This paper presented a mathematical program with complementarity constraints (MPCC) model to solve the absolute value equation Ax - I xI = b. Based on the new model, it applied the projected Barzilai-Borwein( BB) gradient method to solve a penalty subproblem and obtained the solution of the original problem.
