Search

Calorimeters are a crucial component for most detectors mounted on modern colliders. Their tasks include identifying and measuring the energy of photons and neutral hadrons, recording energetic hadronic jets, and contributing to the identification of electrons, muons, and charged hadrons. To fulfill these many tasks while keeping costs reasonable, the calorimeter construction requires good and thoughtful balancing with other components of the detector. Much harder operation conditions during LHC's high luminosity Run 5 and beyond bring new technological and computational challenges. This requires optimization of technologies, layouts, readouts, reconstruction algorithms to achieve the best overall physics performance for the limited cost. In the traditional approach, the reconstruction of the physical objects in the calorimeter must be matched to the calorimetric showers simulation used. The continuous growth in model complexity in high-energy physics (HEP) collider experiments demands increasingly time-consuming model fits. We show first results on the application of conditional invertible networks (cINNs) to this challenge. Specifically, we construct and train a cINN to learn the mapping from signal strength modifiers to observables and its inverse. The resulting network infers the posterior distribution of the signal strength modifiers rapidly and for low computational cost. We present performance indicators of such a setup including the treatment of systematic uncertainties. Additionally, we highlight the features of cINNs estimating the signal strength for a vector boson associated Higgs production analysis of simulated samples of events, which include a simulation of the CMS detector. High Energy Physics software has been a victim of the necessity to choose one implementation language as no really usable multi-language environment existed. Even a co-existence of two languages in the same framework (typically C++ and Python) imposes a heavy burden on the system. The role of different languages was generally limited to well encapsulated domains (like Web applications, databases, graphics), with very limited connection to the central framework. The new development in the domain of the compilers and run-time environments has enabled ways for creating really multilanguage frameworks, with seamless, user-friendly and high-performance inter-operation of many languages, which traditionally live in disconnected domains (like C-based languages vs JVM languages or Web languages). HEP data-processing frameworks are essential ingredients in getting from raw data to physics results. But they are often tricky to use well, and they present a significant learning barrier for the beginning HEP physicist. In addition, existing frameworks typically support rigid, collider-based data models, which do not map well to neutrino-physics experiments like DUNE. Neutrino physicists thus expend significant effort working around framework limitations instead of using a framework that directly supports their needs. Presented here is Meld, a Fermilab R&D project, which intends to address these limitations. By leveraging modern C++ capabilities, state-of-the-art concurrency libraries, and a flexible data model, it is possible for beginning (and seasoned) HEP physicists to execute framework programs easily and efficiently, with minimal coupling to framework-specific constructs. The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), under construction in South China, primarily aims to determine the neutrino mass hierarchy and to precise measure the neutrino oscillation parameters. The data-taking is expected to start in 2024 and the detector plans to run for more than 20 years. The development of the JUNO offline software (JUNOSW) started in 2012, and it is quite challenging to maintain the JUNOSW for such a long time. In the last ten years, tools such as Subversion, Trac, and CMT had been adopted for software development. However, new stringent requirements came out, such as how to reduce the building time for the whole project, how to deploy offline algorithms to an online environment, and how to improve the code quality with code review and continuous integration. To meet the further requirements of software development, modern development tools are evaluated for JUNOSW, such as Git, GitLab, CMake, Docker, and Kubernetes. This contribution will present the software development system based on these modern tools for JUNOSW and the functionalities achieved: CMake macros are developed to simplify the build instructions for users; CMake generator expressions are used to control the build flags for the online and offline environments; a tool named git-junoenv is developed to help users partially checkout and build the software; a script is used to build and deploy the software on the CVMFS server; a Docker image with CVMFS client installed is created for continuous integration; a GitLab agent is set up to manage GitLab runners in Kubernetes