Various evidences have documented that the pineal secretory product melatonin exerts an important anti-inflammatory effect in different experimental models including colitis. The aim of the present study was to evaluate whether melatonin regulates the inflammatory response of experimental colitis in rats at the level of signal transduction pathway. Colitis was induced by intracolonic instillation of dinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (DNBS). Four days after DNBS administration, a substantial increase of colon TNF-alpha production was associated with the colon damage. In DNBS-treated rats, the colon injury correlated with a significant rise of apoptosis (evaluated by TUNEL coloration) which was associated with a significant increased expression of proapoptotic Bax and decreased colon content of antiapoptotic Bcl-2. This inflammatory response was also related to activation of nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB) and phosphorylation of c-Jun as well as FAS ligand expression in the colon. Treatment with melatonin (15 mg/kg daily i.p.) was associated with a remarkable amelioration of colonic disrupted architecture as well as a significant reduction of TNF-alpha. Melatonin also reduced the NF-kappaB activation and phosphorylation of c-Jun as well as the Fas ligand expression in the colon. Furthermore, melatonin reduced the expression of Bax and prevented the loss of Bcl-2 proteins as well as the presence of apoptotic cells caused by DNBS. The results of this study show that melatonin administration exerts beneficial effects in inflammatory bowel disease by modulating signal transduction pathways.

Molecular dynamics simulations of representative mesophilic and psycrophilic elastases have been carried out at different temperatures to explore the molecular basis of cold adaptation inside a specific enzymatic family. The molecular dynamics trajectories have been compared and analyzed in terms of secondary structure, molecular flexibility, intramolecular and protein-solvent interactions, unravelling molecular features relevant to rationalize the efficient catalytic activity of psychrophilic elastases at low temperature. The comparative molecular dynamics investigation reveals that modulation of the number of protein-solvent interactions is not the evolutionary strategy followed by the psycrophilic elastase to enhance catalytic activity at low temperature. In addition, flexibility and solvent accessibility of the residues forming the catalytic triad and the specificity pocket are comparable in the cold- and warm-adapted enzymes. Instead, loop regions with different amino acid composition in the two enzymes, and clustered around the active site or the specificity pocket, are characterized by enhanced flexibility in the cold-adapted enzyme. Remarkably, the psycrophilic elastase is characterized by reduced flexibility, when compared to the mesophilic counterpart, in some scattered regions distant from the functional sites, in agreement with hypothesis suggesting that local rigidity in regions far from functional sites can be beneficial for the catalytic activity of psychrophilic enzymes.

Acceptance testing of computed radiography systems (CR) is required to verify not only image quality but also compliance with the manufacturer's specifications. Therefore, CR acceptance testing is manufacturer-specific. This paper describes a series of performance tests performed on a large number of CRs (FCR 5000, Fuji) recently acquired by our institution. In particular we describe the following tests: dark noise, uniformity, exposure calibration, linearity and autoranging, limiting resolution, noise and low-contrast resolution, spatial accuracy, laser-beam function, erasure thoroughness, aliasing, grid response. Special attention is given to the practical aspects related to measurement and subsequent image analysis. We report the results obtained in the various tests. No significant variations from the reference levels were found. Nonetheless, in some cases the operating procedures had to be adapted.

Background: The aim of this study was to compare contrast-enhanced gray-scale harmonic ultrasound with multiphasic spiral computed tomography in the assessment of treatment efficacy of non-surgically treated HCC., Methods: We studied 56 HCCs treated by percutaneous ethanol injection (31 cases), radiofrequency ablation (three cases), trans-arterial chemoembolization (12 cases), and combined treatment (10 cases). The efficacy of therapies was blindly assessed by multiphasic computed tomography and gray-scale harmonic ultrasound with a second-generation contrast agent (sulfur hexafluoride)., Results: On computed tomography 30 tumors (53.6%) showed complete necrosis, while 26 lesions (45.4%) were still viable. On contrast-enhanced ultrasound examination 33/56 nodules (58.9%) had no contrast enhancement in the arterial phase, while 23/56 lesions (41.1%) were still vascularized. All the nodules assessed as completely necrotic on computed tomography did not show arterial enhancement on contrast-enhanced ultrasound and diagnostic agreement was found in 53/56 cases (94.6%) (P<0.001). Contrast-enhanced ultrasound demonstrated relative sensitivity and specificity of 87.0% and 98.4%., Conclusions: Contrast-enhanced harmonic ultrasound is promising in the efficacy evaluation of ablation treatments for HCC. Nodules vascularized in the arterial phase on contrast harmonic ultrasound should be considered still viable and addressed to additional treatment without further evaluation.

