日本の陸域観測技術衛星「だいち」(ALOS)に搭載された PRISMとAVNIR-2の光学センサによって2007-2010年に撮影された高分解能衛星画像を用いて, インド北西部のラダーク山脈にある195の氷河湖(0.0001km[2]以上)を確認した. そのうち0.001-0.05km[2]の氷河湖数が93%を占めており, 小規模な氷河湖が分布する地域である. 最大の氷河湖(0.25km[2])はラダーク山脈南東部の北側斜面に位置する. 主要な氷河湖のタイプはモレーンダム湖である. ラダーク山脈の氷河湖の最低位高度は, 山脈の北西端(4860m)と南東端(5560m)で大きく異なる. 1962年-1980年に撮影された米国軍事偵察衛星Corona KH-4A, KH-4B, Hexagon KH-9の衛星写真, その後のJERS-1(衛星)/OPS(センサ名), SPOT4, Landsat7/ETM+, Terra/ASTER, ALOS/PRISM, ALOS/AVNIR-2の衛星画像の分析により, ラダーク山脈北西部のドムカル谷流域に分布する13の氷河湖の多くは1960年代以降に出現したことがわかった. ドムカル谷最大の氷河湖No.3は, 1965-2000年に0.0012km[2]/年, 2000-2010年に0.0033km[2]/年で拡大を続けており, 2000年以降の拡大速度は大きい. ドムカル谷上流のタベイ・ルンパ谷の氷河前面には, 2011年に新たに出現した氷河湖No.13を確認した. この氷河湖は2010年10月28日の衛星画像ではまだ存在していないが, 2011年の6～8月のわずか2カ月間で面積0.0398km2, 体積528, 000m3, 最大水深28mまで発達した. この氷河湖はドムカル谷で2番目に大きく, 現地調査や継続したモニタリングが必要である., Using high-resolution optical imageries taken between 2007 and 2010 by the Panchromatic Remote-sensing Instrument for Stereo Mapping (PRISM) and the Advanced Visible and Near Infrared Radiometer type 2 (AVNIR-2) onboard the Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS), 195 glacier lakes (>0.0001 km2) were investigated in the Ladakh Range, northwestern India. 93% of 195 glacier lakes are of sizes between 0.05 and 0.001 km2, small glacier lakes are distributed in this range. The largest glacier lake (0.25 km2) is located in the southeastern part of the Ladakh Range, and Lake types are mostly moraine dammed lake. The lowest elevations of the glacier lakes differ greatly between northwestern (4, 860 m) and southeastern (5, 560 m) parts of the Ladakh Range. Corona KH-4A (8 October 1965), Corona KH-4B (28 September 1971), Hexagon KH-9, JERS-1/OPS, SPOT4, Landsat7/ETM+, Landsat5/TM, Terra/ASTER and ALOS/PRISM, ALOS/AVNIR-2 satellite imageries show that most of 13 glacier lakes in the Domkhar Valley have developed since the 1960s. Only 3 of the 13 glacier lakes have continued to expand since the 1960s, and their expansion rates have increased markedly since 2000. In upstream from the main Domkhar Valley, we confirmed a new glacier lake in front of a glacier in the Tabei Lungpa Valley. The lake did not exist on 28 October 2010, but then appeared suddenly over a span of about 2months. The area of the lake increased from 0.0072 km2 on 08 June 2011 (Terra/ASTER) to 0.0398 km2 on 3 August 2011 (Landsat5/TM). The estimated volume of the glacier lake is 528, 000 m3 and its maximum depth is 28 m using a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) from ALOS/PRISM. This lake is the second-largest glacier lake in the Domkhar Valley.

