The Questionnaire of Group Responsibility of Cooperation in Learning Teams (CRCG) was developed to assess university students' responsibility and cooperation skills in learning teams. The presented study aims to develop a Turkish version of the CRCG and to analyze its psychometric properties. The original scale was translated into Turkish and back-translated into English. Participants consisted of 231 (152 women, 79 men) university students. Cronbach's alpha of this questionnaire was high, indicating excellent internal consistency. The temporal reliability of the Turkish version of the CRCG and its convergent validity with the Dimensions of the Learning Organization Questionnaire was acceptable. The confirmatory factor analysis results pointed out that the two-factor structure of the test provided valid results. Taken together, all these results indicate that the questionnaire has good psychometric characteristics. As a result, the Turkish version of CRCG enables researchers and professors to measure students' responsibility and cooperation skills in learning teams., Bu çalışmanın amacı León del Barco, Mendo-Lázaro, Felipe-Castaño, Fajardo-Bullón, ve Iglesias-Gallego (2018) tarafından geliştirilen Öğrenme Gruplarında Grup Sorumluluğu ve İşbirliği Ölçeği’nin psikometrik özelliklerinin incelenerek Türkçe’ ye uyarlanmasıdır. Çalışmaya Çankaya Üniversitesi’nin farklı bölümlerinden, 18-49 yaş aralığından oluşan 231 kişi (152 kadın, 79 erkek) katılmıştır. Veri toplama araçları olarak, Öğrenen Örgüt Boyutları Ölçeği ve Öğrenme Gruplarında Grup Sorumluluğu ve İşbirliği Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Ölçeğin Cronbach alfa katsayısı .93, yapı geçerliliği ve test-tekrar test tutarlılığı değerleri yeterli olarak bulunmuştur. Doğrulayıcı faktör analizi sonucu, ölçeğin iki faktörlü yapısını desteklemektedir. Elde edilen bulgular ölçeğin psikometrik özelliklerinin iyi olduğunu ve öğrenme gruplarında sorumluluk ve iş birliği becerilerinin değerlendirilmesinde kullanılabileceğini göstermektedir.

Research studies have suggested that increasing dopamine in a natural way by listening to a short piece of enjoyable music has the potential to improve human performance. However, there is not enough empirical evidence whether listening music before studying instructional material enhances learning. Considering this need, the goal of this study is to investigate the effect of listening enjoyable music before study on learning outcomes. A total of 80 students participated in this experimental study having a between-subjects design. Half of the participants were randomly assigned to the experimental group in which they listened enjoyable music whereas the other half were assigned to the control group in which they listened no music. Afterwards, all the participants studied the instructional materials. The results demonstrate that learning gains were higher in the experimental group than in the control group. Particularly, the results of the current study suggest that when people listen to enjoyable music before they study the instructional materials, they learn better., Araştırma çalışmaları, eğlenceli kısa bir müzik parçasını dinleyerek doğal yolla dopamini artırmanın insan performansını geliştirme potansiyeline sahip olduğunu iddia etmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı öğretmenlerin çevrimiçi bilgi arama stratejilerini cinsiyet, günlük internet kullanımı ve bilgi arama deneyimi açılarından incelemektir. Çalışmada, veriler 42 öğretmenden demografik bilgi anketi ve sesli düşünme rehberiyle toplanmıştır. Nitel olarak elde edilen veriler alanyazındaki bilgi arama stratejilerine göre sayısallaştırılmıştır. Elde edilen verilere Mann Whitney U ve Kruskal Wallis testleri uygulanmıştır. Analizler sonucunda öğretmenlerin bilgi arama stratejilerinin cinsiyet ve günlük internet kullanım düzeyi açılarından anlamlı farklılık göstermediği tespit edilmiştir. Çevrimiçi bilgi arama deneyimi açısından deneyimli ve deneyimsiz öğretmenlerin amaçlı düşünme bilgi arama stratejisi açısından anlamlı farklılık gösterdiği ortaya çıkmıştır., The purpose of this study is to determine the teacher’s online information searching strategies by the gender, daily internet use and expertise in information searching on the web. The data was collected through demographic information questionnarie and think aloud protocol from 42 teachers. Qualitative data were coded according to the frequency of information searching strategies in the literature. Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests were used for analyzing study data. Analyses of the results showed that teachers’ information searching strategies had no differences between gender and daily internet use. Significant difference was found between expert and novice teachers in the purposeful thinking strategy.

