常識的には反応が進行しないか抑制されると考えられる水溶液の凍結過程および巨視的な氷固相内における酸化?還元反応の例として，ヨウ化物イオン酸性水溶液の凍結によるヨウ素I2生成反応を取り上げ，その反応メカニズムを分子力学法を用いて解析した．ヨウ化物イオン酸性水溶液を用いたI2生成反応は，I?のみを溶解した酸性水溶液では，溶液条件下において100 °Cに加熱したとしても反応は起こらない．ところが，水溶液の凍結過程および巨視的な氷固相内においてI2生成反応が進行することを実験的に示した．I2生成反応は酸化剤の共存しない暗条件下において進行した．これは，水溶液の凍結過程および巨視的な氷固相内においてI? ?I ? +e? およびI ? +I ? ?I2 のような反応が促進されていることを示している．この反応メカニズムを解析するために分子力学法(Amber potential)でヨウ素2原子と水30分子の系の構造最適化を行った．初期状態は水の内部にヨウ素原子が存在する構造を仮定したが，最適化された構造は，水クラスターの表面にIがある構造となった．温度が低いとエンタルピーの寄与がエントロピーの寄与より大きくなり，水溶液系では水分子が形成する水素結合数の最大化がなされることにより，溶媒である水の結晶化が実現される．そのため，イオン等の溶質が系の外部に押し出され，I2の表面析出が促進されることが判った．/ Using molecular mechanics with amber potential, we investigated the reaction mechanism of an iodine precipitation reaction induced solute freezing process or the in macro ice solid phase of iodide ionic acidic solution. Though a redox reaction such as iodine precipitation in iodide ionic acidic solution is usually difficult to proceed even in high temperature, the reaction: I- ? I ? +e- and I ? +I ? ?I2 were processed in solute freezing process or in macro ice solid phase. As initial geometries, we took structures of I2(H2O)30 cluster where waters are surrounding two iodine atoms. Iodine atoms were located outside of water clusters in all geometries obtained by geometry optimization with Amber potential. Unfortunately, geometry optimizations by PM3 and HF/Lanl2DZ were incomplete because iodine atoms were located outside and dissociated from the water cluster. In low temperature, the contribution of enthalpy for system stabilization is bigger than that of entropy. Investigated was nucleation process of Lennard-Jones molecules by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to test homogeneous nucleation theory. Simulations were performed with 5,000 molecules under various values of supersaturation ratios (from 2 to 10) and temperatures (from 80 K to 120 K). From the simulations, obtained were size distributions of clusters which are essential for determination of the nucleation rate. The size distributions of the clusters obtained by the MD simulations were compared with the theoretical models. The comparisons show that the classical theory underestimates the cluster distributions in the temperature range of 80 to 100 K, but overestimates in 100 to 120 K. It was found that a semi-phenomenological model, which modifies the classical nucleation theory by the use of the second virial coefficient of vapor, achieves excellent agreements with MD simulations. The present results suggest that the nucleation rate can be estimated by the semi-phenomenological model for the material of Lennard-Jones type., 資料番号: AA0047898015

