts of evictability (van Baar 2016), homing (Boccagni & Kusenbach 2020), and un-homing (Atkinson 2015), this essay illustrates how children use their neighbourhood and how their everyday life is affected by renovation and sale.

This thesis explores how professionals working with unaccompanied minors (UM) perceive the uniqueness of this group in relation to substance use and prevention. Findings from the study suggest that professionals’ perceptions of UM’s uniqueness could be divided into five themes: financial situation; age; contact persons and authorities; prolonged waits at the migration agency; and access to health care. Drug use among UM was either perceived to be a result of the difficult experiences they have lived through or something that only certain (deviant) youth engage in. How professionals perceived the vulnerability and oppression of UM correlated with the attempts and efforts they made in providing preventative work against drugs. In terms of treatment, it was perceived as UM either got into treatment more easily compared to others, or that they faced various barriers. It is suggested that the additional barriers may be increasingly more evident after the UM’s 18th birthday.

I denna uppsats undersöker jag hur tjejfotbollen iscensätts av spelare, tränare, föräldrar och andra i fotbollsspelande tjejers omgivning till vardags i ett lag för tjejer i yngre tonåren i Mellansverige. Studiens kunskapsmål är att synliggöra föreställningar om kön inom sporten. I studien framträder hur fotboll för tjejer görs i samhället i stort i övergripande diskurser om kvinnligt idrottande, och hur dessa föreställningar i händerna på tjejernas närmaste omgivning villkorar tjejers fotbollsspelande. Jag lyfter hur kulturella föreställningar och förväntningar om genusmässig lämplighet inom idrotten tar sig i uttryck genom maktutövanden i normaliseringsprocesser, och hur tjejer kan förstå sig själva som fotbollsspelare i relation till andra samt i relation till den egna kroppen. En övergripande strävan inom fotbollen verkar gå mot det maskulina fotbollsprojektet, genom vilket idrottsligt upplyfta ideal och beteenden stöps samhälleligt, kollektivt och individuellt. Fotbollen i denna undersökning utövas av tjejer vilket kommer med tillhörande föreställningar om vad tjejfotbollen förstås vara. En slutsats kring detta är att de som är aktiva inom fotbollen konstant pendlar mellan olika diskurser som styr dem åt motsatta genusmässiga riktningar och således ställer motsägelsefulla krav på dem. Resultatet inom tjejfotbollen är en blandning av implicita idrottsligt maskulina ideal och explicit anpassning till feminina intressen, och gäller både hur förbund, tränare och spelare individuellt och kollektivt iscensätter kvinnligt fotbollsspelande.

Dacapo Mariestad har i samarbete med Högskolan i Skövde och Västergötlands museum beviljats medel från Västra götalandsregionen för att skapa en guide för digitalt berättande. Detta är en del av ett långsiktigt arbete med att stötta kultur-, natur- och kulturarvsbranschen i regionen i hur man kan använda sig av berättandetekniker för att på olika sätt förmedla innehåll på ett sätt som lättare når ut och engagerar mottagare. Som ett sätt att tillvarata och sprida kunskap inom detta område har vi i detta dokument samlat ett antal exempel på sådana projekt och produktioner, förklarat vissa tekniska begrepp samt sammanfattat sådant som projektgruppen ser som återkommande goda råd inför liknande arbete., Denna guide har skapats av Dacapo Mariestad i samarbete med Högskolan i Skövde och Västegötlands museum med finansiering från Västra götalandsregionen.

