The present study evaluated the psychometric properties of a self-report scale for assessing Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) symptoms according to the DSM–5 and ICD–11 among 3270 college/university students (2095 [64.1%] females; age mean 21.6 [3.1] years) from different countries worldwide. Croatian, English, Polish, Portuguese, Serbian, Turkish, and Vietnamese versions of the scale were tested. The study showed that symptoms of IGD could be measured as a single underlying factor among college/university students. A nine item symptom scale following DSM–5, and a short four-item scale representing the main ICD–11 symptoms, had sound internal consistency and construct validity. Three symptom-items were found non-invariant across the language samples (i.e., preoccupation with on-line gaming, loss of interests in previous hobbies and entertainment, and the use of gaming to relieve negative moods). This study provides initial evidence for assessing IGD symptoms among college/university students and will hopefully foster further research into gaming addiction in this population worldwide especially with taking into account language/cultural differences. Background and Objectives: Locus of control (LOC) is a modifiable mediator of symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among traumatized individuals and a potential target of intervention. Compared with studies involving adults, the potential mediation effect of LOC on PTSD symptoms among trauma-exposed children and adolescents is relatively under-explored. This study, therefore, assessed the mediation effects of LOC on the association between lifetime cumulative trauma and PTSD symptoms among a large cohort of adolescents from different cultural background. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: LOC was determined using the Multi- Dimension Locus of Control Scale ; Posttraumatic stress symptoms using the UCLA PTSD Reaction Index ; and other significant negative life events using the Life Events Checklist. Diabetes mellitus (DM) and mental health problems are frequently co-occurring conditions. Anxiety and depressive disorders are the most common mental disorders that accompany DM. These conditions could have severe consequences in children and adolescents suffering from DM. Thus, it is important to pay additional attention to them. This article provides an overview of prevalence rates of DM and co- occurring anxiety and depression, as well as understandings in etiological characteristics and treatment options for anxiety and depressive disorders in children and adolescents with DM.

S obzirom da su neposredno uključeni u proces stvaranja usluge, klijenti se smatraju dijelom ljudskih potencijala uslužne organizacije. Njihova se uključenost u proces usluge može promatrati kroz ponašanje klijenata unutar, ali i izvan njihove uloge. Ova potonja, tzv. odgovorna organizacijska ponašanja klijenata, su dobrovoljna i nadilaze zahtjeve uloge klijenta pri pružanju usluge. Ona uključuju priznanja uslužnim djelatnicima, preporuke drugima, pa čak i konstruktivne prijedloge za poboljšanje kvalitete usluge i tako stvaraju poželjno okruženje za sve dionike unutar uslužne organizacije. Posebno su vrijedna jer imaju pozitivan učinak na radnu uspješnost uslužnih djelatnika te podržavaju razvoj kvalitete i profesionalnosti usluge. No, mogu li pružatelji usluga i sami potaknuti odgovorna organizacijska ponašanja svojih klijenata? U visokoškolskim institucijama nastavnici pružaju uslugu studentima. Namjera je ovog rada provjeriti ulogu doživljaja studenata o interpersonalnoj pravednosti njihovih nastavnika u odgovornim organizacijskim ponašanjima studenata prema nastavnicima. U tu svrhu provedena su dva istraživanja. Najprije su anketnim upitnikom (papir-olovka) prikupljeni podaci od ukupno 1513 studenata Filozofskog fakulteta u Osijeku i Filozofskog fakulteta u Rijeci. Potom su (online) istraživanjem prikupljeni i podaci od ukupno 1108 studenata različitih sveučilišnih sastavnica i veleučilišta iz dvanaest hrvatskih gradova. Rezultati oba istraživanja dosljedno pokazuju da doživljaj interpersonalne pravednosti nastavnika, odnosno tretiranje studenata s poštovanjem i uvažavanjem, neposredno pozitivno doprinosi učestalosti odgovornih organizacijskih ponašanja studenata prema nastavnicima. Također, interpersonalna pravednost nastavnika i posredno, putem povjerenja studenata u nastavnike, povećava njihovo odgovorno organizacijsko ponašanje. Drugim riječima, studenti koji svoje nastavnike doživljavaju interpersonalno pravednima, su skloniji poželjno se ponašati prema njima, djelomice i zato što im i više vjeruju. Uz teorijske, raspravlja se i o praktičnim implikacijama rezultata, odnosno o načinima na koje je moguće potaknuti doživljaj interpersonalne pravednosti, a time i učestalost odgovornih organizacijskih ponašanja u akademskom kontekstu.

