The efficiency and feasibility of geothermal utilisation depends strongly on the characteristics and behaviour of the fluids that transfer heat between the geosphere and the engineered components of a power plant. Chemical and physical processes such as precipitation, corrosion, or degassing are induced by pressure and temperature changes, with potentially serious consequences for power plant operation and project economics. The EU Horizon 2020-funded project REFLECT aims to avoid such problems by collecting high-quality chemical, physical, and microbiological data at extreme salinities, pressures or temperatures and improving the understanding of kinetic processes through laboratory experiments. These data are presented in a European geothermal fluid atlas and implemented in predictive models in order to provide recommendations on how to best operate geothermal systems for a sustainable future.

With the globalization of markets and increasing competition in global markets, the attempts of organizations to survive in this market has increased and has resulted in the emergence of the philosophy of Supply Chain Management. There is uncertainty in the reliability of supply chain facilities for reasons such as natural disasters, terrorist attacks, labor errors, and weather conditions. Therefore, when making strategic decisions, the system will continue to operate with minimal damage. Over the course of this study, the uncertainty of supplier layers in the supply chain has been modeled. To meet that aim, the issue of supply chain, including producers, warehouses, suppliers and consumers are considered. To calculate the cost of breakdowns due to the non-functioning of distributors, the scenario-building method has been utilized. Finally, the desired model is solved with Gomez software and the results are presented. The result of the study demonstrate the efficiency of this model in the facility location decision-making in supply chains.

Abstract Engineered nanoparticles have enabled the development of novel uses, particularly in disease management. In this investigation, we synthesized and studied three distinct nanomaterials: solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNPs), chitosan nanoparticles (CSNPs), and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), either alone or loaded with two antifungals, nystatin, and fluconazole. The purpose of this study is to investigate the different properties of the produced nanomaterials, either alone or in combination with antifungals. Drug release studies revealed that about 55% from SLNPs, 43% from CSNPs and 97% from CNTs of nystatin drug were released at the longest time point assessed (12 h). In addition, about 89% from SLNPs, 84% from CSNPs and 81% from CNTs of fluconazole drug were released at the longest time point assessed (12 h). This research will expand the understanding of nanomaterials as a viable technique for the management of different fungal diseases that harm several agricultural crops.

The current study was performed to estimate the influence of topical application of 10% of Plantago major leaves extract (PMLE) on a healing process of contaminated excisional wound in local breed rabbits. Twenty adult local breed male rabbits were used. After the animals have generally anesthetized, two 2×2 cm full thickness wounds were created in thoracic region on right and left side (1wound/side) for each animal. Wounds on right side of animal were treated by topical irrigation with normal saline/daily, this consider as control (group A). While, left side wounds were treated by topical application of 10% PMLE ointment (once/day) that consider as treated (group B) dressing was used after each treatment for both groups. Wound healing was evaluated through macroscopic examination, wound contraction rate (WCR) assessment and histopathological examination. Results of macroscopic examination confirmed that PMLE has a role in acceleration healing when compared to control group. Global advancement in nursing is attributed mainly to western pioneers with negligible recognition of Rufaidah Al-Aslamia, who was the first Muslim nurse, and pioneer in Islamic nursing more than 1,400 years ago in Madinah (Medina, Saudi Arabia). She responded to the need for the provision of organized nursing care to injured soldiers in the Islamic battles during the time of Prophet Mohammed (Peace & Blessings Upon Him). The paucity of focus on Rufaidah Al-Aslamia triggered this scientific study to appraise her contributions and legacy as the pioneer of Islamic nursing. A qualitative, historical research inquiry was conducted using a research design that was exploratory, descriptive, explanatory, interpretive, and contextual within the constructivist paradigm. Data collection of literature was conducted by purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted in two parts, which is document analysis, and thematic and content analysis with the use of deductive, inductive and abductive logical reasoning. The results of topic themes related to nurse-, patient-, and system-focused activities are provided with the emerging themes including efficient organizer, effective communication, clinical practice teacher, community care, and spiritual care. The historical narrative is reconstructed using empirical data sources as part of the discussion that includes the biography of Rufaidah Al-Aslamia and a vivid comprehensive portrayal of the contributions and legacy of Rufaidah Al-Aslamia as the first Muslim nurse and the pioneer of Islamic nursing. Rufaidah Al-Aslamia menanggapi kebutuhan penyediaan asuhan keperawatan yang terorganisir untuk tentara yang terluka dalam pertempuran Islam pada masa Nabi Muhammad (SAW). Kurangnya fokus pada Rufaidah Al-Aslamia memicu studi ilmiah ini untuk menilai kontribusi dan warisannya sebagai pelopor keperawatan Islam. Penelusuran sejarah dengan pendekatan kualitatif dilakukan dengan menggunakan desain penelitian yang bersifat eksploratif, deskriptif, eksplanatif, interpretif, dan kontekstual dalam paradigma konstruktivis. Pengumpul-an data literatur dilakukan dengan purposive sampling. Analisis data dilakukan dalam dua bagian, yaitu analisis dokumen, dan analisis tematik dan isi dengan menggunakan penalaran logis deduktif, induktif dan abduktif. Hasil dari topik yang berkaitan dengan kegiatan yang berfokus pada perawat, pasien, dan sistem disajikan dengan tema-tema yang muncul termasuk penyelenggara yang efisien, komunikasi yang efektif, guru praktik klinis, perawatan komunitas, dan perawatan spiritual. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are currently popular porous materials with research and application value in various fields such as medicine and engineering. Aiming at the application of MOFs in photocatalysis, this paper mainly reviews the main synthesis methods of ZnMOFs and the latest research progress of Zn MOF-based photocatalysts to degrade organic pollutants in water, such as organic dyes. This nanomaterial is being used to treat wastewater and has proven to be very efficient because of its exceptionally large surface area and porous nature. The results show that Zn-MOFs are capable of high degradation of the above pollutants and over 90% of degradation was observed in publications. In addition, the reusability percentage was examined and studies showed that the Zn-MOF nanostructure has very good stability and can continue to degrade a high percentage of pollutants after several cycles. This review focuses on Zn-MOFs and their composites. First, the methods of synthesis and characterization of these compounds are given. Finally, the application of these composites in the process of photocatalytic degradation of dye pollutants such as methylene blue, methyl orange, crystal violet, rhodamine B, etc. is explained. HIGHLIGHTS The performance of Zn-MOFs enhanced photocatalytic activity by scavenging entire chemicals and water pollutants.; Zn-MOFs are capable of high degradation of the above pollutants and over 90% of degradation.; MOF nanostructure has very good stability and can continue to degrade a high percentage of pollutants after several cycles.;

