The recent discovery of the potential of jet quenching observables to constrain the initial stages after a heavy-ion collision makes imperative to have a better understanding of the process of medium-induced radiation before the formation of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) and its impact on observables at high-$p_T$. In this work, we generalize the BDMPS-Z framework for medium-induced radiation to account for additional emissions occurring before the creation of the QGP. For simplicity, we assume that during the pre-hydrodynamics phase the hard parton propagates as in vacuum. This set-up, allows us to isolate the contribution from the additional initial radiation by comparing with the usual scenarios in which the emitter is created inside the medium but with different starting points. Using both a numerical implementation of the fully resummed emission spectrum and the usual analytical approximations, we find that replacing an initial slab of the medium by vacuum yields to a significant reduction of the emission spectrum for low radiated gluon energies, while the high-energy tails remain largely unmodified. Finally, we assess the effect of replacing the initial medium by vacuum propagation on the single-inclusive particle suppression $R_{AA}$ and high-$p_T$ azimuthal asymmetry $v_2$. Our findings indicate that considering vacuum propagation prior to hydrodynamization leads to an increase in the $v_2$, thus corroborating the importance of the treatment of jet quenching in the initial stages for the correct description of both observables., Comment: 25 pages, 9 figures. Having a detailed theoretical knowledge of the low-energy structure of the heavy odd-mass nucleus $^{197}$Au is of prime interest as the structure of this isotope represents an important input to theoretical simulations of collider experiments involving gold ions performed worldwide at relativistic energies. In the present article, therefore, we report on new results on the structure of $^{197}$Au obtained from state-of-the-art multi-reference energy density functional (MR-EDF) calculations. Our MR-EDF calculations were realized using the Skyrme-type pseudo-potential SLyMR1, and include beyond mean-field correlations through the mixing, in the spirit of the Generator Coordinate Method (GCM), of particle-number and angular-momentum projected triaxially deformed Bogoliubov quasi-particle states. Comparison with experimental data shows that the model gives a reasonable description of $^{197}$Au with in particular a good agreement for most of the spectroscopic properties of the $3/2_1^+$ ground state. From the collective wave function of the correlated state, we compute an average deformation $\bar{\beta}(3/2_1^+)=0.13$ and $\bar{\gamma}(3/2_1^+)=40^\circ$ for the ground state. We use this result to construct an intrinsic shape of $^{197}$Au representing a microscopically-motivated input for precision simulations of the associated collider processes. Neutron stars explore matter at the highest densities in the universe such that their inner cores might undergo a phase transition from hadronic to exotic phases, e.g., quark matter. Such a transition could be associated with non-trivial structures in the density behavior of the speed of sound such as jumps and sharp peaks. Here, we employ a physics-agnostic approach to model the density dependence of the speed of sound in neutron stars and study to what extent the existence of non-trivial structures can be inferred from existing astrophysical observations of neutron stars. For this, we exhaustively study different equations of state, including as well those with explicit first-order phase transitions. We obtain a large number of different EoSs which reproduce the same astrophysical observations and obey the same physical constraints such as mechanical stability and causality. Among them, some have non-trivial structures in the sound speed while others do not. We conclude that astrophysical information to date do not require the existence of a phase transition to quark matter in the density range explored in the core of neutron stars., Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures. Phase transitions in a non-perturbative regime can be studied by ab initio Lattice Field Theory methods. In low metallicity supermassive stars, the hot $pp$ chain can serve as an alternative way to produce the CNO nuclei. In the astrophysical environment of high temperature, the proton capture of $^8$B can be faster than its beta decay, thus $^8$B$(p,\gamma)$$^9$C reaction plays an important role in the hot $pp$ chain. Due to the unstable nature of $^8$B and the lack of the $^8$B beam, the measurement of $^8$B$(p,\gamma)$$^9$C reaction can only be achieved by the indirect method, and large uncertainties exist. The Gamow shell model in the coupled-channel representation (GSM-CC) is applied to study the proton radiative capture reaction $^8$B$(p,\gamma)$$^9$C. For the calculation of the $^8$B$(p,\gamma)$$^9$C astrophysical factors, all E1, M1, and E2 transitions from the initial continuum states to the final bound states ${3/2}_1^-$of $^9$C are considered. The resonant capture to the first resonant state ${1/2}_1^-$ of $^{9}$C is also calculated. The experimental low-energy levels and the proton emission threshold in $^9$C are reproduced by the GSM-CC. The calculated astrophysical factors agrees with the existed experimental data from the indirect measurements. The reaction rates from the direct capture and resonant capture are calculated for the temperature range of astrophysical interest. The calculated total astrophysical $S$ factor is dominated by the E1 transition to the ground state of $^9$C. The GSM-CC calculations suggest that $S$ first increase with the energy of the center of mass $E_{\rm c.m.}$, and then decrease with the energy. This agrees with the existing data, which has smaller values at around zero energy and larger value in the energy range of 0.2 MeV $\leq E_{\rm c.m.} \leq$ 0.6 MeV., Comment: 10 pages, 9 figures

