1. Fine structure and kinematics of the ionized and molecular gas in the jet and disk around S255IR NIRS3 from high resolution ALMA observations

Abstract: We present observations of the high-mass star-forming region S255IR, which harbors the $\sim$20 M$_\odot$ protostar NIRS3, where a disk-mediated accretion burst was recorded several years ago, with the angular resolution of $\sim$15 mas, which corresponds to $\sim$25 au and is almost an order of magnitude better than in the previous studies of this object. The observations were performed with ALMA at a wavelength of 0.9 mm in continuum and in several molecular lines. In the continuum we detected the central bright source (brightness temperature $\sim$850 K) elongated along the jet direction and two pairs of bright knots in the jet lobes. These pairs of knots imply a double ejection from NIRS3 with the time interval of $\sim$1.5 years. The orientation of the jet differs by $\sim$20$^\circ$ from that on larger scales, as mentioned also in some other recent works. The 0.9 mm continuum emission of the central source represents a mixture of the dust thermal emission and free-free emission of the ionized gas. Properties of the free-free emission are typical for hypercompact H II regions. In the continuum emission of the knots in the jet the free-free component apparently dominates. In the molecular lines a sub-Keplerian disk around NIRS3 about 400 au in diameter is observed. The absorption features in the molecular lines towards the central bright source may indicate an infall. The molecular line emission appears very inhomogeneous at small scales, which may indicate a small-scale clumpiness in the disk., Comment: 8 pages, 8 figures, accepted by Astronomy & Astrophysics

2. A Survey Of High Mass Star Forming Regions In The Line Of Singly Deuterated Ammonia NH2D

Abstract: The present survey represents a continuation of our study of high mass star forming regions in the lines of deuterated molecules, the first results of which were published in Trofimova et al. (2020). This paper presents the results of observations of 50 objects in the line of ortho modification of singly deuterated ammonia NH$_2$D $1_{11}^s - 1_{01}^a$ at frequency 85.9 GHz, carried out with the 20-m radio telescope of the Onsala Space Observatory (Sweden). This line is detected in 29 sources. The analysis of obtained data, as well as the fact that gas density in the investigated sources, according to independent estimates, is significantly lower than the critical density for this NH$_2$D transition, indicate non-LTE excitation of NH$_2$D. Based on non-LTE modeling, estimates of the relative content of the NH$_2$D molecule and the degree of deuterium enrichment were obtained, and the dependencies of these parameters on temperature and velocity dispersion were analyzed with and without taking into account detection limits assuming the same gas density in all sources. An anti-correlation between the NH$_2$D relative abundances and the kinetic temperature is revealed in the temperature range 15-50K. At the same time, significant decrease in the ratio of the NH$_2$D/NH$_3$ abundances with increasing temperature, predicted by the available chemical models, is not observed under the adopted assumptions. An anti-correlation was also revealed between the relative content of the main isotopologue of ammonia NH$_3$ and the velocity dispersion, while no statistically significant correlation with the kinetic temperature of sources in the same temperature range was found., Comment: 36 pages, 9 figures, accepted for publication in Astronomy Reports

3. Combined Optimization of Dynamics and Assimilation with End-to-End Learning on Sparse Observations

Abstract: Fitting nonlinear dynamical models to sparse and noisy observations is fundamentally challenging. Identifying dynamics requires data assimilation (DA) to estimate system states, but DA requires an accurate dynamical model. To break this deadlock we present CODA, an end-to-end optimization scheme for jointly learning dynamics and DA directly from sparse and noisy observations. A neural network is trained to carry out data accurate, efficient and parallel-in-time DA, while free parameters of the dynamical system are simultaneously optimized. We carry out end-to-end learning directly on observation data, introducing a novel learning objective that combines unrolled auto-regressive dynamics with the data- and self-consistency terms of weak-constraint 4Dvar DA. By taking into account interactions between new and existing simulation components over multiple time steps, CODA can recover initial conditions, fit unknown dynamical parameters and learn neural network-based PDE terms to match both available observations and self-consistency constraints. In addition to facilitating end-to-end learning of dynamics and providing fast, amortized, non-sequential DA, CODA provides greater robustness to model misspecification than classical DA approaches., Comment: Submitted to Journal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems (JAMES)

