プラスチックによる海洋汚染が問題となっている。これはもともと一部で関知されてはいたが、2016年の世界経済フォーラムにおける報告以来、気候変動、生物多様性危機に次ぐ第三の地球環境問題であると認識されつつある。以降、研究論文以外にも様々な啓発本が出版され、SDGsとの関連もあり、企業や自治体でも「使い捨てプラスチック」の削減に向けて、様々な検討や施策が始まっている。このように最近は、環境問題との関連でプラスチックを捉える試みは増えているが、そもそもプラスチックに依存した経済の実態を捉える研究はそれほど多くはない。例えば、プラスチック製品とはどのような経済的特性を持った財貨であり、他の財貨に対してどのような違いがあるのか。本稿では、産業連関分析を利用して、プラスチック産業の特徴や他の産業との関連等の解明を試みたい。

今から13年前の2008年に、日本の1990年代の食農による環境負荷を産業連関表によって分析し、本誌に投稿した。その際に、尾崎巌の開発したユニット・ストラクチュア分析を応用して日本のフードシステムを析出し、90年代におけるその推移を検討した。本校はその続編であり、引き続き2000年以降のフードシステムを分析している。そのなかで、特に環境負荷が増大している野菜のフードシステムについては、第４節で生産段階に遡ってエネルギー使用を検討している。また前回同様、内生385部門の2000－2011年接続産業連関表（実質価格）や内生388部門の2015年基本価格表を用いて、環境負荷の実態と変化を、各部門のエネルギー消費だけではなく、エネルギー原単位やCO₂排出原単位などの指標で捉えている。さらに最近、海洋汚染で問題となっているプラスチック製品と食農部門との関連を分析している点が特徴である。, 樫原正澄先生退職記念号

In the Department of Studies of Lifestyle Management at Jissen Women’s University, undergraduate students can learn about environmental science and energy. The introductory course on environmental science is offered to first-year undergraduates. In this course, the electromagnetic waves, such as visible, infrared and ultraviolet rays, are taught from through the phenomenon of aurora. It was found that the use of teaching materials with many photographs and graphs are very effective for the undergraduates. The positive attitude of the undergraduates in studying environmental science and energy was enhanced by the creation of an ecological campus map and growing the KANTO Taraxacum (a dandelion that grows naturally in the Kanto region of Japan).

The education for regional vitalization including renewable energy is one of the main purposes of the Department of Studies on Lifestyle Management at Jissen Women’s University. Therefore, education of natural sciences, primarily chemistry, and social sciences is required for recognizing the academic fields of energy and the environment. Recognition of the important relations between women and energy is enhanced by the lectures carried out by female scientists concerning the works of energy and environment. The author promotes the increase of undergraduate students holding licenses related to energy and the environment through various kinds of education within those fields of study.

The international conference "Perth III: Mountains of Our Future Earth" was held in Perth, Scotland on Oct. 4-8, 2015. International trends in mountain studies observed at the meeting are examined, following a brief history of recent international mountain studies. Field trips and educational activities associated with the meeting are also introduced, and future perspectives are proposed to activate mountain studies in Japan.