This study aimed to translate the ESSENCE-Q into south Slavic languages, namely, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Macedonian, Montenegrin, Serbian, and Slovenian, and to evaluate its psychometric properties for screening purposes in clinical settings. Patients and methods: In the study, the ESSENCE-Q was completed for 251 “typically developing” children and 200 children with 1 or more diagnosed NDDs, all aged 1–6 years. Internal consistency and construct validity were tested first, followed by generating receiver operating characteristic curves and the area under the curve. Optimal cutoff values were then explored. Results: The Cronbach’s α coefficients were 0.91, 0.88, and 0.86 for ESSENCE-Q parent-completed form, and the telephone and direct interview forms administered by trained nurse or specialist, respectively. The 3 versions produced area under the curve values (95% confidence interval): 0.96 (0.93–0.99), 0.91 (0.86–0.95), and 0.91 (0.86–0.97), respectively. An optimal cutoff for ESSENCE-Q parent-completed form was found to be ≥3 points, while for the telephone and direct interviews, it was ≥5 points. Conclusion: We found adequate measurement properties of the south Slavic languages versions of the ESSENCE-Q as a screener for NDDs in clinical settings. 12. Hoćemo li se (i zašto) više truditi kada smo pravedno tretirani? Eksperimentalni pristup istraživanju učinaka organizacijske pravednosti

Organizacijska je pravednost stupanj u kojem pojedinac doživljava da su radni ishodi, postupci i odnosi fer. Korelacijska istraživanja uglavnom pokazuju da je doživljaj pravednog tretmana pozitivno povezan s poželjnim oblicima radnog i organizacijskog ponašanja, no eksperimentalne provjere učinaka organizacijske pravednosti relativno su rijetke. U ovom se radu prikazuju rezultati dvije eksperimentalne studije koje provjeravaju učinke doživljaja pravednosti u akademskom kontekstu. U prvom su eksperimentu studenti Filozofskoga fakulteta u Rijeci (N=89) rješavali dva bloka anagramskih zadataka, pri čemu je proceduralna pravednost manipulirana načinom bodovanja zadataka. Rezultati su pokazali da su ispitanici koji su bili tretirani nepravedno povećali svoj trud nakon doživljene nepravde, dok su se oni koji su bili tretirani pravedno u drugom bloku zadataka jednako trudili. Dakle, proceduralna nepravednost je, suprotno očekivanom, dovela do poboljšanja učinkovitosti u rješavanju zadataka. Kako bi objasnili dobivene rezultate, proveli smo drugi eksperiment s ciljem provjere učinaka proceduralne pravednosti na trud studenata u realnijoj situaciji. Istraživanje je provedeno na studentima psihologije Filozofskog fakulteta u Rijeci i Osijeku (N=210). Osmišljen je scenarij koji opisuje pohađanje kolegija iz metodološke skupine predmeta. Kao i u prvom istraživanju, proceduralna je pravednost manipulirana načinom bodovanja kolokvija, a u oba je uvjeta manipulirana i ocjena koja je dobivena u prvom kolokviju. Hipoteza proizašla iz prve eksperimentalne provjere jest da će se ispitanici, unatoč nepravednom tretmanu, više truditi, ukoliko i dalje imaju mogućnost ostvariti najbolji ishod. Nakon manipulacije proceduralnom i distributivnom pravednošću, uslijedila su pitanja oko doživljene pravednosti i truda u pripremi za drugi kolokvij. Rezultati su pokazali da će kvaliteta truda sudionika ovisiti o pravednosti postupka, ali i o mogućnosti ostvarivanja najpovoljnijeg ishoda. Raspravlja se o mogućim teorijskim objašnjenjima dobivenih nalaza te o mogućim prednostima, ali i nedostacima i rizicima eksperimentalnog pristupa u istraživanju učinaka organizacijske pravednosti.

