The Camëntsá and Inga indigenous communities still rely on agroforestry systems for their livelihood attainment, although globalization effects have also reached their settlements. Agroforestry systems, especially home gardens, are experiencing reduced size and species diversity and therefore gradually disappearing. This research aims to determine the indigenous family labor contribution to agroforestry systems as a strategy to secure their livelihoods. The methods include a census, household survey, interviews with key informants, and direct observation. Family labor contributes to reducing production costs in agroforestry systems. Three groups of households were identified from the cluster analysis to determine the family labor contribution: smaller, medium-sized, and larger farms. The smaller farms register better economic indicators compared to the other two groups. In addition, they show a positive cost–benefit ratio and profitability, which is explained by lower production costs compared to the gross income generated. Although larger farms have higher gross revenues, these households also assume higher production costs and incur higher input costs. Medium-sized farms face the worst scenario. There is a relationship between the use of family labor and the achievement of livelihoods related to economic indicators and biodiversity and the variety of species harvested on farms and used for self-consumption. Objective: To conduct a bibliographic review of the inventory and distribution of the buffalo herd, leading dairy buffalo breeds, and to map the main research topics for dairy buffaloes, emphasizing feeding methods and their effects on milk and mozzarella cheese quality. Design/Methodology/Approach: Analysis of the main research topics on dairy buffalo, through a wide review of specialized journals. Results: The production and processing of buffalo milk has gained relevance in recent years along different latitudes thanks to its nutritional qualities and the international regard for products such as mozzarella cheese. The main studies are carried out in Asia, Italy, and Brazil, emphasizing that diets are a determining factor in yield and quality of milk and its derivatives, but that genetics, environment, and animal management are what in the end model these characteristics. Study Limitations/Implications: To conduct further research on dairy buffalo, especially in Mexico, where it has important development opportunities. Findings/Conclusions: The bibliographic body of work presents practical restrictions, advances are recognized, and also the need to further research topics such as reproduction and animal welfare, management and valuation of buffalo milk and its derivatives, with the opportunity to explore organic production.

Tesis (Doctorado en Problemas Económico Agroindustriales) Este trabajo aborda el estudio del proceso de innovación desde la perspectiva de las redes de innovación; para ello, se presentan tres estudios, dos investigaciones empíricas (maíz y hule natural) aplicadas a la producción agrícola en México y un estudio teórico sobre la intervención y orquestación en redes. Se utiliza el análisis de redes sociales como herramienta para identificar estructura y patrones de relaciones. Los resultados indican que los productores aprenden principalmente de otros productores (mediante redes emergentes); en las redes analizadas, existen actores que concentran relaciones de poder tanto para fomentar el aprendizaje como para obstaculizar los flujos de información. La principal conclusión es que la aplicación del análisis de redes sociales ayuda a: i) identificar la naturaleza de la innovación, la cual define la aceptación o rechazo de una nueva tecnología en ambientes locales; ii) detectar la estructura de relaciones de los actores que participan en la red, así como actores a diferentes niveles que restringen o promueven el proceso de innovación; iii) definir el marco para la intervención en la red mediante el proceso de orquestación; y iv) analizar redes dinámicas en el aprendizaje de nuevas tecnologías.