The nuclear receptors farnesoid X receptor (FXR) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)gamma exert counter-regulatory effects on hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and protect against liver fibrosis development in rodents. Here, we investigated whether FXR ligands regulate PPARgamma expression in HSCs and models of liver fibrosis induced in rats by porcine serum and carbon tetrachloride administration and bile duct ligation. Our results demonstrate that HSCs trans-differentiation associated with suppression of PPARgamma mRNA expression, whereas FXR mRNA was unchanged. Exposure of cells to natural and synthetic ligands of FXR, including 6-ethyl chenodeoxycholic acid (6-ECDCA), a synthetic derivative of chenodeoxycholic acid, reversed this effect and increased PPARgamma mRNA by approximately 40-fold. Submaximally effective concentrations of FXR and PPARgamma ligands were additive in inhibiting alpha1(I) collagen mRNA accumulation induced by transforming growth factor (TGF)beta1. Administration of 6-ECDCA in rats rendered cirrhotic by porcine serum and carbon tetrachloride administration or bile duct ligation reverted down-regulation of PPARgamma mRNA expression in HSCs. Cotreatment with 6-ECDCA potentiates the antifibrotic activity of rosiglitazone, a PPARgamma ligand, in the porcine serum model as measured by morphometric analysis of liver collagen content, hydroxyproline, and liver expression of alpha1(I) collagen mRNA, alpha-smooth muscle actin, fibronectin, TGFbeta1, and tissue inhibitor of metalloprotease 1 and 2, whereas it enhanced the expression of PPARgamma and uncoupling protein 2, a PPARgamma-regulated gene, by 2-fold. In conclusion, by using an in vitro and in vivo approach, we demonstrated that FXR ligands up-regulate PPARgamma mRNA in HSCs and in rodent models of liver fibrosis. A FXR-PPARgamma cascade exerts counter-regulatory effects in HSCs activation.

The farnesoid X receptor (FXR) is expressed by and regulates hepatic stellate cells (HSCs). In the present study, we investigated whether 6-ethyl chenodeoxycholic acid (6-ECDCA or INT-747), a semisynthetic derivative of chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA), modulates tissue metalloproteinase inhibitor (TIMP)-1 and matrix metalloprotease (MMP)-2 expression/activity in HSCs and in the liver of rats rendered cirrhotic by 4-week administration of CCl(4). Exposure of HSCs to FXR ligands increases small heterodimer partner (SHP) mRNA by 3-fold and reduces basal and thrombin-stimulated expression of alpha1(I)collagen, alpha-smooth muscle actin (alpha-SMA), TIMP-1, and TIMP-2 by approximately 60 to 70%, whereas it increased matrix metalloprotease (MMP)-2 activity by 2-fold. In coimmunoprecipitation, electromobility shift, and transactivation experiments, FXR activation/overexpression caused a SHP-dependent inhibition of JunD binding to its consensus element in the TIMP-1 promoter. Inhibition of TIMP-1 expression by SHP overexpression enhanced the sensitivity of HSCs to proapoptogenic stimuli. Administration of 3 mg/kg 6-ECDCA, but not 15 mg/kg ursodeoxycholic acid, resulted in early (3-5-day) induction of SHP and prevention of early up-regulation of TIMP-1 mRNA induced by CCl(4). In the prevention protocol, 4-week administration of 6-ECDCA reduced alpha1(I)collagen, alpha-SMA, and TIMP-1 mRNA by 60 to 80%, whereas it increased MMP-2 activity by 5-fold. In the resolution protocol, administration of 3 mg/kg 6-ECDCA promoted liver fibrosis resolution and increased the apoptosis of nonparenchyma liver cells. By demonstrating that a FXR-SHP regulatory cascade promotes the development of a quiescent phenotype and increases apoptosis of HSCs, this study establishes that FXR ligands may be beneficial in treatment of liver fibrosis.

