The reduction of the sent to landfill amount of municipal solid waste (MSWs) and municipal sewage sludges (SSs) is of great importance both for the circular economy concept, which has been on the agenda in recent years, and more careful management of MSW and SS. Pyrolysis method is one of the most suitable methods that can be utilized to treat these wastes together. In this study, it was evaluated to convert these wastes into useful products by co-pyrolyzing MSW and SS, and obtained liquid products were characterized. Samples were prepared by mixing different percentages (wt. 25-75%) from these wastes. The values of moisture content, ash content, volatile matter, and fixed carbon of prepared samples before the pyrolysis process were determined. The prepared samples were co-pyrolyzed at 400 °C. Elemental analysis (C, H, O, N, S), heating value measurement, FT-IR, and 1H-NMR analysis were carried out to make the characterization of the obtained liquid products after the co-pyrolysis process. According to analysis results, it was observed that M1 (25% of MSW and 75% of SS) showed the highest liquid yield. For all liquid products, it has been determined that most of the pyrolysis liquid products consist of aliphatic compounds. Bu çalışmada, KKA ve AÇ’lerin birlikte piroliz edilmesiyle atıkların faydalı ürünlere dönüştürülmesi irdelenmiş ve elde edilen sıvı ürünün karakterizasyonu yapılmıştır. Örnekler her iki atık türünden farklı miktarlarda (ağırlıkça %25-75 oranlarında) karıştırılarak hazırlanmıştır. Piroliz öncesi hazırlanan analitik örneklerin nem, kül, uçucu madde, sabit karbon ve element kompozisyonu (C, H, O, N, S) tespit edilmiştir. Ağırlıkça farklı oranlarda hazırlanan analitik örneklerin 400°C’de birlikte pirolizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Birlikte piroliz sonrası elde edilen sıvı ürünlerin karakterizasyonu için elementel, ısıl değer, FT-IR ve 1H-NMR analizleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre, en yüksek sıvı ürün verimi M1 kodlu (%25 KKA ve %75 AÇ’nin karışımı ile hazırlanan) analitik örnekte gözlenmiştir. Genel olarak tüm piroliz sıvı ürünlerinde, büyük kısmın alifatik bileşiklerden oluştuğu tespit edilmiştir. Sürdürülebilir kentsel katı atık yönetimi için her iki atığın da depolama sahalarına gönderilmesi yerine birlikte piroliz edilerek katma değeri olan ürünler elde edilmesi, çevresel ve ekonomik açıdan katkı sağlayacak bir seçenek olarak görülmektedir.

Faz değişim malzemeleri (FDM) kullanılarak gizli ısının depolanması, termal enerji depolamada, oldukça etkili bir yoldur. These materials store energy in the form of latent heat at constant temperature during phase transition and release the same stored energy. Paraffin is one of the important organic PCMs used with methods such as shape stabilization and encapsulation. Due to many limitations affecting the thermal performance of the material, such as the high economic cost of any technical grade paraffin, fluid leakage during the phase transition procedure, low thermal conductivity and low surface area, in order to improve the desired physical properties and thermal performance in latent heat storage, it is important to develop composite phase change materials obtained with paraffin wax. This review paper summarizes studies on phase change materials obtained using paraffin wax, and recommendations on the use of plastic, wax and nanomaterial wastes, which are excessive in the environment, in composite phase change materials are presented within the framework of global climate change mitigation strategies.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, paladyumun giderimi için atık portakal kabuklarının adsorpsiyon potansiyelini değerlendirmektir. Doğrusal modeller arasında Langmuir izoterm modeli adsorpsiyon prosesi için en uygun olarak belirlenmiştir. Yalancı ikinci dereceden modelin adsorpsiyon kinetik analizi, partikül içi taşınmanın tek hız sınırlayıcı adım olmadığını ortaya koymuştur. Doğrusal olmayan matematiksel modellemeye göre, Yumuşatılmış Spline modeli daha yüksek R2 ve daha düşük Toplam Kare Hatası (SSE) ve Kök Ortalama Kare Hatası (RMSE) ile en uygun model olmuştur. Adsorpsiyon çalışmalarında R2'nin yanı sıra, SSE ve RMSE değerlerinin de dikkate alınması gerektiği sonucuna varılmıştır., The objective of this work was to evaluate the adsorption potential of waste orange peels for the removal of palladium. Among linear models, Langmuir isotherm model was more suitable for the adsorption process. Adsorption kinetics analysis of pseudo-second-order model revealed that intraparticle transport was not the only rate-limiting step. Analysis based on the nonlinear mathematical modeling indicated that Smoothing Spline model shows best fitting with higher R-square (R2) and lower Sum of Square Error (SSE) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). It was concluded that the SSE and RMSE values should be taking into account as well as R2 in the adsorption studies.