The growing interest in using graphs in education created the need for research-based guidelines. This study examined the effects of graph type, conceptual domain and perceptual organization of information on graph comprehension. Forty-two undergraduate students were given eight different kinds of graphs, and their descriptions were analyzed. The results indicated that graphical reasoning was influenced by perceptual grouping of information in visual chunks rather than by type of graph. Learners faced difficulties when an unconventional graph format was used. Implications for research and practice were also discussed.

Hızlı seri görsel sunum, dikkat kırpması, ve ikili görev olgularından elde edilen kanıtlar insanoğlunun kısa-süreli konsalidasyon sürecinde anlamlı bir sınırlılığı olduğunu öne sürmektedir. Kısa-süreli konsalidasyon, erken temsillerin daha kalıcı bellek biçimlerine nakledilmesidir. Yapılmış çalışmalar hedef uyaranlardan sonra gösterilen maskelerin bilgilerin konsalidasyonunu yarıda kestiğini göstermesine rağmen, bilgilerin olaysal bellek için konsalidasyonunda dikkatin rolü hakkında yeterli kanıt yoktur. Dikkatin ve hedef uyaran ile maske arasındaki uyaran başlangıcı senkronizasyonsuzluğunun (UBS) oluntusal belleğe etkisini incelemek için bir elektrofizyolojik ve beş davranışsal deney yapılmıştır. Maskeler hedef uyaranlardan sonra değişen UBS'lerde sunulmuştur. Several lines of evidence from rapid serial visual presentation, attentional blink, and dual-task interference phenomena propose that human beings have a significant limitation on the short-term consolidation process. Short-term consolidation is transferring early representations to more durable forms of memory. Although previous research has shown that masks presented after targets interrupt the consolidation process of information, there is not enough evidence for the role of attention in consolidation for episodic memory. One electrophysiological and five behavioral experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of attention and stimulus onset asynchrony (SOA) between targets and masks on episodic memory. Masks were presented after targets with varying SOAs. The participants in the divided attention condition but not the ones in the full attention condition performed the attention-demanding secondary task after the presentation of the masks. The results showed that reducing SOA between targets and masks caused an impairment in memory performance for divided attention but not for full attention, providing evidence for the necessity of attention for the short-term consolidation process. Electrophysiological results demonstrated that this impairment did not result from perceptual processes. 126

