Polar Earth Orbit (PEO) is a peculiar orbit where energetic auroral electrons and low-temperature ionospheric plasma coexist. There is a risk of charging and subsequent arcing in PEO, which was demonstrated unfortunately by the total loss of ADEOS-2 (ADvanced Earth Observing Satellite-2: Midori-2) satellite in 2003. Charging in PEO must be properly assessed in the early satellite design phase by a spacecraft charging analysis tool. The plasma environment, namely its density and energy, is the crucial parameter for the spacecraft charging analysis. The balance between the auroral electrons and the low temperature ionospheric ions determine the charging potential of a PEO satellite. We statistically analyzed the environmental condition in PEO using the data of auroral electrons and thermal ions measured by DMSP (Defense Meteorological Satellite Program) satellites. Probability of a given combination of current densities of auroral electrons and thermal ions has been derived. The energy spectrum of the auroral electrons are also classified into several types and correlation with the thermal ions is analyzed. The free shear layer is suitable for understanding the basic mechanism of randomization. Sound from a loud-speaker was used for introducing ordered velocity fluctuation in the layer. Three kinds of shear layer were tested and compared. A quantitative expression of the degree of randomness was accomplished by the elementary-wave analysis. The concept of neighbor randomness was introduced for another way of describing randomization. 本収録ではSuzaku(すざく: ASTRO-E2: X-ray Astronomy Satellite)によるRCW86北東shellの観測結果を報告する。イメージングおよびスペクトル解析によって、この領域からのX線を低温(〜0.3keV)および高温(〜1.8keV)のthin-thermal Plasmaと、シンクロトロン放射成分に分離、それぞれ分布が異なることを明らかにした。高温成分は低階電離の鉄を多量に含み、熱的filament(低温成分)よりSNR(SuperNova Remnant)の内側に強く分布する。また、シンクロトロンX線とは全く相関がなかった。これらの事実は高温成分の起源が逆行衝撃波によって加熱されたFe-richなイジェクタであることを強く示唆する。RCW86の北東領域では1部が比較的最近になって分子雲などの高密な領域に衝突し、順行衝撃波が一気に減速したと考えられる。その結果、宇宙線加速効率が急激に低下し、同時に逆行衝撃波が減速もしくはSNRの中心に向かって後退し始めたのであろう。これに対し、シンクロトロン放射が強い領域は未だ密度の小さい空間中を高速で膨張しており、効率的に宇宙線を加速し続けていると解釈できる。, 資料番号: AA0063722003

Puppis A超新星残骸ほぼ全体をカバーするXMM(X-ray Multi-Mirror)-Newtonによる5点の観測結果について報告する。我々は、O、Ne、Mg、Si、S、Fe元素について、等価幅分布図を作成した。その結果、Fe以外の元素については爆発噴出物の痕跡を残す領域を見つけた。一方で、Feについては至るところ、等価幅が小さいことが判った。O、Neの全体的な等価幅分布の構造は似通っており、X線放射強度の弱い南部で等価幅が大きいことが判った。これは、SNR(SuperNova Remnant)南部では星間物質の密度が低く爆発噴出物の影響が露になっているためと考えられる。SiとSの等価幅分布図はお互いに似通っており、北東部分でのみ爆発噴出物の痕跡を発見した。SNR全体的な構造に加えて、北東領域に爆発噴出物の塊を見付けた。更にその輝線がドップラーシフトしており、高速でこちらに向かって飛んでいることを発見した。, 資料番号: AA0063722002

ガンマ線バーストに付随する超新星は、その可視光放射の特徴から、1次元球対称の仮定の下では、通常のIc型超新星より重い超新星エジェクタ(〜10太陽質量)が、より大きな運動エネルギー(〜50×10(exp 51)erg)をもって爆発していると考えられてきていた。我々は超新星における多次元輻射輸送コードを開発し、ジェット状爆発モデルの放射を詳細に計算することで、観測との直接比較を可能にした。その結果、ガンマ線バーストに付随した超新星SN 1998bwの特徴が、〜20×10(exp 51)ergの運動エネルギーをもつジェット状爆発を軸の方向から観測した場合の特徴と一致し、球対称モデルでは説明できなかった観測的事実がすべて説明されることが明らかになった。, 資料番号: AA0063722001