Učinci mentalnog zdravlja na subjektivnu kvalitetu života dobro su potvrđeni u literaturi, a dosadašnja istraživanja konzistentno pokazuju da na mentalno zdravlje utječu različiti čimbenici, poput bioloških, razvojnih i socijalnih. No, unatoč dosadašnjim spoznajama, zanimanje istraživača za rizične faktore mentalnog zdravlja ne jenjava. Oni se sve više ispituju i u radnom okruženju, gdje je jedan od najvažnijih psihosocijalnih čimbenika koji predviđaju mentalno zdravlje i kvalitetu života organizacijska pravednost. Ona se odnosi na ukupni doživljaj zaposlenika o tome koliko je pravedno tretiran na radnom mjestu. U posljednje vrijeme istraživači razlikuju izvore pravednosti, među kojima se ističu nadređeni i suradnici. Istraživanja potvrđuju da pravednost nadređenih i suradnika utječe na mentalno zdravlje zaposlenika te na kvalitetu njihova života. Slično kao i u radnom okruženju, iako još uvijek rijetka, istraživanja u akademskom kontekstu potvrđuju navedene učinke pravednosti. Naime, psihička dobrobit studenata (kao i zaposlenika), pod utjecajem je pravednosti nastavnika (nadređenih) i pravednosti kolega na studiju (suradnika). Cilj je ovog istraživanja bio ispitati medijacijski utjecaj mentalnog zdravlja na odnos pravednog tretmana od strane nastavnika i suradnika te zadovoljstva kvalitetom života studenata. Istraživanje je provedeno na 477 studenata Sveučilišta u Rijeci i Osijeku. Sudionici su ispunili online upitnik o doživljaju pravednosti na studiju, prisutnosti kliničkih simptoma anksioznosti i depresivnosti te zadovoljstva kvalitetom života. Rezultati su pokazali da su cjelokupni pravedan tretman od strane nastavnika i interpersonalno pravedan tretman od strane kolega direktno povezani s većim zadovoljstvom kvalitetom života studenata. Nadalje, pravedan tretman od strane nastavnika i kolega pokazao se povezanim s manje simptoma anksioznosti i depresivnosti, što je indirektno opet povezano s većim zadovoljstvom kvalitetom života. Ovi nalazi ukazuju na važnost pravednosti na studiju. Pravedni kriteriji i postupci ocjenjivanja, uljudan način ophođenja te uvažavanje studenata od strane nastavnika utječe na njihovo mentalno zdravlje i na kvalitetu njihova života. Stoga bi bilo poželjno da nastavnici budu svjesni posljedica nepravednog odnosa prema studentima, kao i svoje uloge u poticanju pravedne interakcije među studentima.

Organizacijska se pravednost definira kao percepcija zaposlenika o stupnju u kojem su tretirani pravedno od strane drugih. Zaposlenici su u mogućnosti razlikovati različite vrste pravednosti: pravednost postupaka u donošenju odluka (proceduralna pravednost), pravednost raspodjele ishoda (distributivna pravednost) te pravednost u interakciji (interpersonalna pravednost). Istraživanja pokazuju da organizacijska pravednost utječe na zadovoljstvo i kvalitetu na radnome mjestu. Organizacijska se pravednost može preslikati na akademski kontekst, gdje se govori o pravednosti na studiju. Kao i u organizacijama, studenti doživljavaju pravedan tretman od strane različitih izvora, točnije proceduralno, distributivno i interpersonalno (ne)pravedan tretman od strane profesora te interpersonalno (ne)pravedan tretman od strane suradnika. Istraživanja u području pravednosti na studiju tek su u svojim začecima. Studija provedena na hrvatskim studentima pokazala je da nepravedan tretman utječe na mentalno zdravlje i na zadovoljstvo kvalitetom života mladih. No, unatoč rastućem broju istraživanja, izostaju kulturalne usporedbe doživljaja pravednosti. Upravo je cilj ovog istraživanja ispitati kulturalne razlike u doživljaju pravednosti i kvaliteti života studenata, te provjeriti je li utjecaj pravednog tretmana na kvalitetu života kulturalno univerzalan. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 1033 ispitanika, odnosno 479 studenata iz Hrvatske, 167 studenata iz Srbije, 196 studenata iz Indije, te 160 studenata iz Ujedinjenih Arapskih Emirata. Jednosmjernim analizama varijance utvrđeno je da postoje razlike između zemalja u doživljaju proceduralne, distributivne i interpersonalne pravednosti nastavnika, interpersonalne pravednosti suradnika te zadovoljstva kvalitetom života. Doživljaj proceduralne i distributivne pravednosti nastavnika najveći je u Hrvatskoj u odnosu na ostale zemlje. Doživljaj interpersonalne pravednosti nastavnika najveći je u Ujedinjenim Arapskim Emiratima. Doživljaj interpersonalne pravednosti suradnika najveći je u Hrvatskoj te Srbiji, dok je zadovoljstvo kvalitetom života najveće u Srbiji i Hrvatskoj. U svim zemljama interpersonalno pravedan tretman od strane suradnika pokazao se značajnim prediktorom zadovoljstva kvalitetom života. No, samo je među hrvatskim studentima ukupan pravedan tretman od strane nastavnika značajan prediktor zadovoljstva kvalitetom života. Raspravlja se o mogućim kontekstualnim faktorima koji utječu na doživljaj pravednosti i kvalitetu života.

