We study a multi-component dark matter model where interactions with the Standard Model are primarily via the Higgs boson. The model contains vector-like fermions charged under $SU(2)_W \times U(1)_Y$ and under the dark gauge group, $U(1)^\prime$. This results in two dark matter candidates. A spin-1 and a spin-1/2 candidate, which have loop and tree-level couplings to the Higgs, respectively. We explore the resulting effect on the dark matter relic abundance, while also evaluating constraints on the Higgs invisible width and from direct detection experiments. Generally, we find that this model is highly constrained when the fermionic candidate is the predominant fraction of the dark matter relic abundance., 22 pages, 9 figures, published version, updated text and references

MEDICAL informatics ,INTERNET in medicine ,WORLD Wide Web ,TECHNOLOGICAL innovations ,WEB design - Abstract
The transformative power of the Internet on all aspects of daily life, including health care, has been widely recognized. These transformations reveal opportunities realized, the promise of future advances, and the problems created by the penetration of the World Wide Web for both individuals and for society at large. Health Web Science explores the role of the Web as it drives discussions, technologies, policies, and solutions related to health. We also examine the impact of the Web's health-related uses on the design, structure and evolution of the Web itself. The orientation of Health Web Science, compared to related research domains, motivates innovation in Web technology and better utilization of the Web for communication, collaboration, information access and sharing, remote sensing, and even remote treatment. - Abstract
The largest mass component of the universe is a longstanding mystery to the physics community. As a glaring source of new physics beyond the Standard Model, there is a large effort to uncover the quantum nature of dark matter. Many probes have been formed to search for this elusive matter; cultivating a rich environment for a phenomenologist. In addition to the primary probes -- colliders, direct detection, and indirect detection -- each with their own complexities, there is a plethora of prospects to illuminate our unanswered questions. In this work, phenomenological techniques for studying dark matter and other possible hints of new physics will be discussed. This work primarily focuses on the use of Simplified Models, which are intended to be a compromise between generality and validity of the theoretical description. They are often used to parameterize a particular search, develop a well-defined sense of complementarity between searches, or motivate new search strategies. Explicit examples of such models and how they may be used will be the highlight of each chapter.

VACCINATION promotion , *VACCINE hesitancy , *MEDICAL personnel , *VACCINE effectiveness , *VACCINE safety - Abstract
Healthcare providers' (HCPs') beliefs and practices regarding vaccination influence vaccine acceptance in patients. To describe HCPs' beliefs and practices regarding vaccines and perceptions of patient perspectives related to vaccine hesitancy. This was a non-interventional, cross-sectional, online survey administered to 1213 HCPs based in the United States from December 2021 through January 2022. HCPs provided responses regarding their demographic and professional characteristics, beliefs about vaccine safety and effectiveness, vaccination practices, and their views regarding patients' willingness to receive vaccination. Study participants included doctors (55.4 %); physician assistants (11.2 %); pharmacists (11.7 %); nurse practitioners (11.1 %); and registered nurses (10.6 %) from across the United States (West, 35.6 %; Midwest, 27.0 %; South, 25.6 %; Northeast, 11.9 %). HCPs belonged to group practices or clinics (34.5 %), private practices (31.9 %), hospital-based practices (21.9 %), or pharmacies (11.7 %). Most HCPs strongly believed it was their duty to promote vaccination (78.1 %) and used in-person conversations to educate patients about vaccines (85.0 %); 95.1 % had been vaccinated against COVID-19. HCPs reported that 54.9 % of patients accept all vaccines without hesitation, 21.0 % accept all vaccines but hesitate, 16.8 % accept only select vaccines, and 7.2 % reject all vaccines. Reasons commonly cited by patients for being hesitant to accept vaccines or refusal included negative media (hesitancy: 64.6 %; refusal: 73.2 %), the influence of friends or family (hesitancy: 60.5 %; refusal: 68.7 %), distrust of the government (hesitancy: 45.8 %; refusal: 68.4 %), concerns over long-term side effects (hesitancy: 56.1 %; refusal: 68.3 %), and worries about vaccine-related autism or infertility (hesitancy: 49.7 %; refusal: 71.9 %). HCPs reported that the largest contributors to vaccine misinformation among patients were social media (91.0 %), celebrities/TV personalities (63.5 %), and mass media (61.1 %). Despite most HCPs being active proponents of vaccination, misconceptions about vaccination and vaccine hesitancy persists. Consideration should be given to HCP training to support their efforts to promote vaccine acceptance. • Beliefs, attitudes, and practices of healthcare providers (HCPs) influence vaccine acceptance in patients. • Most HCPs believe it is their duty to promote vaccination and use in-person conversations to educate patients about vaccines. • Reasons commonly cited by patients for vaccine hesitancy or refusal included negative media. • Misconceptions about vaccination and vaccine hesitancy persist. • HCPs reported that one of the largest contributors to vaccine misinformation was social media. Smart Spaces outline an intriguing application scenario where people are immersed in time and space in an augmented virtual environment, which suitably exploits ubiquitous computing technologies, space and time awareness, and pervasive intelligence. A number of technical, social, pragmatic challenges, arising from several perspectives and domains, need to be dealt with. Moving from a Socio-Technical Systems approach, this paper first introduces the Butlers for Smart Spaces (BSS) architecture, which specialises the Butlers architecture originally defined for Smart Homes to the Smart Spaces scenario; then, it shows how BSS can be mapped onto the Home Manager platform, and discussed how a Smart Space can be designed and developed on its top - in general, and with regard to a specific example.