with all the configurations in a GitLab repository. The Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) is a future experiment aimed at studying the properties of the Higgs boson with high precision. This requires excellent track reconstruction and particle identification (PID) performance, which is achieved in the 4th conceptual detector design of the CEPC experiments by combining a silicon tracker and a drift chamber. The drift chamber not only improves track reconstruction but also provides excellent PID with the cluster counting method. To evaluate the performance of this design accurately, a detailed simulation is necessary. In this paper, we present a refined drift chamber simulation by combining Geant4 and Garfield++. However, traditional waveform simulation using Garfield++ is extremely time-consuming, which motivates us to develop a fast waveform simulation method using a neural network. We validate the method using real data from the BESIII experiment. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach and provide valuable insights for future experiments. IDEA (Innovative Detector for an Electron-positron Accelerator) is an innovative general-purpose detector concept, designed to study electron-positron collisions at future e+e− circular colliders. The detector will be equipped with a dual read-out calorimeter able to measure separately the hadronic component and the electromagnetic component of the showers initiated by the impinging hadrons. Particle flow algorithms (PFAs) have become the paradigm of detector design for the high energy frontier and this work focuses on a project to build a particle flow algorithm for the IDEA detector using Machine Learning (ML) techniques. ML is used for particle reconstruction and identification profiting of the high granularity of the fiber-based dual-readout calorimeter. Neural Networks (NN) are built for electron reconstruction inside the calorimeter. The performance of several NN architectures is shown, with particular attention to the layer setup and the activation function choices. The performance is evaluated on the energy resolution function of the reconstructed particles. The algorithm is trained using both parallel CPUs and GPU, and the time performance and the memory usage of the two approaches are systematically compared. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) has undertaken a major upgrade during the LHC Long Shutdown 2. The increase in the detector data rates led to a hundredfold increase in the input raw data, up to 3.5 TB/s. To cope with it, a new common Online and Offline computing system, called O2, has been developed and put in production. The O2/FLP (First Level Processor) system, successor of the ALICE DAQ system, implements the critical functions of detector readout, data quality control and operational services running in the CR1 data centre at the experimental site. Data from the 15 ALICE subdetectors are read out via 8000 optical links by 500 custom PCIe cards hosted in 200 nodes. It addresses novel challenges such as the continuous readout of the TPC detector while keeping compatibility with legacy detector front-end electronics. This paper discusses the final architecture and design of the O2/FLP system and provides an overview of all its components, both hardware and software. It presents the selection process for the FLP nodes, the different commissioning steps and the main accomplishments so far. To cope with the challenging environment of the planned high luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC), scheduled to start operation in the late 2020s, CMS will replace its entire tracking system. The requirements for the tracker are largely determined by the long operation time of 10 years with a peak instantaneous luminosity of up to 7.5 × 1034 cm−2 s−1 in the ultimate performance scenario. In particular, the Inner Tracker (IT) is being completely redesigned featuring a front-end chip capable to deal with hit rates of up to 3.38 GHz/cm2. The communication between the front-end and the back-end electronics occurs through an optical link based on a custom Low-power Gigabit Transceiver which sends data at 10 and 2.5 Gbps on the uplink and downlink, respectively. The number of pixels has been increased by a factor of 6 with respect to the present detector, resulting in an unprecedented number of channels of about two billion, and covering a pseudorapidity region up to 4. This represents a challenging requirement for the data acquisition system since it needs to efficiently configure, monitor, and calibrate them. A dedicated data acquisition system, written in C++ and based on a custom µTCA board to handle trigger, data, and detector control, equipped with an FPGA, was developed to fully test and characterize the IT modules on a bench and with beam tests. The ALICE Experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has undergone a major upgrade during LHC Long Shutdown 2 in 2019-2021, which includes a new