The interaction between a, columnar vortex and external turbulence is investigated numerically. As the columnar vortex, the Lamb-Oseen vortex is used. The columnar vortex is immersed in an initially isotropic homogeneous turbulence field, which itself is product by a direct numerical simulation of decaying turbulence. Statistical quantities, such as two-point-energy-spectra and two-point-enstrophy-spectra, are evaluated and compared with the theoretical prediction theory (RDT). The axial velocity correlation dominates near the vortex surface, whereas the radial velocity correlation becomes lager where the worms are wrapped. 本報告は、1995年から1999年にかけて行われた10機の長時間気球に搭載したエマルションチェンバーによって観測された宇宙線のエネルギースペクトルと化学組成を報告している。この気球観測実験での全露出量は575平方メートルhr、平均高度は32kmであった。我々は、10〜1,000 TeV/particleの高エネルギー領域での陽子、ヘリウム核およびCNO核グループ、NeMgSi核グループ、Fe核グループのエネルギースペクトルについての最終解析結果を示す。加えて、2次核/1次核比、全粒子スペクトル、1次宇宙線の平均質量数についても合わせて報告する。我々の陽子の結果は他の観測結果とよい一致を示しているが、ヘリウム核については、JACEEやSOKOLで得られた強度の約半分であった。これら2つの成分のスペクトルの傾きは、10〜500 TbV/nucleonの領域でほぼ平行で、そのべきは2.7〜2.8乗である。重粒子成分のスペクトルは、CRNグループによって得られた低エネルギー領域でのスペクトルの延長線上にあり、エネルギーとともに強度を単調に減少している。LiBeBやsub-Feグループによる、2次核/1次核比はTeV/nucleon領域のデータを報告している。全粒子スペクトルと平均質量数については、20〜1,000 TeV/particle領域をカバーしているRUNJOBの全粒子スペクトルはJACEEやSOKOLに比べ、40％〜50％程度低い強度を与え、平均質量数は1PeVまでほぼ一定のままである。, This is a full report on the cosmic-ray spectra and composition obtained by the emulsion chambers on board 10 long-duration balloons, launched from Kamchatka between 1995 and 1999. The total exposure of these campaigns amounts to 575 sq m hr, with an average flight altitude of 32 km. We present final results on the energy spectra of two light elements, protons and helium nuclei, and on those of three heavy-element groups, CNO, NeMgSi, and Fe, covering the very high energy region of 10 to 1,000 TeV/particle. We additionally present the secondary/primary ratio, the all-particle spectrum, and the average mass of the primary cosmic rays. We find that our proton spectrum is in good agreement with other results, but the intensity of the helium component is nearly half that obtained by JACEE and SOKOL. The slopes of the spectra of these two elements obtained from RUNJOB data are almost parallel, with values of 2.7 to 2.8 in the energy range of 10 to 500 TeV/nucleon. RUNJOB heavy-component spectra are in agreement with the extrapolation from those at lower energies obtained by CRN (Chicago group), monotonically decreasing with energy. We have also observed secondary components, such as the LiBeB group and the sub-Fe group, and present the secondary/primary ratio in the TeV/nucleon region. We determine the all-particle spectrum and the average mass of the primary cosmic rays in the energy region of 20 to 1,000 TeV/particle. 地球磁気圏において1keVから100keVの電子は中エネルギー電子と呼ばれ、電子の加速加熱メカニズムを知る上で重要である。しかし技術的に数keVから数10keVの電子はギャップ領域になっており、正確な計測を行うことは困難であった。我々はアバランシェ・フォトダイオード(APD: Avalanche Photodiode)という素子に着目して、中エネルギー電子の計測が高精度で行えることを示した。また、JAXAの観測ロケットS-310-35号機によってAPD素子の宇宙空間での実証実験を行い、3.5-65keVの電子の計測に成功した。, 資料番号: AA0063353048