近年, 南アジアのヒマラヤ地域やその他の氷河地帯で, 気候変動と氷河の後退に起因する大きな災害が発生している。気候変動の影響で氷河湖は急速に発達・拡大しており, 決壊の危険性が指摘されている。氷河湖の決壊は下流域に壊滅的な洪水や災害をもたらす。したがって, 気候変動が氷河湖に与える影響を調査し, 氷河湖の挙動を把握することが不可欠である。本研究は, ネパール・ヒマラヤのツォ・ロルパ氷河湖での現地調査について報告するとともに, 気候変動がツォ・ロルパ氷河湖にもたらす影響について検証を行うものである。ツォ・ロルパ氷河湖はネパールで最も大きく, 潜在的危険性の最も高い氷河湖である。浸水・越流によるモレーンダムの決壊が引き起こす氷河湖決壊についての数値解析モデルを構築し, その解析結果を実験により得られた結果と比較した。, In recent years climate change and retreating glaciers constitute a major hazard in the Himalaya of South Asia or glacier regions of the world. Glacial lakes are rapidly developing or increasing due to climate change, which may cause the outburst of the lake. The outburst discharge from the glacial lake can cause catastrophic flooding and disasters in downstream area. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the impact of climate change on glacial lakes and to understand the behavior of the glacial lakes. In this study, the field assessment of Tsho Rolpa Glacial Lake in the Himalaya of Nepal has been presented and the impact of climate change on this glacial lake has been discussed. The Tsho Rolpa Glacial Lake is the largest and most potentially dangerous glacial lake in Nepal. A numerical model has been also developed for computing the characteristics of glacial lake outburst due to moraine dam failure by seepage and water overtopping. The simulated results are compared with the experimental results.

インド北西部のジャンム・カシミール州のラダーク山脈, ドムカル(Domkhar)谷上流に分布する氷河湖の現状を衛星画像解析と2010年6月と9月の現地調査から明らかにした. また, 2009年3, 8月, 2010年8-9月にも過去の氷河湖決壊洪水の発生時期やその被害に関する情報収集を現地でおこなった. Domkhar 谷上流部には, 32の小規模なクリーンタイプの氷河(氷河表面がデブリで覆われていない氷河; 0.008km2-1.2km2)とモレーンで堰き止められた11の氷河湖(0.003km2-0.096km2)が存在する. これら氷河の面積は1994-2009 年の約15年間で約3%消失した. 11の氷河湖の拡大履歴をみると, 3つの氷河湖は1980年以降拡大を続けており, 他の3 つは急激に面積を減少させ, 残りはほとんど変化していない. Domkhar 谷で最大の氷河湖(0.096km2)の拡大速度は, 0.0013km2/year(1980-2000年)と0.0033km2/year(2000-2010年)であり, 2000年以降拡大速度が大きくなっている. Domkhar 谷で5 つの氷河湖を現地調査した結果, 最大水深40mほどの氷河湖が2つあり, 湖水量は約1, 112, 000m3 と427, 000m3 であった. Domkhar谷における過去の氷河湖決壊洪水を衛星画像解析により調べたところ, 2000年以降に小規模な決壊が4回生じていた. Gongpa-Rangchong 谷の下流域に広がる土石流堆積物は, 2003年に生じた氷河湖決壊洪水によるものであった. 調査した5つの氷河湖の面積と水量の関係式から, 2003年に決壊した氷河湖(0.005km2)の水量を見積ったところ, 小規模な氷河湖(16, 900m3)による決壊であることがわかった. この氷河湖決壊洪水は小規模であったが, 下流域に土石流堆積物を堆積させ, Domkhar谷で木製の橋, 水車小屋, 畑などを破壊した. この氷河湖の決壊要因は, 氷河湖を堰きとめるアイスコアードモレーン内部に発達したアイストンネルの開通によるものであった. Gongpa-Rangchong 谷の上流部にある氷河湖(427, 000m3)では, 湖を堰き止めるモレーン内部に発達するアイストンネルを確認した., We studied glacier lakes in the Domkhar Valley of the Ladakh Range (Indian Himalayas), state of Jammu and Kashmir, northwestern India, based on satellite images and a field survey undertaken in June and September 2010. Information about glacier lake outburst floods (GLOFs) in the past and their damages was collected by interviews for local people in March and August 2009 and August-September in 2010. 32 small (0.008km[2]–1.2km[2]) glaciers and 11 glacier lakes (0.002–0.096km[2]) were found in the valley. The glaciers shrank by 3% in total area from 1994 to 2009. Three of the glacier lakes have expanded since 1980, three glacier lakes shrank rapidly in the 2000s, and five glacier lakes have remained unchanged in its areal extent. The largest glacier lake (0.096km[2]) in the Domkhar Valley had expansions rate of 0.0013km[2]/year in 1980–2000 and 0.0033km[2]/year in 2000–2010; the expansion rate was higher after 2000. Of the five glacier lakes studied, two glacier lakes with maximum depths of ~40m had water volumes of ~1, 112, 000m[3] and ~427, 000m[3]. An investigation of GLOFs