Highlights In this study, we compare synergistic performance of two different nanofillers, namely halloysite nanotubes (HNT) clay and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), in conjunction with a fixed concentration (0.125 phr) of semi‐anthracite coal‐derived graphene oxide (AC‐GO) on mechanical properties improvement of EGFPs (E‐glass fiber‐based epoxy resin composites). The dispersion of AC‐GO with HNT clay (GO‐H) and AC‐GO with MWCNT (GO‐C) within epoxy matrix was achieved using sonication and homogenization. Further mixture was incorporated into mats of E‐glass fiber employing “vacuum‐assisted resin infusion molding” (VARIM). Significant enhancements (18.3% flexural strength, 14.6% tensile strength, and a slight increase of impact strength (1.8%)) were observed in EGFPs reinforced with GO‐H at 0.50 phr loading of HNT, with an AC‐GO concentration maintained at 0.125 phr. Correspondingly, optimal values for GO‐C reinforced EGFPs at 0.25 phr were 40.3%, 18.7%, and a 10.5% decrease in impact strength, respectively. Analytical techniques such as XRD, FESEM, EDX mapping, and FTIR reveal presence of relatively abundant functionalities and strong interfacial adhesion in GO‐H as well as GO‐C. The cost of HNT clay is approximately 15 times cheaper than industrial‐grade MWCNTs, therefore, these results underscore potential of GO‐H as a very economical nano‐reinforcement alternative to GO‐C for polymer nanocomposites. 0.50 phr HAGRP improves 18.3% flexural, 14.6% tensile, 1.8% impact strengths. Beyond 0.50 phr HAGRP and 0.25 phr CAGRP, mechanical properties decreased. 0.25 phr CAGRP improves 40.3% flexural, and18.7% tensile strengths. The 3D printing of continuous-fiber composites is currently relevant to engineers and researchers. This study aims to characterize and predict the mechanical properties of Onyx/glass fiber specimens printed using 3D printing. The work assesses the impact of glass fiber printing parameters on the mechanical behavior of printed parts and proposes analytical and numerical methods to predict mechanical properties. A physicochemical analysis was conducted on 3D printed continuous glass fibers. The study also investigated the impact of fiber printing parameters on composite parts. The results indicate that the 3D-printed glass fibers consist of nylon, continuous glass fibers, and voids (porosity), which range from 58% to 63%, 31% to 38%, and 5% to 8%, respectively. Mechanical characterizations indicate that printing fiber layers in blocks results in superior mechanical properties compared to printing alternating layers of glass fibers and Onyx. Additionally, the concentric mode of fiber printing can be challenging if the 'start rotation' parameter is not adjusted correctly. Premature specimen breakage occurred when fiber printing began within their useful length, resulting in a deformation at break that was approximately 34% less, depending on the starting position. The proposed analytical and numerical prediction methods had prediction errors of approximately 7% to 12% and 5% to 7%, respectively. For the first time, hierarchical porous amorphous metal–organic frameworks (HP-aMOFs) containing ultramicropores, micropores, and mesopores were synthesized by etching a composite of MOF glass (agZIF-76) and ZnO using ammonia. Fiber‐reinforced composites acquire widespread use in the technologically advanced sectors on account of their lightweight and outstanding strength. Considering the significant connection between component quality and durability, bearing strength is a critical factor in the mechanically assembled parts during the manufacturing process. Therefore, in this paper, an experimental study was performed on hybrid glass fiber/aluminum‐mesh composites to assess the impact of abrasive water jet (AWJ) drilling on delamination and bearing strength. The samples were drilled, and the delamination damage was assessed. Finally, the bearing test was conducted on the sample in conformity with ASTM D5961M. The impact of stress distribution on the specimen's failure patterns was studied. Experimental outcomes reveal that the GFA specimen had a 2.9% higher average bearing strength than the AGF specimen. The drilling‐induced damage was determined to be the primary factor responsible for a 27% reduction in bearing strength. The optimization of operational parameters yields improved bearing load and lower damage. A significant level of conformity was detected by the regression accuracy and validation test results with a residual error of less than 10%. With the increased use of fibre reinforced composites (FRP), the design of new generation of composite structures with high stiffness and a ductile material behaviour is required to cope with complex load scenarios and high damage tolerances. This can be achieved, in particular, by a combination of conventional fibre-reinforced composites (FRP), which possess high stiffness and strength with metallic materials characterized by their high ductility and associated higher energy absorption capacity. Currently, there are no solutions for hybridisation of high performance filament yarns, metal filament yarns and thermoplastic filament yarns on micro level. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to develop a fibre hybrid composite based on hybrid yarn consisting of glass, steel and polypropylene filament yarns and to compare its tensile and impact properties with those of the composite reinforced only with glass filament yarn. The tensile and impact properties of the unidirectional hybrid composites produced from the developed multi-material hybrid yarn consisting of steel, glass and polypropylene filament yarns are compared with those of a non-hybrid composite reinforced exclusively with glass filament yarn. The results show that by hybridising with steel fibres a characteristic post-failure behaviour can be achieved, so that the developed multi-material hybrid yarns have a high potential for use in composites with high crash and impact performance requirements, where safety demands are essential. Silica aerogels or xerogels are renowned dried gels with low density, high surface area, higher porosity, and better thermal stability which makes it suitable for aerospace, light weight structures, thermal insulation, and hydrophobic coatings. But brittle behaviour, low mechanical strength, and high