The superallowed Gamow-Teller transition in the doubly-magic-shell nucleus $^{100}$Sn and the high resolution spectral shape analysis in the fourth-forbidden nonunique transition in $^{115}$In indicate as much as $\sim 40\%$ {\it fundamental} quenching in the axial-current coupling constant $g_A$ in nuclei. This can be attributed to an effect of the trace anomaly in QCD "emerging" in nuclear medium. If confirmed, this would signal a major revamping to do in nuclear interactions consistent with chiral-scale symmetry in nuclear medium and a big impact on $0\nu$ and $\nu\nu$ double $\beta$ decays for BSM. The presence of nuclear pasta is expected to modify the transport properties in the mantle of neutron stars. The non-spherical geometry of the pasta nuclear clusters leads to anisotropies in the collision frequencies, impacting the thermal and electrical conductivity. We derive analytical expressions for the anisotropic collision frequencies using the Boltzmann equation in the relaxation time approximation. The average parallel, perpendicular and Hall electrical conductivities are computed in the high-temperature regime above crustal melting, considering incoherent elastic electron-pasta scattering and randomly oriented pasta structures. Numerical values are obtained at different densities and temperatures by using the IUFSU parametrization of the non-linear Walecka model to determine the crustal structure. We find that the anisotropy of the collision frequencies grows with the length of the pasta structures and, independently of the magnetic field, the presence of rod and slab phases decreases the conductivity by more than one order of magnitude. Our numerical results indicate that, even if the pasta structures might survive above the crustal melting point, no strong anisotropies are to be expected in the conduction properties in this temperature regime, even in the presence of a very high magnetic field.

Motivated by the wide range of kinematics covered by current and planned deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) facilities, we revisit the formalism, practical implementation, and numerical impact of target mass corrections (TMCs) for DIS on unpolarized nuclear targets. An important aspect is that we only use nuclear and later partonic degrees of freedom, carefully avoiding a picture of the nucleus in terms of nucleons. After establishing that formulae used for individual nucleon targets $(p,n)$, derived in the Operator Product Expansion (OPE) formalism, are indeed applicable to nuclear targets, we rewrite expressions for nuclear TMCs in terms of re-scaled (or averaged) kinematic variables. As a consequence, we find a representation for nuclear TMCs that is approximately independent of the nuclear target. We go on to construct a single-parameter fit for all nuclear targets that is in good numerical agreement with full computations of TMCs. International audience; Alpha and cluster decays are analyzed for heavy nuclei located above $^{208}$Pb on the chart of nuclides: $^{216,218}$Rn and $^{220-224}$Ra, that are also candidates for observing the $2 \alpha$ decay mode. A microscopic theoretical approach based on relativistic Energy Density Functionals (EDF), is used to compute axially-symmetric deformation energy surfaces as functions of quadrupole, octupole and hexadecupole collective coordinates. Dynamical least-action paths for specific decay modes are calculated on the corresponding potential energy surfaces. The effective collective inertia is determined using the perturbative cranking approximation, and zero-point and rotational energy corrections are included in the model. The predicted half-lives for $\alpha$-decay are within one order of magnitude of the experimental values. In the case of single $\alpha$ emission, the nuclei considered in the present study exhibit least-action paths that differ significantly up to the scission point. The differences in alpha-decay lifetimes are not only driven by Q values, but also by variances of the least-action paths prior to scission. In contrast, the $2 \alpha$ decay mode presents very similar paths from equilibrium to scission, and the differences in lifetimes are mainly driven by the corresponding Q values. The predicted $^{14}$C cluster decay half-lives are within three orders of magnitudes of the empirical values, and point to a much more complex pattern compared to the alpha-decay mode.