Dynamic structures of liquid germanium at the temperature of 1,253 K were investigated by a first-principles molecular-dynamics simulation. To investigate long-range correlation functions the MD simulation was carried out not only with a cubic cell but also with a rectangular parallelepiped cell. The dynamical structure factors of the liquid Ge are calculated theoretically and compared with the recent experimental results obtained by the inelastic x-ray scattering. The calculation is carried out by the simple purely theoretical method, i.e. by the viscoelastic theory, which is based on the effective pair potential obtained by the pseudopotential perturbation theory and the static structure factor calculated by the integral-equation theory in the modified hypernetted-chain (MHNC) approximation. For the purpose to evaluate atomic diffusive dynamics in liquid Sn the inelastic neutron scattering measurement has been carried out. The quasielastic neutron scattering in a part of the inelastic scattering results from the diffusion or structure relaxational motion. The obtained width of the quasielastic line versus momentum transfer Q deviates from Fick's law and close to the jump-diffusion model corresponding to water. As Sn is the almost coherent scatterer, this width is considered to be derived from the existence of the correlated motion of particles. 日本のものづくり現場は、プロセス中の材料の特異な非線型挙動を察知する感性と試行錯誤で得た技能という暗黙知の財産がひそんでいる。特に伝統技術は先人の優れた感性資産の宝庫である。 土と水を練る造形文化は縄文式土器に遡り、その源泉は天然資源とタイムリーな火加減である。伝統技術は劣化が少なく土に戻る環境保全型で、人類との共存が証明された見習うべき技である。 21世紀のものづくりには先人の知恵を活かし、伝承の技や道具が素材に作用して機能美を達成する機序を科学的に解明し、環境負荷を低減し生命と調和したものづくりへの転換が必要である。 本研究では、京壁の仕上げ用の鏝で、明治期の刀鍛冶製法の鍛造と伝わる旧水撫ぜ鏝を用いると、手作業の混錬で土壁組成物の流動性が向上し、塗工直後には「ノロ」と呼ばれる粘土を含む水分が表面に滲出し、乾燥後には滑らかで緻密な美観と呼吸感を持つ京壁に仕上がる現象を検証し、その作用機序を解明して最先端のものづくり技術に応用展開することを主目的としている。 このために、感性科学が役割分担して融合発展するハイブリッド工学基盤の構築を目指した。 筆者の44年間の産業現場のソリューション活動から、日本の更なる発展に求められる課題は、現場の暗黙知の相互連携と科学の活用で新たな暗黙知を獲得することにあると考えている。 第2章では、移動分析車活動から現場目線で、印刷インキ転移のミリ秒の現象を高速VTRで現場と一体化した改善活動から「動的計測」と感性との連動の必要性を示した。科学知は与えた変化を客観知とし、感性知は対象から受けた暗黙知を主観知とするところが異なる。その融合には、人間の「見る」「知る」「操る」感性に科学を沿わせ感性資産を検証し、展開することが大切である。 第3章では、可視化技術が経験知を活かす感性を高めることを論じた。科学知を活かすには、課題抽出のINPUT感性と、タイミングよく働きかけるOUTPUT感性でサンドイッチする必要がある。現場ソリューション源泉は知的ストックである。感性を高めるためには多面的に真の姿を洞察し仮説をつくる「七み」（観・見・視・診・看→察・顧）の育みの必要性を提案した。仮説がないと課題を見過ごし、失敗に落ち込んでこそ成功を確信する人間の性に科学を沿わせ発展させたい。 第4章では、伝統技術の解明と、現代のエネルギー、バイオ、環境の先端技術に欠かせない水の挙動の解明を試みた。マクロな流体力学では解けない不思議に見える特異なミルククラウン現象をモデルに、分子動力学シミュレーションで水分子に特有の界面挙動がその背景にあることを明らかにした。また水と接触したアルコールは強い分極状態になる特異な水の影響力を示した。 第5章では、暗黙知を修得する日本人の高い感性を米欧と対比して特徴付けた。多様な感性軸で構成する感性空間を提案して、試行錯誤を重ね辿り着く成功空間を感性ウィンドウと名付け、感性知と科学知が相補的に役割分担して協働するハイブリッド工学モデルを構想した。 第6章では、京壁の旧水撫ぜ鏝による混錬効果に、流動性の高速度VTR観察、機械的流動性評価、低真空走査型電子顕微鏡観察、X線回折分析、水分の誘電緩和スペクトル測定、鏝材質の蛍光X線分析、磁気特性測定などを実施し客観的検証を得た。しかしなお、鍛造鏝が及ぼす作用機序には解明すべき課題があり、この解明の継続が科学技術の新たな発展に寄与するものと考えた。 第7章では、鏝の作用を機能システムと見立てて、科学と連動するハイブリッドシステムの活用を検討した。鏝の作用を、手作業をナノ領域の粘土構造形成に伝える変換関数と考え、水の分子運動論を考え合わせると、鍛造鏝面の水分子の整列構造が、鏝の作用を決定づける仮説が成り立つ。 また、微粒子分散系の混錬実験とシミュレーションで、104のせん断速度では微粒子が流動配向を起こして整列し自由水が押し出される現象がみられ、京壁の流動化とノロ滲出のモデルと対応する。 第8章では、観察された現象を機能モデル化して、伝統技術の材料と技と道具の機能解析や工学要素抽出への試行をめざした。材料系では京壁が経時的に褐色に変色する「さび」はMnが原因と究明でき、技は京弓の竹材をひと振りで選り分ける動作、道具は漆塗りの刷毛の押しと引きの同時作用、および茶の湯の茶筅の種類が点前の動作に与える影響についてその糸口を論じた。 ものづくり現場の熟練者や伝統工芸の達人、日本の「道」の熟達者に共通する、ものや事象の勘所を捉える感性の原点には、モノと感性との連動を感じる。京壁の練りの終点、京弓の竹の接合形状と張り具合、茶の湯のお点前の所作などすべてが手応え感の所産である。 日本人特有の「人を知るようにモノを知る」感性を養うと、より的確に対象が動く。ゆらぎ状態から整列が始まる「予兆」と変化の始動点を「勘所」と感じるのは、水がランダムから高次の運動を始める点でもあり、材料挙動と感性感知とが共鳴していると考えざるを得ない。 科学にも政治経済にも社会にも人の感性を高め活力を与えるイノベーションが求められている。 今を生きる我々世代は先人の感性資産を受け、時代に沿わせて次世代に継ぐ「感性豊かな日本の強み」に発展する基盤をつくる使命をもつのではないだろうか。