This report is made by students at the International Master’s Programme in Ethnic and Migration Studies (EMS), Campus Norrköping, Linköping University (LiU). At the end of the first year of the Programme, students take the course “Critical Cases in Ethnic and Migration Studies” with Erik Berggren as Course Coor­dinator. In this course the students apply their knowl­edge and experiences in Ethnic and Migration studies to produce their own articles on a given theme. This year´s theme is “Migration and Democracy” sparked by recent moves towards more restrictive and punitive migration policies around the world, including Sweden. This development gives reasons to look into questions of democracy in connection to migration policy, at migrants (immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers) inclusion or exclusion from different realms of society, and, not least, if migrants, and immigrants, are seen as rights-bearing subjects or not. The articles engage with different aspects of migrant experiences, and democratic, social, and educational exclusions or inclusions. Many texts go beyond Sweden and Europe and look to South America. Some seek the voices of migrants themselves. Other articles deal with anti-immigrant policies and rhetoric, their structure and how they are rationalised. The International Master’s Programme in Ethnic and Migration Studies is a part of the Institute for Research in Migration, Ethnicity and Society (REMESO), at the Department Culture and Society (IKOS) at LiU. Access to clean and healthy water in households is a global concern. Although the value of water is recognised, human actions demonstrate the opposite. Uncontrolled consumption, increasing drylands, deterioration, and pollution of water sources are some manifestations of the human water footprint. These actions evidence a paradox of value, a discrepancy between the intention and the action of water care. To this extent, and to decipher this paradox, this research project was conducted through design where the systemic value of water was studied in the context of Swedish households. The central question was to identify what are those values, mindsets, norms, behaviours, and lifestyles associated with the use of freshwater in households. In addressing this question, theories such as social norms, behaviour, and systems, as well as local, regional, and global projects, were reviewed, and the behaviour was mapped with the help of open surveys, as well as with stakeholders involving a technical expert from government, design teachers and industry-connected designers with the intention of revealing the systemic value of water. As a result, two areas of the system emerged that are useful for guiding design efforts to reduce the intention-action gap. The first area focuses on mapping norms and behaviours with respect to value preferences and expectations. These norms and behaviours were organised into levels of product and service design and systemic, organisational, and social design. The second area identified twenty behavioural components that were grouped into four factors related to the functioning of motivation, education, information, and social relations that increase the water value gap., Postdoctoral position - Valuing Water: Designing norms and behaviours for water positive lives at home

This study is based on the websites of Swedish county museums. The purpose of the study is to investigate how the websites of the Swedish county museums convey their geography in the texts about the county museums' history, localization and their exhibitions. Part of the study's purpose is also to examine the county museums' similarities and differences based on the study's three questions. The study's chosen theory is website analysis, a theory that provides basic knowledge about what a website is and how websites use images and text. Website analysis has also been supplemented with Gillian Rose's thoughts on visual methods. Since Rose provides additional knowledge about visual representation, the visual in relation to text and knowledge about how to look at visual representation. The chosen theory is supplemented with two methods consisting of text analysis in relation to image analysis. These two methods have been chosen because the material consists of textual and visual expressions The study shows that the Swedish county museums depict different types of geographies, both within each issue and between the museums. Within the questions about the county museums' geographical history, the museums mainly refer to geographical dispersion and geographical relocations. In the texts on geographical localization, the museums mainly present visual representation in the form of maps together with descriptions, but also geographical dispersion and geographical spread. The question where the answers on the geographical aspect vary more is the survey on exhibitions. Here the museums reflect the regional environment, migration and a few the current climate crisis. A few museums are similar to each other either in the presentation of answers or how they convey their geography, which creates small groups of county museums that are similar to each other. However, the museums rarely resemble each other completely, which also creates a number of differences in how they present mat

This essay is about how a minority ethnic group, namely, assyrian/syrian immigrants have, or have not, assimilated and integrated into the swedish society. The ethnic group that came to Sweden relatively early, i.e. during but also earlier than the 1970s, came to Sweden when the county extended a helping hand to many refugees who have fled from war, oppression and economic crises. I investigate whether the ethnic group has been assimilated in Sweden and how they have established themselves in the country and whether or not the integration process has gone easier, or not, because of the groups´s habitus, i.e. life experiences, culture, mentality and habits. The people who have settled in the Middle East for several generations are an indigenous group of people who are known to be one of the first civilized societies and were located in ancient Mesopotamia so called “The assyrian empire”, and have therefore formed an ancient identity. For my last research question, i investigate how the ancient identity has been affected by migration , separation of the ethnic group ,mobility in several countries and how the participants of the study feels about their remaking of the identity. Will the ancient identity disappear, is a discussed question in the analysis.