In this work, we compute the structure and composition of the inner crust of a neutron star in the presence of a strong magnetic field, such as it can be found in magnetars. To determine the geometry and characteristics of the crust inhomogeneities, we consider the compressible liquid drop model, where surface and Coulomb terms are included in the variational equations, and we compare our results with previous calculations based on more approximate treatments. For the equation of state (EoS), we consider two non-linear relativistic mean-field models with different slopes of the symmetry energy, and we show that the extension of the inhomogeneous region inside the star core due to the magnetic field strongly depends on the behavior of the symmetry energy in the crustal EoS. Finally, we argue that the extended spinodal instability observed in previous calculations can be related to the presence of small amplitude density fluctuations in the magnetar outer core, rather than to a thicker solid crust. The compressible liquid drop model formalism, while in overall agreement with the previous calculations, leads to a systematic suppression of the metastable solutions, thus allowing a more precise estimation of the crust-core transition density and pressure, and therefore a better estimation of the crustal radius., Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures, 3 tables. The nucleonic localization function has been used for a decade to study the formation of alpha-particles in nuclei, by providing a measure of having nucleons of a given spin in a single place. However, differences in interpretation remain, compared to the nucleonic density of the nucleus. In order to better understand the respective role of the nucleonic localization function and the densities in the alpha-particle formation in cluster states or in alpha-decay mechanism, both an analytic approximation and microscopic calculations, using energy density functionals, are undertaken. The nucleonic localization function is shown to measure the anti-centrifugal effect, and is not sensitive to the level of compactness of the alpha-particle itself. It probes the purity of the spatial overlap of four nucleons in the four possible (spin, isospin) states. The density provides, in addition, information on the compactness of an alpha-particle cluster. The respective roles of the nucleonic localization function and the density are also analyzed in the case of alpha-particle emission. There are two types of polarizations in spin-1 hadrons, and they are vector and tensor polarizations. The latter is a unique one since it does not exist in the spin-1/2 proton. The vector-polarized PDFs are the same for both the proton and spin-1 hadrons; therefore, we mainly investigate the unique PDFs in tensor-polarized hadrons. By using the operator product expansion, the twist-3 PDF $f_{LT}$ can be expressed by two terms in the same way with $g_T$ of the proton. The first term is determined by the twist-2 PDF $f_{1LL}$ (or $b_1$) which was measured by an experiment, and the second term is expressed by twist-3 quark-gluon distributions. If we neglect the higher-twist effects, $f_{LT}$ is simply given by $f_{1LL}$, and this relation is similar to the Wandzura-Wilczek relation of $g_T$. Furthermore, a new sum rule is also obtained for $f_{2LT}=2/3 f_{LT}- f_{1LL}$, which is analogous to the Burkhardt-Cottingham sum rule, in the tensor-polarized spin-1 hadrons. Jets provide us with ideal probes of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) produced in heavy-ion collisions, since its dynamics at its different scales is imprinted into the multi-scale substructure of the final state jets. We present a new approach to jet substructure in heavy-ion collisions based on the study of correlation functions of energy flow operators. By analysing the two-point correlator of an in-medium quark jet, we demonstrate that the spectra of correlation functions robustly identify the scales defined by the properties of the QGP, particularly those associated with the onset of colour coherence., 5 pages, 4 lovely figures. The need of reconciling our understanding of the behavior of hadronic matter across a wide range of densities, especially at the time when data from multimessenger observations and novel experimental facilities are flooding in, has provided new challenges to the nuclear models. Particularly, the density dependence of the isovector channel of the nuclear energy functionals seems hard to pin down if experiments like PREX-II (or PREX) and CREX are required to be taken on the same footing. We put to test this anomaly in a semi-agnostic modelling technique, by performing a full Bayesian analysis of static properties of neutron stars, together with global properties of nuclei as binding energy, charge radii and neutron skin calculated at the semi-classical level. Our results show that the interplay between bulk and surface properties, and the importance of high order empirical parameters that effectively decouple the subsaturation and the supersaturation density regime, might partially explain the tension between the different measurements and observations. If the surface behaviors, however, are decoupled from the bulk properties, we found a rather harmonious situation among experimental and observational data., 13 pages, 12 figures

We describe the most recent energy density functional derived within the quark meson coupling model. Although fit to the binding energies and charge radii of just seventy magic nuclei, the accuracy with which it reproduces nuclear properties across the entire periodic table is outstanding. As well as outlining a number of those results, we present an argument explaining why having a physically motivated model with a small number of parameters is especially desirable as one seeks to make predictions in new regions of N and Z. We investigate the localization and clustering features in $^{20}$Ne ($N=Z$) and neutron-rich $^{32}$Ne nuclei at zero and finite temperatures. The finite temperature Hartree-Bogoliubov theory is used with the relativistic density-dependent meson-nucleon coupling functional DD-ME2. It is shown that clustering features gradually weaken with increasing temperature and disappear when the shape phase transition occurs. Considering thermal fluctuations in the density profiles, the clustering features vanish at lower temperatures, compared to the case without thermal fluctuations. The effect of the pairing correlations on the nucleon localization and the formation of cluster structures are also studied at finite temperatures. Due to the inclusion of pairing in the calculations, cluster structures are preserved until the critical temperatures for the shape phase transition are reached. Above the critical temperature of the shape phase transition, the clustering features suddenly disappear, which differs from the results without pairing., 11 pages, 10 figures

