We demonstrate modulation of insulator metal transition (IMT) of VO2 films grown on single crystalline substrates through the effect of in-plane compression with crystallization of capping chalcogenide layer on the targeted VO2 films. Chalcogenide germanium–antimony–telluride (Ge2Sb2Te5: GST), which shows large volume reduction of 6.8% with its phase change from amorphous to crystal, was deposited on VO2 films grown on Al2O3 (001) and TiO2 (001) substrates, where V–V atoms along the cR-axis in the tetragonal VO2 phase align parallel and perpendicular to the substrate surfaces, respectively. As a result, counter shifts in temperature-dependence of resistance characteristics, to lower and higher directions, were observed for VO2 films on Al2O3 (001) and TiO2 (001), consistent with the lattice modulation of VO2 films by the in-plane compression introduced by GST crystallization. Here, we synthesized three zero-dimensional organic metal halides of (TPA) 2 SbCl 5 (1), Sb3+-doped (TPA)SnCl 5 (H 2 O)·2H 2 O (Sb3+-2), and Sb3+-doped (TPA) 2 SnCl 6 (Sb3+-3). Compared with the intense orange emission of 1 , Sb3+-3 has smaller lattice distortion, thus effectively suppressing the exciton transformation from singlet to triplet self-trapped exciton (STE) states, which makes Sb3+-3 has stronger singlet STE emission and further bring a white emission with a photoluminescence quantum efficiency (PLQE) of 93.4%. Conversely, the non-emission can be observed in Sb3+-2 even though it has a similar [SbCl 5 ]2- structure to 1 , which should be due to its indirect bandgap characteristics and the effective non-radiative relaxation caused by H 2 O in the lattice. Interestingly, the non-emission of Sb3+-2 can convert into the bright emission of Sb3+-3 under TPACl DMF solution treatment. Meanwhile, the white emission under 315 nm excitation of Sb3+-3 can change into orange emission upon 365 nm irradiation, and the luminescence can be further quenched by the treatment of HCl. Therefore, a triple-mode reversible luminescence switch of off-onI-onII-off can be achieved. Finally, we demonstrated the applications of Sb3+-doped compounds in single-component white light illumination, latent fingerprint detection, fluorescent anti-counterfeiting, and information encryption. The effective management of low-concentration dye pollutants is a challenging task. Among various strategies, the Fenton reaction has emerged as a powerful approach for the degradation of dyes, particularly in the presence of highly efficient catalysts. This study presents the utilization of antimony tungstate nest modified small magnetite nanospheres (Fe3O4/Sb2WO6) as a heterostructure catalyst for the photo-Fenton mineralization of low-concentration organic pollutants, exemplified by methylene blue (MB) at ppm levels. The synthesis of Fe3O4/Sb2WO6 involves the in situ co-precipitation of agglomerated Fe3O4 nanospheres on hierarchical Sb2WO6 nests. The resulting Fe3O4/Sb2WO6 catalyst exhibits exceptional catalytic efficiency, demonstrating its capability to efficiently decontaminate low-concentration MB wastewater. Kinetics analysis reveals that the photo-Fenton-like mineralization route adheres to the first-order reaction kinetic model, and approximately 100% mineralization of MB is achieved with a minimal catalyst amount of 4 mg L−1. 0D organic–inorganic antimony halides have attracted increasing attention due to the non‐toxicity, high stability, and superior photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY). Here, a series of hybrid antimony chlorides with the same organic cation ethyltriphenylphosphonium (Ph3EtP+), including non‐emissive (Ph3EtP)2Sb2Cl8 and nine (Ph3EtP)2SbCl5‐based emissive compounds, are synthesized and characterized. These emissive compounds are namely, the guest‐free (Ph3EtP)2SbCl5 and (Ph3EtP)2SbCl5·guest (guest = glycol, acetic acid, methanol, ethanol, n‐propanol, i‐propanol, acetone, and acetonitrile). The solvent used can alter the coordination mode of Sb because the solvation effect affects the reactivity of the anions ([SbCl4]− and Cl−), leading to the formation of either A2Sb2Cl8 or A2SbCl5. The solvents can be even incorporated into the crystal structure, where stronger interaction with [SbCl5]2− leads to higher temperature of the escape of the solvent. The guest molecules could increase the structural rigidity of [SbCl5]2− via hydrogen bonding and dipole–dipole interactions, which tends to reduce the room‐temperature photoluminescence (PL) Stokes shift and temperature‐dependent PL shift by decreasing the [SbCl5]2− deformability, along with enhanced PLQY from 81% in guest‐free to near‐unity in (Ph3EtP)2SbCl5·glycol. This work shows that targeted synthesis and diversified choices of solvents provide an efficient tool to generate steady variations in hybrid emissive materials for optoelectronics. The evolution of Sb2Se3 heterojunction devices away from CdS electron transport layers (ETL) to wide bandgap metal oxide alternatives is a critical target in the development of this emerging photovoltaic material. Metal oxide ETL/Sb2Se3 device performance has historically been limited by relatively low fill factors, despite offering clear advantages with regards to photocurrent collection. In this study, TiO2 ETLs are fabricated via direct current reactive sputtering and tested in complete Sb2Se3 devices. A strong correlation between TiO2 ETL processing conditions and the Sb2Se3 solar cell device response under forward bias conditions is observed and optimized. Numerical device models support experimental evidence of a spike‐like conduction band offset, which can be mediated, provided a sufficiently high conductivity and low interfacial defect density can be achieved in the TiO2 ETL. Ultimately, a SnO2:F/TiO2/Sb2Se3/P3HT/Au device with the reactively sputtered TiO2 ETL delivers an 8.12% power conversion efficiency (η), the highest TiO2/Sb2Se3 device reported to‐date. This is achieved by a substantial reduction in series resistance, driven by improved crystallinity of the reactively sputtered anatase‐TiO2 ETL, whilst maintaining almost maximum current collection for this device architecture. The unique 1D crystal structure of Antimony Triselenide (Sb2Se3) offers notable potential for use in flexible, lightweight devices due to its excellent bending characteristics. However, fabricating high‐efficiency flexible Sb2Se3 solar cells is challenging, primarily due to the suboptimal contact interface between the embedded Sb2Se3 layer and the molybdenum back‐contact, compounded by complex intrinsic defects. This study introduces a novel Molybdenum Trioxide (MoO3) interlayer to address the back contact interface issues in flexible Sb2Se3 devices. Further investigations indicate that incorporating a MoO3 interlayer not only enhances the crystalline quality but also promotes a favorable [hk1] growth orientation in the Sb2Se3 absorber layer. It also reduces the barrier height at the back contact interface and effectively passivates harmful defects. As a result, the flexible Sb2Se3 solar cell, featuring a Mo‐foil/Mo/MoO3/Sb2Se3/CdS/ITO/Ag substrate structure, demonstrates exceptional flexibility and durability, enduring large bending radii and multiple bending cycles while achieving an impressive efficiency of 8.23%. This research offers a straightforward approach to enhancing the performance of flexible Sb2Se3 devices, thereby expanding their application scope in the field of photovoltaics. Exploration of efficient red emitting antimony hybrid halide with large Stokes shift and zero self‐absorption is highly