manufacturing cost restrict its usage. Recently, the addition of various fibres like glass or carbon fiber is one of the best reinforcement methods to minimize the brittle behaviour. Supercritical drying technique usually used to develop aerogel that is expensive and difficult to produce in bulk quantities. Higher cost obstacle can be tackled by applying ambient pressure drying technique to develop xerogel. But researcher observed cracks in samples prepared through the ambient pressure drying technique is still a major shortcoming. The aim of this study is to systematically analyze the influence of silica gel fiber reinforcement on silica xerogels, encompassing morphology, mechanics, thermal behaviour, compression test, and thermogravimetric characteristics. The research used a low-cost precursor named Tetraethyl orthosilicate to synthesize low-cost composite Silica xerogel and glass and carbon fiber added to provide strength and flexibility to the overall composite. Silica gel works as binder in strengthening the xerogel network. The investigation employs scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to examine the morphology of the composites, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analysis to affirm hydrophobic characteristics, compression tests to assess mechanical strength, and thermogravimetric tests to study weight loss under different conditions. SEM results reveals that glass fibers exhibit lower adhesion to the xerogel network compared to carbon fibers. FTIR analysis confirms the hydrophobicity of the composite silica xerogel. Compression tests showed that, under a 48% strain rate, the carbon fiber composite demonstrates superior compressive stress endurance. Thermogravimetric tests revealed a 1% lower weight loss for the carbon fiber composite compared to the glass fiber composite. This work concludes that glass and carbon fiber together with silica gel particles successfully facilitated in developing flexible, less costly, hydrophobic, and crack-free silica xerogel composites by APD. In fiber‐reinforced composites, the interfacial bonding between fibers and the matrix is crucial for determining the material's performance. A vacuum‐assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) process was utilized in this work to fabricate glass fiber fabric‐reinforced polyamide 6 (GFF/PA6) composites through in‐situ polymerization using caprolactam (CL) as the precursor. To enhance the fiber‐matrix interfacial bonding, polyethylene glycol (PEG) was incorporated into the polymerization system, improving the hydrogen bonding between the matrix and fibers. Morphological observations and interface layer analysis revealed that the introduction of PEG resulted in improved interfacial bonding and increased interface layer thickness. Molecular dynamics simulations indicated that the amino formate groups formed by the reaction with PEG exhibited more hydrogen bonds with the hydroxyl groups on the glass fiber surface, thereby promoting interfacial bonding between the matrix and fibers. When the PEG content was 10 wt%, the tensile strength and the elongation at break of the corresponding composite increased by 160% and 300% compared to GFF/PA6 composites without PEG. This study presents a promising strategy for enhancing the fiber‐matrix interfacial bonding by modifying the matrix, offering a prospective approach for developing high‐strength thermoplastic composites. In recent years, the growing environmental awareness has prompted increased attention towards the substitution of nonrecyclable thermosetting epoxy resin composite materials with recyclable thermoplastic composite materials. The objective of this study is to utilize a laboratory‐made polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)/methyl methacrylate (MMA) binary liquid resin (PMBLR) to prepare thermoplastic resin/glass fiber (GF) composite materials using the vacuum‐assisted perfusion method. These composites are then compared with GF‐reinforced thermosetting epoxy resin composites. The investigation reveals a significant influence of benzoyl peroxide (BPO) content on the mechanical properties of pure MMA and PMBLR casting resins, which also incorporate N‐methyl‐N‐((1‐methyl‐1H‐indol‐3‐yl) methyl) aniline (DMA) as redox composite initiators. The optimal mechanical properties for both types of casting resins are achieved at a DMA:BPO:MMA ratio of 0.5:1.2:100. Additionally, at a PMMA concentration of 24 wt% in PMBLR under this specific initiator ratio, the composites demonstrate the most desirable properties. Furthermore, a comparative analysis of PMBLR/GF composites and epoxy/GF composites indicates that the former exhibit superior 90° tensile strength, bending strength, and short beam shear strength. The fracture morphology analysis highlights discernible micro‐ductile fracture characteristics in PMBLR/GF composites, distinguishing them from epoxy/GF composites. Dynamic thermomechanical analysis (DMA) results further reveal a higher storage modulus and loss factor in PMBLR/GF composites when compared to epoxy/GF composites. Cellulose-based fiber-reinforced composites are gaining attention for their eco-friendly attributes and cost-effectiveness. However, their application in high-strength domains remains limited due to the dominance of synthetic and inorganic fibers. This study explores the potential of composites utilizing “Ioncell fiber”, a unique cellulose fiber, in comparison to carbon, cellulosic, and glass fiber composites. Our findings reveal that Ioncell fiber composites exhibit earlier thermal degradation compared to carbon fiber composites according to thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Analysis via scanning electron microscopy (SEM) highlights exceptional interaction between Ioncell fiber and bio-based epoxy, surpassing other fibers. Additionally, assessment of composite hydrophilicity or hydrophobicity through contact angle measurements reveals distinctive surface characteristics, with Ioncell exhibiting a contact angle of 80°, comparable to carbon fiber’s contact angle of 75°, while glass transition results demonstrate Ioncell fiber’s transformation closely resembling that of carbon fiber composites. Although Ioncell fiber exhibits lower strength (approximately 50 cN per tex) compared to carbon fiber (222 cN per tex), Ioncell composites demonstrate