These problems can be inhibited if appropriate cognitive tools are provided to support cognitive processes of learners. The purpose of this study was to explore the factors affecting the use of cognitive tools, how learners used these tools and to what extend cognitive tools support students' learning in web-based learning environments. The participants were 31 students who attended the `Computer Networks and Communication` course, which was delivered via the Internet. Data were obtained from group interviews, computer logs, questionnaires and surveys. The collected data were subjected to a content analysis.The results indicated that some factors such as learning strategies, prior knowledge, usability of tools, lack of orientation towards the tools, cost, and level of the course influenced the use of the cognitive tools. E-Yönetim bilgi ve iletişim teknolojilerinin (BİT) kullanılması vasıtasıyla geleneksel yönetimin uygulanması sırasında karşılaşılan engelleri ortadan kaldırabilir. BİT insanların yaşamını kolaylaştırmak için hükümet, kamu ve özel kuruluşlar tarafından yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Mevcut çalışmada katılımcıların Libya'da e-yönetim uygulanmasının önündeki engeller hakkındaki fikirlerini almak için anket araştırması yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Katılımcılardan elde edilen nicel verilerin toplanması amacıyla 120 katılımcıya çevrimiçi anket sunulmuştur. Katılımcıların e-yönetimin zorluklarına ilişkin algılarını değerlendirmek için tanımlayıcı istatistikler kullanılmıştır. Genel değerlendirme Libya'daki e-yönetim projesinin şu an için başarısız olabileceğini göstermektedir. Strateji değerlendirmesine verilen cevapların ortalaması 3.18 olup, bu sonuç değerlendirmenin şu anda uygulamak için yeterli strateji olmadığını göstermektedir. Genel yönetim değerlendirmesi ortalama değerin 3.34 olduğunu yani bu değerin 5'ten düşük olduğunu göstermiştir. Bu sonuç devlet kurumlarında başarılı yönetimin olmayışı nedeniyle beklenmektedir. Tasarım değerlendirmesinin analizi de başarısızlığa yakın olunduğunu göstermiştir. Genel yeterlilik değerlendirmesine rağmen, 5.28 ortalama değere sahip olan bir faktörün varlığı başarılı olduğu görünmektedir. Bu faktör sistem yöneticileri, geliştiriciler, operatörler ve kullanıcılar tarafından alınan bilgi ve iletişim teknolojileri eğitimidir. Bu bölümün genel değerlendirmesi 4.81'lik bir ortalama değere sahiptir. Genel teknoloji değerlendirmesi 3.61 ortalama değere sahip olup, bu değer 5'ten düşüktür ve teknoloji değerlendirmesinin şuanda uygulanması durumunda başarısız olacağını göstermektedir. Çalışmamızın son değerlendirmesi, ortalama değeri 5'ten küçük olan diğer değerlendirmelerdir. Bu değerlendirmede ortalama değerin 5'ten büyük olduğu yalnızca bir ifadeye sahiptir. Bu ifade uygulayıcıların azmine ilişkin bir ifade olup, verilen cevapların ortalama değeri 5.02'dir. E-management can eliminate the obstacles faced by traditional management by the use of information and communication technologies (ICT). ICT is widely used by government, public and private institutions in order to facilitate the life of people. The current study uses a survey research method in order to obtain opinions of the participants on obstacles of applying e-management in Libya. An online survey was presented to 120 participants to get self-reported quantitative data. Descriptive statistics were used to evaluate the perceptions of the participants on the obstacles of e-management. The overall driver assessment shows that e-management project in Libya is possible to fail at current time. The mean of responses on the strategy assessment is 3.18, suggesting that there is not enough strategy to apply this assessment at current time. The overall management assessment showed that the mean value was 3.34, which is less than 5. This result was expected due to the lack of successful management in governmental institutions. The analysis of the design assessment showed that it was close to the failure. In spite of the overall competencies assessment, the existence of one factor seems to succeed where it has a mean value of 5.28. This factor is the education of information and communication technology by system managers, developers, operators and users. The overall assessment of this section has a mean value of 4.81. The overall technology assessment has a mean value of 3.61, which is less than 5 and indicate that the technology assessment would fail if applied at current time. The final assessment of our study is the other assessments which have a mean value less than 5. This assessment has a one statement in which mean value of the assessment is greater than 5. This statement is about perseverance by implementers where the mean value of responses is 5.02. 131