desirable due to its enormous potential for applications in solid light emitting, and active optical waveguides. However, it is still challenging and rarely reported. Herein, a series of (TMS)2SbCl5 (TMS=triphenylsulfonium cation) crystals have been prepared with diverse [SbCl5]2− configurations and distinctive emission color. Among them, cubic‐phase (TMS)2SbCl5 shows bright red emission with a large Stokes shift of 312 nm. In contrast, monoclinic and orthorhombic (TMS)2SbCl5 crystals deliver efficient yellow and orange emission, respectively. Comprehensive structural investigations reveal that larger Stokes shift and longer‐wavelength emission of cubic (TMS)2SbCl5 can be attributed to the larger lattice volume and longer Sb⋅⋅⋅Sb distance, which favor sufficient structural aberration freedom at excited states. Together with robust stability, (TMS)2SbCl5 crystal family has been applied as optical waveguide with ultralow loss coefficient of 3.67 ⋅ 10−4 dB μm−1, and shows superior performance in white‐light emission and anti‐counterfeiting. Antimony (III)‐containing halide hybrids possess a distinctive stereoactivity with a 5s2 lone pair, which further induces significant structural distortions upon light excitation. Herein disordered dis‐[TPPen]2SbBr5 (TPPen = triphenylpentylphosphonium) and ordered ord‐[TPPen]2SbBr5, have been synthesized and exhibit self‐trapped excitons (STEs) emissions in the red‐to‐near infrared (NIR) range. Benefiting from a high distortion degree of STEs confined within the [SbBr5]2− unit and the pronounced alterations in the Sb─Br bond lengths upon blue‐light excitation, dis‐[TPPen]2SbBr5 achieves a greater level of excited state distortion and a larger Stokes shift than those of ord‐[TPPen]2SbBr5. The fabrication of blue light excited NIR light‐emitting device based on dis‐[TPPen]2SbBr5 demonstrates the prospective application in night vision supplemental lighting and non‐destructive examination. Phytoremediation, including bacteria-assisted phytoremediation, presents a promising technology for treating shooting range soils contaminated with toxic metalloids. In this study, a pot experiment was performed using the halophyte Tamarix smyrnensis and soil collected from a shooting range and artificially spiked at two different antimonite (Sb(III)) concentrations (50 mg/kg and 250 mg/kg) with the aim to explore the Sb phytoremediation of the halophyte. The effect of salt (0.3%) and Mn addition (300 ppm) on its remediation capacity was also investigated. Moreover, the root endophytic community of the halophyte was found able to remove Sb(III) and was periodically inoculated to the plants. The consortium application increased the Sb bioavailable fraction in the soil and enhanced the Sb accumulation in root and aerial parts (up to 50% and 55% respectively at high Sb(III) concentration) compared to the uninoculated plants. Moreover, the presence of Mn increased the translocation factor (21% increase for inoculated and 46% increase for uninoculated plants) while lower TF was observed at high Sb concentrations (0,2 and 0,07 was the lowest value at low and high Sb treatments respectively). The addition of salt, Mn and root endophytic bacteria aided the halophyte to cope with elevated Sb concentrations. The total chlorophyll concentration was higher in inoculated plants compared to the uninoculated ones in all treatments, implying the positive effects of endophytic inoculation. The halophyte T. smyrnensis with the aid of endophytic community presents a promising alternative for remediating shooting range soils especially in areas impacted by salinity. Antimony (Sb) has gained significance as a critical raw material (CRM) within the European Union (EU) due to its strategic importance in various industrial sectors, particularly in the textile industry for flame retardants and as a component of Sb-based semiconductor materials. Moreover, Sb is emerging as a potential alternative for anodes used in lithium-ion batteries, a key element in the energy transition. This study explored the feasibility of identifying and quantifying Sb mineralisations through the spectral signature of soils using laboratory reflectance spectroscopy, a non-invasive remote sensing technique, and by employing convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Standard signal pre-processing techniques were applied to the spectral data, and the soils were analysed by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Despite achieving high R-squared (0.7) values and an RMSE of 173 ppm for Sb, the study faces a significant challenge of generalisation of the model to new data. A pyro-hydrometallurgical process is proposed in this study for the selective arsenic removal and the Pb and Sb recovery from lead softening slag, which incorporates NaOH roasting followed by water leaching, carbothermic reduction, and HNO3 leaching as process steps. Lead softening slag, containing 63.9 wt% Pb, 17.7 wt% Sb, and 4.4 wt% As, is first roasted with NaOH at 400°C, followed by water leaching at room temperature. The effect of the roasting temperature and NaOH dosage is investigated with regard to the removal yield of As, Pb, and Sb. The arsenic-free slag is reduced with carbon for Pb recovery as the antimonial lead. The reduction temperature and carbon dosage are optimized by applying FactSage modeling and performing experimental tests for selective Pb recovery. The residual slag is leached with HNO3 solution for the further removal of Pb and enrichment of Sb. The chemical and phase composition of the final leaching residue is determined to assess the possibility of using it as a feedstock for antimony trioxide production. The proposed process flowsheet enables the recovery of Pb and Sb as antimonial lead and antimony trioxide, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This review reports a discussion involving sources, adverse effects, and quantification of emerging contaminants that have polluted the environment, such as chemical elements employed in medicine (antimony, barium, and gadolinium), microplastics in water bodies, in addition to pharmaceutical, illicit drugs, and their metabolites in wastewater and sewage sludge. It also addresses the pollution caused by emerging contaminants in urban areas, such as gas stations and hairdressing salons. Both experimental and theoretical works have demonstrated that two-dimensional materials exhibit strong thickness-dependent electronic and linear optical properties. However, the nonlinear optical (NLO) effect with respect to the thickness still needs to be further investigated, which is of great significance to design different photonic devices. Herein, we develop the physical vapor deposition technique to prepare a series of antimony selenide (Sb2Se 3) films. The relationship between the thickness of Sb2Se3 film and the NLO absorption was investigated by a Z -scan system under 35 fs, 800 nm laser excitation. The result shows the thicker Sb2Se3 film (∼ 50 nm) performs a larger third-order NLO susceptibility (Im χ (3)) approximately − 4. 