Purpose: To determine the frequencies of various echogenicity patterns in 153 consecutive unifocal hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) <2 cm detected in cirrhotic livers and to identify their relationships with clinical, laboratory, and microscopic features., Patients and Methods: The tumors were classified as hypoechoic, hyperechoic, isoechoic, or nodule-in-nodule. Correlation was evaluated between hypoechoic and hyperechoic patterns and the following variables: age, gender, serum alphafetoprotein (AFP), tumor size, ultrasound features of liver parenchyma, cirrhosis etiology, and cyto/histological tumor grading., Results: One hundred and seventeen tumors (76.4%) were hypoechoic, 26 (17.0%) were hyperechoic, 5 (3.3%) were isoechoic, and 5 (3.3%) had nodule-in-nodule patterns. The hyperechoic pattern was more common in patients under 69 years (25.0% vs. 11.3% in those under 69 years or older, P=0.033). Patients with a hyperechoic pattern displayed a trend towards lower AFP levels and higher prevalence of hepatitis C-related cirrhosis. The prevalence of well-differentiated tumors was identical (56.6% and 56.5%) in the hypoechoic and hyperechoic subgroups. AFP was higher than 400 ng/ml in only 11/153 cases (7.2%)., Conclusions: The hyperechoic pattern of HCC is by no means uncommon, particularly in patients under 70. Hyperechogenicity is not related to an increased frequency of well-differentiated tumors. AFP shows limited value as a confirmatory test of small HCC., (Copyright Blackwell Munksgaard 2004)

Background: Crohn disease (CD) manifests with highly variable signs and symptoms, and assessment of the status of the disease in the single patient can be difficult. This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of power colour Doppler ultrasonography, with and without echo-enhancement, in distinguishing active from quiescent CD., Methods: Resistance Index (RI) of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA), bowel thickness of the affected loops and the presence of colour signals at power Doppler analysis prior to and after ultrasonography contrast agent injection (Levovist) were evaluated in 48 patients with CD., Results: In our series, 26/48 patients had active and 22/48 had quiescent CD. A CDAI score > or = 150 and a pathological (> 5 mg/dL) C reactive protein were significantly correlated with active disease (P < 0.001 and P = 0.004, respectively). Intestinal wall thickness showed no significant correlation with disease status (7.5 +/- 1.3 mm in active disease versus 6.8 +/- 1.3 mm in quiescent disease; P = 0.11). Vascular signals in the affected loops were revealed in 11/22 patients (50%) with active disease and in 5/26 (20%) with quiescent disease (P = 0.052). After Levovist injection, colour signals were found in 22/22 with active and in 8/26 with quiescent CD (P < 0.001). SMA RI was significantly lower in active CD patients (0.81 +/- 0.01 versus 0.83 +/- 0.02; P = 0.001)., Conclusions: Our data suggest that in patients with CD a finding of a SMA RI < or = 0.81, or the presence of a colour signal in the wall of the affected loops, at power Doppler sonography, is indicative of active disease. Utilization of echo-enhancer media can greatly improve the diagnostic sensitivity of intestinal wall power Doppler scan. A finding of intestinal wall thickening is not associated with active disease in our series.

We have previously shown that stable overexpression of the thrombospondin-2 (TSP-2) gene inhibited the tumor growth and angiogenesis of human squamous cell carcinoma xenotransplants. To investigate the potential antitumoral efficacy of systemic TSP-2 therapy, we expressed a recombinant 80 kDa fragment of human TSP-2 (TSP-2/NTF), encompassing the N-terminal globular region through the three type 1 repeats, in human kidney 293 EBNA cells, using a modified pCEP4 expression vector. Daily intraperitoneal injections of TSP-2/NTF resulted in a significant inhibition of the growth of human A431 squamous cell carcinomas in vivo and in reduced tumor vascularization. To further investigate possible mechanisms of the antiangiogenic activity of TSP-2/NTF, several in vitro angiogenesis assays were performed in human dermal microvascular endothelial cells. TSP-2/NTF inhibited vascular endothelial growth factor induced migration of human dermal microvascular endothelial cells and inhibited tube formation on Matrigel in vitro. TSP-2/NTF also inhibited vascular endothelial growth factor induced angiogenesis in an in vivo Matrigel assay. Moreover, TSP-2/NTF potently induced human dermal microvascular endothelial cell apoptosis in vitro but did not affect A431 tumor cell proliferation or apoptosis. These findings identify TSP-2/NTF as a potent systemic inhibitor of tumor growth and angiogenesis, acting by direct inhibition of several endothelial cell functions involved in neovascularization.