computing system called O2 (Online-Offline). To ensure the efficient operation of the upgraded experiment and of its newly designed computing system, a reliable, high performance, full-featured experiment control system has also been developed and deployed at LHC Point 2. The ALICE Experiment Control System (AliECS) is a microservices-oriented system based on state-of-the-art cluster management technologies that emerged recently in the distributed and high-performance computing ecosystem. It is designed, developed and maintained as a comprehensive solution and single entry point for control of experiment data acquisition (up to 3.5 TB/s) and processing. This communication describes the AliECS architecture by providing an in-depth overview of the system's components, interfaces, features, and design elements, as well as its performance. It also reports on the experience with AliECS during the first year of ALICE Run 3 data taking with LHC beam, including integration and operational challenges, and lessons learned from real-world use. To cope with it, a new common Online and Offline computing system, called O2, has been developed and put in production. The online Data Quality Monitoring (DQM) and the offline Quality Assurance (QA) are critical aspects of the data acquisition and reconstruction software chains. The former intends to provide shifters with precise and complete information to quickly identify and overcome problems while the latter aims at selecting good quality data for physics analyses. Both DQM and QA typically involve the gathering of data, its distributed analysis by user-defined algorithms, the merging of the resulting objects and their visualization. This paper discusses the final architecture and design of the Quality Control (QC), which runs synchronously to data taking and asynchronously on the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid. Following the successful first year of data taking with beam, we will present our experience and the lessons we learned, before and after the LHC restart, when monitoring the data quality in a realworld and challenging environment. In this work, we present preliminary results of a global fit of the typeII two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) with the tool GAMBIT. Our study includes various constraints, including the theoretical constraints (unitarity, perturbativity and vacuum stability), Higgs searches at colliders, electroweak physics and flavour constraints. With the latest experimental results, our results not only confirm past studies but also go further in probing the model. We find, for example, that the measurements of B→K*µ+µ− angular observables cannot be explained in the type-II 2HDM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Future Circular Collider (FCC) is designed to provide unprecedented luminosity and centre-of-mass energies. The physics reach and potential of the different FCC options e+e−, pp, ep, has been studied and published in dedicated Conceptual Design Reports (CDRs) at the end of 2018. Conceptual detector designs have been developed for such studies and tested with a mixture of fast and full simulations. The investigations for all options have been conducted using a common software framework called FCCSW. In this paper, after summarising the improvements implemented in FCCSW to achieve the results included in the CDRs, we will present the current development plans to support the continuation of the physics potential and detector concept optimisation studies in view of future strategic decisions, in particular for the electron-positron machine. A new bookkeeping system called Jiskefet is being developed for A Large Ion Collider Experiment (ALICE) during Long Shutdown 2, to be in production until the end of LHC Run 4 (2029). Jiskefet unifies two functionalities: a) gathering, storing and presenting metadata associated with the operations of the ALICE experiment and b) tracking the asynchronous processing of the physics data. It will replace the existing ALICE Electronic Logbook and AliMonitor, allowing for a technology refresh and the inclusion of new features based on the experience collected during Run 1 and Run 2. The front end leverages web technologies much in use nowadays such as TypeScript and NodeJS and is adaptive to various clients such as tablets, mobile devices and other screens. The back end includes an OpenAPI specification based REST API and a relational database. This paper will describe the organization of the work done by various student teams who work on Jiskefet in sequential and parallel semesters and how continuity is guaranteed by using guidelines on coding, documentation and development. The KEDR experiment is ongoing at the VEPP-4M e+e− collider at Budker INP in Novosibirsk. The collider center of mass energy range covers a wide spectrum from 2 to 11 GeV. Most of the up-to-date statistics were taken at the lower end of the energy range around the charmonia region. Planned activities