5 9 × 1 0 − 8 esu, which can be interpreted by the stronger photon absorption, lower saturable intensity, and larger absorption cross-section of ground-state. More importantly, the Im χ (3) absolute value of thick Sb2Se3 film is also far larger than those of graphene, black phosphorus, transition metal dichalcogenide, MXenes, and heterostructure. Selenium as one of the most historical semiconductors has been used for photovoltaics and photodetection, thanks to its excellent optoelectronic properties, superior stability, facile and low‐cost fabrication. However, commercialized Se‐based devices are mainly based on its amorphous state, which significantly limits the charge transport and requires relatively large bias voltage. The charge carrier dynamics of high‐performance crystalline Se thin films are barely reported, and related photodiodes have not been realized mainly limited by the large dark current and slow response speed. Here, poly‐crystalline Se thin films via vacuum evaporation, in situ thermal annealing, and engineered the interfaces with various metal electrodes are fabricated, which resulted in enhanced charge transport properties and reduced device leakage. The optimized Se photodiodes exhibited excellent performance metrics, including extremely low dark current density, decent specific detectivity, and superior stability. Furthermore, the optimized Se photodetectors are also introduced for single‐pixel imaging, which demonstrates excellent sensitivity and great potential for real applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hybrid ns2 metal halides have attracted extensive attention due to the unique photophysical behavior. However, the reasonable improvement of photoluminescence efficiency by accurate structural modulation remains a great challenge. Herein, two kind of antimony halides with formulae as (S)/(R)‐[C6H16N2]3[SbCl5]2·2Cl ((S)/(R)‐1·2Cl) and (S)/(R)‐[C6H16N2]2[SbCl5]2 ((S)/(R)‐2) ([C6H16N2]2+ = 1,2‐Diaminocyclohexane) are developed, in which 0D [Sb4Cl20]8− clusters and 1D infinite [SbCl5]n2n− polyanion chains are adopted, respectively. The stoichiometric tunability enables metastable (S)/(R)‐1·2Cl being transformed to dynamic stable (S)/(R)‐2. All compounds contain a large number of Sb─Cl secondary bonds because of the strong chemical activity of 5s2 electrons. The obtained compounds exhibit broadband orange‐light emission, while photoluminescence quantum yield of (S)/(R)‐2 is significantly enhanced to ≈76% due mainly to the generation of more localized electrons onto 1D chains. Experimental and computational results reveal that efficient broadband emission derives from the synergistic emission of singlet and triplet states, where the presence of shallow trap energy levels leads to anti‐thermal quenching behavior. Furthermore, the highly efficient photoluminescence property allows (S)‐2 to become excellent down‐conversion phosphor for white‐light emitting diode. This work proves that exploring structure‐property relationship in hybrid systems is helpful in promoting the rapid development of high‐performance broadband emission metal halides. Anthraquinone-induced asymmetric N 3 −Sb−O coordination was constructed on C 3 N 4 matrix by a rapid and simple explosive crystallization approach, which contributes to selective O 2 photoreduction to H 2 O 2. [Display omitted] Achieving O 2 photoreduction to H 2 O 2 with high selectivity control and durability while using easily accessible catalyst requires new synthesis strategies. Herein, we propose an asymmteric Sb coordination active center strategy of introducing anthraquinone (AQ) and heptazine to form local N 3 − Sb − O coordination by a rapid and simple explosive crystallization approach, resulting in a mesoporous conjugated heptazine-amide-AQ polymer coordinated Sb (HAAQ-Sb). It is demonstrated that the N 3 − Sb − O coordination effectively suppresses the charge recombination and acts as the highly active site for O 2 adsorption. Moreover, as-introduced AQ units initiate low-barrier hydrogen transfer through a reversible redox process that triggers highly-efficient H 2 O 2 production. A superior apparent quantum yield of 20.2 % at 400 nm and a remarkable solar-to-chemical conversion efficiency of 0.71 % are achieved on the optimal HAAQ-Sb, which is the highest among C 3 N 4 -based photocatalysts at present. The preparation of thin films with flat, compact morphology and fewer defects is the key to the efficiency of solar cells. For antimony selenosulfide (Sb2(S,Se)3), developing flexible preparation methods that can regulate the structure of the films is crucial for the defect control and performance of the devices. Herein, an effective strategy is developed of intervening in the intermediate deposition process of Sb2(S,Se)3 film to regulate its growth on the titanium dioxide (TiO2) electron transport layer (ETL). Thioacetamide (TA) is introduced as an additive and sulfur source during the chemical bath deposition. By reacting with (SbO)OH, it not only eliminates the Sb2O3 phase, but also in‐situ patches the pinholes in the Sb2(S,Se)3 film. In addition, it is found that the increase in sulfur content promotes the transformation of SbS defect to VS defect, while a lower S/Se atomic ratio can simultaneously reduce the formation of SbS and VS defects. As a result, a PCE of 8.52% is obtained, which is the champion efficiency for the solution‐processed TiO2/Sb2(S,Se)3 solar cells. The selective formation of antimony‐carbon bonds via organic superbase catalysis under metal‐ and salt‐free conditions is reported. This novel approach utilizes electron‐deficient stibine, Sb(C6F5)3, to give upon base‐catalyzed reactions with weakly acidic aromatic and heteroaromatic hydrocarbons access to a range of new aromatic and heteroaromatic stibines, respectively, with loss of C6HF5. Also, the significantly less electron‐deficient stibines, Ph2SbC6F5 and PhSb(C6F5)2 smoothly underwent base‐catalyzed exchange reactions with a range of terminal alkynes to generate the stibines of formulae PhSb(C≡CPh)2, and Ph2SbC≡CR [R=C6H5, C6H4‐NO2, COOEt, CH2Cl, CH2NEt2, CH2OSiMe3, Sb(C6H5)2], respectively. These formal substitution reactions proceed with high selectivity as only the C6F5 groups serve as a leaving group to be liberated as C6HF5 upon formal proton transfer from the alkyne. Kinetic studies of the base‐catalyzed reaction of Ph2SbC6F5 with phenyl acetylene to form Ph2SbC≡CPh and C6HF5 suggested the empirical rate law to exhibit a first‐order dependence with respect to the base catalyst, alkyne and stibine. DFT calculations support a pathway proceeding via a concerted σ‐bond metathesis transition state, where the base catalyst activates the Sb‐C6F5 bond sequence through secondary bond interactions. Multi-level phase-change can not only increase the storage density of phase-change memory, but also has important applications in neuromorphic computing. However, its realization is still very challenging. Here, we study the phase-change behaviors of four bilayer films, Sb7Se3(x nm)/Ge50Te50(90 nm), with x = 30, 50, 70, and 100. The expected three-level phase change is not observed at all. Raman and XRD characterizations reveal the occurrence of interlayer coupling between Sb7Se3 and Ge50Te50 layers. De-coupling structure films, Sb7Se3(x nm)/Si(50 nm)/Ge50Te50(90 nm), are proposed and prepared, where the amorphous Si layer serves as de-coupling the interlayer coupling. Three-level phase change is observed in all de-coupling Sb7Se3(x nm)/Si(50 nm)/Ge50Te50(90 nm) films. Our works demonstrate the effect of interlayer coupling on multi-level phase-change, and the de-coupling idea provides a design way for multi-level phase-change materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fast‐charging ability of sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) is mainly determined by a highly effective redox reaction rate. However, traditional metal@carbon composites rarely achieve atom‐level dispersion at high density, resulting in poor reaction rates. Herein, supported by the introduction of carbon vacancies, abundant