OBJECTIVE:To probe into the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine for gastric tube injection and retention enema combined with octreotide in treatment of large bowel obstruction(LBO). METHODS:94 patients with LBO admitted into Dongxiang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from Jan. 2014 to Dec. 2016 were collected and divided into control group and observation group via random number table, with 47 cases in each group. The control group was given octreotide, while the observation group was treated with traditional Chinese medicine for gastric tube injection and retention enema combined with octreotide, the therapeutic effects of two groups were compared. RESULTS:The average disappearance time of symptoms, average recovery time of bowel sound, average venting time of anus and average hospital stays of observation group were respectively (5.07±1.91),(2.61±0.99),(2.88±1.29) and (10.15±3.20) days, which was significantly shorter than those of the control group [(6.90±1.73),(3.87±1.25),(3.74±1.36) and (12.83±5.46) days], with statistically significant differences (P<0.05); the total effective rate of observation group (95.74%, 45/47) was significantly higher than that of the control group (78.72%, 37/47), with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:The efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine for gastric tube injection and retention enema combined with octreotide in treatment of LBO is remarkable, which can quickly relieve clinical symptoms, shorten therapeutic time and improve therapeutic effect, worthy of recommendation.