in the Domkhar Valley using satellite imagery showed that four small GLOFs occurred since 2000. Fresh debris-flow deposits in the Gongpa-Rangchong Valley have been caused by a small GLOF in 2003. Although the estimated volume (~16, 900m[3]) of the lake was small, wooden bridges, fields, and water mills in the villages of Domkhar Valley were damaged. This GLOF occurred when an ice tunnel opened within the ice-cored moraine damming the lake. We observed that icetunnel drainage from a glacier lake (water volume ~427, 000m[3]) in the Gongpa-Rangchong Valley seem to develop at present.

ヒマラヤの高山域では, 氷河湖決壊洪水が大きな問題になっている。しかし多くの氷河湖では十分な気象観測が行われておらず, 氷河湖の水収支が明らかでない。そこで, 氷河湖の水収支モデルを開発する為に, ネパールのImja氷河湖周辺で気象観測を行った。観測の結果から, 気温と風速は類似した日周変化を示し, 日中の氷河上の風向は南南西から南西の風が卓越していた。氷河を覆うデブリ (土砂混じりの岩屑) のデブリ層中温度 は, デブリが厚くなるほど気温の変動を受けにくくなる結果が得られた。アルベドの観測では, デブリが混じった湖水のアルベドが, 氷河上のデブリのアルベドより低くなる結果が得られた。, The glacial lake outburst flood is a critical issue at the high mountain region of Himalaya. However, available meteorological observation data are still limited in clarifying the water budget mechanism of the glacial lake. This study has carried out field investigation around the Imja glacial lake in Nepal with the objective of development of a glacial lake hydrological model. The meteorological observation results showed that air temperature had strong relationship with wind speed. These results showed that, during the field observation period, averaged wind direction was south-west at the Imja glacier in the day time. The fluctuation of subsurface temperature of debris was influenced by the covered debris thickness. It was found that when the thickness of the debris exceeds 10 cm, the subsurface temperature of the debris kept at zero degree in the day time. The observation of albedo indicated that the albedo of glacial water was lower than that of the debris.

氷河湖決壊洪水はその下流域において大規模な洪水を引き起こす恐れがあり，その80%は氷河や氷河湖(モレーンダム湖)内に浸水する氷河先端部の崩壊に起因する波によって生じる，統合型数値モデルの開発に向けて，(1)氷河の崩壊によって生じる波の予測，(2)越流およびモレーンダム侵食による流出ハイドログラフの予測，(3)洪水危険度評価のための下流域の洪水と堆砂過程の予測は不可欠であり，本研究では越流波と侵食によるモレーンダムの決壊に着目し室内実験を行った。室内実験では，氷河の崩壊規模，堤体形状と材料，ダム湖の水位を変化させ，越流波と侵食による流出ハイドログラフが複数のピークを有することを確認した。さらに，崩落規模とモレーンダム湖の水位が同様の条件のもと三角形形状と台形形状の堤体ではともに流出ハイドログラフの初期ピークは同様の傾向を示したが，その後のピークの規模と時刻は堤体形状と材料に応じて異なることを確認した。, Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) may cause floods of great magnitudes in the downstream river reaches. About 80% of GLOFs (based on 20 cases with known failure mechanisms) were initiated by displacement waves from ice avalanches that collapsed into the lakes from hanging or calving glaciers and rock avalanches. Therefore, an integrated model is essential for the i) prediction of waves generated by ice/rock avalanche, ii) prediction of outflow hydrograph due to waves overtopping and erosion of moraine dam and iii) flow and sediment routing in the downstream for flood risk assessment. Toward development of an integrated model, this study focuses on experimental study of moraine dam failure due to waves overtopping and erosion. Extensive laboratory experiments are carried out by varying size of ice/rock avalanche, shape of the dam, dam material and lake water level. The outflow hydrographs produced by waves overtopping and erosion consist multiple peaks. For the same falling block and lake water level, the initial peaks are similar for both triangular and trapezoidal dams. However, magnitude and timing of subsequent peaks are different according to dam shapes and dam materials.