The distinct roles of angiopoietin (Ang)-1 and Ang2, counteracting ligands for the endothelium-specific Tie2 receptor, in tumor development and progression have remained poorly understood. We investigated the expression of Ang1 and Ang2 during multistep mouse skin carcinogenesis and in human squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) xenografts. Expression of Ang2, but not of Ang1, was up-regulated in angiogenic tumor vessels already in early stages of skin carcinogenesis and was also strongly increased in SCCs. Stable overexpression of Ang1 in human A431 SCCs resulted in a more than 70% inhibition of tumor growth, associated with enhanced Tie2 phosphorylation levels, as compared with low levels in control transfected tumors. No major changes in the vascular density, vascular endothelial growth factor mRNA and protein expression, and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 phosphorylation levels were observed in Ang1-expressing tumors. However, the fraction of tumor blood vessels with coverage by alpha-smooth muscle actin-positive periendothelial cells was significantly increased, indicative of an increased vascular maturation status. These findings identify an inhibitory role of Ang1/Tie2 receptor-mediated vessel maturation in SCC growth and suggest that up-regulation of its antagonist, Ang2, during early-stage epithelial tumorigenesis contributes to the angiogenic switch by counteracting specific vessel-stabilizing effects of Ang1.

Apricot is an important crop in Italy and, especially in Southern regions, in the last five years numerous plantings using new cultivars and appropriate cultural management have been established. The cultivars available were created in different environments (USA, France, New Zealand, etc), they then often show low adaptability to Italian conditions. However, in the South of Italy, it is still possible to safeguard and to exploit a considerable amount of the apricot genetic variation available in ecotypes often characterised both by useful bio-agronomic traits and by good environmental adaptation. These genetic materials could be used in breeding programs aimed at broadening the harvest period and obtaining high fruit quality and resistance to the main biotic and abiotic stresses.

Metastasis of breast cancer occurs primarily through the lymphatic system, and the extent of lymph node involvement is a key prognostic factor for the disease. Whereas the significance of angiogenesis for tumor progression has been well documented, the ability of tumor cells to induce the growth of lymphatic vessels (lymphangiogenesis) and the presence of intratumoral lymphatic vessels have been controversial. Using a novel marker for lymphatic endothelium, LYVE-1, we demonstrate here the occurrence of intratumoral lymphangiogenesis within human breast cancers after orthotopic transplantation onto nude mice. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-C overexpression in breast cancer cells potently increased intratumoral lymphangiogenesis, resulting in significantly enhanced metastasis to regional lymph nodes and to lungs. The degree of tumor lymphangiogenesis was highly correlated with the extent of lymph node and lung metastases. These results establish the occurrence and biological significance of intratumoral lymphangiogenesis in breast cancer and identify VEGF-C as a molecular link between tumor lymphangiogenesis and metastasis.

The function of the endogenous angiogenesis inhibitor thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1) in tissue repair has remained controversial. We established transgenic mice with targeted overexpression of TSP-1 in the skin, using a keratin 14 expression cassette. TSP-1 transgenic mice were healthy and fertile, and did not show any major abnormalities of normal skin vascularity, cutaneous vascular architecture, or microvascular permeability. However, healing of full-thickness skin wounds was greatly delayed in TSP-1 transgenic mice and was associated with reduced granulation tissue formation and highly diminished wound angiogenesis. Moreover, TSP-1 potently inhibited fibroblast migration in vivo and in vitro. These findings demonstrate that TSP-1 preferentially interfered with wound healing-associated angiogenesis, rather than with the angiogenesis associated with normal development and skin homeostasis, and suggest that therapeutic application of angiogenesis inhibitors might potentially be associated with impaired wound vascularization and tissue repair.