In the process of this work, the Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) technique was used to deposit nanoparticles of pure titanium oxide (TiO2) onto a glass substrate at temperatures ranging from 100 to 400 degrees Celsius. This experiment made use of a Nd: YAG laser that had its frequency-doubled. The laser had a wavelength of 532 nanometers and an average laser strength of 800 millijoules. To explore the optical properties, transmittance spectrometry measurements were carried out for both visible and ultraviolet wavelengths. These measurements were carried out. The results of the optical transmittance test showed that it was more than 80 percent, which indicates that it is suitable for use in applications involving solar cells. The research was conducted on a number of optical constants, including the refractive index, the absorption coefficient, and the attenuation coefficient, and the values of these optical constants were determined. The value of the refractive index was found to be 2.49 when measured at a temperature of 400 degrees Celsius and a wavelength of 550 nanometers. Additionally, it was feasible to calculate the density of the titanium dioxide coating, which came out to be 3.6881 grams per cubic centimeter after the calculation was complete. The use of a numerical equation was utilized to ascertain the connection that exists between density and base temperature. It is an empirical equation that may be employed in the process of calculating the density of the components that are being used, and it has the potential to do so successfully. This equation is one of a kind since it was produced via the use of a theoretical computer program, and it is specific to the results that were obtained from the research.

Abstract Concanavalin A (ConA), the most studied plant lectin, has been known as a potent anti-neoplastic agent for a long time. Since initial reports on its capacity to kill cancer cells, much attention has been devoted to unveiling the lectin's exact molecular mechanism. It has been revealed that ConA can bind to several receptors on cancerous and normal cells and modulate the related signaling cascades. The most studied host receptor for ConA is MT1-MMP, responsible for most of the lectin's modulations, ranging from activating immune cells to killing tumor cells. In this study, in addition to studying the effect of ConA on signaling and immune cell function, we will focus on the most up-to-date advancements that unraveled the molecular mechanisms by which ConA can induce autophagy and apoptosis in various cancer cell types, where it has been found that P73 and JAK/STAT3 are the leading players. Moreover, we further discuss the main signaling molecules causing liver injury as the most significant side effect of the lectin injection. Altogether, these findings may shed light on the complex signaling pathways controlling the diverse responses created via ConA treatment, thereby modulating these complex networks to create more potent lectin-based cancer therapy. There are no known drugs or drug combinations that promote substantial central nervous system axonal regeneration after injury. We used systems pharmacology approaches to model pathways underlying axonal growth and identify a four-drug combination that regulates multiple subcellular processes in the cell body and axons using the optic nerve crush model in rats. We intravitreally injected agonists HU-210 (cannabinoid receptor-1) and IL-6 (interleukin 6 receptor) to stimulate retinal ganglion cells for axonal growth. We applied, in gel foam at the site of nerve injury, Taxol to stabilize growing microtubules, and activated protein C to clear the debris field since computational models predicted that this drug combination regulating two subcellular processes at the growth cone produces synergistic growth. Physiologically, drug treatment restored or preserved pattern electroretinograms and some of the animals had detectable visual evoked potentials in the brain and behavioral optokinetic responses. Morphology experiments show that the four-drug combination protects axons or promotes axonal regrowth to the optic chiasm and beyond. We conclude that spatially targeted drug treatment is therapeutically relevant and can restore limited functional recovery.