北極や南極の海に生息する魚の血液中には、水が凍ることを妨げる働きをする不凍蛋白質（antifreeze protein）が存在している。この蛋白質が過冷却を促進することによって魚は体液の凍結を防ぎ、その結果、非常に寒い気象条件下でも生きのびることができる。一方、ある細菌の表面には、水が凍ることを促進する氷核蛋白質（ice nucleation protein）が存在している。この蛋白質が細胞外での水の凍結を促進し、細菌は自らの細胞内での致命的な凍結を防いでいる。両蛋白質とも、氷の結晶に吸着することにより機能を果たしていると考えられているが、そのメカニズムの分子レベルでの解明はまだ始まったばかりである。これらの蛋白質は、互いに似たオリゴペプチドが連続して繰り返すアミノ酸配列（タンデムリピート）を持っており、他の多くの蛋白質にも見られる一連のタンデムリピートの構造、機能および分子進化の研究につながるものと考えている。本総説では、我々の研究を含めたこれまでの研究を概観したい。To survive the freezing temperatures of the ice-laden polar and north temperate oceans, many fish inhabiting these waters synthesize biological antifreezes (AFs) , which lower the freezing point of their body fluids below that of the ambient seawater. These antifreezes, either protein (AFP) or glycoprotein (AFGP) , are synthesized by the liver and secreted into the blood from which they become distributed to almost the entire extracellular space. Many strains of the bacterial species, on the other hand, can catalyze the nucleation of ice at temperatures as high as -2 ℃. The ice-nucleating activity could prevent a fatal wound on the bacteria, which incites frost damage in many agricultural crops. Particular proteins (ice nucleation proteins; INPs) are essential for the ice-nucleating activity. Two types of proteins (AFP or AFGP and INP) function through interaction with ice. However, the molecular mechanism of the function remains unknown. This article reviews our present knowledge on the structure and mode of action of these proteins capable of ice interaction, including our recent study. Interestingly, AFGP, type I AFP and INP contain tandem repeats. This article constitutes part of our studies on the structure, function and molecular evolution of tandem repeats in proteins.

高等学校,大学の一般教養科目や専門教育の初歩の段階の物理教育では,パーソナルコンピューターの教育効果を様々な面で期待することができる。特に,熱力学分野を原子的自然観の理解を目的とした教材として考えるとき,その授業ではその活用は効果的である。この論文では筆者らが考案した簡単なモデルにもとづき,熱伝導現象とブラウン運動の2例についてパーソナルコンピューターを利用した教材を提案する。, Teaching materials are studied for the heat conduction through a gas and the Brownian motion, the molecular dynamics applied. Here, we adopt a boundary condition at walls of the vessel, which allows the energy exchange between the system and the heat bath in the former case; owing to the excellent abilities of personal computers in graphical representation, the concept of the thermal equilibrium and the mechanism of the heat conduction can be intuitively understood through the picture of the molecular motion. A model of the random force which drives the Brownian particle is also proposed on a similar idea as that in our study of the heat conduction; by this, the temperature dependence of the diffusibility of the Brownian particle can be easily explained.

密度の揺らぎのある液体気体における分子の自己拡散係数をレナードジョーンズ模型を使い分子動力学シミュレーションで調べた。一定時間内におきた変位の大きさの分布関数が密度の揺らぎの影響を大きく反映することが分かった。また配位数毎に自己拡散係数の大きさが大きく異なることを示した。, The self-diffusion coefficient in Lennard-Jones fluid was studied by molecular dynamics simulation in the states where the density fluctuation is observed. The distribution of the displacement in a time depends strongly on the density fluctuation. The coordination number in the first shell is the most important factor to determine the self-diffusion coefficient.

Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) calculations of the rotational relaxation of nitrogen in an isothermal bath and through a normal shock wave are performed using Classical Trajectory Calculations (CTC) and an improved intermolecular potential in order to make a physically accurate database for the assessment and improvement of DSMC rotational relaxation models. The Statistical Inelastic Cross-Section (SICS) model is modified by taking the total scattering cross section as the Variable Soft Sphere (VSS) cross section and calibrated so that the rotational temperature relaxation in an isothermal bath compares reasonably with the CTC-DSMC data over an appropriate range of bath temperatures. The Modified SICS (MSICS) model is applied to the DSMC calculation of the rotational relaxation of nitrogen through a normal shock wave. A Couette flow in an ultra-thin liquid film confined between solid plates has been studied by molecular dynamics simulations. Water was assumed for the liquid film, to which a shear is given by the relative motion of two solid walls. Thermal energy is generated by so-called 'viscous heating', resulting in a heat conduction as well as a transfer of momentum in the system.