promising strength levels nearly half that of carbon fiber composites (approximately 230 MPa for Ioncell fiber composite compared to 500 MPa for carbon fiber composite). These results underscore the potential of Ioncell composites as sustainable alternatives to petroleum-based and synthetic fiber composites, thus contributing to a more environmentally sustainable future. It is generally known that the incorporation of crystals in the glass matrix can enhance the ductility of metallic glasses (MGs), at the expense of reduced strength, and that the deformation of MGs, particularly during shear banding, can induce crystal formation/growth. Here, we show that these known trends for the interplay between crystals and deformation of MGs may hold true or become inverted depending on the size of the crystals relative to the shear bands. We performed molecular dynamics simulations of tensile tests on nanocrystal-bearing MGs. When the crystals are relatively small, they bolster the strength rather than the ductility of MGs, and the crystals within a shear band undergo redissolution as the shear band propagates. In contrast, larger crystals tend to enhance ductility at the cost of strength, and the crystal volume fraction increases during deformation. These insights offer a more comprehensive understanding of the intricate relationship between deformation and crystals/crystallization in MGs, useful for fine-tuning the structure and mechanical properties of both MGs and MG–crystal composites. Reaching high densification upon sintering β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) has always been challenging. Its combination with bioactive glass (BG) is a common strategy to increase its densification, but still highly limited due to phase transformation. Cold sintering process (CSP) has gained attention in the search for alternatives to traditional sintering (TS), but the number of bioceramics explored is still limited. Thus, the main goal of this work was to use S53P4 BG as a sintering agent of β-TCP in CSP. Pellets of β-TCP/S53P4 (0, 30, and 60 wt%) were consolidated by CSP at 200 °C while being pressed at 166 MPa and compared with pellets sintered by TS at 1200 °C. Whereas β-TCP pellets showed no densification by CSP, the addition of 30 and 60 wt% S53P4 led to a significative increase in their density, of 76 ± 4% and 85 ± 3%, equivalent to the pellets consolidated by TS. CSP pellets were consolidated without showing the crystallization of S53P4 and presented a highly densified microstructure. Both CSP and TS pellets showed apatite formation in simulated body fluid (SBF) after 7 and 14 days. Thus, CSP has shown to be a promising alternative to TS when consolidating β-TCP/S53P4. Laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) is a prospective and promising technique of additive manufacturing of which there is a growing interest for the development and production of Fe-based bulk metallic glasses and amorphous–nanocrystalline composites. Many factors affect the quality and properties of the resulting material, and these factors are being actively investigated by many researchers, however, the factor of the inert gas atmosphere used in the process remains virtually unexplored for Fe-based metallic glasses and composites at this time. Here, we present the results of producing amorphous–nanocrystalline composites from amorphous Fe-based powder via LPBF using argon and helium atmospheres. The analysis of the microstructures and phase compositions demonstrated that using helium as an inert gas in the LPBF resulted in a nearly three-fold increase in the amorphization degree of the material. Additionally, it had a beneficial impact on phase composition and structure in a heat-affected zone. The received results may help to develop approaches to control and improve the structural-phase state of amorphous–nanocrystalline compositional materials obtained via LPBF. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Polymer composites with lightweight, ultralow dielectric constant, excellent thermal insulation and mechanical properties are in high demand in aerospace, transport, wireless communications and other fields. In this work, the three‐dimensional woven Kevlar/glass hybrid composites (3DKGC) with lightweight, high strength, excellent dielectric and thermal insulation properties were obtained with the Kevlar fiber and glass fiber as the raw materials. The results showed that the volume content of air in 3DKGC is over 82% and the volume density is as low as 0.29 g·cm−3, while the compression strength is as high as 7.68 MPa. 3DKGC exhibits an ultra‐low dielectric constant of 1.21. The wave transmission performance of 3DKGC was simulated using the CST software. The simulation results showed that 3DKGC has a return loss of 0.036 and a gain of 0.9982. Moreover, the 3DKGC provides superior thermal insulation than three‐dimensional woven Kevlar composites (3DKC) and conventional polystyrene foams. In summary, this work offers an attractive material that holds significant potential for application in aerospace, wireless communications and other fields where lightweight multi‐purpose composites are required. SiC/Cu/Gr composites with a boundary of SiO 2 –Cu 2 O glass phase (GP) were manufactured through the hot pressing sintering process at a temperature of 950 °C. The influence of graphite (Gr) on the mechanical properties and tribological behavior under high-temperature were purposefully investigated. The microhardness of 1.37 ± 0.02 GPa is achieved by SiC/Cu/Gr composites with a graphite content of 1 vol%. The friction coefficient decreases significantly to 0.64 ± 0.02, while the average wear rate is as low as 2.2 × 10−3±0.02 mm3/(N·m) at a friction temperature of 500 °C. The results indicate that the excellent lubrication effect of graphite is utilized in the SiC/Cu/Gr composites, leading to a significant improvement in its high-temperature wear resistance performance. This behavior is attributed to the molten state of GP at high temperatures, which acts as a "binder" promoting high interface bonding strength between particles, coupled with the solid-phase lubrication provided by graphite. A cost-effective solution to the problems that the automotive industry is facing nowadays regarding regulations on emissions and fuel efficiency is to achieve weight reduction of automobile parts. Glass fiber-reinforced polymers are regularly used to manufacture various components, and some parts may also contain thermoplastic elastomers for toughness improvement. This work aimed to investigate the effect of styrene-(ethylene-co-butylene)-styrene triblock copolymer (E) and treated fly ash (C) on the morphological, thermal, and mechanical properties of long glass fiber (G)-reinforced polypropylene (PP). Results showed that the composites obtained through melt processing methods presented similar thermal stability and improved (nano)mechanical properties compared to 25–30 wt.