英語の動詞は他動詞と自動詞に分類され、さらに自動詞は非能格動詞と非対格動詞に分類される。自動詞にはこれらの非能格動詞と非対格動詞の他に、中間動詞がある。本論文は中間動詞を伴う文（中間構文）の意味的な特徴と統語的な特徴を明らかにし、それに基づいてその構文の統語構造を提案することを目的とする。まず、自動詞の種類と特性を考察し、中間動詞の特徴を明らかにする。その後、中間構文と非対格動詞を伴う文（非対格動詞文）を比較しながら、中間構文の意味的な特徴と統語的な特徴を明らかにする。その結果、中間構文は他動詞文と同様に動作主が意味的にも統語的にも存在する、と主張する。そして、その主張に基づいて、生成文法理論のミニマリスト・プログラムの枠組みで中間構文の構造を提案する。

新約聖書はギリシア語で書かれ、動詞の活用の相には能動相（active）、中動相（middle）、 受動相（passive）の３つがあるが、中動相は「ギリシア語に独特な相」であることから、 「中動」（middle）という用語には何ら特別な意味はないとすらされてきた。しかし、その 原因は「個人、人格、自由、責任」を前面に出すヨーロッパの思想・言語にとって、中動相の 文法が論理的に曖昧と受け取られ、主語・述語、主観・客観の合理的な論理によって「論証」 されないものは理解されない結果にすぎない。 改めて、中動相の背後にある歴史を振り返り、他の相との比較における特徴を浮かび上がら せたとき、中動相には固有の意味論的意義が認められる。それは、動作主の受影性である。 この意味論的意義を実現する方法として、原型的他動性からの「ぶれ」があり、このぶれこそ が中動相の命である。 しかし、聖書テキストも中動相を理解して解釈するとき、テキストの意味は異なってくる。 中動相の重要性を認識し中動相を理解してテキスト解釈に臨むことの意義を示す一つの試論で ある。

application/pdf, This paper deals with English imperatives in the passive form and examine under what condition the passive form can be used in imperative sentences. It has been recognised that, in general, imperative sentences with passive verbs are not acceptable in English, while there are some examples that allow the passive form to occur in the imperative. In this paper, it is claimed that passive imperatives are acceptable only when they are viewed as describing an action that can be controlled by the subject of the sentence, and that ‘the intentionality of the action’ is a key factor in the acceptability of passive imperatives. The paper introduces four different acceptable cases of English imperatives in the passive form and explains why the interpretation of ‘the intentionality of the action’ can be applied to the cases; passive imperatives are acceptable (i) when they represent the possibility of the consequences occurring after conducting other action directed by the addresser. Acting as an incentive to the directed action, the passive imperatives can be construed as having an agentive subject. (ii) when they are used to give advice or suggestion of ‘not resisting being’ and ‘letting yourself be’, both of which are associated with the intention of the subject. (iii) when passive imperatives occur with psych verbs and convey a directive to the addressee to pretend or try to appear to be experiencing the feeling expressed by the verb. Clearly, such a behaviour can be construed as intentional. (iv) when they are used in written texts, such as business and legal documents or notifi cations, as a polite means to inform, advise or warn people. It can be interpreted as intentional when the option of being informed/advised/ warned is left to the addressees.

視覚動詞 look/see、「みる」/「みえる」には、物理的に視覚で知覚する意味と、心理的なイメージを伴う心的に知覚する意味の両方があるが、本稿では、主に物理的な視覚による知覚について認知言語学的に比較・分析する。一般的には look at が「みる」、see が「みえる」であると考えられているが、これら日英の視覚動詞のそれぞれが独自の意味範疇を有し、このような単純な対訳では不十分であると思われる。このことを考察するために、これまで意味特定の基準として広く用いられて来た「動作主の有無」の妥当性を問うとともに、生態学および認知科学的な視覚情報の処理プロセスに関する知見を基に look/see、「みる」/「みえる」によって喚起される概念や機能の顕在化または希薄化の傾向を示し、言葉自体の意味が文脈によって変化する可能性を検討する。

I show that the niyotte phrase expressing an agent can only co occur with the verbs that have an agent argument and assign o to an object, in Japanese passive sentences, and that they are adjuncts based on the observation of the scope interpretations. Then, I propose that the passive morpheme, rare, that niyotte phrases expressing an agent can only attach to the verb that have an agent argument and assign o to an object, and deletes an agent argument from the argument structure of the verb it attaches to. The attached verb has no agent argument because of the attachment of the rare. Therefore, the niyotte phrase expressing an agent can only co occur with the attached verb.

application/pdf, 紀要論文, 私は台湾の政治大学で三年生の「日本名著選讀(一)」という科目を長年受け持っている。通常は日本の近代小説(多くは短編小説)を教材として学生に読ませている。この科目は学生の日本語のレベルアップを主な目的とする語学教育の一貫として東方語文学科日本語組のカリキュラムに組み込まれているものである。そこで、私はいつも学生の日本語力のアップをめざし、日本の文学作品の文章を正しく読みとれることを念頭において授業を進めていっている。授業は中国語に訳しながら学生と一緒に作品を読んでいく。これまで教材に使ってきた作品の中で夏目漱石の『坊っちゃん』(明治39年)では受動表現がかなり多く使われ、その使われ方には注目させられるものが少なくないことがわかった。そこで、『坊っちゃん』に使われる「れる・られる」表現(「行ける」のような可能動詞も含めた)をまず抽出し、「可能」「自発」「尊敬」「受身」の四つに分類した〔注1〕。「受身」と思われるセンテンスは223例中の124例で、数の多さでは四つの中で群を抜いているということがわかった。本稿では、『坊っちゃん』に見る受動表現の使われ方を詳しく考察し、併せて日本語教育を行う際の注意点なども取り上げて論じた。また、受動文の中に潜んでいる「迷惑」性にも言及した。

This paper, which is based on the analysis of the Holy Bible, examines the ways in which the Latin perfect and imperfect of tango are rendered in Modern French and Modern English from an aspectual point of view. The results are as follows : in the case of the agent as its subjects, that is , its subject being an animate nourn, there are 30 past-tense forms of tango, all of which are perfect forms. In this case, the passe simple of toucher (transitive) in French and the past of touch in English respectively correspond to the perfect of tango in Latin. Therefore, it shows an action or an event ; in the case of its subject being inanimate matter, there are 9 past-tense forms of tango, (1) four of which are imperfect forms,and (2) the others are perfect forms. Cobcerning (2), it is the imparfait of toucher a (intransitive) in French that corresponds to the imperfect of tango in Latin. Therefore it shows a state of contact. The past of touch also shows a state of contact without any action in this case. Therefore, it can be said that the level of transitivity is low. Concerning (2), it is the passe compose of toucher(transitive) that corresponds to the perfect of tango in Latin. According to the definitions of toucher in Petit Robert 1, it shows an action `avec mouvement' on that occasion, Therefore, it can be said that it shows an action. Like this, it is the present perfects of touch in English that corresponds to the perfect of tango in Latin. Judging from this, it can be said that the level of transitivity is high.
