Mandarin orange (Citrus reticulata Blanco) is the most common citrus fruit, covering nearly 42 % of the total citrus cultivation area in India. The main varieties of mandarin oranges cultivated in India include Nagpur Mandarin, Khasi Mandarin, Coorg Mandarin and Sikkim Mandarin. Globally, genomic data is being used to unravel the complexities and mysteries of citrus taxonomy. However, despite India being a primary centre of citrus origin, these valuable genomic resources remain underutilized. Here, we conducted whole genome resequencing of four mandarin genotypes viz., Nagpur Mandarin (22,861,254 bp raw reads), Sikkim Mandarin (24,160,847 bp raw reads), Coorg Mandarin (27,974,860 bp raw reads), and Khasi Mandarin (40,532,383 bp raw reads) using Illumina Novaseq 6000 sequencing platform with 28x sequencing coverage. These genomic sequences will provide valuable insights into the taxonomic complexities and evolutionary history of mandarin oranges. The identified SNPs can further be used to study the evolution of flowering patterns in citrus, especially under tropical and subtropical conditions. The NGS data obtained (FASTQ format) for all four mandarin genotypes have been deposited in the Indian Biological Data Centre (https://ibdc.dbtindia.gov.in/inda/submittedStudyHome) under INDA study Id INRP000149. En este trabajo abordamos la novela gráfica de Pedro Prado titulada: Santa María 1907. La marcha ha comenzado (2014). Prado se hace cargo de uno de los eventos históricos más duros de la memoria chilena: la matanza de los obreros en la escuela Domingo Santa María de Iquique el año 1907. Nos guía la pregunta por el aporte de lo visual entendido como una representación con características propias del medio del cómic. El análisis se centra en las técnicas específicas mediante las cuales se logra una clara emergencia de un sujeto colectivo (doble página, viñeta a página entera, uso de planos, focalización). En segunda instancia, se considera el recurso de la animalización y su posible función dentro de la lógica de la novela. Se cierra el análisis mediante la constatación de la temporalidad de la duración como resistencia mediante el uso de viñeta alargada. Las opciones de Prado realzan el aspecto de colectividad de la marcha, humanizan a las víctimas y anuncian una nueva legibilidad.

Artificial aggregate (AF), i.e., silico manganese (SiMn) slag aggregate, is a byproduct of ferromanganese and silico manganese alloy production. The utilization of industrial waste and industrial byproducts in construction has increased the aim of conserving natural resources to nurture a pollution-free environment. The current study examines the performance of the use of artificial aggregate (AF) and partial replacement of cement with fly ash (FA). The properties of fresh concrete, as well as the compressive and flexural strength and split tensile strength of concrete were evaluated. Seven mix proportions were prepared for M30-grade concrete. The first was a control mix (with 0% AF and FA), three other mixes contained varying amounts of AF (20%, 40%, and 60%) as a partial replacement of CA with AF. The average compressive strength of the control SCC was found to be 32.87 MPa (megapascals) at the age of 28 days, and after replacing 20% natural aggregate with artificial aggregate, the compressive strength increased by 8.27%, whereas for 40% and 60% replacement, it decreased by 4.46% and 12.55%, respectively. Further investigation was performed on the optimum value obtained by replacing 20% of CA with AF. At this percentage, cement was replaced by FA at (15%, 25%, and 35%) where at 15%, the average compressive strength increased by 7.41%, whereas for 25% and 35% replacement, it decreased by 7.47% and 17.19%, respectively. For SCAF20 and SCF15, all strengths were at maximum due to the increase in its density. The findings show that the development of advanced construction materials is environmentally sustainable.