% G-reinforced PP composites (PP-25G/PP-30G). Specifically, the impact strength and surface hardness were greatly improved. The addition of 20 wt.% E led to a 25–39% increase in impact strength and surface elasticity, while the addition of 6.5 wt.% C led to a 16% increase in surface hardness. The composite based on 25 wt.% G, 6.5 wt.% C, and 20 wt.% E presented the best-balanced properties (8–17% increase in impact strength, 38–41% increase in axial strain, and 35% increase in surface hardness) compared with PP-30G/PP-25G. Structural and morphological analysis confirmed the presence of a strong interaction between the components that make the composites. With the current development of the 5G infrastructure, there presents a unique opportunity for the deployment of battery-less mmWave reflect-array-based sensors. These fully-passive devices benefit from having a larger detectability than alternative battery-less solutions to create self-monitoring megastructures. The presented 'smart' skin sensor uses a Van-Atta array design enabling ubiquitous local strain monitoring for the structural health monitoring of composite materials featuring wide interrogation angles. Proof-of-concept prototypes of these 'smart' skin millimeter-wave identification tags, that can be mounted on or embedded within common materials used in wind turbine blades, present a highly-detectable radar cross-section of − 33.75 dBsm and − 35.00 dBsm for mounted and embedded sensors respectively. Both sensors display a minimum resolution of 202 μ -strain even at 40 ∘ off-axis enabling interrogation of the fully-passive sensor at oblique angles of incidence. When interrogated from a proof-of-concept reader, the fully-passive, sticker-like mmID enables local strain monitoring of both carbon fiber and glass fiber composite materials. The sensors display a repeatable and recoverable response over 0–3000 μ -strain and a sensitivity of 7.55 kHz/ μ -strain and 7.92 kHz/ μ -strain for mounted and embedded sensors, respectively. Thus, the presented 5G-enabled battery-less sensor presents massive potential for the development of ubiquitous Digital Twinning of composite materials in future smart cities architectures. Generally, bioinspired structures often exhibit superior mechanical performance compared to traditional structures, due to their excellent impact resistance and energy absorption. In the present study, we design a bioinspired transparent hexahedral structure, in which the glass panels on the first and second layers are arranged in different ways. Using experiments and finite element method simulations, we demonstrate that the bioinspired transparent hexahedral structure exhibits high-impact resistance because its local severe damage forms easily, dissipating the projectile's kinetic energy. Under a high-speed steel ball impact, the damage of bioinspired hexahedral structure concentrates on the center region, exhibiting a progressive damage and failure mode. This is in stark contrast to that of the traditional structure, in which the panel cracks are divergent. More importantly, the design of bioinspired hexahedral structures may decrease the intensity of tensile stress wave and shear stress waves on the surface of the glass panel of the composites. Therefore, the high-impact resistance of the bioinspired hexahedral structure is significantly improved with a relatively small damaged area. Zirconia based materials are widely used as dental materials because of their good mechanical properties and aesthetic, but there is a need of enhancing its biological response for clinical use. In that sense, a bioactive glass is added to zirconia matrix with the aim of improving the material biocompatibility. The effect of the raw powders synthesis method for dense zirconia/bioactive glass biomaterials was investigated. Two paths were developed to obtain zirconia-based composites with 2.5, 5 and 10 wt% addition of a bioactive glass (referred as 64S): the traditional powder mixture method, and a core-shell powder through sol-gel particle nanocoating. Particle size distribution and SEM images were performed for the powders characterization. Sol-gel coating was analyzed with TEM images and FT-IR spectra. The sintering process was studied with an optical dilatometer up to 1450 °C, and the density of the samples was calculated with the Archimedes method, in the range of 1100–1500 °C. The final crystalline phases were studied with Rietveld quantification through XRD analysis and the microstructure with SEM/EDS analysis. Vickers indentation method was used to evaluate the hardness. Biological properties were studied with murine fibroblast cell line L929 and were analyzed by fluorescence microscopy. Results showed that samples obtained by the sol-gel particle coating method enhanced the sintering process, with a sintering temperature in the range 1300–1400 °C; they showed a more homogeneous and pore-free microstructure with a higher retention of the t-ZrO 2 phase after cooling, in comparison with the samples obtained by the powder mixture method. The Vickers hardness of composites obtained by the core-shell particles had values above 11 GPa, and composites with 2.5 and 5 wt% 64S, sintered at 1400 °C, presented Vickers values of ∼13 GPa. The pursuit of compact and integrated devices has stimulated a growing demand for multifunctional sensors with rapid and accurate responses to various physical parameters, either separately or simultaneously. Fluorescent fiber sensors have the advantages of robust stability, light weight, and compact geometry, enabling real-time and noninvasive signal detection by monitoring the fluorescence parameters. Despite substantial progress in fluorescence sensors, achieving multifunctional sensing in a single optical fiber remains