CALETによる電子観測(鳥居2005)のうち、数十GeV以下の低エネルギー領域の観測から期待される成果について述べる。この領域の観測は、気球や衛星により過去数多く行われているが、太陽磁気圏内の宇宙線連続観測はいずれも数GeV以下が主体で、それ以上のエネルギーではデータはほとんど存在せず観測精度も不十分である。従来1次宇宙線の観測は10GeV以上の高エネルギーになるとその影響をほとんど受けないとされてきたが、実際はそのような長期変動の観測値がないため議論の対象になってこなかったという面がある。CALETでは1GeV以上のスペクトル観測を精度良く観測可能であり、電子スペクトルの変動を長期間観測(3年間)することにより、太陽磁気圏の構造の解明や太陽活動の宇宙線観測に与える影響を調べることができると考えている。具体的な目的としては、長期変動の観測から太陽磁気圏における宇宙線の伝播モデルの検証を行う。また、フォーブッシュ減少のような短期変動もあわせて観測し、その原因と構造の解明を行い、これらの長期変動と短期変動の関連性についても調べる予定である。次に、CALETにより2010年以降、電子スペクトルの長期変動と短期変動の観測を行った場合に期待できる成果について報告する。, 資料番号: AA0049122064

宇宙の構造や個々の天体現象の総合的理解のためには、電磁波(可視光、赤外、X線など)の観測だけでなく非熱的なプロセスでつくられる高エネルギー現象の解明が不可欠である。その代表である高エネルギー宇宙電子線やγ線は、フラックスが少ないことやノイズの除去が難しいことから、大型かつ高精度な観測装置が不可欠のため、これまでの観測は極めて不十分で、まだその成因すら未解決な部分が多い。特に100GeV以上の領域では、ほとんど観測が行われていないといえる。本計画では、これらの観測の実現により、宇宙物理学における重要課題である宇宙線源の同定、加速、伝播機構の解明、各種の天体におけるγ線放射機構の解明に加えて、電子、γ線の観測により暗黒物質の探索を行う。我々は、このようにして高エネルギー宇宙の未知な姿を包括的に明らかにする目的で、日本宇宙フォーラム(JSF)が実施する「宇宙環境利用に関する地上公募研究(フェーズ1A)」により、2期6年間にわたって、国際宇宙ステーション(ISS)の日本実験モジュール(JEM)曝露部に設置する高エネルギー電子・ガンマ線観測装置(CALET:CALorimetric Electron Telescope)の開発を行ってきた。その結果、要素技術開発に加えて、ISS/JEMへの搭載適合性を含む概念設計を成功裏に終了し、次のフェーズに移る段階に達している。本稿では、観測内容と装置概念設計の成果、および今後の展望について概説する。, 資料番号: AA0049122063