Bu nedenle bu çalışmada, iki farklı MCDM yöntemi ile vaks içeren kompozit atıkların değerlendirilme yöntemi (kimyasal geri dönüşüm, mekanik geri dönüşüm, insinerasyon, piroliz ve depolama) bütünsel bir yaklaşım ile değerlendirilmiştir. Öncelikle, belirlenen kriterler (küresel ısınma potansiyeli, enerji kullanımı, sağlık etkisi, kimyasal kullanımı, işletme maliyeti, yatırım maliyeti, geri dönüştürülmüş malzeme kalitesi, teknolojik uygunluk, çevre politikalarına ve yasaya uygunluk, kaynakların korunumu) Entropi, CRITIC (Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation) ve SWARA (Step-wise weight assessment ratio analysis) metotları ile ağırlıklandırılmıştır. It is important to demonstrate a holistic approach in terms of environmental, economic and technical aspects during the determination of the most appropriate evaluation method. At this point, it is possible to use Multi-Criteria Decision Making Techniques (MCDM), where the most suitable alternative (chemical recycling, mechanical recycling, incineration, pyrolysis and landfill) can be selected with the help of different criteria in solving problems in many fields. The criteria determined ((global warming potential, energy use, health impact, chemical use, operating cost, investment cost, recycled material quality, technological compliance, compliance with environmental policies and laws, conservation of resources) are weighted by Entropy, CRITIC (Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation) and SWARA (Step-wise weight assessment ratio analysis) methods. With the results obtained from each weighting method, evaluations were made with ANP (Analytic Network Process) and TOPSIS (The Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution), separately. In the ANP and TOPSIS results made with all the weighting methods used, it was determined that the pyrolysis alternative was the most appropriate option.

There are three basic approaches to CO2 capture: pre-combustion, post-combustion and Oxy-fuel combustion. Adsorption is an effective CO2 capture method that can be used pre and post combustion. However, adsorbing CO2 from air is still a problem for sources with high CO2 concentrations such as flue gas and syngas. Much of the relevant literature focuses on the development of adsorbents for higher adsorption capacity and lower regeneration energy consumption. These studies focus especially on the use of different solid materials as CO2 adsorbents. Carbon-based adsorbents, zeolites, molecular sieves, metal-organic frameworks are used as adsorbent materials. In this context, carbon materials are preferred for CO2 adsorption due to their structural properties and high resistance to harsh environments. In this study, the studies conducted in the literature on CO2 traps have been examined and among them, the use of carbon nanotubes, which are preferred as adsorbents due to their high adsorption properties, and their application area, are used as CO2 adsorbers.

Bu çalışma; poliolefin plastik sınıfında en fazla atık hacmine sahip olan düşük yoğunluklu polietilen (LDPE) ve ambalajlamada sıkça kullanılan alüminyum içerikli kompozitlerinin (C/LDPE), katma değerli ürünler elde etmek için pirolizi ve elde edilen ürünlerin karakterizasyonunu içermektedir. LDPE ve C/LDPE atıkları, kısa analiz, elementel analiz ve TGA ile incelenmiş; ardından farklı sıcaklık (400-600-800 ℃) ve ısıtma hızlarında (5-10-20 ℃/dk) sabit yataklı reaktörde piroliz edilmiştir. Sonrasında atıklar, zeolit katalizörlüğünde 600 °C sıcaklık ve 20 °C/dk ısıtma hızında piroliz edilerek, katalizörün sıvı ürün üzerindeki etkisi değerlendirilmiştir. Elde edilen sıvı ürünün vaks olarak değerlendirilme potansiyelini belirlemek için, sıvı ürünlerin ve temin edilen ticari vaksların GC-MS, FT-IR ve 1H-NMR analizleri yapılmıştır. Sonuçlara göre, atık C/LDPE’den elde edilen ürün ticari ‘heavy wax’ ile benzerlik göstermektedir., This study is about the thermal pyrolysis of low-density polyethylene (LDPE), which has the highest waste volume in the polyolefins plastic class, and aluminum-containing composites (C/LDPE), which are frequently used in packaging, to recover value-added products and then characterize the products obtained. LDPE and C/LDPE wastes were examined by proximate analysis, elemental analysis and TGA, and then pyrolyzed in a fixed bed reactor at different temperatures (400-600-800 ℃) and different heating rates (5-10-20 ℃/min). Afterwards, the wastes were pyrolyzed at 600 °C and 20 °C/min heating rate with zeolite catalysis and the effect of the catalyst on the liquid product was evaluated. GC-MS, FT-IR and 1H-NMR analyzes of the pyrolytic liquid products and commercial waxes were performed to determine the potential of the obtained liquid product to be used as a wax. According to the results, the product obtained from waste C/LDPE is similar to commercial heavy wax.