Bu tez çalışmasında, İspanya Premier Ligi futbol maçlarının tahmin sonuçları üç makine öğrenme algoritması kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Veri seti, dört sezon maç istatistiklerini ve sonuçlarını içermektedir. Ayrıca bu tez, maç sonuçlarına doğrudan etki edebilecek istatistiksel bazda performans parametrelerini incelemiştir. Öznitelik seçimi teknikleri, veri kümesine ait olan ilgisiz öznitelikleri azaltmak için kullanılmıştır. Tahmin sonuçları hesaplanırken üç farklı sınıflandırma algoritması kullanılmıştır. Bunlar yapay sinir ağları, destekçi vektör makineleri ve k-en yakın komşu algoritmasıdır. Destek vektör makinesi sınıflandırıcısı, veri kümesinde seçilen on beş özellik için uygulandığında diğer sınıflandırıcılara göre yüksek sonuçlar üretmiştir. In this thesis, prediction results of the Spanish La Liga football matches were obtained by using three machine learning algorithms. The dataset includes four season match statistics and the results of these matches. In addition, this thesis investigated which performance parameters of the football game statistics affected the game results. Feature selection techniques were used to reduce the number of attributes. Three different classifiers which are artificial neural network, support vector machine and k- nearest neighborhood were used for prediction. Support vector machine classifier reached better results than the other classifiers when applied for the chosen fifteen attributes in the dataset. 83

Elektronik devletin herhangi bir ülkede ekonomik ve sosyal kalkınmayı teşvik etme potansiyeline sahip olduğu iyi bilinmektedir. Elektronik devlet, kamu sektöründeki resmi kurumların idari verimliliğini arttırmak, idari ve mali yolsuzluğu azaltmak ve vatandaş ile devlet arasında güven oluşturmak için fırsatlar sunmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, Irak'ta bugüne kadar başarılı ve kapsamlı bir elektronik devlet sistemi inşa eden girişimlerin çoğu, kullanılabilirlik sorunlarından dolayı sıkıntı çektikleri için başarısız olmuştur.Irak'taki elektronik devlet girişimleri açısından, Irak'taki mevcut bürokrasi ve idari yolsuzluk nedeniyle bu kritik konuya olan büyük ilgiye rağmen elektrik devlet modeli sorunludur. Birçok araştırmacı, bu ülkenin elektronik devlet açısından en az gelişmiş ülkelerden biri olduğu sonucuna varmıştır. It is well known that electronic government has the potential to promote economic and social development in any country. Electronic government provides opportunities to enhance administrative efficiency of official institutions in the public sector, to decrease administrative and financial corruption, and to build trust between the citizen and the government. Nevertheless, most initiatives aim to construct a successful and comprehensive electronic government in Iraq failed because they increasingly suffer from usability problems.In terms of electronic government initiatives in Iraq, the model is problematic in spite of great interest on this critical issue because of the existing bureaucracy and administrative corruption in Iraq. Many researchers have confirmed that this country is considered one of the least developed country in terms of electronic government. Thus, the development of electronic government in Iraq requires the promotion of the usability of electronic government. Considering these needs, the main goal of this study is to evaluate the usability of electronic government in Iraq for three most frequently used websites. A total of 30 subjects participated this usability study. The results showed that these three websites suffered from critical usability problems. Suggestions to minimize these usability problems were discussed. 87

Bu çalışmanın temel amacı dünyadaki birçok ülkeye ait eğitim bakanlığı websitelerinin erişebilirliğini araştırmaktır. Ülkeler gelir seviyelerine göre dört seviye altında gruplandırılmıştır. Bunlar düşük gelir, alt-orta, üst-orta ve yüksek gelir grubu ülkelerdir. Web sitelerinin kullanılabilirliği Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 1.0 ve 2.0 ilkelerine göre analiz edilmiştir. Bu değerlendirmede EvalAccess 2 ve TAW araçları kullanılmıştır. Değerlendirme sonuçları WCAG ilkelerinin çiğnenerek websitelerinde birçok erişilebilirlik problemlerinin olduğunu açığa çıkarmıştır. After the massive proliferation to websites around the world, attention is now on how individuals with different types of disability can use these websites and interact with them. The main aim of this study is to investigate the accessibility of education ministry websites in most countries around the world. The countries are classified into four levels according to their level of income, these being low-income, lower-middle income, upper-middle income and high-income. Usability of the websites is analyzed by employing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 1.0 and 2.0. The EvalAccess 2.0 and TAW tools were used to analyze the accessibility of these websites. The evaluation results of those websites have revealed many accessibility problems regarding violations of WCAG. This study provides some guidelines which should be taken into account when developing a website. 92