RUNJOBは、1次宇宙線の化学組成とエネルギーの測定を目的として、1995年より日本ロシアの共同研究として始まった。現在まで4回の気球キャンペーンを行い、11機の気球の放球を行い、10機で観測の成功を収めた。解析もほぼ終了の時期に近づいている。この段階で、これまでの共同研究を振り返り、特徴的なことや課題などを考えてみる。ここに示すことは、共同研究全体の意見をまとめたものではなく、個人的な意見や評価が含まれていることを前もって申し上げておく。, RUssia-Nippon JOint Balloon experiment (RUNJOB) started in 1995 to measure the chemical compositions and energy spectra of the primary cosmic rays. There were 4 balloon campaigns till 1999 and 11 balloons were launched, out of which 10 balloons were successfully recovered with more than 130 hour flight time. This collaboration is very close to the end and the experiment will be summarized and some problems will be pointed out. 宇宙線の1次陽子のスペクトルは大気中の宇宙線現象を理解する上できわめて大切な量であり、これまで多くの観測が行われてきた。最近では、ニュートリノ振動の詳しい解析のために大気中で発生するニュートリノの絶対値の推定に必要であり、1次宇宙線のスペクトルの精密観測に対して多くの関心がもたれるようになってきた。宇宙線中の高エネルギー電子のエマルション・チェンバーによる観測は1968年から1998年にわたって13回の気球観測で行なわれてきた。このエマルション・チェンバーでは電子の観測と同時に大気中で発生するガンマ線についても詳しく観測を行って来ている。ガンマ線の観測に使用した全有効露出量は6.46m(sup 2)-sr-dayで、30GeVから10TeVの範囲で大気ガンマ線エネルギースペクトルを得ることに成功している。大気ガンマ線の観測は1次電子の大気効果補正に重要であると同時に、1次宇宙線の絶対強度や上空のミューオンスペクトルの推定を行うことが出来る。この論文では、観測されたガンマ線強度から核相互作用モデルとしてFritiof-ver7.02を仮定して、他の観測器では測定が難しい300GeVから30TeVにいたる1次陽子のスペクトルを導き出し、また100GeV領域におけるミューオン強度を推定した結果について報告する。, Primary cosmic-ray proton spectrum is one of the most important quantities to interpret cosmic-ray phenomena inside the atmosphere. Recently proton measurements are attracted more attentions to estimate the absolute flux of atmospheric neutrinos which is important to make more precise analysis of the neutrino oscillations being performed with Super-Kamiokande. Similar attention is also paid to the observations of the absolute flux of muons which are the partners of neutrinos. Atmospheric gamma-ray spectra from 30 GeV to 10 TeV have been observed with total exposure of 6.46 m(sup 2) sr day using emulsion chambers at balloon altitude. Atmospheric gamma rays at high altitude of several g/cm(sup 2) are almost produced by a single interaction of primary cosmic rays, and useful to estimate the primary proton flux and to interpret the various cosmic-ray phenomena inside the atmosphere. Using the atmospheric gamma-ray spectra, primary proton spectrum in the energy range of 300 GeV to 30 TeV was deduced, assuming an appropriate hadronic interaction model. This spectrum fills a gap in the currently observed proton spectra. Since charged pions are produced almost two times of neutral pions, the muon flux can also be deduced at high altitude from the gamma-ray spectra without referring to the primary cosmic-ray flux or hadronic interaction models. X線天体のエネルギースペクトル中に見られる、鉄による構造(吸収線、吸収端、幅の広い輝線)の観測に特化した小型衛星を提案する。X線CCDを約600枚並べ、コリメータで視野を制限することで、「あすか」SIS並みのエネルギー分解能(6keVで2.5％)を持ち、「ぎんが」を超える有効面積(5,000cm(sup 2))を持つX線衛星を実現する。これほど大きな有効面積と高いエネルギー分解能を同時に達成できるX線衛星はこれまでなく、実現できれば、鉄のスペクトル構造の観測によるX線天体の研究を飛躍的に発展させられると期待される。, 資料番号: AA0045441101

Energy dissipation rate in geostrophic turbulence is theoretically estimated， based on the assumption that the energy dissipated in this system is equal to the energy transported to the large wavenumber region． In the theory of dynamic scaling laws for the geostrophic turbulence developed by Watanabe et al．（1998）， the energy dissipation rate was left unknown and empirically determined；the estimation in this study complements their theory． Through this estimation， the means to determine the appropriate artificial coefficient of the hyperviscosity used in the numerical simulation is also determined． The numerical calculation using this determined value successfully derived the energy spectrum which follows the theoretically expected scaling laws．

CALET(CALorimetric Electron Telescope)は全吸収型カロリメータ(TASC: Total Absorption Calorimeter)を用いることにより、1次宇宙線中の電子・ガンマ線のみならず陽子・原子核成分の観測も行えるように設計されている。TASCは陽子に対して1.6平均自由行程の厚さを有しており、陽子・原子核成分のエネルギーを1,000TeVまで測定可能である。スペースステーションでの3年間の観測により次の成果が期待される。(1)1TeVから1,000TeV領域で、陽子から鉄にいたる1次宇宙線化学組成を明らかにする。各成分の絶対強度とスペクトル指数の変化の様子を高い統計精度で得ることができ、これらの結果は宇宙線加速モデルの検証に繋がる。1TeV/n以上の陽子イベント70万例、鉄イベントが300例以上観測されると期待される。(2)宇宙線1次核と2次核の比(B/Cとsub-Fe/Fe)を10GeV/nから数TeV/nのエネルギー領域で求め、宇宙線伝播モデルにとって重要な基礎データを提供する。このエネルギー領域では残留大気補正を必要としないスペースステーションにおける観測が有利であり、信頼度の高い結果を得ることができる。これらの観測結果は宇宙線の起源、加速機構、伝播モデルを確立するための重要な手掛かりを提供する。, 資料番号: AA0063353031