The growth and advancements done in solid mechanics and metallurgy have come up with various characterization techniques that help in prediction of elastic properties of different types of materials—isotropic, anisotropic, transverse isotropic, etc. Soft tissues which refer to fibrous tissues, fat, blood vessels, muscles and other tissues that support the body were found to have some control over its mechanical properties. This mechanical behavior of soft tissues has recently shifted the attention of many researchers to develop methods to characterize and describe the mechanical response of soft tissues. The paper discusses the biomechanical nature of soft tissues and the work done to characterize their elastic properties. The paper gives a review of the behavior and characteristics of soft tissues extracted from various experimental tests employed in their characterization. Soft tissues exhibit complex behavior and various complexities are involved in their experimental testing due to their small size and fragile nature. The paper focuses on the conventionally used tensile and compression tests and the difficulties encountered in soft tissue characterization. It also describes the utility of ultrasound technique which is a non-destructive method to characterize soft tissues. Tensile and compression test used to characterize materials are destructive in nature. This literature survey explores existing research relevant to the development of an "Automatic Water Dispenser" project. This project aims to revolutionize water dispensing through a touch-free and app-controlled approach. It leverages sensor technology for hands-free activation, eliminating the need for physical buttons and screens. Users simply place a container under the dispenser to initiate water flow. Additionally, a companion app allows for precise control over the dispensed volume. In the pursuit of enhanced athletic prowess in different disciplines, athletes constantly look for strategies to increase their physical performance, encompassing technical skills and dietary components, which inevitably, in most cases, include the incorporation of sports supplements. In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of athletes using ergogenic aids. In this context, scientific evidence must play a prominent role in either endorsing or warning against the use of these products, ensuring the preservation of health while promoting the theoretically established positive benefits. In this vein, beetroot juice (BJ) stands out as a key supplement as an ergogenic aid to improve sports performance, given its demonstrated influence on both aerobic and anaerobic exercise. However, despite widespread global demand, there remains a lack of understanding regarding the potential synergistic effects of combining BJ with other supplements. Consequently, our study aims to determine whether the combination of BJ with another nutritional supplement can enhance its beneficial effects and, therefore, optimize physical performance in humans. A comprehensive literature search was conducted in two major databases—Web of Science and PubMed—from 1 January 2018 to 29 January 2023, using specific keywords. After the exclusion criteria, six articles were selected for analysis. Therefore, our study shows that the effectiveness of combining BJ with another supplement mainly depends on the duration of the chronic intervention, which is where the greatest benefits have been observed.

The project k.i.d.Z.21-Austria is aimed at raising climate change literacy among teenagers. As the participating teenagers had different weaknesses regarding climate change literacy before the project, the project evaluation places emphasis on how the project manages to compensate for these conditions by focusing on the specific weaknesses. Therefore, the preconditions were detected by means of a pre-survey (N = 392). Based thereon, a t-test for paired samples tested the teenagers' development within the project. The results show that the weaknesses were mostly addressed and that focusing on a target group and weakness specification in evaluating environmental education can be beneficial.

Objective: To evaluate patient demographic characteristics and risk factors for mortality during the first and the second wave among COVID-19 patients in a tertiary care hospital of India. Methods: Data were taken from the hospital’s electronic system for COVID-19 patients from August 2020 to December 2020, and the second from January 2021 to May 2021. The mortality rate, demographic and clinical characteristics, laboratory profile, and reasons for the death of the two waves were retrieved and compared, and the risk factors of the two waves were determined. Abstract Background Follow-up imaging in intracerebral hemorrhage is not standardized and radiologists rely on different imaging modalities to determine hematoma growth. This study assesses the volumetric accuracy of different imaging modalities (MRI, CT angiography, postcontrast CT) to measure hematoma size. Methods 28 patients with acute spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage referred to a tertiary stroke center were retrospectively included between 2018 and 2019. Inclusion criteria were (1) spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (supra- or infratentorial), (2) noncontrast CT imaging performed on admission, (3) follow-up imaging (CT angiography, postcontrast CT, MRI), and (4) absence of hematoma expansion confirmed by a third cranial image within 6 days. Two independent raters manually measured hematoma volume by drawing a region of interest on axial slices of admission noncontrast CT scans as well as on follow-up imaging (CT angiography, postcontrast CT, MRI) using a semi-automated segmentation tool (Visage image viewer; version 7.1.10). Results were compared using Bland–Altman plots. Results Mean admission hematoma volume was 18.79 ± 19.86 cc. All interrater and intrarater intraclass correlation coefficients were excellent (1; IQR 0.98–1.00). In comparison to hematoma volume on admission noncontrast CT volumetric measurements were most accurate in patients who received postcontrast CT (bias of − 2.47%, SD 4.67: n = 10), while CT angiography often underestimated hemorrhage volumes (bias of 31.91%, SD 45.54; n = 20). In MRI sequences intracerebral hemorrhage volumes were overestimated in T2* (bias of − 64.37%, SD 21.65; n = 10). FLAIR (bias of 6.05%, SD 35.45; n = 13) and DWI (bias of-14.6%, SD 31.93; n = 12) over- and underestimated hemorrhagic volumes. Conclusions Volumetric measurements were most accurate in postcontrast CT while CT angiography and MRI sequences often substantially over- or underestimated hemorrhage volumes.