challenging. To solve this problem, in this study, we present a bottom-up strategy to design and fabricate thermally drawn multifunctional fiber sensors by incorporating functional nanocrystals with temperature and pressure fluorescence responses into a transparent glass matrix. To generate the desired nanocrystal-in-glass composite (NGC) fiber, the fluorescent activators, incorporated nanocrystals, glassy core materials, and cladding matrix are rationally designed. Utilizing the fluorescence intensity ratio technique, a self-calibrated fiber sensor is demonstrated, with a bi-functional response to temperature and pressure. For temperature sensing, the NGC fiber exhibits temperature-dependent near-infrared emission at temperatures up to 573 K with a maximum absolute sensitivity of 0.019 K-1. A pressuredependent upconversion emission is also realized in the visible spectral region, with a linear slope of -0.065. Hybrid composites are an advanced solution that offers multifunctional capabilities, including exceptional strength-to-weight ratios, vibrational damping and impact absorption. This work describes the damping capacity and flexural behaviour of a hybrid fibrous-particulate system composed of glass/carbon fabrics and three distinct micro-inclusions: silica particles, carbon waste microfibres, and cement. A statistical methodology based on the full factorial design is applied to identify the effects of fibre stacking sequence, including carbon-C5, glass-G5, C2G3, G3C2, GCGCG and CG3C, microparticle inclusions and matrix/fibre volume fraction (40/60 and 60/40) on damping and bending responses. A non-linear finite element (FE) analysis is conducted to explore the stress distribution based on the stacking sequence and predict the failure mechanisms of the hybrid laminate. The results indicate significant interaction effects, with hybrid architectures showcasing approximately 33% higher performance compared to glass fibre composites. A greater dependence on the fibre layup sequence is found for the damping factor, flexural modulus and strength. Notably, the incorporation of silica microparticles leads to an increase in flexural strength. Furthermore, a greater volume fraction of the matrix phase enhances the rheological efficiency in terms of the fibre-particle interface. In this study, the mechanical performances of glass fiber-reinforced notched and pin-connected composite plates were investigated experimentally and numerically. For this purpose, composite plates with a circular hole, semicircular double-edge notched, U-edge notched, and single and double pin joints were prepared from [ 0 ° ] 8 layer glass fiber composites. Tensile tests were carried out on the obtained specimens. The effect of notch type, number of pins, and position of pins on plate damage load and type was investigated for linear and non-linear material behavior. Progressive failure analysis was performed using the Hashin damage criteria. Subprogram codes were written in the Ansys program using the finite element method. According to the obtained data, it was determined that the type of notch and the number of pins have a significant effect on the damage loads of the plates and the behavior of the material is important in terms of convergence to the experimental results in numerical solutions. In single-pin composites, the type of damage changed from net-tension to shear out as the pin approached the free edge of the plate. It was observed that the distance between the pins did not have any effect on the damage type of the composites in the double-pin joint structure. Compared to single-pin joint composites, double-pin joint composites were found to carry a maximum of 34% more damage load. This study explores the investigations of bamboo fiber-reinforced polyester composites with chopped glass fiber (CGF) filler, focusing on addressing the challenges of low mechanical properties, limited thermal stability, and high moisture absorption. The two types of composites were fabricated using the hand layup method, that is, long unidirectional 0° bamboo fiber (BF) and randomly oriented short bamboo fiber (BP) reinforced a polyester matrix with chopped glass fiber (CGF) filler. By incorporating CGF filler, significant improvements in mechanical properties were achieved across both types of bamboo fiber, surpassing the limitations of unfilled composites. Notably, the composite formulation consisting of 40% wt. of unidirectional 0° BF and 5% wt. of CGF filler exhibited superior ultimate tensile strength, flexural strength, impact strength, water absorption, and thermal stability. This composite demonstrated remarkable enhancements, with increases of up to 131.22 MPa, 128.76 MPa, 113.3 kJ/m2, 1.94% water absorption, and up to 255°C (representing a 10% improvement) in thermal stability compared to the unfilled composite. Statistical analysis revealed quadratic models for the mechanical properties of long unidirectional 0° bamboo fiber composites, while water absorption exhibited a linear two-factor interaction model. For randomly oriented short bamboo fiber, the models for tensile, flexural, and water absorption properties were linear, while the impact energy model showed a quadratic relationship. These statistical models provide valuable insights into predicting the properties of bamboo fiber-reinforced polyester composites. Metallic glasses exhibit unique mechanical properties. For metallic glass composites (MGC), composed of dispersed nanocrystalline phases in an amorphous matrix, these properties can be enhanced or deteriorated depending on the volume fraction and size distribution of the crystalline phases. Understanding the evolution of crystalline phases during devitrification of bulk metallic glasses upon heating is key to realizing the production of these composites. Here, results are presented from a combination of in situ small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS and WAXS) measurements during heating of Zr‐based metallic glass samples at rates ranging from 102 to 104 Ks−1 with a time resolution of 4ms. By combining a detailed analysis of scattering experiments with numerical simulations, for the first time, it is shown how the amount of oxygen impurities in the samples influences the early stages of devitrification and changes the dominant nucleation mechanism from homogeneous to