Abstract: Euclid will cover over 14000 $deg^{2}$ with two optical and near-infrared spectro-photometric instruments, and is expected to detect around ten million active galactic nuclei (AGN). This unique data set will make a considerable impact on our understanding of galaxy evolution and AGN. In this work we identify the best colour selection criteria for AGN, based only on Euclid photometry or including ancillary photometric observations, such as the data that will be available with the Rubin legacy survey of space and time (LSST) and observations already available from Spitzer/IRAC. The analysis is performed for unobscured AGN, obscured AGN, and composite (AGN and star-forming) objects. We make use of the spectro-photometric realisations of infrared-selected targets at all-z (SPRITZ) to create mock catalogues mimicking both the Euclid Wide Survey (EWS) and the Euclid Deep Survey (EDS). Using these catalogues we estimate the best colour selection, maximising the harmonic mean (F1) of completeness and purity. The selection of unobscured AGN in both Euclid surveys is possible with Euclid photometry alone with F1=0.22-0.23, which can increase to F1=0.43-0.38 if we limit at z>0.7. Such selection is improved once the Rubin/LSST filters (a combination of the u, g, r, or z filters) are considered, reaching F1=0.84 and 0.86 for the EDS and EWS, respectively. The combination of a Euclid colour with the [3.6]-[4.5] colour, which is possible only in the EDS, results in an F1-score of 0.59, improving the results using only Euclid filters, but worse than the selection combining Euclid and LSST. The selection of composite ($f_{{\rm AGN}}$=0.05-0.65 at 8-40 $\mu m$) and obscured AGN is challenging, with F1<0.3 even when including ancillary data. 5. Lower Bounds for Weighted Chebyshev and Orthogonal Polynomials

Abstract: We derive optimal asymptotic and non-asymptotic lower bounds on the Widom factors for weighted Chebyshev and orthogonal polynomials on compact subsets of the real line. In the Chebyshev case we extend the optimal non-asymptotic lower bound previously known only in a handful of examples to regular compact sets and a large class weights. Using the non-asymptotic lower bound, we extend Widom's asymptotic lower bound for weights bounded away from zero to a large class of weights with zeros including weights with strong zeros and infinitely many zeros. As an application of the asymptotic lower bound we extend Bernstein's 1931 asymptotics result for weighted Chebyshev polynomials on an interval to arbitrary Riemann integrable weights with finitely many zeros and to some continuous weights with infinitely many zeros. In the case of orthogonal polynomials, we derive optimal asymptotic and non-asymptotic lower bound on arbitrary regular compact sets for a large class of weights in the non-asymptotic case and for arbitrary Szeg\H{o} class weights in the asymptotic case, extending previously known bounds on finite gap and Parreau--Widom sets.

Abstract: The Cosmic Dawn Survey (DAWN survey) provides multiwavelength (UV/optical to mid-IR) data across the combined 59 deg$^{2}$ of the Euclid Deep and Auxiliary fields (EDFs and EAFs). Here, the first public data release (DR1) from the DAWN survey is presented. DR1 catalogues are made available for a subset of the full DAWN survey that consists of two Euclid Deep fields: Euclid Deep Field North (EDF-N) and Euclid Deep Field Fornax (EDF-F). The DAWN survey DR1 catalogues do not include $Euclid$ data as they are not yet public for these fields. Nonetheless, each field has been covered by the ongoing Hawaii Twenty Square Degree Survey (H20), which includes imaging from CFHT MegaCam in the new $u$ filter and from Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) in the $griz$ filters. Each field is further covered by $Spitzer$/IRAC 3.6-4.5$\mu$m imaging spanning 10 deg$^{2}$ and reaching $\sim$25 mag AB (5$\sigma$). All present H20 imaging and all publicly available imaging from the aforementioned facilities are combined with the deep $Spitzer$/IRAC data to create source catalogues spanning a total area of 16.87 deg$^{2}$ in EDF-N and 2.85 deg$^{2}$ in EDF-F for this first release. Photometry is measured using The Farmer, a well-validated model-based photometry code. Photometric redshifts and stellar masses are computed using two independent codes for modeling spectral energy distributions: EAZY and LePhare. Photometric redshifts show good agreement with spectroscopic redshifts ($\sigma_{\rm NMAD} \sim 0.5, \eta < 8\%$ at $i < 25$). Number counts, photometric redshifts, and stellar masses are further validated in comparison to the COSMOS2020 catalogue. The DAWN survey DR1 catalogues are designed to be of immediate use in these two EDFs and will be continuously updated. Future data releases will provide catalogues of all EDFs and EAFs and include $Euclid$ data.