C─S/C─O chemical bonds are successfully established in a carbon carrier. Then, plenty of Sb single atoms (Sb SA/PC) are first anchored with a high loading of 31.4 wt%, achieving a high yield of 210.56 g per batch. Benefiting from dense Sb─O─C/Sb─S─C interfacial chemical bonds, Sb─S2O coordination configurations are firmly confined in the interior of carbon. Surprisingly, the conductivity of Sb SA/PC‐2 is approximately 2.2 × 107 times greater than that of pristine Sb2S3. Consequently, Sb SA/PC‐2 exhibits ultrahigh fast‐charging capability (201.7 mAh g−1 at 20.0 A g−1) and ultralong cycling life (364.4 mAh g−1 at 5.0 A g−1 after 5000 cycles). Theoretical calculations reveal that the fast‐charging capability can be attributed to the low migration barrier and increased number of active sites. Moreover, owing to the structural integrity of Sb single atoms, phase separation is effectively inhibited. The adverse effects of antimony (Sb) pollution on ecosystems and human health caused by its use, enrichment, and bioaccumulation have become global environmental problems, particularly in China. Based on a scientometric analysis of the research topics and evolution of Sb pollution, 210 peer-reviewed articles across 264 locations in China were selected to analyze Sb concentrations, changes, and risks in different environments (i.e., soil, sediment, and water). Substantially elevated concentrations were reported in the chosen environments throughout the studied literature, with approximately 36.6%, 41.3% and 20.8% of the soil, water and sediment sampling sites, respectively, exceeding the national and international guidelines. Although Sb concentrations were stable in water and sediment, those in soil slightly increased slightly over the past two decades. The majority of studies and the highest Sb concentrations were typically concentrated in Hunan, Guangxi, and Guizhou, where most Sb deposits and intensive mining and smelting activities are concentrated. A temporal analysis over three crucial periods of the Sb industry further indicated that Sb concentrations and pollution had increased in several provinces in recent years. The estimated risk quotient, using Monte Carlo simulations, indicated that species were markedly affected by Sb contamination, with 21.6% of events occurring in the high-risk category. The ingestion of contaminated soils posed the highest potential health risk to the population, with 47.9% of the events indicated to represent at least a low risk. Risks of water ingestion were estimated to exist in 4.9% of the simulated exposure events. More environmental campaigns for Sb pollution control are urgently needed, especially in Sb hotspots, to reduce environmental pressure and avoid direct and indirect hazards to organisms and populations. Sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) represent a viable substitute to lithium‐ion batteries due to their affordability and resource abundance. For SIBs, antimony (Sb) shows potential as anode material but is impeded by the high volumetric variations. Here the challenges of Sb sodium storage by introducing the nanostructured Cu substrate for enhanced Sb adhesion and morphology optimization is addressed, which is realized by fused deposition modeling (FDM) printing of Cu substrate, subsequent high‐temperature sintering, and electrodeposition of Sb. In SIBs, the Sb deposited on three dimensional (3D) printed Cu substrate performs improved cycling stability compared with that of Sb@Cu with commercial Cu foil substrate, which can be attributed to the nanostructure of the 3D‐Cu substrate. Such architecture of 3D‐Cu induces the generation of pine‐leaf‐like Sb clusters to promote stability and kinetics, and it aids the adhesion between the Sb cluster and 3D‐Cu substrate for preventing the Sb detachment and restructuring the Sb cluster to the robust porous ligament‐channel Sb framework. The morphology evolution, (de)sodiation mechanism, and gas evolution are explored by ex situ scanning electron microscope, operando X‐ray diffraction, and operando differential electrochemical mass spectrometry separately. Black phosphorus (BP) has been recognized as an alluring fast‐charging anode for batteries/supercapacitors due to its substantial theoretical capacity, propitious lithiation potential, and large interlayer spacing. Nonetheless, it is encumbered by challenges of low electronic conductivity, momentous volume expansion (≈300%), and pernicious shuttle effect induced by soluble polyphosphides. Here a BP heterostructure covalent bonded by metallic antimony (Sb) is showed, which can promote the reaction dynamics of BP and greatly ameliorate the cycling performance. Robust P─Sb covalent bonds are methodically engineered to regulate the Femi level, endowing enhanced electronic conductivity. The in situ generated Li7SbO6 ionic conductor in the P/Sb interface during the lithiation process ensures the fast Li+ transport. Furthermore, Sb offers strong anchoring and chemical adsorption capability on soluble lithium polyphosphides, preventing the shuttle issue. As a result, a lithium‐ion capacitor (LIC) full‐cell based on Sb@BP/C anode demonstrates a superior energy density of 174.3 W h kg−1 and a power density of 23.7 kW kg−1, as well as exceptional reversible capacity retention. This work provides insights into the regulation of reaction kinetics and chemical adsorption capability of BP, offering guidance for designing high‐capacity and stable BP‐based anodes. Background: This study aimed to investigate the alterations in biochemical and physiological responses of oat plants exposed to antimony (Sb) contamination in soil. Specifically, we evaluated the effectiveness of an arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (AMF) and olive mill waste (OMW) in mitigating the effects of Sb contamination. The soil was treated with a commercial strain of AMF (Rhizophagus irregularis) and OMW (4% w/w) under two different levels of Sb (0 and 1500 mg kg−1 soil). Results: The combined treatment (OMW + AMF) enhanced the photosynthetic rate (+ 40%) and chlorophyll a (+ 91%) and chlorophyll b (+ 50%) content under Sb condition, which in turn induced more biomass production (+ 67–78%) compared to the contaminated control plants. More photosynthesis in OMW + AMF-treated plants gives a route for phenylalanine amino acid synthesis (+ 69%), which is used as a precursor for the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, including flavonoids (+ 110%), polyphenols (+ 26%), and anthocyanins (+ 63%) compared to control plants. More activation of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (+ 38%) and chalcone synthase (+ 26%) enzymes in OMW + AMF-treated plants under Sb stress indicated the activation of phenylpropanoid pathways in antioxidant metabolites biosynthesis. There was also improved shifting of antioxidant enzyme activities in the ASC/GSH and catalytic pathways in plants in response to OMW + AMF and Sb contamination, remarkably reducing oxidative damage markers. Conclusions: While individual applications of OMW and AMF also demonstrated some degree of plant tolerance induction, the combined presence of AMF with OMW supplementation significantly enhanced plant biomass production and adaptability to oxidative stress induced by soil Sb contamination. Kinetics of antimony production via carbothermal reduction of Sb2O3–carbon powder–NaCl mixture using microwave and conventional heating was investigated to identify the dominant controlling mechanism. Results of conventional heating revealed the temperature range of conventional carbothermal reduction reaction is 500°C to 800°C, with the average activation energy of each stage being 81.97 kJ/mol (α = 0.1–0.5), 65.17 kJ/mol (α = 0.5–0.75), and 69.86 kJ/mol (α = 0.75–1.0), respectively. In the microwave field, the carbothermal reduction reaction of raw materials can be completed at 600°C to obtain antimony, and the weight loss data of the carbothermal reduction process were recorded for the first time. The above results show that the microwave field enhanced the interfacial chemical effect, accelerated the interfacial diffusion from the metal phase to the oxide phase, and reduced the activation energy of the carbon thermal reduction process to 6.85 kJ/mol. The growth index of antimony grain growth process is estimated to be 4.33, controlled by the surface diffusion. In this study, poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PETG) was combined with Antimony-doped Tin Oxide (ATO) to create five different composites (2.0–10.0 wt.