Inhibition of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptor Flk-1 has been shown to prevent invasion of experimental squamous cell carcinomas (SCC). To directly investigate the role of VEGF in tumor invasion, we stably transfected human SCC-13 cells, which are characterized by a noninvasive phenotype in vivo, with expression vectors containing murine VEGF(164) in sense (SCC/VEGF+) or antisense (SCC/VEGF-) orientation or with vector alone (SCC/vec). SCC/vec cells formed slowly growing, well-differentiated tumors with well-defined borders between tumor and stroma, after intradermal or subcutaneous injection. In contrast, SCC/VEGF+ tumors were characterized by rapid tumor growth, with small cell groups and single cells invading into the surrounding tissue, and by admixture of blood vessels and tumor cells in areas of tumor invasion. We detected an increase in tumor vessel density and size in VEGF-overexpressing tumors, resulting in a more than fourfold increase in total vascular areas. In contrast, SCC/VEGF- clones formed noninvasive, sharply circumscribed tumors with reduced vascular density. These findings demonstrate that selective VEGF overexpression was sufficient to induce tumor invasiveness, and they provide further evidence for an active role of the tumor stroma in cancer progression.

Recent evidence suggests a potential role for thrombospondin-2 (TSP-2), a matricellular glycoprotein, in the regulation of primary angiogenesis. To directly examine the biological effect of TSP-2 expression on tumor growth and angiogenesis, human A431 squamous cell carcinoma cells, which do not express TSP-2, were stably transfected with a murine TSP-2 expression vector or with vector alone. A431 cells expressing TSP-2 did not show an altered growth rate, colony-forming ability, or susceptibility to induction of apoptosis in vitro. However, injection of TSP-2-transfected clones into the dermis of nude mice resulted in pronounced inhibition of tumor growth that was significantly stronger than the inhibition observed in A431 clones stably transfected with a thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1) expression vector, and combined overexpression of TSP-1 and TSP-2 completely prevented tumor formation. Extensive areas of necrosis were observed in TSP-2-expressing tumors, and both the density and the size of tumor vessels were significantly reduced, although tumor cell expression of the major tumor angiogenesis factor, vascular endothelial growth factor, was maintained at high levels. These findings establish TSP-2 as a potent endogenous inhibitor of tumor growth and angiogenesis.

The function of the endogenous angiogenesis inhibitor thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1) in epithelial tumor development has remained controversial. We studied the in vitro growth characteristics and the in vivo tumor xenograft growth of the human squamous cell carcinoma cell lines A431 and SCC-13, stably transfected to overexpress human TSP-1. Overexpression of TSP-1 inhibited tumor growth of A431 xenotransplants, and completely abolished tumor formation by SCC-13 cells. TSP-1 overexpressing A431 tumors were characterized by extensive areas of necrosis and by decreased tumor vessel number and size. The effects of TSP-1 on tumor cell growth were indirect since tumor cell proliferation rates in vivo and in vitro, anchorage-dependent and -independent growth in vitro, and susceptibility to induction of apoptosis by serum withdrawal were unchanged in TSP-1 overexpressing tumor cells. However, TSP-1 overexpression up-regulated the TSP-1 receptor CD36, leading to enhanced adhesion of A431 cells to TSP-1. These findings establish TSP-1 as a potent inhibitor of angiogenesis and tumor growth in carcinomas of the skin.

Ro 41-5253 is a RARalpha-selective antagonist that binds RARalpha but does not induce transcriptional activation and does not influence RAR/RXR heterodimerization and DNA binding. This retinoid inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis in MCF-7 and ZR-75.1 estrogen-receptor-positive breast-carcinoma cells in a dose-dependent way. The anti-proliferative effect is more evident in ZR-75.1 cells than in MCF-7 cells and is probably mediated by anti-AP1 activity, a mechanism known to be implied in the action of several retinoids. In the induction of apoptosis also ZR-75.1 cells are more sensitive to treatment with Ro 41-5253 than MCF-7 cells. In ZR-75.1 cells an apoptotic/hypodiploid DNA peak is already evident after 2 days of incubation, whereas in MCF-7 cells it appears only after 4 days. The highest percentage of apoptotic cells, for both cell lines, is reached after 6 days of treatment. The apoptosis pathway is p53-independent and bcl-2 downregulation seems to be correlated with an increase in TGF-beta1 protein. The MDA-MB-231 estrogen-receptor-negative cell line is poorly responsive to Ro 41-5253 treatment, both in terms of proliferation inhibition and apoptosis induction. Ro 41-5253 has proliferation-inhibiting and apoptosis-inducing properties that are not mediated by transcriptional activation from retinoic-acid response elements. This retinoid antagonist seems to be a compound that exerts an anti-tumor activity but does not induce the toxic side effects of retinoids and might, therefore, be considered as a candidate for cancer therapy.