7. Characterizing chemical abundance ratios in extremely metal-poor star-forming galaxies in DESI EDR

Abstract: We present a search for galaxies in the local Universe with extremely low oxygen abundance, that is, more than 25 times lower than solar, which corresponds to 12 + log(O/H) < 7.3. To determine the oxygen abundance, we apply the direct Te method for objects where the [OIII]4363 line is detected. We identified 21 extremely metal-poor galaxies in the early data release of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI EDR), for some of which we also derived N/O, Ne/O, Ar/O, and S/O ratios. We find that many DESI galaxies with extremely low oxygen abundance exhibit a higher N/O ratio in comparison to the reference low-metallicity sample collected from the literature. We suggest that the elevation in N/O ratio may be explained by a contamination with metal-rich gas caused by gas inflow or a merger event. Moreover, contrary to some recent studies, we find that Ar/O and S/O ratios are enhanced as well, while the Ne/O ratio does not show such elevation. One of the galaxies, J0713+5608, has a remarkably low oxygen abundance of 6.978$\pm$0.095 dex. This measurement aligns with the lowest known oxygen abundances in galaxies to date. Given the relatively high uncertainty, this galaxy may have the lowest oxygen abundance ever found. Additionally, J0713+5608 exhibited an enhanced N/O ratio compared to the typical N/O ratio observed in metal-poor galaxies within the local Universe., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures. 8. Study of the physical and chemical properties of dense clumps in several high-mass star-forming regions

Abstract: Massive stars play an important role in the Universe. Unlike low-mass stars, the formation of these objects located at great distances is still unclear. It is expected to be governed by some combination of self-gravity, turbulence, and magnetic fields. Our aim is to study of the chemical and physical conditions of dense clumps in several high-mass star-forming regions. We performed observations towards 5 high-mass star-forming regions (L1287, S187, S231, DR21(OH), NGC7538) with the IRAM 30 m telescope. We covered the 2-3 and 4 mm wavelength band and analyzed the lines of HCN, HNC, HCO$^+$, HC$_3$N, HNCO, OCS, CS, SiO, SO$_2$ and SO. Using astrodendro algorithm on the 850 $\mu$m dust emission data from the SCUBA Legacy catalogue, we identified dense gas clumps and determined their masses, H$_2$ column densities and sizes. Furthermore, the kinetic temperatures, molecular abundances and dynamical state were obtained. The Red Midcourse Space Experiment Source survey (RMS) was used to determine the clump types. We identified $\sim$20 clumps. We found no significant correlation between line width and size, but the linewidth-mass and mass-size relationships are strongly correlated. Virial analysis indicated that the clumps with HII regions and young stellar objects (YSOs) are gravitationally bound. Furthermore, it was suggested that significant magnetic fields provide additional support for clump stability. 9. Study of the high-mass star-forming region S255IR at various scales

Abstract: The S255IR-SMA1 core contains the protostar NIRS3 with a mass of $\sim$20 M$_\odot$. Several years ago, the first burst of luminosity for massive protostars, caused by an episodic accretion event, was recorded here. We have been studying this object for a long time using various instruments, including ALMA. The general morphology and kinematics of this area have been investigated. Disk-shaped structures, jets and outflows have been identified and studied in detail. We recently observed this object with ALMA with a resolution an order of magnitude higher than previously achieved - about 15 milliarcseconds, which corresponds to about 25 AU. This paper presents new results from the analysis of these data together with observations in other bands. The new data show an inhomogeneous disk structure, an ionized region around the protostar, and the presence of a jet observed in the submillimeter continuum, consisting of individual knots, the orientation of which differs markedly from that on large scales. Abstract: We argue that the North Polar Spur (NPS) and many less prominent structures are formed by gaseous metal-rich plumes associated with star-forming regions (SFRs). The SFRs located at the tangent to the 3-5~kpc rings might be particularly relevant to NPS. A multi-temperature mixture of gaseous components and cosmic rays rises above the Galactic disk under the action of their initial momentum and buoyancy. Eventually, the plume velocity becomes equal to that of the ambient gas, which rotates with different angular speed than the stars in the disk. As a result, the plumes acquire characteristic bent shapes. An ad hoc model of plumes' trajectories shows an interesting resemblance to the morphology of structures seen in the radio continuum and X-rays., Comment: A&A (accepted, unformatted version)