% ATO). The PETG/ATO filaments were extruded and supplied to a material extrusion (MEX) 3D printer to fabricate the specimens following international standards. Various tests were conducted on thermal, rheological, mechanical, and morphological properties. The mechanical performance of the prepared nanocomposites was evaluated using flexural, tensile, microhardness, and Charpy impact tests. The dielectric and electrical properties of the prepared composites were evaluated over a broad frequency range. The dimensional accuracy and porosity of the 3D printed structure were assessed using micro-computed tomography. Other investigations include scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, which were performed to investigate the structures and morphologies of the samples. The PETG/6.0 wt.% ATO composite presented the highest mechanical performance (21% increase over the pure polymer in tensile strength). The results show the potential of such nanocomposites when enhanced mechanical performance is required in MEX 3D printing applications, in which PETG is the most commonly used polymer. The duration of the high-grade matte converting process is short, the amount of slag is small, and it is difficult for the original impurity removal operation in the low-grade matte converting process to meet the current production demand. Because the removal method for impurity elements during high-grade matte converting is unclear, the phase transformation of impurity elements during this process is investigated in this study. The results show that arsenic exists mainly in the form of FeAsO4 and As2O5, antimony in the form of Sb and Sb2O5, and lead in the form of PbS and PbO in high-grade matte. During the converting process, arsenic and antimony mainly exist in the melt in the form of oxides and gradually aggregate into large particles with increasing copper content in the melt. Lead exists in matte in the form of PbS until the end of the converting process, and PbS is not completely oxidized until the matte converted to blister copper phase. The phase transformation characteristics of copper, iron, sulfur and impurity elements in the process of high-grade matte converting were revealed. This study aimed at determining the concentration and possibility of migration of potentially harmful elements (PHEs) in soils and mining and metallurgical waste in the Silesian-Cracow region. Our research was carried out in selected locations of Ruda Śląska, Świętochłowice, Bytom, and in the Olkusz region (Bukowno) in southern Poland. The concentrations of metals (e.g., Ag, Ba, Ca, Cd, Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn, Pb, Sr, Zn), metalloids (As, Sb), and sulphur were determined in 33 soil samples (with a depth range of 0.0–0.3 m) and 12 slag samples. These studies show an increased concentration of metals, metalloids, and sulphur, exceeding the level of regional geochemical background. The research results indicate that the degree of the chemical transformation of soils in the analysed regions of Ruda Śląska, Bytom, and Bukowno is advanced. This highlights the high concentrations of most metals, i.e., arsenic, antimony, and sulphur, in the surface layer of soils (topsoil) due to historic Zn-Pb ore mining and Zn and Fe metallurgy. The presence of both primary and secondary metal sulphides, sulphates, carbonates, oxides/hydroxides, silicates, and aluminosilicates was found in the mineral composition of soils and slags. Within the global trend to valorise various mineral wastes as substituents in Portland cement clinker raw feed, mining wastes are promising candidates. However, they might still contain high levels of metallic elements. Their fate in the kiln is not always understood as well as their incorporation within the various clinker's phases. This is especially the case for antimony. Its in situ microanalysis by the means of energy‐dispersive spectroscopy is tricky since several of its L lines (Lα1 = 3604,72 eV, Lα2 = 3595,32 eV) overlap with calcium lines (Kα1 = 3691,68 eV, Kα2 = 3688,09 eV). Hence, at low concentrations, it is not possible to visualise its characteristics peaks. Increasing the counting rate by increasing the acceleration current results in the generation of spurious sum peaks, rendering the analysis not viable. Wavelength dispersive spectroscopy (i.e. electron microprobe) allows a better spectral resolution and quantification of Sb in the clinker phases. In a Portland cement clinker doped with 1% of Sb‐bearing mining waste, the Sb2O3 content in belite and alite is in the 0.2–0.4 wt.% range as well as for C3A; in C4AF the content is higher, from 1.4 wt.% to 2 wt.%. However, there are microstructural evidence that Sb forms blebs from less than 1 μm in diameter up to 10 μm, included in calcium silicates. Hence, its incorporation in the lattice of calcium silicates is dubious. However, for ferrites and aluminates there is no microstructural evidence for remaining Sb‐bearing phases, suggesting a direct incorporation in crystal lattices. This powerful technique allows the quick estimation of almost the whole periodic table with a single detector. Towards the end of the 19th century and the early 20th century, France was the world's largest producer of antimony, especially due to the rich deposits in the Brioude‐Massiac area. Even though all the mining and smelting activities are long gone, there are still some remains of those activities. The most original of those is the use of roasting slags as aggregates in former plant walls or industrial building. They are macroscopically characterised by a black or red colour with a vesicular aspect similar to natural pozzolanas. Common petrography and mineralogy tools have been used to characterise those slags: optical mineralogy, scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM‐EDS) and X‐ray diffraction (XRD). To gain an insight into their mineral complexity, a QEMSCAN map has been produced. The mineralogy is typical of high‐temperature slags: cristobalite, quartz, mullite, fayalite‐forsterite series and spinel. The antimony content is quite high, up to seven percent, under the form of various antimony oxides and native antimony. The aim the present study was to investigate the impact of novel pentavalent organobismuth and organoantimony complexes on membrane integrity and their interaction with DNA, activity against Sb(III)‐sensitive and ‐resistant Leishmania strains and toxicity in mammalian peritoneal macrophages. Ph3M(L)2 type complexes were synthesized, where M = Sb(V) or Bi(V) and L = deprotonated 3‐(dimethylamino)benzoic acid or 