This paper presents the failure analysis of the rocker arm, which experienced abrasive wear failure. History and chronology will be given to identify what factors triggered the disappearance. Visual examination and micro-hardness Vickers tests have been carried out to collect evidence to prove the hypothesis. The design evaluation in stress and fatigue characteristic conditions has been simulated using FEM-based software. All data have been analyzed and then assembled into one complete story to conclude. This paper presents a detailed fractographic and stress study to assess the causes of failure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