Genom denna uppsats har jag undersökt hur rummen på tre verksamheter på Kulturhuset Stadsteatern kan förmedla möjligheter till barns subjektskapande. Syftet med min undersökning var att ta reda på hur dessa verksamheters rum är utformade och vad de erbjuder i sin verksamhet som kan bidra till att ett barns subjektskapande påverkas. Verksamheterna är Rum för barn, Tiotretton och Lava och de riktar sig till olika ålderskategorier. Jag ville även se hur rummen förändras om man förflyttar sig mellan dessa verksamheter och hur den transitionen förändrar förmedlandet av barns subjektskapande. För att få djupare förståelse för verksamheternas arbete intervjuades tre informanter som alla arbetar där. Det jag kom fram till i mitt resultat är att dessa tre verksamheter har flera aspekter gemensamt, men ännu mer som skiljer dem åt. På grund av detta kan barns subjektskapande påverkas på olika vis. Rummens utformning förändras beroende på verksamheten och det gör att andra typer av material, möbler och aktiviteter kommer i fokus. Informanternas reflektioner bidrog även till en djupare förståelse för hur de arbetar, hur platserna har tillkommit och hur de arbetar för att förbättra upplevelserna för barnen.

Teknisk utveckling ger oss nya sätt att skapa möjligheter att uppleva staden på fler sätt. Graffiti och street art är omdiskuterade ämnen i relation till stadsbyggnad och urbana rum, hur kan de bidra till stadsrummet på nya sätt genom att använda dessa nya tekniker och hur skulle det kunna se ut. Denna uppsats tar upp frågan om graffitis platsskapande egenskaper i en virtuell mijö.Genom litteraturstudier och praktikbaserad forskning samlar den information och forskning för att skapa en diskussion kring detta. Resultatet tyder på att det fortfarande är en relativt kompliceradprocess och därför inte tillgänglig för alla att skapa samt att de platsskapande egenskapergraffitimålande har inte går att jämföra med att konstruera AR. Som upplevelse är dock AR jämförbart med en graffitimålning, och har kanske än mer möjlighet för platsskapande.

Using forests as burial and ceremonial places is a long-standing cultural practice in Mozambique. However, this information is still not translated into land-cover and land-use maps. Thus the locations of these forests and their descriptions remain unknown. To address this gap in the knowledge, this paper presents the results of mapping 52 local heritage sites in Inhambane, and analysing land-cover changes of two locally protected forest patches. Results from spatiotemporal change analysis show that these patches experienced fewer disturbances in comparison to other areas of vegetation.

With a focus on the shifting use of the concept of the barbarian, Anna Albrektson positions the figure of Medea within the context of colonial expansion. Euripides labels Medea a barbarian, but this identity is pinned on Jason in several versions from the 1770s and 1780s, when a concomitant sentimental strategy enhances Medea’s position as woman and victim of male cruelty. The idea of the ‘ethical barbarian’ becomes a cultural commonplace within eighteenth-century literature. By the 1790s, however, Medea is translated once more into an ethnic barbarian in versions that abandon the Enlightenment idea of human universality. The interplay between Enlightenment discourses, colonial experiences, and aesthetic experimentations form the context for these often divergent representations of Medea from several European nations.