at greater energies up to the bottomonia would lead to a significant increase of event recording rates and accelerator backgrounds, thus stressing the existing DAQ and trigger systems beyond their limits. The described DAQ upgrade plan includes: the redesign of the trigger electronics using modern components to improve the trigger decision time; the development of new readout processors using ethernet connections; new software for collecting events and electronics management; high level of parallelization of data transfers and events processing; improved reliability based on readout computing cluster with redundancy. The upgraded DAQ system is going to be very flexible and could be considered as a concept prototype of the projected BINP Super Charm-Tau Factory. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The proposed high-energy and high-luminosity Electron–Ion Collider (EIC) will provide one of the cleanest environments to precisely determine the nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) in a wide x–Q2 range. Heavy flavor production at the EIC provides access to nPDFs in the poorly constrained high Bjorken-x region, allows us to study the quark and gluon fragmentation processes, and constrains parton energy loss in cold nuclear matter. Scientists at the Los Alamos National Laboratory are developing a new physics program to study heavy flavor production, flavor tagged jets, and heavy flavor hadron-jet correlations in the nucleon/nucleus going direction at the future EIC. The proposed measurements will provide a unique way to explore the flavor dependent fragmentation functions and energy loss in a heavy nucleus. They will constrain the initial-state effects that are critical for the interpretation of previous and ongoing heavy ion measurements at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and the Large Hadron Collider. We show an initial conceptual design of the proposed Forward Silicon Tracking (FST) detector at the EIC, which is essential to carry out the heavy flavor measurements. Deep learning neural network technique is one of the most efficient and general approach of multivariate data analysis of the collider experiments. The important step of such analysis is the optimization of the input space for multivariate technique. The MPD spectrometer at the NICA collider complex is currently under construction in Dubna. The main goal of the experiment is to obtain fundamental knowledge about the properties of hot and dense baryonic matter formed in heavy-ion collisions in the energy range of (4-11) A*GeV. Crucial detector of the MPD experiment is a large-sized barrel electromagnetic calorimeter (ECal), which (together with the tracking system) will provide unique opportunities for the measurement and identification of a wide variety of charged and neutral particles carrying information about early stages of the interactions. Important tasks related to the construction of the Shashlyk-type MPD ECal are the development, production and study of the calorimeter modules with projective geometry. To improve performance of ECal, the light collection in the modules should be optimized. We present the methods and technologies developed to increase the light yield with different types and configurations of reflectors on the end of wavelengths shifting fibers. Large data amount, about 1 ab−1 of integrated luminosity, collected in experiments with the Belle detector provided a good possibilities for precise measurements of the hadronic cross sections in e+e− annihilation. Main results obtained in this field with the Belle detector as well as perspectives of the new experiments with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider is discussed in this report. We present results obtained by the KLOE Collaboration at the DAфNE e+e− collider located in Frascati Laboratories, Italy. The results concern precise measurements of several η meson decays such as Dalitz slope parameters and charge asymmetries for η → π + π − π 0 $ \eta \to \mathop \pi \nolimits^ + \mathop \pi \nolimits^ - \mathop \pi \nolimits^0 $ , branching ratio and plane asymmetry for η → π + π − e + e − $ \eta \to \mathop \pi \nolimits^ + \mathop \pi \nolimits^ - \mathop {\rm{e}}\nolimits^ + \mathop {\rm{e}}\nolimits^ - $ , and first observation of η → e + e − e + e − $ \eta \to \mathop {\rm{e}}\nolimits^ + \mathop {\rm{e}}\nolimits^ - \mathop {\rm{e}}\nolimits^ + \mathop {\rm{e}}\nolimits^ - $ along with its branching ratio determination. Also preliminary studies of η → π 0 γ γ $ \eta \to \mathop \pi \nolimits^0 \gamma \gamma $ decay channel are presented as well as physics perspectives for many different processes for the ongoing KLOE−2 data taking. Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB collider is a major upgrade of the Belle experiment at the KEKB asymmetric e+e− collider at the KEK. The experiment will focus on the search for new physics beyond the standard model via high precision measurement of heavy flavor decays and search for rare signals. The reaction e+e−→ π+ π−π0η has been studied in the experiment with the SND detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. The reaction proceeds via the four intermediate states: ωη, φη, a0ρ, and structureless π+π−π0η state, which may be, for example, ρ(1450) with ρ(1450) → ρ(770)η. The total e+e−→ π+π−π0η cross section and cross section for the four intermediate states have been measured and fitted in the vector meson dominance model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Recent SND results on the study of the process e+e−→ π0γ are presented. The study is based on data collected with the SND detector on the VEPP-2M and VEPP-2000 e+e− colliders with an integrated luminosity of 25 and 46 pb−1, respectively. The VEPP-2M data used in this analysis are recorded in the center-of-mass energy range 0.60-1.38 GeV, while the VEPP-2000 data in the range 1.05-2.00 GeV. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

At the end of 2016 the SND detector resumed data taking at the upgraded VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. The analysis of data accumulated in 2010-2013 with an integrated lumonosity of 70 pb−1 is continuing. The CMD-3 detector is installed at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider at BINP (Novosibirsk, Russia). It is a general-purpose detector, equipped with a tracking system, two crystal (CSI and BGO) calorimeters, liquid Xe calorimeter, TOF and muon systems. The main goal of experiments at CMD-3 is a study of exclusive modes of e+e−→ hadrons at energies s ≤ 2 $ \sqrt s \le $ GeV. In particular, these results provide an important input for calculation of the hadronic contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment. The first round of data taking was performed in 2011–2013, when about 60 1/pb were taken in the center-of-mass (c.m.) energy range from 0.32 to 2.0 GeV. Here we present a survey of results of data analysis. Between 2013 and 2016 the collider and the detector were upgraded. The data taking resumed by the end of 2016. In the first run after the upgrade about 50 1/pb were collected at the energy range between 1.28 and 2.007 GeV. We discuss the upgrade and the first preliminary results from the new data. The use of machine learning techniques for classification is well established. They are applied widely to improve the signal-to-noise ratio and the sensitivity of searches for new physics at colliders. In this study I explore the use of machine learning for optimizing the output of high precision experiments by selecting the most sensitive variables to the quantity being measured. The precise determination of the electroweak mixing angle at the Large Hadron Collider using linear or deep neural network regressors is developed as a test case. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The development of the GeantV Electromagnetic (EM) physics package has evolved following two necessary paths towards code modernization. A first phase required the revision of the main electromagnetic physics models and their implementation. The main objectives were to improve their accuracy, extend them to the new high-energy frontier posed by the Future Circular Collider (FCC) programme and allow a better adaptation to a multi-particle flow. Most of the EM physics models in GeantV have been reviewed from theoretical perspective and rewritten with vector-friendly implementations, being now available in scalar mode in the alpha release. The second phase consists of a thorough investigation on the possibility to vectorise the most CPU-intensive physics code parts, such as final state sampling. We have shown the feasibility of implementing electromagnetic physics models that take advantage of SIMD/SIMT architectures, thus obtaining gains in performance. After this phase, the time has come for the GeantV project to take a step forward towards the final proof of concept. This takes shape through the testing of the full simulation chain (transport + physics + geometry) running in vectorized mode. A comprehensive and efficient environment and data monitoring system is a vital part of any HEP experiment. In this paper we describe the software web-based framework which is currently used by the CMD-3 Collaboration at the VEPP-2000 Collider and partially by the Muon g-2 experiment at Fermilab to monitor the status of data acquisition and the quality of data taken by the experiments. The system is designed to meet typical requirements and cover various use-cases of DAQ applications, starting from the central configuration, slow control data monitoring, data quality monitoring, user-oriented visualization, control of the hardware and DAQ processes, etc. Being an intermediate middleware between the front-end electronics and the DAQ applications the system is focused to provide a high-level coherent view for shifters and experts for robust operations. In particular, it is used to integrate various experiment dependent