Induction of apoptosis in MCF-7 breast carcinoma cell line by various retinoids was measured by cytofluorimetry and DNA fragmentation assay. Retinoids with marked or high selectivity for RAR alpha, RAR beta, RAR gamma or RXR alpha were tested. All these retinoids were capable of inducing apoptosis, in a dose- and time-dependent way. MCF-7 cell line expressed RAR alpha, RAR gamma and RXRs, but not RAR beta. Compared to untreated MCF-7 cells, after 2 days of incubation with each of the selective retinoids, a substantial increase in apoptotic cells was observed, even at the lowest concentration of 10(-8) M. Among the various analysed selective retinoids only slight differences were observed. All-trans retinoic acid and 13-cis retinoic acid induced apoptosis only after 6 days and 9-cis-retinoic acid after 4 days of incubation. Since all receptor selective retinoids substantially inducedapoptosis, it may be concluded that RAR alpha, RAR gamma and RXR alpha are able to mediate programmed cell death in the tested tumor cell line. Highly selective retinoid receptor agonists and antagonists may be useful for clarifying the function of retinoid receptors and for further progress in the field of cancer prevention and therapy by retinoids.

Interest has been increasingly focused on all-trans-retinoic acid (tRA) and 13-cis-retinoic acid (13cRA) in cancer chemoprevention and treatment. We have examined the in vitro effects of these 2 retinoic acids (RAs) on human breast-cancer cell lines MCF-7 and ZR-75.1 (both estrogen-receptor-positive, ER+) and MDA-MB-231 (estrogen-receptor-negative, ER-), in terms of inhibition of proliferation and induction of apoptosis. Both retinoic acids exerted an evident dose-dependent growth inhibition, although in the ER- cell line the anti-proliferative effect was obtained only with the highest concentration used; the anti-proliferative activity of tRA was more evident than 13cRA on all 3 tested cell lines. tRA and 13cRA induced apoptosis in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cell lines, but not in ZR-75.1. The apoptotic phenomenon was clearly time-dependent, and in our experience it was not related to the arrest in a specific phase of cell cycle. After treatment with RAs the levels of bcl-2 were reduced in MCF-7, while in ZR-75.1 and in MDA-MB-231 no treatment-related modifications were observed. An analysis of estrogen-receptor status, used as a marker of differentiation, demonstrated that after treatment with RAs the levels of estrogen receptor (ER) decreased in ZR-75.1 only. Our study indicates that the anti-proliferative effects of RAs are sustained by induction of apoptosis in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells, while in ZR-75.1 cells an induction of differentiation without apoptosis was the prevalent mechanism of growth inhibition. Our results encourage further studies on in vivo effects of these retinoids in breast cancer.

Critical evaluation of immunoglobulins in Rheumatoid Arthritis. It has been studied the behavior of the serum and synovial immunoglobulins of 62 patients afftected arthritis reheumatoid in various clinic stages; the valued have been expressed in mg% and mg/g of proteins. The serum levels of the IgG and IgA are higher in the cases of R.A. than in normals. The synovial concentrations of the IgA and IgM are lower than the respective serum values, while the phenomenon is less evident for the IgG probably because the last are synthetised in the synovial means. It exists, however, a interdipendence between the concentration of the serum and synovial immunoglobulins. The concentrations of the immunoglobulines, both serum and synovial, are not in relation with the most usual humoral phlogosis-tests, as well as they are not correlable with the values of the naturals antiproteases and with some fractions of the complement (both of the classic and alternative pathway). The variations of the immunoglobulins are, in the R.A., aspecific and of different intensity therefore their determination is not proposable neither as test of measure of the phlogosis nor as index of disease.