The LHCb Collaboration has recently discovered a structure around 6.9 GeV in the double-$J/\psi$ mass distribution, possibly a first fully-charmed tetraquark state $X(6900)$. Based on vector-meson dominance (VMD) such a state should have a significant branching ratio for decaying into two photons. We show that the recorded LHC data for the light-by-light scattering may indeed accommodate for such a state, with a $\gamma \gamma$ branching ratio of order of $10^{-4}$, which is larger even than the value inferred by the VMD. The spin-parity assignment $0^{-+}$ is in better agreement with the VMD prediction than $0^{++}$, albeit not significantly at the current precision. Further light-by-light scattering data in this region, clarifying the nature of this state, should be obtained in the Run 3 and probably in the high-luminosity phase of the LHC (Run 4 etc.)., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

We present the first exploratory lattice quantum chromodynamics (QCD) calculation of the polarized gluon Ioffe-time pseudo-distribution in the nucleon. The Ioffe-time pseudo-distribution provides a frame-independent and gauge-invariant framework to determine the gluon helicity in the nucleon from first principles. We employ a high-statistics computation using a $32^3\times 64$ lattice ensemble characterized by a $358$ MeV pion mass and a $0.094$ fm lattice spacing. We establish the pseudo-distribution approach as a feasible method to address the proton spin puzzle with successive improvements in statistical and systematic uncertainties anticipated in the future. Within the statistical precision of our data, we find a good comparison between the lattice determined polarized gluon Ioffe-time distribution and the corresponding expectations from the state-of-the-art global analyses. We find a hint for a nonzero gluon spin contribution to the proton spin from the model-independent extraction of the gluon helicity pseudo-distribution over a range of Ioffe-time, $\nu\lesssim 9$., Comment: Version to be published in Phys. We perform an extensive study of the correlations between the neutrino-nucleon inverse mean free paths (IMFPs) and the underlying equation of states (EoSs). Strong interaction uncertainties in the neutrino mean free path are investigated in different density regimes. The nucleon effective mass, the nucleon chemical potentials, and the residual interactions in the medium play an important role in determining neutrino-nucleon interactions in a density-dependent manner. We study how the above quantities are constrained by an EoS consistent with (i) nuclear mass measurements, (ii) proton-proton scattering phase shifts, and (iii) neutron star observations. We then study the uncertainties of both the charged current and the neutral current neutrino-nucleon inverse mean free paths due to the variation of these quantities, using Hartree-Fock+random phase approximation method. Finally, we calculate the Pearson correlation coefficients between (i) the EoS-based quantities and the EoS-based quantities; (ii) the EoS-based quantities and the IMFPs; (iii) the IMFPs and the IMFPs. We find a strong impact of residual interactions on neutrino opacity in the spin and spin-isospin channels, which are not well constrained by current nuclear modelings., Change the figure styles; correct several typos in text; accepted by PRC

The answer is found in the way the hidden scale symmetry involving a dilaton emerges in strong nuclear correlations in nuclear matter. It is suggested that the same mechanism is at the origin at higher densities of the sound speed converging in the core of massive compact stars to what could be called ``pseudo-conformal sound speed" $v_s^2/c^2\approx 1/3$. A precision measurement of the superallowed Gamow-Teller transitions in the doubly magic nucleus $^{100}$Sn is suggested to confirm or falsify this prediction. We report on the construction of an accurate relativistic chiral nucleon-nucleon interaction up to the next-to-next-to-leading (NNLO) order. We compare the so-obtained neutron-proton phaseshifts with the next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N$^3$LO) nonrelativistic ones and we show that up to $T_\mathrm{lab.}=200$ MeV, the relativistic chiral nuclear force can describe the PWA93 phaseshifts and inelasticities as well as its N$^3$LO nonrelativistic counterparts. Maximizing the discovery potential of increasingly precise neutrino experiments will require an improved theoretical understanding of neutrino-nucleus cross sections over a wide range of energies. Low-energy interactions are needed to reconstruct the energies of astrophysical neutrinos from supernovae bursts and search for new physics using increasingly precise measurement of coherent elastic neutrino scattering. Higher-energy interactions involve a variety of reaction mechanisms including quasi-elastic scattering, resonance production, and deep inelastic scattering that must all be included to reliably predict cross sections for energies relevant to DUNE and other accelerator neutrino experiments. We study the shell-model formalism to include the isospin-symmetry-breaking correction ($\delta_{C}$) to nuclear matrix element of superallowed $0^+\to 0^+$ Fermi $\beta$ decays of $T=1$ nuclei. Based on a perturbation expansion in a small quantity, such as the deviation of the overlap integral between proton and neutron radial wave functions from unity or of the transition density from its isospin-symmetry value, we derive that $\delta_C$ can be obtained as a sum of six terms, including two leading order (LO) terms, two next-to-leading order (NLO) terms, one next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) term and one next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (NNNLO) term. The first two terms have been considered in a series of shell-model calculations of Towner and Hardy as well as in the recent calculation of the present authors, while the remaining four terms are usually neglected. A numerical calculation has been carried out for 13 transitions in the $p$, $sd$ and the lower part of $pf$ shells. Our results indicate that the magnitude of the sum of all higher order terms is of the order of $10^{-3}$ %. This number is well below typical theoretical errors quantified within the shell model with Woods-Saxon radial wave functions., Comment: 6 pages

