Irisin is a hormone-like polypeptide secreted by the muscle tissue, which is generated after hydrolysis of fibronectin type Ⅲ domain-containing protein 5 by proteolytic enzymes, and released into the peripheral circulation. Irisin plays a potentially protective role in acute myocardial infarction (AMI). This article summarizes the present research progress of the protective effects of irisin in AMI mainly from the following aspects: reducing oxidative stress response, improving mitochondrial function, inhibiting myocardial apoptosis, inhibiting inflammatory response, improving microcirculation, in order to provide valuable references for the diagnosis and treatment of AMI. Objective To investigate the relationship between red blood cell distribution width (RDW) and the recurrence of atrial fibrillation (AF) after radiofrequency ablation. Methods We selected 150 patients diagnosed with paroxysmal AF who had undergone radiofrequency ablation. They were divided into normal RDW group (96 cases) and elevated RDW group (54 cases) according to preoperative RDW level. The AF recurrence was followed up for observation and compared between the two groups; regression analysis was performed to explore the predictive factors of AF recurrence after ablation. Results In the elevated RDW group, the level of high sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) of patients is higher than that in the normal RDW group (P <0. 05) while the recurrence rate of AF after ablation is also higher than that in the normal RDW group (24. 1% vs. 11. 5%, P <0. 05). Multivariate regression analysis shows that RDW, AF duration, left atrial diameter and hs-CRP level are independent predictors of AF recurrence after ablation. Conclusion Among the AF patients with increased RDW, the recurrence rate of AF after ablation significantly increases. Intervention measures should be strengthened for these patients. Cardiotoxicity is becoming one of the most harmful side effects of anti-tumor treatment, and the occurrence of arrhythmia is increasingly attracting attention. Arrhythmias caused by chemotherapy drugs include atrial fibrillation, atrial premature beats, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular premature beats, ventricular tachycardia, sinus bradycardia, sinus arrest, atrioventricular block. Arrhythmias can be secondary to drug-induced cardiomyopathy or heart failure, or they can occur independently. At present, the bradyarrhythmia associated with chemotherapy drugs has not drawn enough clinical attention, and the actual incidence of bradyarrhythmias related to anti-tumor treatment is underestimated.
