Contact and repellent toxicities of essential oil from Cnidium monnieri (L.) Cuss. (Apiales: Apiaceae) fruit on adults of Lasioderma serricorne (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Anobiidae), and its ability to protect stored tobacco leaves from adult L. serricorne infestation were investigated. Essential oil from C. monnieri fruit had potent contact and repellent toxicities against adults of L. serricorne, and the contact and repellent activity increased significantly with increasing exposure time and dose. The greatest corrected mortality of contact toxicity bioassays killed 85.1% at 0.24 µl/cm2 at 72 hours of exposure. The greatest mean percentage repellency in repellent toxicity bioassays killed 93.5% of class V at 0.16 µl/cm2 at 48 hours of exposure. Essential oil of C. monnieri fruit substantially protected packaged flue-cured tobacco leaves from adult L. serricorne infestation. The number of L. serricorne was zero in flue-cured tobacco leaves packaged in kraft paper bags coated with essential oil of C. monnieri fruit at 0.04 µl/cm2 at 45 days. The results suggest that essential oil of C. monnieri fruit is a promising alternative to commonly used insecticides to control L. serricorne. Poly (lactic acid) (PLA) and Poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) are two of biodegradable plastics with the highest production capacities in 2021. Bioplastic waste management can be easily integrated with organic waste management, especially when bioplastics are used as food packaging material, since they are potentially biodegradable. The aim of this study was to assess the biodegradability of biodegradable polymer-coated paper (BPCP) and bioplastic bags made from PBAT/PLA blend during mesophilic and thermophilic anaerobic digestion (AD) and to reveal the changes in the physicochemical properties of the bioplastics. BPCP obtained 155 NmL-CH 4 /g VS and 307.3 NmL-CH 4 /g VS under mesophilic and thermophilic conditions, respectively, but left bioplastic film residues. The bioplastic bags did not exhibit significant biodegradation during the AD processes. 1H NMR results indicated that the ratio of PLA to PBAT decreased significantly after AD of the BPCP film and that PLA monomers were formed from the bioplastic bags, leading to a decrease in the hydrophobicity on the surfaces of the materials. Methanoculleus was found to be enriched on the bioplastic surface after mesophilic AD. From the perspective of coupling bioplastic waste management with the food waste management, the incorporation of BPCP into the AD reactor not only enhances system stability and methane production to a greater extent than biodegradable plastic bags but also raises concerns regarding the residual biofilm when utilizing the digestate for direct land applications. Capacitated lot sizing is a frequently encountered production-planning problem in manufacturing companies. However, many real life factors are usually not taken into account during the model development phase for these problems. In this study, an integrated lot-sizing and scheduling problem of a paper bag production firm is considered. A mixed integer mathematical programming model is proposed for modeling and solving the problem. Setup cost/time between product and period changes are considered in the proposed model. It is aimed to minimize the total cost of production, holding inventory, backorder, procurement and setup for product type change and product period change. It is observed that productive utilization of manufacturing resources and the generation of more effective production plans are possible by the application of the proposed model. Canavalia ensiformis is a Fabaceae used for soil conservation and control of weeds. The objective of this study was to identify gall wasps of C. ensiformis at Guerrero, Mexico. A survey was done in June 2022 in a crop of C. ensiformis planted to provide cover for Zea mays L. plots at Anahuac, San Marcos, Guerrero, México. Abnormal galls were found on several organs of the plants, especially the branches. Three branches from 10 plants were gathered, put into paper bags, labelled, and transported in polystyrene containers to Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias (INIFAP) for rearing wasps. Adults were identified based on morphological characteristics. C. ensiformis was reported for the first time as an alternate host of wasps of the genus Eurytoma. The study presented investigates the understanding of feminist literature by preschool children in a Spanish school. To carry out the research, semi-structured interviews with 65 students were performed, in order to discuss the story, The Paper Bag Princess. The data analysis was conducted under a poststructuralist lens, using the cultural matrix of gender as a tool for analysis. This document collects the results obtained from the following categories of analysis: emphasis on female beauty, discourse of romantic love, comparison with traditional stories (category maintenance work) and alternative discourses of femininity. The findings of the study indicate that boys and girls use two different strategies when coming in contact with feminist tales: comparing the feminist story to the, hitherto, considered 'correct' or natural order and correcting every element that challenged the structures of the cultural matrix. Fruit bagging protects fruits from pest infestation and multiple biotic and abiotic stresses during development without reducing yield. It also can potentially improve the quality and market value of fruits. Hence, the present study aimed to determine the effect of pre-harvest fruit bagging on the yield and quality of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) cv. BARI Tomato-2. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications that constituted the various treatments-T0: Control (no bagging), T1: White paper bag (single layer), T2: Brown paper bag (double layer), T3: Non-woven fabric bag, and T4: Jute bag from October 2021 to March 2022. The results showed that the non-woven fabric bag had the highest fruit length (57.79 mm), diameter (57.81 mm), number of fruits plant-1 (55.9), yield (4.06 kg plant-1), vitamin C (24.63mg/ 100g-1), and lycopene content (0.12 mg g-1). The maximum insect incidence (18.41%) was recorded in control and the minimum was counted in T3 (2.17%). The highest total soluble solid (6.73%0Brix) and dry matter (8.63%) were observed in a white paper bag. The highest mean color score (6.08), firmness (26.81%), and shelf life (13 days) found in fabric bags outperformed non-bagged fruits. The fabric bag showed maximum net income (21.12 TK) and the highest benefit: cost ratio (2.36). Paper and plastic bags have been mainly used in fruit bagging of pineapple production. However, they are often discarded as agricultural wastes after harvest of pineapple fruit and threaten environment. In this study, effects of white non-woven fabric bag, expandable polyethylene bag, black plastic bag and kraft paper bag on fruit quality of pineapple cv. 'MD-2' were investigated. Results showed that fruits with fruit bagging showed no sunburn. When expandable polyethylene bag was used, fruits of pineapple cv. 'MD-2' showed better external qualities, nutrition qualities and texture properties. Crop raiding has been reported in many parts of Punjab as a result of an overabundance of nilgai antelopes (Boselaphus tragocamelus) and farmers are constantly battling to save their crops. In the present study, various management strategies such as physical deterrents (nylon rope, nylon net and garden net), visual repellents (scarecrow and reflective ribbon), chemical repellents (different concentrations of Neelbo and Ecodon (based on ricinoleic acid) applied by spraying, soaking jute rope, soaked in wood shavings packed in plastic bags and paper cups) and biological deterrents (bioacoustic device and different concentrations of faecal solution of horse, tiger and Himalayan black bear) were evaluated to minimize the damage caused by nilgai. Nylon net was the most promising method, providing complete protection against nilgai, which can be used for protecting crops at vulnerable stages with a one-time cost. The nylon rope and garden net provided partial protection from nilgai damage. The bioacoustic device and reflective ribbon were also effective for a short period of time. Neelbo was found more effective as chemical repellent against nilgai. The faecal solution of horse and Himalayan black bear remained effective as repellent for 10 days. It is thus concluded that while comprehensive damage prevention may be difficult, animal management devices can help reduce nilgai damage at vulnerable stages of the crop. This study seeks to profile the shoppers' propensity to reuse shopping bags and the type of shopping bags they reuse on the basis of demographics. The study used an observation method to record the consumers' shopping habits and a short questionnaire to record the participants' demographics. A binary regression analysis and a multinomial regression analysis were used to analyse data. The results indicated that the mature aged, women, and low income shoppers were more likely to practice reuse of plastic shopping bags than their respective counterparts. There were no statistically significant differences in the likelihood of young aged shoppers compared to mature aged shoppers and low income shoppers compared to high income shoppers using cotton bags than plastic bags. There were also no statistically significant differences in the likelihood of young aged shoppers compared to mature aged shoppers and male shoppers compared to female shoppers using paper bags than plastic bags. However, the results indicated a statically significant result in how males compared to females differed in their using of cotton bags than plastic bags and a statistically significant result in how low income shoppers compared to high income shoppers differed in their use of paper bags than plastic bags. Natural infection by Colletotrichum spp. and the subsequent development ripe rot were observed in susceptible grape C Vitis vingem) clusters either protected or exposed to environmental conditions and naturally occurring inoculum by the application or removal of paper bags at various phenological stages at two Mid-Atlantic vineyards. During each of the three experimental seasons, most treatments with grape clusters that were exposed develbetween veraison and harvest developed significantly more severe ripe rot clusthan clusters that were exposed during only the early season or protected throughout the entire season. Spore traps were placed in one vineyard over two seasons and were analyzed via quantitative PCR. DNA of the Colleto trichum acutamm and C gloeosporioides species complexes was detected om the bloom to the hal-vest stage, with a higher quantity of C actitatum DNA than C gloeosporioides DNA. From ripe rot symptomatic clusters, 417 isolates were collected, and a multilocus phylogenetic analysis of 51 representative isolates identified six Colletotrichum spp.. with C.tioriniae (C. (lcutatum complex) being the most frequently isolated. Weather data were also monitored, and ripe rot-conducive conditions were observed at multiple times throughout each season. In summary, only clusters that were exposed to inoculum and environmental conditions in the late season develbetween oped severe ripe rot. Introduction: Literature is lacking on the safety of storing contaminated PPE in paper bags for reuse, potentially increasing exposure to frontline healthcare workers (HCW) and patients. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of paper bags as a barrier for fomite transmission of SARS-CoV-2 by storing face masks, respirators, and face shields. Methods: This quasi-experimental study evaluated the presence of SARS-CoV-2 on the interior and exterior surfaces of paper bags containing PPE that had aerosolized exposures in clinical and simulated settings. Between May and October 2020, 30 unique PPE items were collected from COVID-19 units at two urban hospitals. Exposed PPE, worn by either an infected patient or HCW during a SARS-CoV-2 aerosolizing event, were placed into an unused paper bag. Samples were tested at 30-minute and 12-hour intervals. Results: A total of 177 swabs were processed from 30 PPE samples. We found a 6.8% positivity rate among all samples across both collection sites. Highest positivity rates were associated with ventilator disconnection and exposure to respiratory droplets from coughing. Positivity rates differed between hospital units. Total positivity rates were similar between 30-minute (6.7%) and 12-hour (6.9%) sample testing time intervals. Control samples exposed to inactivated SARS-CoV-2 droplets had higher total viral counts than samples exposed to nebulized aerosols. Conclusions: Data suggests paper bags are not a significant fomite risk for SARS-CoV-2 transmission. However, controls demonstrated a risk with droplet exposure. Jambu (Acmella oleracea [(L.) RK Jansen]) is a vegetable of great importance in the Amazonian region; it can be found in the daily life of the citizens of the State of Pará (Brazil), since it is part of traditional dishes such as duck in tucupi and tacacá sauce. Although jambu is widely cultivated, agronomic information about its management remains scarce. The aim of the current study was to analyze the physiological potential of jambu seeds stored in different packages and environments. The investigated packages comprised glass, Eppendorf tubes, plastic bags and paper bags conditioned in refrigerator and under natural conditions in Castanhal, Pará, for 360 days. Seed germination, first germination count, emergence seedlings, germination and emergence speed index, and seedling dry weight and length were the variables evaluated at 40-day intervals. The experimental design was completely randomized, with four replicates of 50 seeds per treatment. Jambu seeds were only influenced by the environment where they were stored; the ones stored under natural conditions recorded decreasing behavior for the investigated variables until they reached zero, after 280 storage days. The concern over plastic contamination has led to bans on plastic shopping bags, often replaced by paper ones. However, logos painted or printed on paper bags may still contain plastics, as investigated herein. In some logos, for example, white pigment of titanium dioxide (TiO 2) nanoparticles are bound with plastic binder onto the cellulose surface of the paper. This hybrid of plastic and nanoparticle is examined using scanning electron microscope (SEM) to characterise morphology physically, and Raman imaging to identify and visualise them chemically. Raman imaging scans the sample to separate images and identify not only plastic but also the co-formulated pigment. The scan generates a hyperspectral matrix containing hundreds to thousands of spectra, and subsequent analysis can enhance the signal-to-noise ratio. Decoding the hyperspectral matrix using chemometrics like principal component analysis (PCA) can effectively map plastic and pigment separately with increased certainty. The image can be further refined through 3-dimensional surface fitting for deconvolution, providing direct visualisation of the plastic-nanoparticle hybrid at a density of approximately 7.3 million particles per square millimetre. Overall, caution should be exercised when using paper bags, as they may not be entirely free of plastics. Raman imaging proves to be an effective method for identifying and visualising complex components, including plastics and nanoparticles. Studies were carried out to develop eco-friendly Packaging material for the extended shelf-life of food products. The current study sought to improve the coated bioactive film's hydrophobicity and antimicrobial properties by preparing active packaging based on biodegradable Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) containing 1 wt% Nanocellulose (NC) and various loadings of essential oil-prepared nanocomposites. Nanocellulose (NC) from Maize Cob was used as filler in the synthesis of nanopolymers enriched with Thyme oil, Cinnamon oil, clove oil, and Rosemary oil. Characterization of nanopolymer-coated bags and their effect on enhancing the shelf-life of food products in different temperature conditions was also studied. The fabricated nanocomposite and nanocellulose were characterized using FTIR, SEM, XRD, Contact angle, TGA, and Tensile mechanical properties. The fabricated nanocomposite-coated paper cum bag shows good hydrophobic properties as well as antimicrobial and insecticidal properties. The results showed that adding essential oils and dispersing nanocellulose to the PLA matrix strengthened its mechanical qualities as well as its efficacy for biodegradation and antimicrobial properties. The current work provides extremely promising materials for future applications in food packaging applications using sustainable nanocomposite-based biodegradable and antimicrobial coated paper cum bags. Several countries have imposed either a ban or a