The LHC newly-discovered resonant structures around 7 GeV, such as the $X(6900)$, could be responsible for the observed excess in light-by-light scattering between 5 and 10 GeV. We show that the ATLAS data for light-by-light scattering may indeed be explained by such a state with the $\gamma \gamma$ branching ratio of order of $10^{-4}$. This is much larger than the value inferred by the vector-meson dominance, but agrees quite well with the tetraquark expectation for the nature of this state. Infinitely negative potentials have finite ground state energy if use ismade of complex wave function. We study a few analytical examples and give numerical solutions for some −|x|npotentials.

We address the question of the role of low-energy nuclear physics data in constraining neutron star global properties, e.g., masses, radii, angular momentum, and tidal deformability, in the absence of a phase transition in dense matter. To do so, we assess the capacity of 415 relativistic mean field and non-relativistic Skyrme-type interactions to reproduce the ground state binding energies, the charge radii and the giant monopole resonances of a set of spherical nuclei. The interactions are classified according to their ability to describe these characteristics and we show that a tight correlation between the symmetry energy and its slope is obtained providing $N=Z$ and $N\ne Z$ nuclei are described with the same accuracy (mainly driven by the charge radius data). By additionally imposing the constraints from isobaric analog states and neutron skin radius in $^{208}$Pb, we obtain the following estimates: $E_{sym,2}=31.8\pm 0.7$ MeV and $L_{sym,2}=58.1\pm 9.0$ MeV. We then analyze predictions of neutron star properties and we find that the 1.4$M_\odot$ neutron star (NS) radius lies between 12 and 14 km for the "better" nuclear interactions. We show that i) the better reproduction of low-energy nuclear physics data by the nuclear models only weakly impacts the global properties of canonical mass neutron stars and ii) the experimental constraint on the symmetry energy is the most effective one for reducing the uncertainties in NS matter. However, since the density region where constraints are required are well above densities in finite nuclei, the largest uncertainty originates from the density dependence of the EDF, which remains largely unknown., Comment: 26 pages, 20 figures

In this work we study alpha-clustering in 18Ne and compare it with what is known about clustering in the mirror nucleus 18O. The excitation function of 18Ne was measured in inverse kinematics from the resonant elastic scattering reaction of 14O on 4He in the excitation energy range from 8 to 17 MeV, using the active target TexAT. The analysis was performed using a multi-channel R-matrix approach. Detailed spectroscopic information is obtained from the R-matrix analysis: excitation energy of the states, spin and parity as well as partial alpha and total widths. This information is compared with theoretical models and previous data. Clustering structures appear to be robust and mostly isospin symmetric. A good correspondence was found between the levels in 18O and 18Ne. We carried out an extensive shell model analysis of the experimental data. This comparison suggests that strongly clustered states remain organized in relation to the corresponding reaction channel identified by the number of nodes in the relative alpha plus core wave function. The agreement between theory and experiment is very good and especially useful when it comes to understanding the clustering strength distribution. The comparison of the experimental data with theory shows that certain states, especially at high excitation energies, are significantly more clustered than predicted. This indicates that the structure of these states is collective and is aligned towards the corresponding alpha reaction channel.