15. Interpersonal justice and prosocial behavior in customer service: The mediating role of psychological empowerment

In addition to formally prescribed behaviors, providing customer service consists of voluntary prosocial behaviors. These are defined as helpful behaviors of employees, intended to promote the prosperity of the source at which they are directed. Such prosocial behaviors in the service industry are generally aimed towards customers and coworkers. The former is defined as extra-role customer service, which comprises employees’ discretionary behaviors in providing service that expand beyond formal requirements. The latter addresses coworker-oriented cooperation defined as employees’ helpful behaviors towards other members of their workgroup. The involvement in such prosocial service behavior is under the influence of interpersonal justice, defined as one’s perception of others treating him or her in a polite and respectful manner. Research shows that fair treatment from customers and peers triggers positive prosocial behaviors directed back at the source of justice. Fair treatment from others is also shown to influence employees’ psychological empowerment, which reflects how employees see themselves in the work environment and how they feel that they can shape their work roles. The aim of this study was to explore the mediation effect of psychological empowerment on the relationship between interpersonal justice stemming from various sources and prosocial service behavior targeting those sources. The model was tested on a large sample of pharmacists. Results showed that interpersonal peer justice indirectly, through psychological empowerment, predicts coworker- oriented cooperation. Also, interpersonal client justice predicts customer-oriented extra-role behaviors, both directly and indirectly - through psychological empowerment. The theoretical and practical implications of research findings are discussed.

Purpose: The Early Symptomatic Syndromes Eliciting Neurodevelopmental Clinical Examinations - Questionnaire (ESSENCE-Q) was developed as a brief screener to identify children with developmental concerns who might have neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs). This study aimed to translate the ESSENCE-Q into south Slavic languages, namely, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Macedonian, Montenegrin, Serbian, and Slovenian, and to evaluate its psychometric properties for screening purposes in clinical settings., Patients and Methods: In the study, the ESSENCE-Q was completed for 251 "typically developing" children and 200 children with 1 or more diagnosed NDDs, all aged 1-6 years. Internal consistency and construct validity were tested first, followed by generating receiver operating characteristic curves and the area under the curve. Optimal cutoff values were then explored., Results: The Cronbach's α coefficients were 0.91, 0.88, and 0.86 for ESSENCE-Q parent-completed form, and the telephone and direct interview forms administered by trained nurse or specialist, respectively. The 3 versions produced area under the curve values (95% confidence interval): 0.96 (0.93-0.99), 0.91 (0.86-0.95), and 0.91 (0.86-0.97), respectively. An optimal cutoff for ESSENCE-Q parent-completed form was found to be ≥3 points, while for the telephone and direct interviews, it was ≥5 points., Conclusion: We found adequate measurement properties of the south Slavic languages versions of the ESSENCE-Q as a screener for NDDs in clinical settings.
