351. Design and considerations of ADC0808 as interleaved ADCs

Abstract

Here in this paper we are presenting a digital system background technique for correcting the time offset error rate and gain mismatches in a time interleaved analog to digital converter system for N channel communication using 8 bit ADC0808 ICs. A time interleaved A to D converter system is an effective way to implement a high sampling rate ADC with relatively slow circuits. This paper analyses the benefits and derives an upper band on the performance by considering kT/C noise and slewing requirement of the circuit driving the system. In the system, several channel ADCs operate at interleaved sampling times as if they were effectively a single ADC operating at a much higher sampling rate. A timing mismatch calibration technique is proposed that covers linear and non linear channel mismatches, unifies, and extends the channel models. A novel foreground channel mismatch identification method has been developed, which can be used to fully characterize dynamic linear mismatches. Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a common disease with a rising incidence and the findings of hyperglycemia and glucosuria. However, there are multiple types of diabetes, each with distinct etiologies. The two major types of diabetes are type 1, which is caused by an autoimmune process, and type 2, which is thought to be primarily metabolic, resulting from insulin resistance, often in the setting of obesity. Historically, the distinction between these two types was obvious. Here, we discuss how this paradigm has dramatically changed because of both the evolving epidemiology of diabetes mellitus and new and emerging tools, and therapies to diagnose and treat diabetes. As we believe that understanding these changes is critical to providing optimal care to patients with diabetes, we have developed a novel plasmonic gold chip platform that is able to meet the new and emerging demands of modern diabetes care.

375. Radiatively and thermally driven self-consistent bipolar outflows from accretion discs around compact objects

Abstract

We investigate the role of radiative driving of shock ejected bipolar outflows from advective accretion discs in a self consistent manner. Radiations from the inner disc affects the subsonic part of the jet while those from the pre-shock disc affects the supersonic part, and there by constitutes a multi stage acceleration process. We show that the radiation from the inner disc not only accelerate but also increase the mass outflow rate, while the radiation from the pre-shock disc only increases the kinetic energy of the flow. With proper proportions of these two radiations, very high terminal speed is possible. We also estimated the post-shock luminosity from the pre-shock radiations, and showed that with the increase of viscosity parameter the disc becomes more luminous, and the resulting jet simultaneously becomes faster. This mimics the production of steady mildly relativistic but stronger jets as micro-quasars moves from low hard to intermediate hard spectral states., Comment: 18 pages, 11 figures. 376. Effect of the flow composition on outflow rates from accretion discs around black holes

Abstract

We studied the outflow behaviour from accretion discs around black holes taking into account the vertical equilibrium accretion flow model. The outflow rate is found to depend crucially on flow composition. Our approach is to study the outflow behaviour as function of inflow around black holes with an equation of state which allows flow to be thermally relativistic close to black holes and non relativistic far away from black holes. We studied shock ejection model. A pure electron positron pair flow never undergoes shock transition while presence of some baryons (common in outflows and jets) makes it possible to have standing shock waves in the flow. It can be concluded that the presence of protons is necessary for the flow to show the outflow behaviour. The outflow rate is maximum when the flow contains the proton number density which is 27% of the electron number density. Abstract

OCR has been an active research area since last few decades. OCR performs the recognition of the text in the scanned document image and converts it into editable form. The OCR process can have several stages like pre-processing, segmentation, recognition and post processing. The pre-processing stage is a crucial stage for the success of OCR, which mainly deals with noise removal. In the present paper, a modified technique for noise removal named as K-Algorithm has been proposed, which has two stages as filtering and binarization. The proposed technique shows improvised results in comparison to median filtering technique.

Abstract

Recent SVD-free matrix factorization formulations have enabled rank minimization for systems with millions of rows and columns, paving the way for matrix completion in extremely large-scale applications, such as seismic data interpolation. In this paper, we consider matrix completion formulations designed to hit a target data-fitting error level provided by the user, and propose an algorithm called LR-BPDN that is able to exploit factorized formulations to solve the corresponding optimization problem. Since practitioners typically have strong prior knowledge about target error level, this innovation makes it easy to apply the algorithm in practice, leaving only the factor rank to be determined. Within the established framework, we propose two extensions that are highly relevant to solving practical challenges of data interpolation. First, we propose a weighted extension that allows known subspace information to improve the results of matrix completion formulations. We show how this weighting can be used in the context of frequency continuation, an essential aspect to seismic data interpolation. Second, we propose matrix completion formulations that are robust to large measurement errors in the available data. We illustrate the advantages of LR-BPDN on the collaborative filtering problem using the MovieLens 1M, 10M, and Netflix 100M datasets. Then, we use the new method, along with its robust and subspace re-weighted extensions, to obtain high-quality reconstructions for large scale seismic interpolation problems with real data, even in the presence of data contamination., Comment: 26 pages, 13 figures

382. Estimation of the mass outflow rates from viscous accretion discs

Abstract

We study viscous accretion disc around black holes, and all possible accretion solutions, including shocked as well as shock free accretion branches. Shock driven bipolar outflows from a viscous accretion disc around a black hole has been investigated. One can identify two critical viscosity parameters $\alpha_{cl}$ and $\alpha_{cu}$, within which the stationary shocks may occur, for each set of boundary conditions. Adiabatic shock has been found for upto viscosity parameter $\alpha=0.3$, while in presence of dissipation and massloss we have found stationary shock upto $\alpha=0.15$. The mass outflow rate may increase or decrease with the change in disc parameters, and is usually around few to 10% of the mass inflow rate. We show that for the same outer boundary condition, the shock front decreases to a smaller distance with the increase of $\alpha$. We also show that the increase in dissipation reduces the thermal driving in the post-shock disc, and hence the mass outflow rate decreases upto a few %., Comment: 16 pages, 13 figures, Accepted for publication in MNRAS