11. Different behaviour of the gas-phase and stellar metallicity in the central part of MaNGA galaxies

Abstract: We quantified the disparity between gas-phase and stellar metallicity in a large galaxy sample obtained from the MaNGA DR17 survey. We found that the gas metallicity is on average closely aligned with the stellar metallicity in the centers of intermediate-mass galaxies. Conversely, the difference is notably larger within the center of massive galaxies. It reaches about -0.18~dex on average for the most massive galaxies, while for low-mass galaxies, the gas metallicity exhibits a slightly lower value than the stellar metallicity. Moreover, the most prominent instances of a reduced gas-phase metallicity in relation to stellar metallicity were observed within the centers of massive red galaxies with low specific star formation rates. Because of the absence of a correlation between the integral mass fraction of neutral gas and the disparity between gas and stellar metallicity, we suggest that the diminished gas-phase metallicity in the centers of massive galaxies might be attributed to the replenishment of gas-depleted central regions through processes such as radial gas flows or accretion from the circumgalactic medium rather than gas infall from the intergalactic medium., Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures. Abstract: Euclid will collect an enormous amount of data during the mission's lifetime, observing billions of galaxies in the extragalactic sky. Along with traditional template-fitting methods, numerous machine learning algorithms have been presented for computing their photometric redshifts and physical parameters (PPs), requiring significantly less computing effort while producing equivalent performance measures. However, their performance is limited by the quality and amount of input information, to the point where the recovery of some well-established physical relationships between parameters might not be guaranteed. To forecast the reliability of Euclid photo-$z$s and PPs calculations, we produced two mock catalogs simulating Euclid photometry. We simulated the Euclid Wide Survey (EWS) and Euclid Deep Fields (EDF). We tested the performance of a template-fitting algorithm (Phosphoros) and four ML methods in recovering photo-$z$s, PPs (stellar masses and star formation rates), and the SFMS. To mimic the Euclid processing as closely as possible, the models were trained with Phosphoros-recovered labels. For the EWS, we found that the best results are achieved with a mixed labels approach, training the models with wide survey features and labels from the Phosphoros results on deeper photometry, that is, with the best possible set of labels for a given photometry. This imposes a prior, helping the models to better discern cases in degenerate regions of feature space, that is, when galaxies have similar magnitudes and colors but different redshifts and PPs, with performance metrics even better than those found with Phosphoros. We found no more than 3% performance degradation using a COSMOS-like reference sample or removing u band data, which will not be available until after data release DR1. Abstract: We forecast the expected population of active galactic nuclei (AGN) observable in the Euclid Wide Survey (EWS) and Euclid Deep Survey (EDS). Starting from an X-ray luminosity function (XLF) we generate volume-limited samples of the AGN expected in the survey footprints. Each AGN is assigned an SED appropriate for its X-ray luminosity and redshift, with perturbations sampled from empirical distributions. The photometric detectability of each AGN is assessed via mock observation of the assigned SED. We estimate 40 million AGN will be detectable in at least one band in the EWS and 0.24 million in the EDS, corresponding to surface densities of 2.8$\times$10$^{3}$ deg$^{-2}$ and 4.7$\times$10$^{3}$ deg$^{-2}$. Employing colour selection criteria on our simulated data we select a sample of 4.8$\times$10$^{6}$ (331 deg$^{-2}$) AGN in the EWS and 1.7$\times$10$^{4}$ (346 deg$^{-2}$) in the EDS, amounting to 10% and 8% of the AGN detectable in the EWS and EDS. Including ancillary Rubin/LSST bands improves the completeness and purity of AGN selection. These data roughly double the total number of selected AGN to comprise 21% and 15% of the detectable AGN in the EWS and EDS. The total expected sample of colour-selected AGN contains 6.0$\times$10$^{6}$ (74%) unobscured AGN and 2.1$\times$10$^{6}$ (26%) obscured AGN, covering $0.02 \leq z \lesssim 5.2$ and $43 \leq \log_{10} (L_{bol} / erg s^{-1}) \leq 47$. With this simple colour selection, expected surface densities are already comparable to the yield of modern X-ray and mid-infrared surveys of similar area. 14. Local precursors to anomalous dissipation in Navier-Stokes turbulence: Burgers vortex-type models and simulation analysis

Abstract: Anomalous dissipation is a dissipation mechanism of kinetic energy which is established by a sufficiently spatially rough velocity field. It implies that the rescaled mean kinetic energy dissipation rate becomes constant with respect to Reynolds number ${\rm Re}$, the dimensionless parameter that characterizes the strength of turbulence, given that ${\rm Re}\gg 1$. The present study aims at bridging this statistical behavior of high-Reynolds-number turbulence to specific structural building blocks of fluid turbulence -- local vortex stretching configurations which take in the simplest case the form of Burgers' classical vortex stretching model from 1948. We discuss the anomalous dissipation in the framework of Duchon and Robert for this analytical solution of the Navier-Stokes equations, apply the same analysis subsequently to a generalized model of randomly oriented Burgers vortices by Kambe and Hatakeyama, and analyse finally direct numerical simulation data of three-dimensional homogeneous, isotropic box turbulence in this respect. We identify local high-vorticity events in fully developed Navier-Stokes turbulence that approximate the analytical models of strong vortex stretching well. They also correspond to precursors of enhanced anomalous dissipation.