tax on single-use plastic packaging, motivated by their contribution to marine plastic pollution. This may lead consumers to opt for similar unregulated substitutes, potentially undermining or even counteracting the intended effect of the policy instrument. The purpose of this study is to theoretically and empirically compare the environmental and welfare effects of the first-best Pigouvian taxes on both plastic bags and a substitute (paper bags), with two alternative second-best policy instruments: a tax on plastic products alone, and a common uniform tax on all packaging materials. The empirical analysis accounts for two different types of environmental externalities from the use of both bag types: marine pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. It also compares results for two countries, Denmark and the USA, which differ in the demand for plastic and paper bags. The theoretical analysis shows that a unilateral tax on plastic bags should equal the marginal environmental damage of plastic bags minus a fraction of the marginal environmental cost of paper bags, hence being lower than the Pigouvian tax. The optimal common tax should equal a weighted average of the marginal environmental damage of the two bag types and would be lower than the Pigouvian tax on plastics if the marginal external cost of plastic bags exceeds that for paper bags. The empirical analysis shows that for default parameters, the variation in tax level across the studied scenarios is small. It also shows that if Pigouvian taxes cannot be implemented, a common uniform tax on both bag types would result in a higher welfare gain than a tax on plastic bags alone. Sensitivity analysis reveals that the level of the second-best taxes and their associated environmental and welfare impacts are sensitive to assumptions regarding the littering rate and decay rate of plastic bags in the marine environment. • A separate tax on plastic bags leads to substitution towards unregulated products. • Both plastic bags and substitutes cause marine pollution and GHG emissions. • We estimate first and second-best environmental taxes on plastic and paper bags. • Pigouvian taxes on both plastic and paper bags yield the highest welfare effect. • A uniform tax on all bags yields higher welfare than a single tax on plastic bags. In Kenya, the mango (Mangifera indica L) cultivar 'Apple' is commercially important but it often suffers excessive russeting, which both compromises its appearance and impairs its postharvest performance. Together, these effects seriously reduce its market potential. Exposure to surface moisture is implicated in russeting of cv. 'Apple' mango. The objective was to establish the effect of bagging on russeting. Developing fruit were bagged at the onset of the exponential growth phase, using brown paper bags (Blue star®). Un-bagged fruit served as controls. The brown paper bags were selected because of their high permeance to water vapor. At harvest maturity, bagged fruit were larger, less russeted and had smaller lenticels than un-bagged control fruit. Staining with aqueous acridine orange in conjunction with fluorescence microscopy revealed numerous microcracks and larger lenticels on un-bagged control fruit but these were not evident on bagged fruit. Postharvest mass loss (principally water loss) of bagged fruit was lower than of un-bagged control fruit. In the un-bagged control fruit, the skin's water permeance increased as the russeted surface area increased (r2 = 0.88 **). Fruit skins were less permeable to water vapor than the brown paper bags. The brown paper bags contributed not more than 4.2 to 9.1% of the total in-series diffusion resistance of skin + bag. The masses of isolated cuticular membranes, and of dewaxed cuticular membranes, and of wax per unit surface area were higher for un-bagged control fruit than for bagged fruit. Bagged fruit were also greener and showed less blush. There was little difference in skin carotenoid content between bagged and un-bagged control fruit, but skin anthocyanin content was lower in bagged fruit. The rates of respiration and ethylene evolution of bagged fruit were lower than those of un-bagged control fruit. There were no differences between bagged and un-bagged control fruit in their organoleptic and nutritional properties including titratable acidity, total soluble sugars, sucrose, glucose, fructose, vitamin C and calcium content. In conclusion, bagging decreased russeting and increased postharvest performance of fruit of mango cv. Research was carried out on the germination of seeds obtained from crossings between the cultivars of red raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) 'Sokolica', 'Willamette', 'Veten', 'Canby' and 'Glen Ample' depending on the age of the seeds. The crossings were performed in the winter–spring of 2015–2018 in a heated greenhouse. The obtained seeds were stored dry in paper bags at a temperature of 4–5 °C. In January 2019, seeds were scarified and then cold stratified for 50 days and seeded in pots in a greenhouse. The seedling emergence was assessed 60 days after sowing. The seeds produced in 2015 had the lowest germination percentage (14% on average for all combinations of crosses), while the seeds produced in 2018 had a germination rate of 44.9%. Significant differences were also observed in the emergence of seedlings from different combinations. Pineapples are an important agricultural economic crop in Taiwan. Considerable human resources are required to protect pineapples from excessive solar radiation, which could otherwise lead to overheating and subsequent deterioration. Note that simple covering all of the fruit with a paper bag is not a viable