heterogeneous. During melting, the oxygen rich phase becomes the dominant crystalline phase whereas the main phases dissolve. The aerospace, automotive, and energy industries can use fiber‐reinforced composites due to their high specific strength and stiffness. However, unexpected external impacts in work cause internal damage and residual strength loss in composite structures. Another ongoing issue is the sustainable management of composite materials' end‐of‐life. The quasi‐static indentation properties of glass epoxy composites are investigated in this study using different kinds of novel filler materials that are recycled from old composite materials: recycled milled carbon (rmCF), recycled milled Kevlar filler (rmKF), and an innovative hybrid filler (rmBF) composed of recycled milled carbon and Kevlar fillers (rmBF). Surface roughness and hardness studies assessed the quasi‐static indentation (QSI) response of neat glass epoxy and glass epoxy composites loaded with fillers using indentation force, absorbed energy, residual dent depth, and evolution of damage area. Compared to the baseline samples, the rmCF composites performed exceptionally well, showing a 16% increase in peak force, a 59% decrease in damaged area, and a 6.32% and 22.5% reduction in surface roughness, respectively (Ra and Sa). After QSI tests, rmC filler samples had 26.8% higher residual flexural strength than neat glass epoxy composites in a three‐point bending test. Through toughening mechanisms like filler interlocking and bridging, micrographs captured using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) showed that recycled fillers provide a higher level of stiffness, better energy dissipation, less damaged area, and overall improved hardness. Manufacturing and investigating metallic‐glass‐fiber‐reinforced epoxies is an important new attempt to present their potential to contribute to the aviation industry. In order to explore the energy absorption in novel CoFeSiB metallic‐glass‐fiber/epoxy resin composites, CoFeSiB/epoxy resin composite cylinders with different fiber volume fractions were prepared by a hot‐pressing method. The amorphism of the metal fibers was analyzed using x‐ray diffraction. The quasi‐static compression tests were performed on different fiber oriented samples with a diameter of 3.6 mm and a height of 7.2 mm. The sample with the fiber orientation [0°/90°] has a higher energy absorption capacity, compared to the one with the fiber orientation [0°/0°]. The dynamic‐ compression tests were performed on the [0°/0°] samples with a diameter of 3 mm and height of 6 mm at different air pressures. The compression fracture surfaces were examined by scanning electron microscope. Then the energy absorption mechanism of the composites was investigated. This article reports on an analytical and experimental investigation on the effects of fiber and filler reinforcement on the effective thermal conductivity (keff) of epoxy‐based composites. This research aims at enhancing the thermal insulation capability of fiber reinforced composites by adding an industrial waste, WGD (waste glass dust) as particulate filler. For this, an analytical model is proposed to estimate the keff values of particle filled polymer composites with and without fiber reinforcement. The results computed from the proposed correlations are then validated with some previously reported investigations. For an experimental validation, hemp and flax fiber reinforced epoxy based hybrid composites are fabricated with WGD as the fillers in varying weight fractions of 0 to 0.2. Effects of filler content on keff of fiber‐polymer systems are studied. Their keff are measured by a Unitherm Model 2022 instrument. It is found that the predicted and measured values are in good agreement. It is observed that the keff of the epoxy composites reduced from 0.359 to 0.297 W/m K with increase in the WGD weight fraction from 0 to 0.2. The keff of hybrid composites are also reduced by 27% and 15.53%, respectively, with 20 wt% addition of WGD. The present study aims to examine the characteristics of a composite material composed of glass/madar fibers and porcelain particles, which are reinforced with epoxy. A compression molding technique achieves the fabrication of this composite. A comprehensive characterization was conducted by employing a mixture of analytical techniques, including X-ray Diffraction (XRD), mechanical testing, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA). The composition of the composite was determined using X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, which demonstrated the successful integration of porcelain fillers. The material exhibited notable mechanical properties, rendering it appropriate for utilization in structural applications. The utilization of SEM facilitated the examination of the microstructure of the composite material, thereby providing a deeper understanding of the interactions between the fibers and the matrix. DMA results revealed the glass/madar composite contained 4.2% higher viscoelastic properties when the addition of porcelain filler, thermal stability was improved up to the maximum temperature of 357 °C. This study's primary objective is to experimentally investigate the flexural and impact performance of composites composed of hybrid basalt/E-glass fiber-reinforced epoxy infused with multiwalled carbon nano-tubes (MWCNTs) and nano-silica (SiO2) in compliance with ASTM D790 and ASTM D6110 specifications. Recently, manufacturers considered using basalt fiber-based composites for various structural applications due to their excellent mechanical properties, high stiffness, and high strength-to-weight ratio. Each composite laminate was made by hand layup techniques and filled with equal proportions of SiO2 and MWCNT nanoparticles in different weight percentages, such as 0%, 1%, 2%, and 3%. The composites were made by using a symmetric stacking sequence of B/GG/BB/GG/BD/GG/B fibers. MWCNTs and SiO2 were evenly dispersed throughout the epoxy matrix with the assistance of an ultrasonicator and magnetic stirrer. The composite containing 2% fillers has an increased flexural strength by 20% from 307 to 378 MPa and flexural modulus by 30% from 11.181 to 15.901 Gpa, as well as an increased Charpy impact resistance by 45% from 236 to 418 J/m, compared with the composite without fillers. The