The multi-messenger detection of the gravitational-wave signal GW170817, the corresponding kilonova AT2017gfo and the short gamma-ray burst GRB170817A, as well as the observed afterglow has delivered a scientific breakthrough. For an accurate interpretation of all these different messengers, one requires robust theoretical models that describe the emitted gravitational-wave, the electromagnetic emission, and dense matter reliably. In addition, one needs efficient and accurate computational tools to ensure a correct cross-correlation between the models and the observational data. For this purpose, we have developed the NMMA (Nuclear-physics and Multi-Messenger Astrophysics) framework. The code allows incorporation of nuclear-physics constraints at low densities as well as X-ray and radio observations of isolated neutron stars. It also enables us to classify electromagnetic observations, e.g., to distinguish between supernovae and kilonovae. In previous works, the NMMA code has allowed us to constrain the equation of state of supranuclear dense matter, to measure the Hubble constant, and to compare dense-matter physics probed in neutron-star mergers and in heavy-ion collisions. The extension of the NMMA code presented here is the first attempt of analysing the gravitational-wave signal, the kilonovae, and the GRB afterglow simultaneously, which reduces the uncertainty of our constraints. We consider the diffractive photo-production of vector mesons on a proton, in the dipole model. We take into account the effect of the fluctuations of the the dipole size, whose magnitude is controlled by the overlap between the photon and the vector meson wave functions. Our predictions for the incoherent diffractive cross section, obtained within the Impact Parameter Saturation Model (IPSat), are shown to be in excellent agreement with the HERA data on $J/\Psi$ photo-production, down to very low momentum transfer, where the dipole size fluctuations are shown to play an essential role. This study complements, without introducing any additional parameter, previous treatments of incoherent diffractive processes in terms of fluctuations of the proton shape, by adding another source of ``geometrical'' fluctuations, namely those coming from the splitting of the photon into color dipoles of various sizes., Comment: 27 pages, 4 figures

Ab initio approaches to the nuclear many-body problem have seen their reach considerably extended over the past decade. However, collective excitations have been scarcely addressed so far due to the prohibitive cost of solving the corresponding equations of motion. Here, a numerically efficient method to compute electromagnetic response functions at zero- and finite-temperature in superfluid and deformed nuclei from an ab initio standpoint is presented and applied to $^{16}$O, $^{28}$Si, $^{46}$Ti and $^{56}$Fe. The nature of the $P_{c}(4312)$, $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$ pentaquarks is a fascinating theoretical question. Within the molecular picture their more usual interpretation is that of $I=\tfrac{1}{2}$ $\bar{D} \Sigma_c$ and $\bar{D}^* \Sigma_c$ bound states. Here we argue in favor of interpreting the $P_c(4457)$ pentaquark as a $I=\tfrac{3}{2}$ $\bar{D}^* \Sigma_c$ bound state (with spin $J=\tfrac{1}{2}$) instead. Owing to isospin symmetry breaking effects, with this identification the partial decay width of the $P_c(4457)^+$ into $J/\psi p$ will be of the same order of magnitude as the $P_{c}(4312)^+$ and $P_c(4440)^+$, in contrast with the considerably larger partial decay width in the $I=\tfrac{1}{2}$ scenario. In turn, this leads to a different hidden-charm molecular pentaquark spectrum, in which there are only four or five $P_{\psi}^N$ bound states instead of the usual seven, which might explain why the predicted $J=\tfrac{1}{2}$ and $\tfrac{3}{2}$ ($I=\tfrac{1}{2}$) $\bar{D}^* \Sigma_c^*$ molecular partners of the $P_c(4312)$ and $P_c(4440)$ have not been observed., Comment: 6 pages, 2 tables

The typical transverse momentum $Q_s(t)$ (or "saturation" momentum) acquired by a hard particle propagating through a $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM plasma increases over time like $t^\gamma$, with an anomalous exponent $\gamma>1/2$ characteristic of super-diffusion. This anomalous exponent is a function of the 't Hooft coupling $\lambda=g^2N_c$. Recently, a method has been proposed to systematically compute the perturbative series of $\gamma(\lambda)$ at weak coupling. This method relies on the traveling wave interpretation of the time evolution of $Q_s(t)$ and on the dominance of soft-collinear radiative corrections at large times. In this paper, we compute $\gamma(\lambda)$ up to $\mathcal{O}(\lambda^{2})$ using the double logarithmic behaviour of the BFKL equation in planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM at three loops. In this work, we obtain the leading corrections to the jet momentum broadening distribution in a QCD medium arising from the transverse flow of the matter. We first derive the single-particle propagator of a highly energetic parton resumming its multiple interactions with the homogeneous flowing matter, explicitly keeping the leading subeikonal flow terms. Then, we use this propagator to obtain the jet broadening distribution and its leading moments. We show that this distribution becomes anisotropic in the presence of transverse flow, since its odd moments are generally non-zero and proportional to the transverse velocity of the medium. Finally, we evaluate several odd moments, which we compare to the corresponding results at first order in opacity, showing that accounting for multiple in-medium scatterings is essential to describe some observables in dense nuclear matter., Comment: 29 pages, 2 figures, v2: journal version, references added