solution, due to the fact that it makes it impossible to determine whether the fruit is ripe. This paper proposes a system by which to automate the detection of ripe pineapples. The proposed deep learning architecture enables detection regardless of lighting conditions, achieving accuracy of more than 99.27% with error of less than 2% at distances of 300 ~ 800 mm. The experiment was to study the stability of feed additive lysozyme dimer in influencing factors and accelerated test, determined the validity period of the product through long-term test. Three batches of lysozyme dimer samples were taken for influencing factor test (high temperature test, high humidity test and light test), accelerated test and long-term test, the moisture, dimer content and enzyme activity of lysozyme dimer were detected as inspection indicators. The results showed that the lysozyme dimer was relatively stable in the influence factor test, accelerated test and long-term test. The validity period of the product was preliminarily determined to be 12 months after the validity period prediction analysis. The experiment indicates that lysozyme dimer is relatively stable. Aims: This study aimed to identify the risks of using three brands of the most Egyptian consumers' preferred black tea. Epichlorohydrin (ECH), its metabolite3-monochloropropane-1,2 dial (3-MCPD), and some, were analyzed in the infusions. Methods: Tea infusion was prepared by adding 100 ml of boiling deionized water in fine bone china cups to one bag of the three studied brands, and steeped for 2, 6, and 10 minutes. The effect of adding table sugar (3 or 6 g per cup), as well as the effect of rinsing the bag prior to preparing the teadrink on ECH and 3-MCPD content were estimated. ECH and 3-MCPD were determined using HPGC, while the heavy metals were detected by ICP-MS. The data were statistically analyzed. Results: The results revealed that, the levels of ECH in all of the teabag infusions of tested brands after the three studied steeping times ranged between 1.68 to 11.40 μg/L. Adding sugar decreased the concentration of ECH in the infusions by 13-20%. Because ECH is easily dissolved in water at room temperature, rinsing the teabag perior preparing the drink removed more than 93% of its ECH content, also empting the tea particles from the bag significantly reduced the ECH concentration in the infusion. Assuming an adult person consumes one litter of tea drink a day, therefore its ECH intake is in the safe levels according to the WHO (2017) when the steeping time 2 min for all studied brands. We recommended to rinse the tea bags or empting the tea particles from the bag before preparing the infusions. The 3-MCPD was not detected in tea infusions of brand A, while of brand C contained the highest levels of 3-MCPD and these levels increased by increasing steeping time. Opuntia ficus-indica (L.) Mill.), is called "beles" in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, where it is used for multiple purposes, such as food, fodder, and fences; however, in recent years the introduction of the cochineal (Dactylopius coccus Costa) to this region has caused it to become a plague that has affected thousands of hectares, causing an economic and social problem. Six cultivars: three from Opuntia ficus-indica ('Atlixco', 'Chicomostoc', and 'Rojo Pelón') and three others O. cochenillifera ('Nopalea' and 'Bioplástico') and O. robusta ('Robusta') were tested for resistance to D. coccus in completely randomized design (CRD) experiment with six replications under greenhouse conditions, for two seasons (cycles). Matured cladodes were infested by attaching a paper bag with ten ovipositing female D. coccus. The number of insects at different stages and yields were recorded, log transformed (insect count data), and subjected to statistical analysis. The number of nymphs (stages I and II) was significantly different in both cycles (P=0.0000). The insects died at the nymph I stage at 'Rojo Pelón' and 'Robusta', in contrast, they completed their life cycle at 'Atlixco', 'Chicomostoc', and 'Nopalea' cultivars. Insects at 'Bioplástico' cultivar remained in the nymph I stage the whole experimental period; the molting was hampered. Although some crawlers started settling (nymph I) at 'Rojo Pelón', they couldn't survive and developed, and this confirms that this O. ficus-indica cultivar is resistant to D. coccus. Entomophagy as an alternative way of eating in the Czech Republic is gaining more and more supporters. For this reason, we have focused on the microbial quality of the insect dry powder made from Tenebrio molitor during storage. In the samples were determined the major groups of microorganisms by standard procedures. It is the total number of microorganisms, aerobic microorganisms thermoresistant, E. coli and other coliform bacteria, micromycetes and bacteria of the genus Enterococcus. The highest increase of total microorganisms occurred after five months storage in the sample stored in a paper bag and cold, where their number reached a value of 2.870 log CFU/g. For the same sample, coliform bacteria at the rate of 1.839 log CFU/g were also detected. The other monitored groups of microorganisms were in the samples at most in the order of tens of CFU/g. BACKGROUND: Maize varieties that are rich in carotenoids have been developed to combat vitamin A deficiency in Sub‐Saharan Africa. Unfortunately, after harvest, carotenoids degrade and off‐flavor volatiles develop, which affect nutrient intake and consumer acceptance. This study evaluated carotenoid retention and aroma compound stability in provitamin A biofortified maize, variety Pool 8A, as influenced by dry milling and storage in different packaging