IntroductionNeurons transport mRNA and translational machinery to axons for local translation. After spinal cord injury (SCI), de novo translation is assumed to enable neurorepair. Knowledge of the identity of axonal mRNAs that participate in neurorepair after SCI is limited. We sought to identify and understand how axonal RNAs play a role in axonal regeneration.MethodsWe obtained preparations enriched in axonal mRNAs from control and SCI rats by digesting spinal cord tissue with cold-active protease (CAP). The digested samples were then centrifuged to obtain a supernatant that was used to identify mRNA expression. We identified differentially expressed genes (DEGS) after SCI and mapped them to various biological processes. We validated the DEGs by RT-qPCR and RNA-scope.ResultsThe supernatant fraction was highly enriched for mRNA from axons. Using Gene Ontology, the second most significant pathway for all DEGs was axonogenesis. Among the DEGs was Rims2, which is predominately a circular RNA (circRNA) in the CNS. We show that Rims2 RNA within spinal cord axons is circular. We found an additional 200 putative circRNAs in the axonal-enriched fraction. Knockdown in primary rat cortical neurons of the RNA editing enzyme ADAR1, which inhibits formation of circRNAs, significantly increased axonal outgrowth and increased the expression of circRims2. Using Rims2 as a prototype we used Circular RNA Interactome to predict miRNAs that bind to circRims2 also bind to the 3’UTR of GAP-43, PTEN or CREB1, all known regulators of axonal outgrowth. Axonally-translated GAP-43 supports axonal elongation and we detect GAP-43 mRNA in the rat axons by RNAscope.DiscussionBy enriching for axonal RNA, we detect SCI induced DEGs, including circRNA such as Rims2. Ablation of ADAR1, the enzyme that regulates circRNA formation, promotes axonal outgrowth of cortical neurons. We developed a pathway model using Circular RNA Interactome that indicates that Rims2 through miRNAs can regulate the axonal translation GAP-43 to regulate axonal regeneration. We conclude that axonal regulatory pathways will play a role in neurorepair.

Photolysis was employed to produce titanium dioxide (TiO2) with exposed (001) facets, which were then modified by incorporating reduce graphene oxide (rGO) sheets at (1, 3 and 5) wt.%.The chemical composition, optical properties, morphology, and electrochemical behavior of both the pure and composite nanomaterials were analyzed. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy techniques confirmed the formation of the anatase phase of TiO2 in the samples. The Debye Scherrer method was utilized to estimate the size of the particles. It was observed that the particle size decreased as the concentration of rGO increased; at 5 wt% rGO, the size was 11 nm. The morphology of the rGO/TiO2 nanocomposite was analyzed with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) which showed that TiO2 nanoparticles were dispersed on the surface of the rGO sheets. The analysis of the X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS) revealed that bonding of TiO2 with rGO occurred through the formation of Ti-C and Ti-O-C bonds. The results obtained from the diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) showed a decrease in band gap upon an increase in rGO concentration. Moreover, confirmation was obtained regarding the reduction of recombination carriers through the photoluminescence (PL) spectrum. The results indicated that the prepared nanocomposite had a high number of oxygen vacancies. The photodegradation mechanism of congo red dye under sunlight was studied by Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-Mass) and scavenger effect. The photodegradation of congo red dye (CR) utilizing TiO2, both pure and incorporated with rGO, was observed under normal conditions in the presence of sunlight. The study revealed that the optimal condition for achieving maximum photodegradation of CR dye was pH = 7, 100 min, 50 ppm initial CR dye concentration and 10 mg of catalyst dosage. The photodegradation data illustrated that 5 wt% rGO doped TiO2 exhibits higher efficiency than other 3; 1 wt% rGO and pure TiO2. Finally, the improving breakdown of CR dye using direct sunlight showed high efficiency without leaving behind any secondary intermediates.

