We read with great interest the paper by Dong et al.[1] on the association between metabolic obesity and the progression of knee osteoarthritis (OA) in elderly community residents. Metabolic syndrome, its components, and knee osteoarthritis: the Framingham osteoarthritis study. Moreover, it would be interesting to explore whether findings in this study on knee OA may be generalized into other large-joint OA, including hip OA, and other OA-involve joints, such as hand OA or temporomandibular joint OA.[5] The authors defined participants with metabolic syndrome through blood tests that were drawn at baseline.