interfacial interactions between the epoxy matrix, particles, and fibers significantly influenced the composite laminates' flexural and impact characteristics. The accumulation of particles in the epoxy caused by the 3% fillers reduces the flexural strength and flexural modulus and impacts the performance due to the inadequate interfacial contact between the fibers and the epoxy matrix. A new series of high-temperature resistant bisphthalonitrile resins containing trifluoromethyl groups were prepared based on 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene) bisphthalonitrile (BFPh), which was toughened by hexafluoroisopropylidene-containing poly (aryl ether nitrile) oligomer capped by phthalonitrile (FPEN-Ph) in the different content. In addition, glass fiber reinforced composites were prepared by hot pressing process. The structure of the oligomer was characterized by FTIR and 1HNMR. The curing behavior of the blends was studied by DSC. Thermal stability and mechanical properties were also studied. The results showed that the introduction of appropriate content of FPEN-Ph could improve the reactivity of the curing reaction. TGA and DMA results showed that the cured polymers and composites had excellent thermal properties. The residual mass of FPEN-Ph content of 10% at 800°C was 72.4%, and the 5% thermal degradation temperature (T5%) under inert atmosphere was 530°C. The flexural strength of glass fiber reinforced composites was about 592.7 MPa, and the shear strength was about 61.6 MPa, showing excellent mechanical properties. The present scenario forces researchers to reduce raw material usage for future conservation and imposes a responsibility to reuse the waste by converting it into valuable products. With a state of potential, the components are put forward for reusing the diamond-cutting waste as effective filler particles in the polyepoxide-glass laminated hybrid composite. The polymer composites were prepared using the hand lay-up process under hydraulic loading conditions. The composites were formulated by changing the diamond filler fraction (1, 3, 5 and 10 wt%) and keeping a constant glass weight percentage of 20%. The composite's mechanical, thermal stability and erosion properties were evaluated to study the effect of diamond filler material in glass fibre composites. With the addition of 5% diamond particles, the tensile, flexural, and Shore D hardness were improved by a maximum of 48, 34 and 26%, respectively, compared to the polyepoxide glass fibre composite, due to the restraint on deformation of polymer chains. There was minor diamond particle aggregation due to fines in more than 5% of the diamond filler, reducing the rate of improvement of the mechanical behaviour. The higher thermal conductivity and increased strength offered by diamond filler improved thermal resistance and slowed down the thermal degradation of composites. The sand erosion test reveals that diamond particles boosted the erosive wear resistance of the composites by offering high mechanical strength, which could change the erosion wear mechanism. Erosion morphology determined through SEM analysis found that high-volume diamond particles reduced erodent-polymer matrix interaction at the micro level, decreasing the erosion wear of diamond-filled composites. Materials with zero thermal expansion (ZTE) properties demonstrate remarkable dimensional stability, making them crucial in aerospace, electronics, and various industrial sectors. However, these materials face challenges such as weak mechanical properties and narrow ZTE temperature range. In this study, a novel ZTE metallic glass-based composite (Cu 2 P 2 O 7 /La 65 Al 14 Cu 9.17 Ag 1.83 Ni 5 Co 5) with negative thermal expansion (NTE) reinforcement was prepared using gas pressure infiltration and water quenching. SEM and 3D CT results revealed the dense structure and the non-reactive interface structure. The NTE behaviors resulting from the coupling of CuO 5 and PO 4 polyhedra within the NTE Cu 2 P 2 O 7 are demonstrated to counterbalance the positive thermal expansion in metallic glass. Consequently, the resulting composites exhibit a wide range of zero thermal expansion and high strength properties, presenting a novel approach for creating high-performance ZTE metallic glass-based composites. The present work deals with analyzing the effect of silicon dioxide on mechanical and thermal stability of hybrid polymer composite. Compression molding is adopted to develop the hybrid composite with constant 0.5 wt.% of graphene and varying wt.% of silicon dioxide (2, 4 & 6 wt.%). Modified hummers method is used to synthesis graphene by chemical exfoliation of graphene from graphite flakes. Mechanical properties of developed composite is investigated using tensile, flexural, impact and interlaminar shear testing follow by fracture surface analysis of tested samples. Thermal stability is examined by thermogravimetric analysis and functional group confirmation is carried out using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Investigation over mechanical properties of fabricated composite reveals that addition of silicon dioxide up to 4 wt.% depicted higher flexural and tensile strength. Increment in silicon dioxide percentage improves the toughness of composite. FTIR results confirms the presence of asymmetric stretching vibrations due the after effect of hybrid fillers. An innovative approach was adopted to improve the energy storage and dielectric properties of Bi 0.5 Na 0.5 TiO 3 (BNT) ceramics by incorporating a glass additive. The chosen Na 2 O–Bi 2 O 3 –TiO 2 –P 2 O 5 (NBTP) glass shares a similar atomic composition to minimize any alteration of the crystalline structure and the build-up of impurities. Simultaneously, we investigate the feasibility of offsetting Bi and Na losses during the synthesis process. XRD and Rietveld refinement analysis confirmed the formation of pure BNT phases with no secondary phases. Dielectric parameters were evaluated in the frequency range of 1 Hz to 1 MHz, over a wide temperature range of 30 °C–270 °C, showing minimal variation in their values for the composites with lower glass content. Our findings indicate a notable reduction in grain size and the sintering temperature with improved relative density, leading to enhanced energy storage and efficiency in BNT-based ceramics. The composite with 