This book examines the dynamics of circulation between Francophone literary areas and the Swedish cultural landscape. French literature has an established position on the global book market and has proven to provide consistent cultural value to peripheral regions. Within this vast body of texts, literature written in French by authors born outside of France is increasing and claiming a space in global literary circulation. How can unequal conditions of circulation be investigated? How can we understand why some books remain invisible while others cross borders, get translated and receive media attention and reader acclaim in peripheral regions in non-francophone countries? By examining how francophone literature by authors born outside of France is transferred to Sweden, this publication explores contemporary practices that are at play in translation, mediation, and readings of francophone literature. It also examines how interactions between different peripheral regions affect global circulation of francophone literature. The inquiry includes identifications of specific authors that either are more prevalent or more invisible than others and why. The analyzes display the role and function of the editorial landscape, including translation and media reception, in determining the dissemination and impact of certain books over others. The book is intended for students and scholars with an interest in theories and methodological applications concerning the dynamics between central and peripheral spheres, and particularly the emerging issues related to transfers between peripheries, such as North Africa and Sweden., Cette étude porte sur la circulation, la médiation et l’interprétation des littératures francophones, circulant non plus vers le centre mais vers la périphérie. Dans ce livre, la Suède constitue un exemple de cas de périphérie non francophone à partir duquel les analyses sont menées. Ce point de départ a permis de reconsidérer la portée des littératures en provenance des aires géographiques francophones décentrées (dites périphériques) et de mettre en valeur les pratiques de négociation à l’œuvre par la périphérie non francophone. En évaluant la visibilité et la resémantisation de ces littératures d’une part, en dehors du centre et d’autre part, en dehors du système littéraire francophone, ce livre a apporté de nouvelles connaissances sur le fonctionnement du transfert littéraire des littératures francophones en dehors du système littéraire francophone. L’ambition de ce livre a permis ainsi de (re)définir le positionnement et le degré d’autonomie de la périphérie, tant suédoise que francophone, par rapport au centre parisien en étudiant les échanges littéraires entre la Suède et le système littéraire francophone. Pour atteindre cette finalité, cette recherche procède en trois étapes en s’inspirant du modèle tripartite de Bourdieu pour présenter a) la sélection de la littérature traduite du français en suédois et la diffusion de la littérature de langue française dans la presse journalistique b) les modalités de médiation avec lesquelles les agents culturels opèrent et c) les représentations de la lecture critique en œuvre dans les journaux. Ce projet axé autour de la production, de la médiation et de la réception des littératures francophones en Suède s’articule autour de quatre études majeures. The chapter discusses encounters between bears and the two 19th-century hunters Herman Falk and Llewellyn Lloyd. By taking both the hunter’s and the bear’s perspective into account, the 19th-century ambivalence towards hunting in general, and large carnivores in particular, is highlighted. Different forms of hunting have been categorised by anthropologist Garry Marvin, and this chapter utilises, as well as questions, these categories. From the bear’s perspective, hunting was probably experienced as traumatic and destructive. On the other hand, hunters also built relationships with individual animals, thus gaining knowledge about bears. A hunt sometimes went on for hours or days. The particular animal hunted may have been hunted before, and was known to the hunters. This allowed the hunters to gain a nuanced picture of the animals and to understand their lives. In this way, the perception of the bear grew from experiences that were shared by hunters and bears. Eventually, this alternative view of the bear entailed the relative protection of the animal in Sweden.

This paper focuses on the role of early twentieth-century department stores in creating, defining, and disseminating “modern” feminine ideals through photographic images. Powerful yet idiosyncratic examples of this phenomenon, the illustrated company albums of the Berlin department store Kaufhaus N. Israel will serve as a window into the intertwining development of cosmopolitan consumer culture and advertising, visual culture, and liberal progressivism in an era of rising nationalism and international tensions. Beginning in 1906 and culminating with the volumes for 1909, 1910 and 1913, the N. Israel publications employed an eclectic range of photographs depicting “new women” to promote the company brand. While paired with essays by known authors and cultural commentators, the pictures took a dominant role in communicating certain worldviews to the customers of the Berlin store. The paper draws on the methods of discourse analysis, arguing that N. Israel publications used reproduced photographs not only publicly to align the company and its owners with liberalism but to “market” feminism. The case of N. Israel exemplifies how department stores, as pioneers in the modern reproduction and mass proliferation of images, helped shape the public conversation surrounding gender roles – and in the Wilhelmine German case, defy the predominant cult of female domesticity and motherhood that pervaded even the women’s movement.