In recent years, there has been a significant effort to extract the temperature-dependent shear ($\eta/s$) and bulk ($\zeta/s$) viscosity over entropy ratios of the quark-gluon plasma from a global comparison of heavy-ion data with results of hydrodynamic simulations. However, anisotropic flow, which is arguably the most sensitive probe of viscosity, is only sensitive to an {\it effective\/} viscosity over entropy ratio, which is obtained by taking a weighted average over the temperature, and summing the contributions of shear and bulk. We estimate this effective viscosity using existing first-principles calculations, which give $0.17, Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures

We present a new method to perform variation after projection in many-body systems on quantum computers that does not require performing explicit projection. The technique employs the notion of ``oracle'', generally used in quantum search algorithms. We show how to construct the oracle and the projector associated with a symmetry operator. The procedure is illustrated for the parity, particle number, and total spin symmetries. The oracle is used to restore symmetry by indirect measurements using a single ancillary qubit. An Illustration of the technique is made to obtain the approximate ground state energy for the pairing model Hamiltonian.

We report the current understanding of heavy quarkonium production at high transverse momentum ($p_T$) in hadronic collisions in terms of QCD factorization. In this presentation, we highlight the role of subleading power corrections to heavy quarkonium production, which are essential to describe the $p_T$ spectrum of quarkonium at a relatively lower $p_T$. Unlike the octet baryons for $N_f=3$, there is no skyrmion coming from the $\eta^\prime$ meson. It is instead described as a fractional quantum Hall droplet, a pancake or a pita involving a singular $\eta^\prime$ ring in which Chern-Simons fields live. By incorporating hidden local symmetry and hidden scale symmetry in nuclear dynamics, I describe how to access baryon-charged quantum Hall droplets in dense nuclear matter in terms of the nuclear scale-chiral effective field theory approach ``G$n$EFT" with the $U_A(1)$ anomaly taken into account. I discuss how the single-flavor baryon that I will call ${\cal B}^s$ could be exposed in superdense baryonic matter, figuring, perhaps, in ``quark stars" associated with the baryon-quark continuity involving CFL or phase transitions., Comment: 8 pages, no figures

We present a Bayesian method to reconstruct event-by-event multiplicity fluctuations and rapidity correlations in p+Pb collisions at zero impact parameter from minimum-bias data, without assuming any model of the collision dynamics. We test it on Monte Carlo simulations with the Angantyr model, then apply it to ATLAS data on the distribution of charged multiplicity and transverse energy in p+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=5.02$ TeV. Fluctuations in $b=0$ collisions are quantum fluctuations which originate mostly from the proton wave function, and therefore have the potential to constrain the subnucleonic structure of the proton. The Angantyr model is found to overestimate fluctuations. In addition, we find that as the rapidity increases (towards the Pb-going side), not only the multiplicity density increases, but also its relative event-by-event fluctuation. This counter-intuitive phenomenon is also observed in simulations with Angantyr, and with the QCD dipole model, where its origin can be traced back to the branching process through which gluons are produced., Comment: 15 pages, 10 figures. v2: revised. We study the one-dimensional boost-invariant Boltzmann equation in the relaxation-time approximation using special moments of the distribution function for a system with a finite particle mass. The infinite hierarchy of moments can be truncated by keeping only the three lowest moments that correspond to the three independent components of the energy-momentum tensor. We show that such a three-moment truncation reproduces accurately the exact solution of the kinetic equation after a simple renormalization that takes into account the effects of the neglected higher moments. We derive second-order Israel-Stewart hydrodynamic equations from the three-moment equations, and show that, for most physically relevant initial conditions, these equations yield results comparable to those of the three-moment truncation, albeit less accurate. We attribute this feature to the fact that the structure of Israel-Stewart equations is similar to that of the three-moment truncation. In particular, the presence of the relaxation term in the Israel-Stewart equations, yields an early-time regime that mimics approximately the collisionless regime. A detailed comparison of the three-moment truncation with second-order non-conformal hydrodynamics reveals ambiguities in the definition of second-order transport coefficients. International audience; Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP), a QCD state of matter created in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions, has remarkable properties, including, for example, a low shear viscosity over entropy ratio. By detecting the collection of low-momentum particles that arise from the collision, it is possible to gain quantitative insight into the created matter. However, its fast evolution and thermalization properties remain elusive. Only using high momentum objects as probes of QGP can unveil its constituents at different wavelengths. In this review, we attempt to provide a comprehensive picture of what was, so far, possible to infer about QGP given our current theoretical understanding of jets, heavy-flavor, and quarkonia. We will bridge the resulting qualitative picture to the experimental observations done at the LHC and RHIC. We will focus on the phenomenological description of experimental observations, provide a brief analytical summary of the description of hard probes, and an outlook on the main difficulties we will need to surpass in the following years. To benchmark QGP-related effects, we will also address nuclear modifications to the initial state and hadronization effects.