2‐acetylbenzoic acid. Both organobismuth(V) and organoantimony(V) complexes exhibited efficacy at micromolar concentrations against Leishmania amazonensis and L. infantum but only the later ones demonstrated biocompatibility. Ph3Sb(L1)2 and Ph3Bi(L1)2 demonstrated distinct susceptibility profiles compared to inorganic Sb(III)‐resistant strains of MRPA‐overexpressing L. amazonensis and AQP1‐mutated L. guyanensis. These complexes were able to permeate the cell membrane and interact with the Leishmania DNA, suggesting that this effect may contribute to the parasite growth inhibition via apoptosis. Taken altogether, our data substantiate the notion of a distinct mechanism of uptake pathway and action in Leishmania for these organometallic complexes, distinguishing them from the conventional inorganic antimonial drugs. The electronic structure of co-doped SrSnO 3 (SSO) thin films were investigated using photoemission and X-ray absorption spectroscopy. We studied the band structure of SSO and its tuning with La/Sb co-doping at A- and B-sites. We observed an increased conduction bandwidth with doping due to the reduced oxygen octahedral tilting. The presence of oxygen vacancies at the film's surface and the electron doping resulted in the reduction of Sn 4 + to Sn 2 +. The global reserve of antimony is gradually declining while its demand continuously grows, rendering antimony an increasingly scarce metal. Antimony has been highlighted as a critical raw material in the EU owing to its economic significance and high supply risk. Due to the dispersed uses and low antimony concentration of the main antimony end-use, i.e. flame retardant in plastics, little antimony has been recovered from waste plastics to date. Many countries will have to rely on recovering antimony from refractory ores and metallurgical residues. For the purpose of efficient and selective antimony recovery with minimal economic cost and environmental impact, researchers proposed various innovative pyrometallurgical, hydrometallurgical, and electrochemical processes. This paper reviews the state-of-the-art technologies for the antimony separation and recovery from refractory ores and metallurgical residues. The advantages and limitations of these technologies are discussed with respect to antimony recovery efficiency and the impurity level of the products. In response to the high content of antimony in the lean solution of antimony electrolytic deposition and the high grade of antimony in the agitation rate antimony residue from acidification and precipitation, which leads to low antimony recovery in alkaline leaching after blending with low-grade ore, experiments were conducted on acidification and precipitation of antimony cooling crystallization alkaline leaching electrolytic deposition process. Through single-factor acidification and precipitation experiments, the effects of pH, reaction temperature, agitation rate, and cooling crystallization on the effect of acidification and precipitation of antimony were investigated. The results show that under the conditions of pH 5 for acidification and precipitation of antimony, a cooling crystallization temperature of 10°C a slurry concentration of 20% for alkaline leaching, Na2S concentration of 85 g/L, NaOH concentration of 40 g/L, alkaline leaching time of 1 h, NaOH concentration of 70 g/L in the electrolytic deposition solution, current of 4. 80 A, cathode area to anode area ratio of 5.8:1, and electrolytic deposition time of 50 h, the antimony recovery rate in the electrolytic deposition experiment reached 82.29%, with an antimony grade on the cathode of 92.72%, thus enhanc- ing resource utilization. The low sensitivity of working electrodes is usually the bottleneck of the electrochemical testing method. In this work, bismuth antimonate nanosheets have excellent electrochemical performance and are used as the modified materials for glassy carbon electrodes. Bismuth antimonate nanosheets were prepared by a simple coprecipitation method. By changing the calcination temperature and holding time, the effects of these factors on the morphology and structure of the bismuth antimonate nanosheets were investigated. The bismuth antimonate-modified electrode was used for the electrochemical detection of benzoic acid. The results showed that a pair of semi-reversible redox peaks appeared at − 0.48 V and + 0.05 V, and the intensity of the redox peaks gradually increased with the increase of benzoic acid concentration and scan rate. The bismuth antimonate nanomaterial-modified glassy carbon electrode has a wide linear detection range (0.0002–2 mM), low detection limit (0.053 µM) and good cycling performance for detecting benzoic acid. The good electrochemical performance shows that bismuth antimonate nanomaterials have potential application value in the detection of benzoic acid. Chalcogenide composites, a category of non-oxide glasses, have shown great potential in various applications such as optoelectronics, thermal imaging, memory-switching devices, lasers, and more. Owing to the distinctive physical properties inherent in chalcogenide glasses, these materials have garnered significant interest across various technological domains. This study aims to analyze the impact of incorporating sulfur (S) and antimony (Sb) into (S3Sb2)x(S2Ge)100−x:x = 10, 20, 30 chalcogenide composites, assessing their radiation shielding, structural, physical, and electrical properties. Three distinct composites, designated as SSbGe-10, SSbGe-20, and SSbGe-30, are irradiated with gamma photons across an energy range of 0 to 15 MeV. The assessment of the radiation shielding attributes is conducted through the utilization of the FLUKA Monte Carlo (MC) Code. Phillips and Thorpe's theory is employed to analytically estimate structural and physical attributes such as Coordination Number (CN), bond-bending constraints (NS), bond-stretching constraints (NC), constraints Number (Ncons), Floppy mode (F), and stoichiometry (R). The electrical features of the provided specimens are analyzed through the utilization of the effective electron conductivity (Ceff), as ascertained by the Phy-X: PSD software. The findings indicate that the augmentation of the x value within the range of 10–30 wt.% positively augments the gamma photon shielding efficacy of the composite materials. Both NS and NC demonstrate diminishing patterns, encompassing the range of 2.64 to 2.575 and 7.56 to 7.30, respectively. Additionally, the stoichiometry (R > 1) for the investigated samples indicates that the chosen glasses are rich chalcogenide composites. The exhaustive examination of the physical, radiation shielding, and electrical characteristics of the prepared chalcogenide glasses provides valuable insights for subsequent investigations into various chalcogenide glass formulations. Phase-change memory (PCM) is one of the leading candidates for the next generation nonvolatile memory. As a growth-dominated crystalline material, Sb2Te3 is of rapid crystallization speed while its poor thermal stability limits its application. Doping Ti can significantly enhance its amorphous stability but inevitably slows down its crystallization speed. How to balance the contradiction between thermal stability and operation speed remains challenging. In this work, we proposed a gradient Ti-doped Sb2Te3 phase-change material and device. This gradient doping strategy compensates for the negative effect of Ti doping on the crystallization rate of Sb2Te3 via the template effect of the lower doping concentration layer. Very small lattice mismatch