This article argues that, while the creation and publishing of comics can be seen as activism per se, comics can also be utilised in more direct activist contexts. It relates comics, feminisms and masculinities to climate activism by analysing two prominent examples from Sweden: the comics album Jag vill inte göra slut. Serier för klimatet, [I don’t want to break up. Comics for the climate] (2016), and the comics by Karolina Bång in Maskulinitet, genus och klimaträttvisa [Masculinity, gender and climate justice] (2021), produced by the organisation Jordens Vänner [Friends of the Earth Sweden]. The comics are analysed visually and verbally with regard to the specific masculinities they discuss – the industrial modernist who denies the crisis, the ecomodernist, who suggests unproductive, short-term solutions, and the ecological masculinity, including care for nature and for each other, working for equity, eradicating negative gender norms, reducing unfair consumption and taking action for climate justice. The comics frequently use humour, irony, and satire – and are linked to climate activism.

Purpose: This study aims to propose the four different typologies for understanding local information. Design/methodology/approach: This study applied a conceptual approach to analyze and clarify how the concept local information can be understood in wildly different ways. Furthermore, this study employed conceptual analysis of 36 studies. For the conceptual analysis, coding was applied to formulate and abstract four typologies for understanding local information with specific focus on the Thai cultural heritage setting. Findings: The four different typologies include local information as an array of different interpretations as diverse meanings of local, local information as cultural heritage, local information as subject of information management and situated local information. Research limitations/implications: This study mainly focuses relevant typologies for understanding local information in the Thai context. Originality/value: This study contributes and extends the literature in the local information field and the cultural heritage context. In addition, an eclectic strategy of using several alternative typologies for dealing with essentially contested concepts is suggested. This thesis studies how mínzú (ethnic) agency is effectuated through propaganda literature among Muslim minority cadres in the Yānqí Huí Autonomous County of the Xīnjiāng Uyghur Autonomous Region of North-West China in the 2010s. The aim is to understand to what extent and in what ways mínzú identification can have a socio-politically significant impact on the activities of mínzú cadres in a restrictive environment and in a medium where mínzú agency is controversial and difficult to implement. The thesis is motivated on the one hand by studies that presume the “monolithic” nature of cadres that speak the language of the Party-State, and on the other hand by studies that too readily presume that the invocation of Party-State orthodoxy is mere lip-service paid to authorities. The questions are approached by studying the implications that the cadre writers’ literary activities have on Huí mínzú identity in the context of the discourses that they invoke. In the process, national concerns are contrasted to mínzú concerns in order to evaluate and ascertain the intentional nature behind the invocation of mínzú concerns. The implications of the writers’ literary activities are identified by studying the role that they play in the discursive context of the literary Kāidū River magazine. The study finds that the discursive context can best be described as hybrid in nature, involving the three “sub” discourses of Neo-Confucian cosmology, Republican race theory, and Maoist thought transformation. The first revolves around a notion of cosmic truth, the second around the significance of mínzú or nations, and the third around the threats of and safeguards against ideological pollution. By employing this hybrid discourse of truth, the writers legitimized their texts as state orthodoxy. Gender bias in teaching materials may influence students’ development and contribute to social inequalities. This study investigates possible gender bias in a newly published English textbook series in Vietnam. Holding gender as a social construct, the research uses a multimodal critical approach to examine language and ideological systems. The results show despite some effort for gender equity, the making of textbooks in today's Vietnam is still affected by patriarchal Confucian values. Males inhabit bigger verbal space and have more social properties. Females are portrayed as less independent; their choices are more limited, and with less resources. Textbook author interviews show the writing was influenced by conscious and unconscious bias, but they agreed gender equality is important, although male domination beliefs still seem to be deeply ingrained in the society. This ethnographic study examines the multiple ways in which a vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 disease and infection is known in an academic research group in Sweden. This academic research group has been working to develop a vaccine since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. Theoretically, this study builds on a grounded theory methodological approach as re-worked by medical sociologist Adele Clarke in her 2005 work “Situational analysis”, as well as on studies of immunology and microbiology within anthropology, sociology, science and technology, and philosophy of science. The findings are generated mostly through interviews with scientists of the academic research group and through participant-observation of the group’s work during September 2020-April 2021. This thesis conceptualises the vaccine being developed by the research group as not one, but multiple objects of knowledge – the vaccine is namely known both as machinic and as a loved deity. These different knowledges of vaccine are constituted through different discursive practices in vaccine development work, and by differential relations between human and non-human actors including discourses that participate in these practices. These different knowledges of vaccine also entail different perspectives on whether the vaccine being developed by the research group is a solution for protecting people from COVID-19 disease.