2.5 wt% glass content shows the highest recovered energy of 154.9 mJ/cm3 with an energy efficiency of 88.64 %, making it particularly promising for advanced capacitor technology. Here we describe the synthesis of a compositional series of metal–organic framework crystalline-inorganic glass composites (MOF-CIGCs) containing ZIF-8 and an inorganic phosphate glass, 20Na2O–10NaCl–70P2O5, to expand the library of host matrices for metal–organic frameworks. By careful selection of the inorganic glass component, a relatively high loading of ZIF-8 (70 wt%) was achieved, which is the active component of the composite. A Zn⋯O–P interfacial bond, previously identified in similar composites/hybrid blends, was suggested by analysis of the total scattering pair distribution function data. This study aimed to evaluate the mechanical characteristics and application of e-waste as a filler for glass fiber composites made of S and E (e-waste + S E). Metal, printed circuit boards, integrated circuits, diodes, and transistors were separated from the e-waste filler during milling. S and E glass fiber, epoxy, and filler were utilized in proportions of 10%, 10%, and 70%, respectively, on a volume basis. The hand lay-up technique was used to construct composite specimens. Scanning electron microscope analysis was used to gauge how filler loading affected the morphology of composite materials. The composite has a compressive strength of 23.760 MPa, which is 69.71% higher than the Geo poly composite. The tensile strength of this composite is withstood up to 16.078 MPa. It has 53% better tensile properties than Sunflower Husk composites with the same operating conditions. It gives a resistance up to 42 D during hardness test to withstand. It was 15.6% better than the NF30% epoxy composite specimen. The effect of hybridization on vibration response of carbon/glass hybrid composite laminates are studied using the analytical and the numerical models. For this purpose, nine hybrid types of the four-layer hybrid composite laminates are performed in this paper. The first-order shear deformation theory and the higher-order shear deformation theory based on the energy method are utilized. The equations of motion and boundary conditions are derived from Hamilton's principle and Navier solution. Numerical examples are presented to validate the accuracy and reliability of the adopted analytical methods. A good agreement is observed between the current results and FEA ones. The influence of the stacking sequences on the positive/negative hybrid effect is studied. Moreover, the influences of stacking sequences, material properties, and geometries on the vibration response are also studied in detail. The results reveal that the natural frequencies increase with the hybrid ratios due to the increasing stiffness of the hybrid laminates. This study aims to assess the hybridization effect on the perforation threshold of Low-Velocity Impact (LVI) in thermoplastic glass composite laminates, incorporating layers of resin-impregnated stainless-steel mesh. Reinforcing methodologies such as hybridization are recently being adopted as a practical approach to increasing the energy-absorbing capacity of polymer composites. In the current paper, a multi-step hot press lamination method has been employed to fabricate the hybrid composite laminates strengthened with stainless-steel mesh layers. Several stacking sequences, metal mesh wire sizes, orientation and position relative to the impactor have been examined under various LVI energies. It was revealed that the LVI penetration energy was increased for the thermoplastic-based composite laminates reinforced with stainless-steel mesh layers. Furthermore, the LVI penetration energy threshold was significantly influenced by the metal mesh wire size, orientation and stacking sequence. Carbon fiber-reinforced polymers are widely used in space applications since they combine outstanding mechanical properties with low material density. However, the development of composite components involves raw materials that are becoming increasingly scarce and contributes significantly to carbon emissions during the manufacturing process. Indeed, the fabrication of fibers is energy-intensive and requires very high temperatures, high costs, and usually precursor materials derived from fossil fuels. In addition to the negative environmental impact due to the manufacturing process, there are critical issues related to the disposal of components fabricated using carbon/glass fiber composites. Therefore, the use of efficient recycling strategies becomes necessary, according to economic reasons and legislation. The recycled fibers exhibit different properties from virgin fibers, generally lower, due to adverse effects of the current recycling methods. In this study, we investigated the potential application of recovered carbon fibers in satellite platforms, using recycled fibers from our laboratory obtained with a subcritical solvolysis method that we have previously developed. Composite materials reinforced with recycled and virgin carbon fibers were exposed to UV-C, and the effects of irradiation were analyzed in terms of structural performance, surface morphology, and chemical modifications of the samples. To expand the applications of hybrid fiber composites in structural engineering applications, it is essential to study their fatigue behavior. The tensile and fatigue performance of unidirectional hybrid basalt/glass epoxy composites made with vacuum‐assisted resin infusion molding are investigated in this research. The sequencing influence on tensile properties was assessed using the two configurations of basalt/glass fiber epoxy hybrid fiber composites, namely GBBBG and BGBGB, having nearly equal volume fractions. According to the test results, hybrid fiber composites showed a positive hybrid effect on their tensile strength. Both hybrid layups showed higher tensile strengths (3.5% to 10.5%) than GFRPs and BFRPs. The GBBBG laminate has slightly higher fatigue resistance than BGBGB laminate under tension–tension (T–T) fatigue. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images verify the fatigue failure modes, which include fiber, matrix cracking, delamination, and debonding. The DMA analysis showed the lower adhesion efficiency of hybrid fiber composites, signifying lower damping properties.