スクリーン型X線フイルムを用いた新しいタイプのエマルション・チェンバーを大気球に搭載して重一次宇宙線の観測を行った。露出面積, 露出時間および高度はそれぞれ1.22m^2,15.8h, 8.9g/cm^2である。この気球は飛行中も常に一定の方位を保つようにΔφ=0.5°以内の精度で方向規正されている。これにより, チェンバー内に降り注いでくる一次宇宙線の到来方向を測定できるので, 東西効果を用いて数GeV/nucleonから∿15GeV/nucleonのエネルギー領域でエネルギースペクトルを化学組成別に求めることができる。また, Si核より重い核についてはopening-angle法を用いて得られた5∿1000GeV/nucleonのエネルギー領域におけるエネルギースペクトルも紹介する。前者によって得られたエネルギースペクトルは後者によるものと極めて滑らかに接続しており, これはopening-angle法を用いたエネルギー決定法が信頼できるものであることを意味している。また, 今回の観測における解析結果を前回の観測のものと比較してみると, Fe核については非常に良い一致が見られ, 微分型スペクトルの"べき"は数TeV/nucleonまで∿2.5の一定値が得られた。一方Si核については, 今回の観測では10∿1000GeV/nucleonの範囲で"べき"は∿2.7であり, 前回の∿2.9と比べるとゆるやかな傾きになっている。さらに, sub-Fe核のfluxとFe核に対するそのabundance ratioも報告する。[Z=21-25]/Fe abundance ratioは, ∿100GeV/nucleon以上のエネルギー領域で前回の観測結果よりわずかに減少しているのがわかる。, We have exposed an emulsion chamber with the area of 1.22m^2 on board the balloon at an atmospheric depth of 8.9g/cm^2 for 15.8h, which has been azimuthally controlled within the accuracy of Δφ=0.5°. With use of the east-west asymmetry effect of arriving cosmic-ray primaries, we can obtain the energy spectra for individual elements in the kinetic energy range from a few GeV/nucleon up to∿15GeV/nucleon. We present also the energy spectra obtained by the opening-angle method for the higher energy region, 5∿1000GeV/nucleon, for the elements not lighter than silicon. We find that the energy spectra obtained by the former method continue smoothly to those obtained by the latter, indicating that the energy determination using the opening-angle method is performed correctly. We compare also the present results with those obtained by the previous work. We find that the iron flux is in nice agreement with that obtained by the previous observation, the differential spectral index being constant, ∿2.5,up to a few TeV/nucleon, while in the case of silicon component, it is ∿2.7 for 10∿1000GeV/nucleon in this work, significantly harder than the previous one, ∿2.9. We also report the flux of the sub-iron component and its abundance ratio to the iron component. We find the abundance ratio of [Z=21-25]/iron is slightly less than those obtained previously in the higher energy region, ≳100GeV/nucleon., 資料番号: SA0167085000