Bu çalışmada duygusal tasarımın insan-bilgisayar etkileşimi üzerine olan etkisini incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç için, duygusal ve duygusal olmayan materyaller hazırlanmıştır. Bu materyaller hem resimleri hem de metinleri içermektedir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, toplamda 57 adet katılımcı duygusal veya duygusal olmayan gruba rastgele atanmıştır. Duygunun insan-bilgisayar etkileşimi üzerine etkisini araştırmak için deney boyunca göz takibi verileri elde edilmiştir Duygusal tasarımlı format verilen katılımcılar duygusal olmayan tasarımlı format verilen katılımcılara göre öğrenmeyi ölçen testlerde daha iyi performans göstermiştir. Sonuçlar duygusal tasarımlı formatın insan-bilgisayar etkileşiminin bir hedefi olan öğrenilebilirliği arttırdığını desteklemektedir. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the effect of emotional design on human-computer interaction (HCI). For this purpose, emotional and non-emotional materials were prepared. These materials contain both texts and pictures. In accordance with this aim, a total of 57 participants were randomly assigned to the emotional or to the non-emotional group. For investigating the effect of emotion on human-computer interaction, eye tracking data were obtained during the experiment. The participants who were given the emotional designed format performed better in tests that assess learning than the participants who were given non-emotional designed format. The results suggest that emotional designed format enhanced learnability which is a goal of human-computer interaction. 110

UCI makineöğrenme veritabanından elde edilen 297 vaka, 14 nitelik ve 2 sınıf içeren bir verisetikullanılmıştır. Bu tez çalışmasında kalp hastalığı tahmin etmek için yapay sinir ağı,destek vektör makinesi (DVM) ve k-yakın komşu gibi üç farklı makine öğrenmeyöntemi işe koşulmuştur. En iyi performans yapay sinir ağları kullanıldığında eldeedilmiştir. Sonuçlar tartışılmıştır. Heart diseases are ranked as number one cause of death in the world. The aim of thisthesis is to find a robust method for predicting heart disease. A dataset obtained from theUCI machine learning warehouse consisting of 297 cases and 14 features with 2 classesof attributes was used. In this thesis three different machine learning methods, namelyArtificial Neural Network (ANN), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and K-nearestneighbor (KNN) were used to predict heart disease. The best performance was obtainedwhen ANN was used. The results have been discussed. 90

Meme kanseri dünyada kadınlar arasında başlıca ölüm nedeni olarak yer almaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ameliyat sonrası meme kanseri tekrarını tahmin eden gürbüz bir yöntem bulmaktır. Bu çalışmada 194 örnek içeren Wisconsin Prognostik Meme Kanseri veritabanı kullanılmıştır. Meme kanseri ile ilgili gerçek veriler içerdiği için bu veritabanı seçilmiştir. Bu tezde, meme kanseri tahminini için çok katmanlı perceptron ve genelleştirilmiş regresyon sinir ağı işe koşulmuştur. Yapay sinir ağları ile ulaşılan sonuçlar ayrıca destek vektör makinesi ile elde edilenlerle karşılaştırılmıştır. En iyi sonuç, genelleştirilmiş regresyon sinir ağı yöntemi kullanıldığında bulunmuştur. Sonuçlar ve gelecek çalışmalar tartışılmıştır. Breast cancer is ranked the primary cause of death among women in the world. The goal of this study is to find a robust method for predicting recurrence and non-recurrence of breast cancer after surgery. The Wisconsin Prognostic Breast Cancer (WPBC) database which includes 194 samples is used in this study. The reason for choosing this database is due to the fact that it contains real data regarding breast cancer. In this thesis, breast cancer prediction is implemented by using Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) and Generalized Regression Neural Network (GRNN). The results of the artificial neural networks are also compared with the ones obtained by Support Vector Machine (SVM). The best performance is from obtained when GRNN method is used. The results and future work are discussed. 98