This abstract provides a review highlighting the significant role of medicinal plants in the treatment of various diseases globally. To explore this, a questionnaire was conducted in Baghdad to inquire whether individuals resorted to using medicinal plants when experiencing illness. The objective was to gain insights into the efficacy of medicinal plants when used as a form of treatment. Findings from studies conducted worldwide consistently indicate that medicinal plants are widely utilized due to their positive outcomes and cost-effectiveness compared to chemical drugs. Furthermore, ongoing research on the effects of medicinal plants has resulted in the development of novel therapies for numerous chronic ailments, including Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, hypertension, peptic ulcers, IBS syndrome, and other acute and chronic conditions.

In actual operation conditions, the structural parts of automotive, aerospace and other significant industrial applications undergo the multi axial fatigue loading with non-proportionality states. Fiber metal laminates (known as FML) are the best options to manufacture these structural parts. The current study examines the effects of a specific condition of multi-axial fatigue loadings (repeated tension with static shear stresses) on the behaviors of crack growth and delamination in GLARE specimens (abbreviated of glass laminates aluminum reinforced epoxy). Analytical model with idea of maximum tangential stress criterion modification has been adopted to represent the non-proportionality state of fatigue loading. Paris equation, equivalent stress intensity factor range, fiber-bridging effects and delamination shape were included in this model. The current idea was compared with a previous idea that depends on the principal stresses in representation of non-proportional multi-axial fatigue loadings. Specimens have coding GLARE_2A 2/1 were fabricated by VARTM technique (vacuum assisted resin transfer molding technique). Special treatments have been done on the aluminum surfaces before specimen fabrication to increasing delamination resistance. Novel fatigue apparatus was manufactured to guarantee apply the under study conditions for multi axial fatigue loading and to introduce experimental investigation of crack and delamination growths in GLARE specimens. The obtained results of the current idea were in a considerable agreement with that of the previous idea of the principal stresses. The maximum deviations between analytically extracted results were less than 1% for crack growth, 5.4% for bridging stress, 4.8% for crack opening and 6.3% for delamination growth. Experimentally, the measured results have been compared with analytical results for the purpose of validation. Acceptable matching between results with maximum difference of 7.65% was the important outcome of this study.

In the current era of rapid information expansion, text summarization has become vital for comprehending textual material. Physically condensing large textual volumes is challenging for humans, especially considering the vast amount of text content available online. Text summarization is an active field of research that focuses on summarizing large texts into shorter versions while retaining important information. The writing can be categorized as either extractive or abstractive regarding its summary. Extractive summarizing methods function by determining the significance of individual sentences within a text and selecting them to form a summary. This approach relies solely on sentences extracted from the original text. Abstractive summarization methods aim to rephrase significant information. Text summarization can be achieved by many deep learning methodologies, including fuzzy logic, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), transformers, neural networks, and reinforcement learning. Over the past three years, there has been a modest shift in the research focus on text summarizing. Current developments aim to increase the efficiency of text summarization and attain optimal accuracy. This study aims to examine the various methods of using deep learning for text summarization and identify the current deep learning developments.

Cryptography and Steganography are two main components of information security. Utilizing encryption and Steganography to establish many layers of protection is a commendable approach. Our main objective of this paper is to build an integrated method of securely transmitting data through a combination of cryptography and Steganography. Cryptography and Steganography are two common methods of secretly transmitting information. RC4 is used in this paper to change information from plaintext to cipher, and then cipher text is integrated into the image by Least Significant Bit (LSB). The results are defined in terms of the processing time, the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), and mean square error (MSE). The experimental results showed the stego image’s acceptable quality and combining the two techniques provides additional security in the original Steganography.

The soil water characteristics curve (SWCC) demonstrates a link between soil moisture content and suction. The SWCC is almost treated as an index parameter in unsaturated soil. The soil permeability and shear strength can be linked to SWCC. SWCC is established using filter paper for the wetting path. This paper compares SWCC for both cases stress-dependent and no stress (reference) in the wetting path. The samples of soil are brought from Al-Najaf City with a gypsum content of 29%, Iraq. The stress-SWCC is studied using a modified Oedometer cell with controlled water and air entrance to apply a specific matric suction. While the reference SWCC is estimated using the filter paper method. Matric suction is conducted at a range of pressures from 90 kPa to 0 kPa. The tests use three net normal stresses of 100, 200, and 400 kPa. The results show that there are decreasing values of the SWCC with increasing normal stresses. An interesting result is that this decrease is high and has zero matric suction. The water entry value (WEV) with the most significant value of the water entry change is represented by the matric suction of 50 kPa.