Denna studie undersöker kunders totalt upplevda servicekvalitet gällande enfastighetsmäklare och hans eller hennes tjänster. Syftet är att undersöka det upplevda värdethos privatpersoner som har köpt eller sålt en privatbostad via en fastighetsmäklare. Även hurkunder utvärderar och fattar beslut i ett framtida val av fastighetsmäklare kommer attundersökas. Studien bygger på en så kallad gapanalys som är utformad av Parasuraman et al.(1985). Med hjälp av denna modell kan skillnader mellan förväntningar och den faktisktupplevda servicekvaliteten kunna mätas. Med denna undersökning vill vi identifiera de hinderoch förbättringar som krävs för att främja kompetens och kunskap inomfastighetsmäklarbranschen. Studien är baserad på en kvalitativ forskningsmetod därsemistrukturerade intervjuer har använts. Totalt har tio intervjuer genomförts, fem medsäljare och fem med köpare. Resultatet visade att kunder ville att fastighetsmäklaren blandannat skulle vara kommunikativ, besitta kunskap, ha en personlig kemi, vara professionell,trevlig, ärlig, trygg, tillmötesgående samt ge ett bra första intryck. Resultatet visade även påen markant skillnad i säljarnas respektive köparnas förväntningar där säljarna har mer fokuspå ärlighet, personkemi och bra slutpris, medan köparna lägger mer fokus vidfastighetsmäklarens kunnighet. Slutligen visar studien att det kan uppstå ett så kallat “gap”mellan förväntad och upplevd servicekvalitet beroende på om man har fått en positiv ellernegativ total upplevelse., This study investigates customers' overall perceived service quality regarding a real estateagent and his or hers services. The purpose is to examine the perceived value amongindividuals who have bought or sold a private residence through a real estate agent. The studyexplores how customers evaluate and make decisions in a future choice of real estate agent.The study is based on a so-called gap analysis developed by Parasuraman et al. (1985). Thismodel allows measuring the differences between expectations and the actual perceivedservice quality. Through this study, we aim to identify the barriers and improvementsrequired to promote competence and knowledge within the real estate brokerage industry.The study is based on a qualitative research method using semi-structured interviews. A totalof ten interviews were conducted, five with sellers and five with buyers. The results showedthat customers wanted the real estate agent to be communicative, knowledgeable, have apersonal chemistry, be professional, friendly, honest, trustworthy, accommodating, and makea good first impression. The results also revealed a significant difference in expectationsbetween sellers and buyers, with sellers placing more emphasis on honesty, personalchemistry, and a good final price, while buyers focused more on the agent's expertise. Finally,the study demonstrates that a "gap" can occur between expected and perceived service qualitydepending on whether one has had a positive or negative overall experience.