monitoring modules and tools into a unified Web oriented portal with appropriate access control policy. New measurement of the e+e−→ nn̅cross section based on the data set recorded in 2017 with the SND detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider is presented.Inthe energyrangefromthe thresholdupto2GeVthe cross section is almost flat. A study of hadron production at the nucleon-antinucleon threshold has been performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. A very fast rise with an about 1 MeV width has been observed in the e+e−→ pp̅ cross section. A sharp drop in the e+e−→ 3(π+π−) cross section has been con?rmed and found to have a width of less than 2 MeV, in agreement with the observed fast rise of the e+e−→ pp̅ cross section. For the ?rst time a similar sharp drop is demonstrated in the e+e−→ K+K−π+π− cross section. The behavior of the e+e−→ 3(π+ π−), K+K−π+π− cross sections cannot be explained by an interference of any resonance amplitude with continuum, therefore this phenomenon cannot be due to a narrow near-threshold resonance. The cross section of the process e+e−→ KS KL π0 has been studied with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 electron-positron collider in the center-of-mass energy range from 1.1 to 2 GeV. Preliminary results on the total cross section of the process are presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A search for the process e+e−→ D*0(2007) has been performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e−-collider. Two main decay modes of the D*0(2007) decay, D0π0 and D0γ, followed by D0 → K+π−π+π−are used in this analysis. With an integrated luminosity of 3.7 pb−1 collected at the center-of-mass energy Ec.m. =2006.62 MeV our preliminary upper limit is BD*0→e+ e− <1.6× 10−6 at 90%C.L. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A future giant electron-positron collider, operating at the energy frontier, is a natural proposal in order to push particle physics into new regime of precise measurements, in particular in the sectors of electroweak observables and Higgs boson parameters. The four projects of such accelerators: two linear (ILC and CLIC) and two circular (FCC and CEPC) are currently in various stages of development. In view of the update of European HEP strategy for particle physics and expectations of important decisions from Japan, China and USA, the next few years will be critical as far as the decisions about the construction of such colliders are concerned. The paper concisely reviews the relevant aspects and challenges of the proposed accelerators and detectors along with the presumed schedules of construction and operation. The motivation and very attractive physics program for new e+e− colliders, spanning in particular perspectives in Higgs, electroweak, and neutrino sectors, together with expectations of searches for New Physics, will be discussed as well. We introduce a new framework to encode information in the QCD power spectrum on an event-by-event basis from which jets and their substructure can be extracted. Our new "power jets" scheme requires no jet radius parameter, and allows pileup to be extracted in situ. The NICA collider can operate with polarized light ions in two modes. At the Preferred Spin mode (PS mode) the periodic spin motion along the closed orbit is unique, i.e. the static magnetic lattice determines a single stable orientation of the beam polarization at any collider’'s place. At the Spin Transparency mode (ST mode) any spin direction repeats every particle turn along the closed orbit, i.e. the collider’s magnetic lattice is transparent to the spin. ST mode allows one to use a completely new approach to carry out experiments with polarized ions at high precision level. The features of ion polarization control in the ST mode are discussed. A new polarization control mode called a Spin Transparency (ST) mode is currently being actively developed for new rings. The ST mode is an intrinsic feature of figure-8 rings such as the JLEIC at Jefferson Lab. A racetrack collider can be converted to the ST mode by inserting two identical Siberian snakes into its opposite straights as at NICA, JINR. The ST mode allows one to develop a completely new approach to the measurement of the EDMs of both protons and deuterons. The idea of the method is to use the significant enhancement of the EDM signal by the interaction of the EDM with arc magnets, which has an interference effect. A unique feature of this technique is the conceptual capability of measuring the EDM signal in the whole energy range of a ring without introducing additional electric fields using only its magnetic fields. The Multi-Purpose Detector (MPD) at NICA collider has a substantial discovery potential concerning the exploration of the QCD phase diagram in the region of high net-baryon densities and moderate temperatures. The anisotropic transverse flow is one of the key observables to study the properties of dense matter created in