between the Sb2Te3 layers with different Ti doping concentrations is verified by x-ray diffraction characterization. The crystallization temperature of a gradient Ti-doped Sb2Te3 thin film is raised up to 172.6 °C and the same 50 ns operation speed as a pure Sb2Te3 device is achieved in the corresponding PCM device. Furthermore, the gradient distribution of Ti elements and the corresponding progressive crystallization phenomenon are verified by transmission electron microscopy revealing the microscopic origin of rapid crystallization speed. Chalcogenide thin films that undergo reversible phase changes show promise for use in next-generation nanophotonics, microelectronics, and other emerging technologies. One of the many studied compounds, Ge2Sb2Te5, has demonstrated several useful properties and performance characteristics. However, the efficacy of benchmark Ge2Sb2Te5 is restricted by amorphous phase thermal stability below ∼150 °C, limiting its potential use in high-temperature applications. In response, previous studies have added a fourth species (e.g., C) to sputter-deposited Ge2Sb2Te5, demonstrating improved thermal stability. Our current research confirms reported thermal stability enhancements and assesses the effects of carbon on crystalline phase radiation response. Through in situ transmission electron microscope irradiation studies, we examine the effect of C addition on the amorphization behavior of initially cubic and trigonal polycrystalline films irradiated using 2.8 MeV Au to various doses up to 1 × 1015 cm−2. Supercontinuum (SC) generation from alkali antimony zinc borate glasses was investigated using a femtosecond laser. The optical bandgap values were determined for all the glass samples. An enhancement in the generated SC is seen from sodium-doped glass although it possesses the least bandgap among the glass samples. The physical parameters of the glasses such as density, molar volume, refractive index, oxide ion polarizability, and optical basicity have been analyzed and discussed. The smaller values of the metallization criterion indicate the tendency of the glass samples to exhibit metallic behavior, which, in turn, affects the non-linear optical properties of the glasses. The shift in the binding energies of metal cations and oxygen anions was observed using XPS analysis, which gives an understanding about the extent of overlapping of valence orbitals in the glass system. This study primarily focused on forming pure single-phase FeSb and explored its thermoelectric, mechanical, and electrochemical properties since no reports are available. The FeSb binary alloy has been synthesized through the vacuum melting method, and the phase formation has been confirmed through powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). The PXRD results show that the synthesized FeSb binary alloy belongs to the hexagonal crystal structure with space group P63/mmc, which coincides with ICSD no. 53971. The pure single phase has been formed by creating a deficiency of 10 % in antimony. The High-Resolution Scanning Electron Microscopy (HR-SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis have been used to identify the pure single-phase and various elemental components of the hot-pressed pellet of FeSb 0.9. The atomic wt.% of iron (Fe) and antimony (Sb) have been identified through EDX spectral analysis. The highest Seebeck coefficient value of −5.4 μV/K is achieved at 497 K, and the lowest electrical conductivity value of 24049 S/m is achieved at 447 K. The hardness of the material is found to be 6.076 GPa, which is much more sufficient for thermoelectric material during industrial handling. The magnetic characteristics of the prepared pure phase FeSb compound have also been measured by Vibrating Scanning Magnetometer (VSM) analysis, which has a weak ferromagnetic nature. Nitrogen doping in chalcogenide materials represents a promising way for the improvement of material properties. Indeed, N doping in GeSbTe phase-change alloys have demonstrated to greatly enhance thermal stability of their amorphous phase, necessary to ensure the data retention of the final phase-change memory device. Although it is suggested that the N doping in such alloys leads to the preferential formation of Ge-N bonds, further questions concerning the bonding, in particular, Sb-N and Te-N, and the structural arrangement remain unclear. In this paper, we present a study of as-deposited elemental Ge, Sb, and Te systems and their nitrides (i.e., GeN, SbN, and TeN alloys), using a large range of N content from 0 up to about 50 at. %. The as-deposited alloys are investigated by Fourier transform infrared and Raman spectroscopy. We identify the active vibrational modes associated with the formation of Ge-N, Sb-N, and Te-N bonds, highlighting the impact of N incorporation on the structure of these elemental systems. We further qualitatively compare the GeN, SbN, and TeN experimental spectra with the "ab initio" simulations of the related ideal nitride structures. Finally, the analysis of elemental nitride layers is extended to N-doped GeSbTe alloys, providing deeper understanding of nitrogen bonding in such ternary systems, employed in memory technology. LSbCl2, an air- and moisture-stable antimony(V)–dipyrrin complex at room temperature, was obtained by treating an excess amount (20 eq.) of SbCl3 with a trianionic N2O2-type tetradentate dipyrrin ligand (L) under visible-light irradiation and O2 atmosphere. The Cl ligands in LSbCl2 were replaced by OH ligands via hydrolysis, yielding LSb(OH)2. Further, the molecular structures and optical properties of the Sb(V)–dippyrin complexes were investigated. While LSbCl2 was non-fluorescent, LSb(OH)2 exhibited an intense red fluorescence with a photoluminescence quantum yield of 68%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Three new antimony corroles bearing nitro group at ortho-, meta-, and para-position of 10-phenyl 2-NBPC-Sb(1), 3-NBPC-Sb(2) and 4-NBPC-Sb(3), respectively, were prepared. The application of antimony corrole in the electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was explored for the first time. The results demonstrate that antimony corrole has good electrocatalytic activity in the HER with acetonitrile and neutral buffer solvents; the catalytic efficacy follows the order 1 > 2 > 3. Specifically, complex 1 exhibited a remarkable turnover frequency (TOF) of 17.65 s−1 in acetonitrile when using trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) served as the proton source at an overpotential of 642 mV. As a class of emerging photoluminescent materials, hybrid halide crystals have drawn research attention for their potential application in the fields of light‐emitting, security, and waveguide. Nevertheless, hybrid halide crystals containing antimony with long‐term stability and tunable light emission are still increasingly in demand. In this work, serial new hybrid halide crystals (BZA)2ZnCl4·2H2O:xSb3+ (x = 0–0.2, x represents the reaction ratio) and (BZA)2SbCl5 are synthesized (BZA = 2,4‐diamino‐6‐phenyl‐1,3,5‐triazine). In (BZA)2ZnCl4·2H2O:xSb3+ crystals, Sb3+ cations replace partial Zn2+ cations to form [SbCl4]− tetrahedron. Red light emission caused by the substitution of Sb3+ for Zn2+ enhances as the doping rate increases, resulting in the tunable emission from light blue to pink and finally to dark red. There are two kinds of Sb3+ in (BZA)2SbCl5 crystal. Sb(1) has a sixfold coordination with Cl to form a [Sb(1)Cl5]∞ 1D zigzag chain. Sb(2) atom adopts a fivefold coordination with Cl and is