and temperature conditions. RESULTS: The lowest amount of total carotenoids was found in flour stored in laminated paper bags at 37 °C (only 16% retention after 180 days), attributable to the high storage temperature and oxygen permeability of the packaging material. No significant effect on carotenoid degradation was found for dry milling, either by rotor mill or freezer mill, but the formation of volatile compounds was significantly (P < 0.05) affected. Volatile compounds such as hexanal, 2‐pentylfuran, 1‐propanol, 2‐heptanone, butyrolactone, limonene, and hexanoic acid were found in different proportions after milling. The highest concentration of hexanal was in flour milled by rotor mill or freezer mill, and stored in laminated paper bags at 37 °C after 180 days, and the lowest concentrations were for flour in aluminium bags and double‐layered polyethylene bags stored at 4 °C. CONCLUSION: Maize flour stored in double‐layered polyethylene bags had the highest carotenoid retention and aroma stability. Importantly, the use of these bags is economically feasible in low‐income countries. Objective: To assess differences between traditional paper bag ordering and online ordering from primary school canteens in terms of menu, usage and lunch order characteristics.Design: A cross-sectional study.Setting: New South Wales (NSW) primary schools that offered both paper bag and online canteen ordering.Participants: Students (aged 5-12 years) with a lunch order on the day of the observation.Results: Across the six school canteens, 59-90 % of all available items were listed on both the online and paper menus, with no significant differences in the nutritional quality ('Everyday'/'Occasional') or nutritional content (kJ/saturated fat/sugar/sodium) of menu items. In total, 387 student lunch orders were placed, containing 776 menu items. Most orders (68 %) were placed online. There were no significant differences between order modality in the quantity of items ordered or the cost of orders, or the nutritional quality of orders based on the classification system of the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy ('Everyday'/'Occasional'). However, nutritional analysis revealed that paper bag orders contained 222 fewer kJ than online orders (P = 0·001), 0·65 g less saturated fat (P = 0·04) and 4·7 g less sugar (P < 0·001).Conclusions: Online canteens are commonly used to order canteen lunches for primary school children. This is the first study to investigate differences between traditional paper bag ordering and online ordering in this setting. Given the rapid increase in the use of online ordering systems in schools and other food settings and their potential to deliver public health nutrition interventions, additional research is warranted to further investigate differences in ordering modalities. Knowing the physiological potential of seeds under certain conditions and storage periods is essential to ensure their availability with adequate quality, as well as information on more productive genotypes. Thus, this work was carried out to analyze the quality of seeds of different cowpea genotypes stored in bags of multifolium paper in a cold chamber during a period of 48 months and subsequently to evaluate the yield potential in the field. For this, two studies were conducted, both at the Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia (UESB), campus of Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, Brazil. The first stage was carried out in the laboratory with seed quality evaluation and the second stage was carried out in the field with evaluation of phytotechnical parameters of the genotypes of plants originated from seeds stored. The treatments consisted of eight genotypes of cowpea, of which five were cultivars (BRS Guariba, BRS Novaera, BRS Tumucumaque, BRS Itaim, BRS Cauamé) and three lines (MNC04-769F-49, MNC04-769F-62, MNC04-795F-159). The main conclusions of both experiments were that the seeds conserved in a cold chamber for 48 months did not suffer depreciation in quality, vigor and germination capacity, as well as the plants originated from these seeds also showed satisfactory yield, especially the line MNC04-769F-62. Current study was conducted at Citrus Research Institute, Sargodha, Pakistan during 2020 to determine the effectiveness of different fruit bagging materials to reduce the fruit fly infestation and also to check their impact on skin color of developing fruits and also upon the fruit quality in citrus variety "kinnow mandarin". The fruits were covered with four types of bagging materials such as perforated polyethylene, butter paper, muslin cloth bag and brown paper. No fruit fly infestation was observed in fruits covered with different types of bags as compared with unwrapped fruits. However, 12.43% fruit fly infestation was recorded in non wrapped bags. Fruits covered with brown paper bags and butter paper bags did not show any blemish problem and were also free from citrus canker. Bagging with perforated polyethylene, brown paper and butter paper materials also resulted in improving the fruit colour. None of the bagging material resulted in increase in fruit size (length x width) and fruit weight in citrus fruits. Statistically, the highest amount of juice weight (54.22 g) was detected in fruits enveloped in brown papers followed by butter paper bag (53.31 g), perforated polyethylene bags (50.89 g), muslin cloth bag (48.43 g) and non-bagged (47.43 g) fruits. The highest amount of TSS was found in fruits wrapped in brown paper bags (11.67%) followed by muslin cloth bag (11.41%) and were statistically at par with each other but significantly different with perforated polyethylene bags (11.11%), butter paper bags (10.35%) and un-wrapped fruits (10.60%). Lowest (0.87%) and highest (1.02%) acidity was observed in fruits wrapped with brown paper and muslin cloth bags, respectively was observed. In recent years, numerous studies have analyzed the role of bioactive glass (BAG) as remineralizing additives in dental restorative composites. This current review provides a critical analysis of the existing literature, particularly focusing on BAGs prepared via the melt-quench route that form an "apatite-like" phase when immersed in physiological-like solutions. Online databases (Science Direct, PubMed and Google Scholar) were used to collect data published from 1962 to 2020. The research papers were analyzed and the relevant papers were selected for this review. Sol–gel BAGs were not included in this review since it is not a cost-effective manufacturing technique that can be upscaled and is difficult to incorporate fluoride. BAGs release Ca2+, PO 4 3− and F− ions, raise the pH and form apatite. There are numerous published papers on the bioactivity of BAGs, but the different glass compositions, volume fractions, particle sizes, immersion media, time points, and the characterization techniques used, make comparison difficult. Several papers only use certain characterization techniques that do not provide a full picture of the behavior of the glass. It was noted that in most studies, mechanical properties were measured on dry samples, which does not replicate the conditions in the oral environment. Therefore, it is recommended that samples should be immersed for longer time periods in physiological solutions to mimic clinical environments. The worldwide demand for unconventional fruits, such as pomegranate (Punica granatum L.), has grown due to their nutraceutical characteristics. Given the social and industrial importance of the crop, information about the seed storage conditions should be elucidated to technicalize its cultivation. The objective of this work was to evaluate, by determining the water content, the behavior of pomegranate seeds when stored in different periods and packages. The seeds were separated into two lots: seeds with sarcotesta and without sarcotesta. The storage periods used were: 30, 60, 90, and 120 days, in 3 types of packaging (polyethylene, paper bags, and glass bottles), stored in BOD at 5 ± 1°C, and relative humidity 35 ± 2%. After storage periods, the seed water content was evaluated. Throughout the storage periods, the polyethylene and glass packages maintained the water content of the pomegranate seeds with and without sarcotesta. Fruit bagging is an acceptable cultural practice for organic production that provides a physical barrier to protect fruit. It can reduce pest and pathogen injury for a variety of fruit crops, but quality attributes have been inconsistent for peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch] and other bagged fruit. A 2-year experiment on a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) organiccertified peach orchard in central Florida was conducted to analyze the effects of a commercially available paper bag designed for fruit protection and cardinal quadrant (north, south, east, and west sides) of the tree canopy on low-chill peach 'TropicBeauty' fruit quality. Protective bags appeared to delay fruit maturity. Flesh firmness and chlorophyll concentration of bagged fruit were 31% and 27% greater than unbagged fruit, respectively. Bagged fruit were protected as demonstrated with a reduction in mechanical injury by 95%, fruit fly injury by 450%, and scablike lesions by 810%. Bagging reduced fruit brown rot (Monilinia fructicola) at harvest and 7 days after harvest; unbagged fruit were 2 and 3.5 times more likely to have rot at harvest and 7 days after harvest, respectively. Fruit bags did not affect yield, fruit size, total soluble solids, titratable acidity, pH, peel lightness, peel hue angle, or flesh color. Overall, canopy cardinal quadrant location had minimal effect on fruit quality or fruit injury. These results demonstrate that bagging peach fruit protects against various pests and diseases but has minimal effects on fruit quality. Broad adoption of this technology is highly dependent on available labor, market demands, and profitability but may be suitable for producers using direct-to-consumer market channels. This study was conducted to examine consumers' response, changes in their shopping behaviour and the effectiveness of the 'No Free Plastic Bag' campaign after almost a decade consumers were charged RM0.20 for using plastic bags. Data was collected from 122 respondents who answered an online questionnaire. The findings indicated that bringing your own shopping bag is not yet the culture in Malaysia despite that majority of consumers were aware of the campaign. Behavioural change is low as 62.3% of respondents routinely forget to bring their own shopping bags. More than half of the respondents (57.3%) are still willing to pay RM0.20 for a plastic bag. The findings of this research also revealed that consumers are too depending on retailers' green initiatives such as providing them with paper bags and boxes. Through this study, mass media plays a crucial role in disseminating information and creating environmental awareness among consumers. This paper essays the fabrication and experimental validation of hybrid bio composite with coir and cotton fiber reinforcement dispersed in paper matrix. Specimen with varying concentration of coir and different fiber length was validated against 150 GSM standard packaging paper material. The specimen constituted by 20 wt% coir was observed to have better tensile strength of 2.678 N/mm2, Izod higher