In this paper, we propose that a smart approach to city development must seek a continuous and recursive interplay between two levels of codes. On the one hand, computer codes, which rule the development and the functioning of the ubiquitous ICTs infrastructure. On the other hand, normative codes, which govern the practices through which social actors perceive ICTs and decide to exploit them in order to improve their lives. We thus take an exploratory standpoint and investigate to what extent key players in the EU smart cities policy domain are framed according to such a sociotechnical perspective. To this purpose, we first map an online issue network on the topic of smart cities in Europe and then explore the frames that circulate within its core. Our results suggest that, although smart cities are framed sociotechnically, EU key players tend to better converge around technological aspects rather than social ones.

In this paper we show the results of our studies carried out in the framework of the European Project SciCafe2.0 in the area of Participatory Engagement models. We present a methodological approach built on participative engagements models and holistic framework for problem situation clarification and solution impacts assessment. Several online platforms for social engagement have been analysed to extract the main patterns of participative engagement. We present our own experiments through the SciCafe2.0 Platform and our insights from requirements elicitation.

This paper looks at the problem of privacy in the context of Online Social Networks (OSNs). In particular, it examines the predictability of different types of personal information based on OSN data and compares it to the perceptions of users about the disclosure of their information. To this end, a real life dataset is composed. This consists of the Facebook data (images, posts and likes) of 170 people along with their replies to a survey that addresses both their personal information, as well as their perceptions about the sensitivity and the predictability of different types of information. Importantly, we evaluate several learning techniques for the prediction of user attributes based on their OSN data. Our analysis shows that the perceptions of users with respect to the disclosure of specific types of information are often incorrect. For instance, it appears that the predictability of their political beliefs and employment status is higher than they tend to believe. Interestingly, it also appears that information that is characterized by users as more sensitive, is actually more easily predictable than users think, and vice versa (i.e. information that is characterized as relatively less sensitive is less easily predictable than users might have thought).

The technological compound known as Internet of Things is enabling massive transformations in many fields. In this paper, we deal with one emerging scenario, Mobility as a Service, where the interplay between technical, regulatory and social aspects is intense. We advocate the need for interdisciplinary research, taking into account the different facets of a system which, in summary, aims at improving the quality of urban life by collecting personal data, tracking citizens’ movements, correlating them with many other sources of information, and making the results widely available.

- Abstract
Background: This study provides an updated and expanded analysis of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on routine vaccinations across the life-course in the United States., Research Design and Methods: Routine wellness visits and vaccination rates were calculated using structured claims data for each month during the impact period (January 2020 to August 2022) and compared to the respective baseline period (January 2018 to December 2019). Monthly rates were aggregated as annual accumulated and cumulative percent changes., Results: The complete monthly rate interactive dataset can be viewed at https://vaccinationtrends.com. The greatest decrease in annual accumulated administration rates in the 0-2 and 4-6 years age groups was for the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine; for adolescents and older adults, it was for human papillomavirus and pneumococcal vaccines, respectively. Routine in-person wellness visit rates recovered faster and more completely than vaccination rates in all age groups, indicating potential missed opportunities to administer vaccines during visits., Conclusions: This updated analysis reveals that the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on routine vaccination continued through 2021 and into 2022. Proactive efforts to reverse this decline are needed to increase individual- and population-level vaccination coverage and avoid the associated preventable morbidity, mortality, and health care costs.
