Safety for the occupants of the cab is a prime consideration for structure design on commercial vehicle. The cab shall be designed and attached to the vehicle in such way that in the event of collision exhibit a survival space for the occupants, meanwhile, the cab must remain attached to the chassis frame. The new more legal and strict safety test requirements are specified by proposal for ECE R29-03[1] of amendments to ECE R29-02[2]. A computational simulation method for Front impact test, A-pillar impact test, Roof strength test of ECE R29-03 was introduced. The non linear explicit finite element program LS-DYNA was used for that purpose. In this paper, the application of this numerical method by the example of a real heavy truck of FAW having been passed according to ECE R29-02 is presented and compared with new requirements of ECE R29-03. Finally, the paper gives some feasible improvement measures for cabin structure design in order to pass the approval test of ECE R29-03