航空宇宙技術研究所 6-7 JUN. 1996 東京 日本, National Aerospace Laboratory 6-7 JUN. 1996 Tokyo Japan, 減衰等方性乱流の直接数値シミュレーション(DNS)をNALの数値風洞(NWT)を用いて実施した。空間格子点を512(exp 3)点使いDNSによって、十分に発達した乱流とパッシブスカラー場を作った。流れの数値解析と可視化によって、乱流渦度の高い部分が初期段階ではシート状領域に集中すること、次いで、そのシートが巻き上り最終的にwormと呼ばれる管状渦を形成することが明らかになった。その渦管は低渦度領域でも観測できた。温度勾配の大きい部分もシート状領域に集中し、渦度とは対照的にシート状領域は不変のまま維持されることが分かった。, The Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) of an isotropic turbulence decaying is performed using the NAL Numerical Wind Tunnel (NWT). The fully-developed turbulent flow and the passive scalar field are obtained through the DNS with 512(exp 3) mesh points. The numerical analysis and visualization of the flow reveal that the intense portions of the turbulent vorticity concentrate in the sheet-like regions at the early stage. Then, the sheets roll up and finally form vortex tubes that are called worm. The tubes are also observed in the lower-vorticity regions. 28-29 Sep. 1995 (17th). 28-29 Mar. 1996 (18th), 測定胴中に熱成層発生機を持つ風洞の中で実現した、階段状温度分布を有する強安定成層混合層における内部重力波の構造について実験的研究を行った。混合層で発達する速度および温度の変動を熱線温度流速計で測定した。これらの変動のスペクトル成分は3波共鳴条件を満たし、速度および温度変動の垂直成分間の位相差は下流領域で-π/2に近づいた。この結果、内部重力波は混合層の中で自然発生することが分かった。また、熱成層発生機の直後に直径10μmの加熱線を設けて小さな熱的擾乱を与え、内部重力波の遷移過程を制御することも試みた。スペクトル成分のエネルギー密度レベルは混合層で下流方向に急激に増加し、内部重力波の遷移過程の制御が本法により可能であることを確認した。, Structure of internal gravity wave was experimentally studied in a strongly stably-stratified mixing layer with stepwise temperature distribution realized in a wind tunnel with a thermal stratification generator in its settling chamber. Velocity and temperature fluctuations developed in the mixing layer were measured by a hotwire thermo-anemometer. Spectral components of these fluctuations satisfied the requirement for three-wave resonant interaction and the phase difference between the vertical component of the velocity fluctuation and the temperature fluctuation approached -pi/2 in the downstream region. These facts show that internal gravity waves are spontaneously generated in the mixing layer. It was also attempted to control the transition process of the internal gravity wave by giving a small thermal disturbance by installing a heated wire of 10 micrometer in diameter just behind the thermal stratification generator. 28-29 Sep. 1995 (17th). 28-29 Mar. 1996 (18th), R(sub λ)=80〜393の乱流場の統計的性質を実験的に調べた。乱流強度、エネルギースペクトル、および速度変動のPDF(確率密度分布)を求め、非等方テンソルスペクトルを導いた。乱流エネルギーと非等方テンソルの不変量Πとの関係は、等方化過程が、乱流の自己相似性に達する下流域で、減衰過程へと移行することを示した。l(sub D)を最大散逸渦スケール、l(sub G)を最大等方乱流渦スケールとしたとき、l(sub D)〜l(sub G)で定義した慣性小領域は、R(sub λ)=393について、1桁以上の波数領域をカバーした。減衰率および無限大極限のR(sub λ)でのKolmogorov定数についても推算した。, Statistical properties of turbulence fields of R(sub lambda) = 80-393 were experimentally examined. Turbulence intensities, energy spectrum and PDF (Probability Density Function) of velocity fluctuations were obtained and anisotropic tensor spectrum was introduced. The relation between the turbulence energy and the invariant capital pi of the anisotropic tensor showed that return to isotropy process proceeded decay process in the downstream region where the turbulence attained self similarity. The inertial subrange defined as l(sub D) of the order of l(sub G), where l(sub D) is the scale of the maximum dissipation, and l(sub G) is the scale of the largest locally isotropic eddy, covered the wavenumber range of more than one order of magnitude for R(sub lambda) = 393. The CALET mission for the ISS-JEM/EF is being proposed. Major goal of the mission is the investigation of high energy phenomena in universe by observing the electrons in 1 GeV to 10 TeV, the gamma rays in 20 MeV to 10 TeV, and the nuclei in 1 TeV to 1,000 TeV. The detector consists of an imaging calorimeter (IMC) and a total absorption calorimeter (TASC). It has a capability of the proton-rejection power of 10(exp 6) for electrons, and the geometrical factor is nearly 1 m(sup 2)sr. 本報告では、多層膜構造気球の開発に関する報告を皮切りに、微生物採集装置の開発、柔構造体の飛行性能試験、大気球を用いたソーラーセイル膜面の展開実験の報告がまとめられている。また、2003年12月から2004年1月にかけて、第45次夏期南極プロジェクトの一環として行われた南極周回気球実験の詳細な報告がなされている。この実験は、平均高度35kmにおいて、13日間にわたって行われたもので、これまでの三陸での観測総量を1桁以上超えるデータの取得に成功した。今後、こうした長期飛翔実験が、一般的なものになると、気球による宇宙観測に新しい展開が訪れるこどになろう。本報告では、こうした長時間観測の先駆けとなった日ロ共同気球実験によるエメルションチェンバーの解析によって得られた高エネルギー銀河宇宙線のエネルギースペクトルについての成果も報告されている。, 資料番号: AA0049046000, レポート番号: JAXA-RR-05-012

Extraction and traction of hierarchical vortical structures in a homogeneous isotropic turbulence are attempted. Fourier and Wavelet decompositions are applied to extract three scales, namely the large, intermediate and fine scaled structures from the flow field.