気候変動に起因する氷河湖決壊洪水(GLOF)による洪水災害と土砂災害は南アジアのヒマラヤ地域やその他の氷河地帯においてたびたび発生し、下流において深刻な洪水災害をもたらす脅威となっている。氷河湖の決壊の主な原因は、氷塊の移動が急激な水位上昇や浸透流、氷河サージを引き起こし、それによってモレーンダムが破壊されることである。本報は、モレーンダムの破壊に起因する氷河湖決壊を研究したものである。浸透流と水位上昇による越流がもたらすモレーンダム破壊を一連の実験によって検証し、浸透とモレーンダムの破壊について行った数値解析結果と比較した。また、氷河湖に与える全球気候変化の影響も解析し、観測記録にもとづいて氷河湖決壊洪水流量を予測する経験的関係を導いた。, Due to impact of climate change flood and sediment disasters caused by Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) are frequently occurred in the Himalaya of South Asia or glacier regions of the world. GLOF poses a serious threat of flood disasters at downstream valley. Outburst of glacial lakes typically occurs due to moraine dam failure caused by glacier mass movement leading to a rapid rise of water level, seepage flow and a surge. The outburst of glacial lake due to moraine dam failure has been investigated. The moraine dam failure by seepage flow and overtopping due to water level rising has been investigated though a series of flume experiments. Numerical analysis of seepage and moraine dam failure has been also performed. The simulated results are compared with the experimental results. The impact of global climate change on glacial lakes is also analyzed. The empirical relationship to predict GLOF discharge has been also developed based on the recorded GLOFs discharge.

近年ヒマラヤ周辺国で大きな問題になっている氷河湖決壊洪水の防災のために，氷河湖の成長拡大機構をモデル化し，周辺国地域における防災計画の一助となる事を目的としている。ネパールでは氷河湖決壊洪水は，同国で最も懸念される災害である。しかし氷河湖の拡大成長機構はいまだ明らかでなく，防災対策や決壊時期の予測に必要な水位の将来予測が出来ていないのが現状である。本研究では危険性が指摘されているネパールのImja氷河湖を対象として氷河湖の成長拡大機構のモデル化を試みた。氷河湖が拡大する原因の一つである氷河湖に接する氷河のCalving(氷塊分離)に着目し，その原因である氷河湖内の水温分布の予測を三次元非静水圧流動解析モジュールBiwa-3Dを元に改良をしたImja-3Dを用いて計算を行った。結果，氷河に接する面で比較的高い水温分布が観測され，氷河湖の形状がCalvingを引き起こしている可能性を示した。, The glacial lake outburst floods is one of the most concerned disaster in the NEPAL. However the mechanism of glacial lake growth and expansion is not well understood, therefore it is very difficult to predict the water level in future for the disaster mitigation plan and the disaster prediction. This study targets the Imja Glacial Lake in NEPAL and tries to develop the model of glacial lake growth and expansion in the Imja Glacial Lake. This study also focused on the glacial carving which is one of the causes of glacial lake expansion. The carving is occurred by water temperature increase. The water temperature distribution analysis in the lake is the one of the most important factor for predicting carving. In this study we use Imja-3D, based on Biwa-3D. The results indicate, the temperature of the part of touch the terminal glacial is higher than the other part. From this result, it is expected that the form of glacial lake contribute to the occurrence of the carving.