We obtain the $s$- and $p$-wave low-energy scattering parameters for n$^3$H elastic scattering and the position of the $^4$H $J^\pi=1^-$ resonance using the pionless effective field theory at leading order. Results are extracted with three numerical techniques: confining the system in a harmonic oscillator trap, solving the Faddeev-Yakubovsky equations in configuration space, and using an effective two-body cluster approach. The renormalization of the theory for the relevant amplitudes is assessed in a cutoff-regulator range between $1\,\text{fm}^{-1}$ and $10\,\text{fm}^{-1}$. Most remarkably, we find a cutoff-stable/RG-invariant resonance in the $^4$H $J^\pi=1^-$ system. This $p$-wave resonance is a universal consequence of a shallow two-body state and the introduction of a three-body $s$-wave scale set by the triton binding energy. The stabilization of a resonant state in a few-fermion system through pure contact interactions has a significant consequence for the powercounting of the pionless theory. Specifically, it suggests the appearance of similar resonant states also in larger nuclei, like 16-oxygen, in which the theory's leading order does not predict stable states. Those resonances would provide a starting state to be moved to the correct physical position by the perturbative insertion of sub-leading orders, possibly resolving the discrepancy between data and contact EFT., Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures

Transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution functions (TMDs) were investigated at the twists 3 and 4 for spin-1 hadrons in addition to the twist-2 ones. They were found by studying all the possible decomposition of a quark correlation function in a Lorentz-invariant way with the Hermiticity and parity invariance. The time-reversal invariance was not imposed for the TMDs due to an active role of gauge links; however, they were used for collinear parton distribution functions (PDFs) by integrating the TMDs over the transverse momentum. We found that 30 TMDs exist in the tensor-polarized spin-1 hadron at the twists 3 and 4, whereas there are 10 TMDs at the twist 2. We also showed that there are 3 collinear PDFs at the twists 3 and 4. The corresponding TMD fragmentation functions exist sat the twists 2, 3, and 4 simply by changing function names and variables. Since the time-reversal invariance is valid in the collinear PDFs, the integrals of time-reversal-odd TMDs over the transverse momentum should vanish. The possibility of new short-distance physics applicable inside the cores of NS is incorporated into the equation of state generated by the quark-meson coupling model. The contribution of this new physics to the energy density is taken to be proportional to the amount of overlap between the quark cores of the baryons involved. With no change to the properties of symmetric nuclear matter at saturation density, including an incompressibility compatible with data on giant monopole resonances, one can sustain neutron stars with a maximum mass $M_{max}>2.1$ M$_\odot$, even when hyperons are included., 16 pages, 10 figures

We present developments and applications for the diagonalization of shell-model hamiltonians in a discrete non-orthogonal basis (DNO-SM). The method, and its actual numerical implementation CARINA, based on mean-field and beyond-mean field techniques has already been applied in previous studies and is focused on basis states selection optimization. The method is benchmarked against a full set of $sd$ shell exact diagonalizations, and is applied for the first time to the heavy deformed $^{254}$No nucleus.

The flavor evolution of neutrinos in environments with large neutrino number densities is an open problem at the nexus of astrophysics and neutrino flavor physics. Among the many unanswered questions pertaining to this problem, it remains to be determined whether neutrino-neutrino coherent scattering can give rise to nontrivial quantum entanglement among neutrinos, and whether this can affect the flavor evolution in a meaningful way. To gain further insight into this question, here we study a simple system of two interacting neutrino beams, and obtain the exact phase-space explored by this system using the Husimi quasi-probability distribution. We observe that the entanglement induced by the coupling leads to strong delocalization in phase-space with largely non-Gaussian quantum fluctuations. The link between the neutrino entanglement and quantum fluctuations is illustrated using the one- and two-neutrino entropy. In addition, we propose an approximate phase-space method to describe the interacting neutrinos problem, where the exact evolution is replaced by a set of independent mean-field evolutions with a statistical sampling of the initial conditions. The phase-space approach provides a simple and accurate method to describe the gross features of the neutrino entanglement problem. Applications are shown using time-independent and time-dependent Hamiltonians in the non-adiabatic regime.

A little more surprising, we also find the fundamental principle of dynamics of Isaac Newton and the momentum wavelength relationship of Albert Einstein and Louis de Broglie.By dividing the 1st Ampere term by the 1st Gaussian term, we find a group velocity (or similar), both for electromagnetism and for gravitation, provided we verify a relationship between the constants of the source field equations concerned.