heavy-ion collisions. The MPD performance for anisotropic flow measurements is studied with Monte-Carlo simulations of gold ions at NICA energies S N N = 4 − 11   GeV $\sqrt {{S_{NN}}} = 4 - 11\,{\rm{GeV}}$ using different heavy-ion event generators. Different combinations of the MPD detector subsystems are used to investigate the possible systematic biases in flow measurements, and to study effects of detector azimuthal non-uniformity. The resulting performance of the MPD for flow measurements is demonstrated for directed and elliptic flow of identified charged hadrons as a function of rapidity and transverse momentum in different centrality classes. The proton-proton collisions have been extensively used as a baseline reference for nucleus-nucleus collisions. In this work, Monte Carlo simulations of inelastic head-on pp interactions at s = 6 − 25   GeV $\sqrt s = 6 - 25\,{\rm{GeV}}$ were performed to study the possibilities of the Multi–Purpose Detector (MPD) to register data from small systems at the energy range of NICA. For that purpose the Monte Carlo models EPOS 1.99 and UrQMD 3.4 were used as event generators to analyse the charge particle yield from pp collisions in the framework of MpdRoot. The production of protons, pions and kaons from pp collisions was studied through their mean multiplicity, rapidity spectra and particle ratios as function of the collision energy. The yield of Λ hyperons was also estimated by means of pure Monte Carlo and the reconstruction of the simulated data in MPD. The comparison with recent data from NA61/SHINE experiment is presented. The given functional self-similarity solution quantitatively describes angular, energy and A-dependences of inclusive production cross sections for hadrons in relativistic nuclear collisions. It is applied to quantitative estimation of D, as well as φ and J/ψ meson production in collider experiment at the NICA accelerator complex with heavy nuclei. The physics opportunities offered by using the multi-TeV LHC beams for a fixed target experiment have been widely discussed in recent years. This mode is convenient to investigate rare processes of particle production and polarization phenomena because the expected luminosity exceeds the luminosity of the collider. The main physical goals of these experiments are: i) investigations of the large-x gluon, antiquark and heavy quark content in the nucleon and nucleus; ii) investigations of the dynamics and spin of quarks and gluons inside nucleus; iii) studies of the ion-ion collisions between SPS and RHIC energies towards large rapidities. With the LHC lead beam energy scan on a fixed target it would be possible to investigate the energy range up to 72 GeV to search for the critical point for the phase transition to the Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP). In the physics of accelerators and colliders there is one important parameter as "impedance". Impedance determines the level of the influence of the field induced by the beam in the longitudinal and transverse directions on the beam motion. Knowledge of the impedances is necessary for estimating the conditions for the stability of the beam motion in the designed accelerator. Thus, the main objective at the moment is the calculation of the impedance of each device in the collider for further calculation of their contribution to the general impedance. In the report the physics of the beam motion in an accelerator chamber is considered, the method of calculating the impedance - the method of electro-magnetic simulation through the CST Studio Suit software package is described, an example of the calculation of the impedance for the part of vacuum chamber of the quadrupole magnet, which is a part of the arch of the collider NICA is shown. One of the theories which attracted much attention for the new physics is the Supersymmetry. It explains the strong and the electroweak interactions from the grand unification scale down to the weak-scale. The last missing piece in the Standard Model, the Higgs boson, is discovered at the LHC, but there is no clue for any of the supersymmetric particles so far. The number of free parameters and the region for the supersymmetry is quite large, and it is highly probable that LHC could not get any hint of these sparticles. In this study, the chargino pair production via electron-positron and photon-photon collisions are studied in the context of the Stau-Neutralino annihilation scenario. This scenario is proposed after the negative results presented by the LHC. The calculation is carried out for all the possible one loop diagrams. The production cross section as a function of the collision energy is presented. The partonic cross section reaches up to 1.2 pb at the tree level, and the NLO correction reduces the cross section up to 19%. Employing this benchmark model for the chargino pair production shows the potential of the future lepton-lepton and photon-photon colliders regarding the searches of the supersymmetry.