impact value of 0.15 J compared to the standard sample which had tensile strength of 1.875 N/mm2 and lower Izod impact value of 0.10 J. Increasing coir content led to 142.4% higher water absorption and was not appreciable for making carry bags. The study evaluated the potential of four packaging materials (woven polypropylene bag, paper bag, Perdue Improved Crops Storage (PICS) bag, and polypropylene bag + low-density polyethylene bag) in preserving physicochemical, microbial, and sensory quality of teff flour over six months of storage at room temperature (14.8−26.80 °C). Results showed that hermetic packaging materials, specifically Purdue Improved Crop Storage (PICS) and Polypropylene bag + low-density Polyethylene (PP + LDPE), were the most effective in maintaining flour quality compared to non-hermetic options such as woven polypropylene bag (PP) and paper bag. As storage duration increased, there was a gradual decline in physicochemical quality, even if to varying degrees depending on the packaging material.Hermetic packaging materials (PICS and polypropylene bag + Low-density polyethylene bag) were the most effective in maintaining the quality of teff flour over time, resulting in minimal nutritional loss (0.12%–3.46%), reduced microbial growth, and preserved functional and sensory properties. On the contrary, non-hermetic packaging materials (woven polypropylene and paper bags) resulted in a higher nutritional loss (2.02%–4.62%) and significantly affected teff flour's functional and sensory properties. The most important chemicals common in Moringa oleifera Lam. leaves are polyphenols and tannins. They are synthesised during development and the amount and composition are primarily dependent on environmental conditions and factors such as leaf harvesting. Trials were conducted in the Gauteng Province at the University of Pretoria Experimental Farm on Hillcrest Campus (250 45′ 08.6″S, 280 15′ 30.S" E), with an altitude of 1372 m above sea level and an average annual rainfall of 640 mm. Five year old M. oleifera tree orchard were used for this study and treatments were laid in a randomised complete block design, where 12 plants were used in each plot within a row, with a plant spacing of 2 × 2 m2. Partial harvesting was done at 25% leaf removal, while severe leaf harvesting was done at 75% leaf removal. The control trees were not harvested, but only leaf (mature and immature) samples were harvested for analyses. Leaf samples from all plots were harvested in September, November, February and May in years 1 and 2. Leaf samples (equal quantities of immature and mature leaves) from partially, severely harvested and control plots were harvested and separated into batches, one to be analysed as fresh material and the other as dry material. The dry material was placed in paper bags and allowed to immediately air dry under normal room conditions of 26 °C. Partially harvested M. oleifera leaves produced an increased accumulation of total phenolic content (TPC) 35–44 g/kg dry weight, from spring to summer season, in comparison to severe harvesting 26–35 g/kg dry weight. With severe leaf harvesting (75%), because of probable lower photosynthetic capacity, phenols across September to May of years 1 and 2 decreased. The onset of low temperatures in May resulted mostly higher TPC and tannin build up, which means that cold stress may improve more bio-active compounds in the leaves. Dark and fully developed mature leaves mainly contained the highest amount of TPC. Moringa oleifera leaves collected and dried at each harvesting interval, instead of freshly milled, do show the same quantity of TPC and tannins across the season illustrating that air drying can be used as a post-harvest handling technique, extending shelf life without losses of vital phenols. There have been increased interest to propagate Moringa oleifera because of its multipurpose uses. However there are still no appropriate guidelines for long-term storage of Moringa seed because diverse results are reported in literature. Although progress has been made to understand the causes of seed deterioration, few studies have been made on natural long-term aging of seed. This study aimed to determine and compare the level of polyphenols, flavonoids, MDA and antioxidant capacity in Moringa seed stored in paper and aluminum bags at − 19°, 4°, 20° and 30 °C for 24 months as well as to investigated the relationship between these secondary compounds and Moringa seed viability. Seeds were evaluated in regular intervals of 6 months. There was minor difference between viability percentage of seed stored below 20 °C. Significant decline in viability was recorded in seed stored for 24 months in aluminum bags at 30 °C as a result of high moisture content (8%) and high temperature at which seed were exposed; While Seed stored at 30 °C in paper bags had low moisture content (5%) and retain a high viability percentage. Storage duration was the main factor affecting the changes on polyphenols and antioxidant activity levels. Although storage duration played a major role on the change in flavonoid and MDA content, the influence of storage temperature and the seed moisture content was also evident on some treatments. The change in investigated secondary compounds in seed did not always reflect on its viability percentage, but two relationships emerge from this study: The lowest moisture content, slow increase in MDA content, the lowest flavonoids content and the highest germination % in seed stored in paper bags at 20 and 30 °C at 24 months; and the highest MDA content, highest increase in flavonoids and lowest viability percentage observed in seed stored in aluminum bags at 30 °C for 24 months.