separated from each other by BZA+ cations. (BZA)2SbCl5 crystal shows bright orange‐yellow light emission with a photoluminescence quantum yield of 45%. Moreover, the organic–inorganic hybrid metal halide crystals containing antimony have excellent long‐term stability, with phase and luminescence keeping nearly unchanged after more than six months in ambient air. Strong spin–orbit coupling (SOC) in iridates has long been predicted to lead to exotic electronic and magnetic ground states. Ba 2 YIr O 6 (BYIO) has attracted particular attention due to the expectation of a J eff = 0 state for Ir 5 + ions under the j j -coupling scheme. However, controversies surround the actual realization of this state, as finite magnetic moments are consistently observed experimentally. We present a multi-physics study of this system by progressively introducing nonmagnetic Sb 5 + ions in place of Ir 5 + ( Ba 2 YIr ​ 1 − y Sb ​ y O ​ 6 , BYISO). Despite similar charge and ionic radii, Sb ​ 5 + doping appears highly inhomogeneous, coexisting with a fraction of nearly pure BYIO regions, as confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). This aligns with observations in related compounds. While inhomogeneity creates uncertainty, the doped majority phases offer valuable insights. It is relevant that the inclusion of even small amounts of Sb ​ 5 + (10–20%) leads to a rise in magnetization. This strengthens our previous suggestion that magnetic Ir ions form dynamic singlets in BYIO, resulting in a near-nonmagnetic background. The observed moment enhancement with nonmagnetic doping supports the breakdown of these singlets. Furthermore, the magnetization steadily increases with an increasing Sb ​ 5 + content, contradicting the anticipated approach towards the J eff = 0 state with increased SOC due to reduced hopping between Ir ​ 5 + ions. This reinforces the presence of individual Ir ​ 5 + moments. Overall, our findings suggest that Ba ​ 2 YIrO ​ 6 might not possess sufficiently strong SOC to be solely described within the j j -coupling picture, paving the way for further investigation. Two mixed peri-substituted phosphine-chlorostibines, Acenap(PiPr2)(SbPhCl) and Acenap(PiPr2)(SbCl2) (Acenap = acenaphthene-5,6-diyl) reacted cleanly with Grignard reagents or nBuLi to give the corresponding tertiary phosphine-stibines Acenap(PiPr2)(SbRR') (R, R' = Me, iPr, nBu, Ph). In addition, the Pt(II) complex of the tertiary phosphine-stibine Acenap(PiPr2)(SbPh2) as well as the Mo(0) complex of Acenap(PiPr2)(SbMePh) were synthesised and characterised. Two of the phosphine-stibines and the two metal complexes were characterised by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The peri-substituted species act as bidentate ligands through both P and Sb atoms, forming rather short Sb-metal bonds. The tertiary phosphine-stibines display through-space J(CP) couplings between the phosphorus atom and carbon atoms bonded directly to the Sb atom of up to 40 Hz. The sequestration of the P and Sb lone pairs results in much smaller corresponding J(CP) being observed in the metal complexes. QTAIM (Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules) and EDA-NOCV (Energy Decomposition Analysis employing Naturalised Orbitals for Chemical Valence) computational techniques were used to provide additional insight into a weak n(P)→σ*(Sb-C) intramolecular bonding interaction (pnictogen bond) in the phosphine-stibines. In the face of flourishing industrialization and global trade, heavy metal and metalloid contamination of the environment is a growing concern throughout the world. The widespread presence of highly toxic compounds of arsenic, antimony, and cadmium in nature poses a particular threat to human health. Prolonged exposure to these toxins has been associated with severe human diseases, including cancer, diabetes, and neurodegenerative disorders. These toxins are known to induce analogous cellular stresses, such as DNA damage, disturbance of redox homeostasis, and proteotoxicity. To overcome these threats and improve or devise treatment methods, it is crucial to understand the mechanisms of cellular detoxification in metal and metalloid stress. Membrane proteins are key cellular components involved in the uptake, vacuolar/lysosomal sequestration, and efflux of these compounds; thus, deciphering the multilevel regulation of these proteins is of the utmost importance. In this review, we summarize data on the mechanisms of arsenic, antimony, and cadmium detoxification in the context of membrane proteome. We used yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a eukaryotic model to elucidate the complex mechanisms of the production, regulation, and degradation of selected membrane transporters under metal(loid)-induced stress conditions. Recently, zero‐dimensional (0D) metal halides with highly efficient tunable emission have shown broad prospects in the field of anti‐counterfeiting. However, the limited emission colors and low resolution, as well as the severe thermal quenching of self‐trapped excitons, have greatly constrained their applications. In this study, a high thermal stability compound by precisely manipulating the multi‐exciton emission within Sb‐doped hybrid manganese chloride is developed, which exhibits three emission colors (green, orange, and yellow). It is discovered that this compound exhibits significant color changes in the low‐temperature range. Optical temperature sensing, anti‐counterfeiting, and information encryption models based on this compound are successfully designed. This research proposes an effective strategy for designing novel eco‐friendly and efficient anti‐counterfeiting and temperature sensing materials, paving the way for optical temperature sensing and multi‐key encryption‐decryption applications. A "redox-stat" RMnR bioreactor was employed to simulate moderately reducing conditions (+ 420 mV) in Sb-contaminated shooting range soils for approximately 3 months, thermodynamically favoring Mn(IV) reduction. The impact of moderately reducing conditions on elemental mobilization (Mn, Sb, Fe) and speciation [Sb(III) versus Sb(V); Fe2+/Fe3+] was compared to a control bioreactor RCTRL without a fixed redox potential. In both bioreactors, reducing conditions were accompanied by an increase in effluent Sb(V) and Mn(II) concentrations, suggesting that Sb(V) was released through microbial reduction of Mn oxyhydroxide minerals. This was underlined by multiple linear regression analysis showing a significant (p < 0.05) relationship between Mn and Sb effluent concentrations. Mn concentration was the sole variable exhibiting a statistically significant effect on Sb in RMnR, while under the more reducing conditions in RCTRL, pH and redox potential were also significant. Analysis of the bacterial community composition revealed an increase in the genera Azoarcus, Flavisolibacter, Luteimonas, and Mesorhizobium concerning the initial soil, some of which are possible key players in the process of Sb mobilization. The overall amount of Sb released in the RMnR (10.40%) was virtually the same as in the RCTRL (10.37%), which underlines a subordinate role of anoxic processes, such as Fe-reductive dissolution, in Sb mobilization. This research underscores the central role of relatively low concentrations of Mn oxyhydroxides in influencing the fate of trace elements. Our study also demonstrates that bioreactors operated as redox-stats represent versatile tools that allow quantifying the contribution of specific mechanisms determining the fate of trace elements in contaminated soils.