Abstract: Extragalactic globular clusters (EGCs) are an abundant and powerful tracer of galaxy dynamics and formation, and their own formation and evolution is also a matter of extensive debate. The compact nature of globular clusters means that they are hard to spatially resolve and thus study outside the Local Group. In this work we have examined how well EGCs will be detectable in images from the Euclid telescope, using both simulated pre-launch images and the first early-release observations of the Fornax galaxy cluster. The Euclid Wide Survey will provide high-spatial resolution VIS imaging in the broad IE band as well as near-infrared photometry (YE, JE, and HE). We estimate that the galaxies within 100 Mpc in the footprint of the Euclid survey host around 830 000 EGCs of which about 350 000 are within the survey's detection limits. For about half of these EGCs, three infrared colours will be available as well. For any galaxy within 50Mpc the brighter half of its GC luminosity function will be detectable by the Euclid Wide Survey. The detectability of EGCs is mainly driven by the residual surface brightness of their host galaxy. We find that an automated machine-learning EGC-classification method based on real Euclid data of the Fornax galaxy cluster provides an efficient method to generate high purity and high completeness GC candidate catalogues. We confirm that EGCs are spatially resolved compared to pure point sources in VIS images of Fornax. Our analysis of both simulated and first on-sky data show that Euclid will increase the number of GCs accessible with high-resolution imaging substantially compared to previous surveys, and will permit the study of GCs in the outskirts of their hosts. Abstract: The Near-Infrared Spectrometer and Photometer (NISP) on board the Euclid satellite provides multiband photometry and R>=450 slitless grism spectroscopy in the 950-2020nm wavelength range. In this reference article we illuminate the background of NISP's functional and calibration requirements, describe the instrument's integral components, and provide all its key properties. We also sketch the processes needed to understand how NISP operates and is calibrated, and its technical potentials and limitations. Links to articles providing more details and technical background are included. NISP's 16 HAWAII-2RG (H2RG) detectors with a plate scale of 0.3" pix^-1 deliver a field-of-view of 0.57deg^2. In photo mode, NISP reaches a limiting magnitude of ~24.5AB mag in three photometric exposures of about 100s exposure time, for point sources and with a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 5. For spectroscopy, NISP's point-source sensitivity is a SNR = 3.5 detection of an emission line with flux ~2x10^-16erg/s/cm^2 integrated over two resolution elements of 13.4A, in 3x560s grism exposures at 1.6 mu (redshifted Ha). Our calibration includes on-ground and in-flight characterisation and monitoring of detector baseline, dark current, non-linearity, and sensitivity, to guarantee a relative photometric accuracy of better than 1.5%, and relative spectrophotometry to better than 0.7%. The wavelength calibration must be better than 5A. NISP is the state-of-the-art instrument in the NIR for all science beyond small areas available from HST and JWST - and an enormous advance due to its combination of field size and high throughput of telescope and instrument. During Euclid's 6-year survey covering 14000 deg^2 of extragalactic sky, NISP will be the backbone for determining distances of more than a billion galaxies. Abstract: The current standard model of cosmology successfully describes a variety of measurements, but the nature of its main ingredients, dark matter and dark energy, remains unknown. Euclid is a medium-class mission in the Cosmic Vision 2015-2025 programme of the European Space Agency (ESA) that will provide high-resolution optical imaging, as well as near-infrared imaging and spectroscopy, over about 14,000 deg^2 of extragalactic sky. In addition to accurate weak lensing and clustering measurements that probe structure formation over half of the age of the Universe, its primary probes for cosmology, these exquisite data will enable a wide range of science. This paper provides a high-level overview of the mission, summarising the survey characteristics, the various data-processing steps, and data products. Abstract: This paper presents the specification, design, and development of the Visible Camera (VIS) on the ESA Euclid mission. VIS is a large optical-band imager with a field of view of 0.54 deg^2 sampled at 0.1" with an array of 609 Megapixels and spatial resolution of 0.18". It will be used to survey approximately 14,000 deg^2 of extragalactic sky to measure the distortion of galaxies in the redshift range z=0.1-1.5 resulting from weak gravitational lensing, one of the two principal cosmology probes of Euclid. With photometric redshifts, the distribution of dark matter can be mapped in three dimensions, and, from how this has changed with look-back time, the nature of dark energy and theories of gravity can be constrained. The entire VIS focal plane will be transmitted to provide the largest images of the Universe from space to date, reaching m_AB>24.5 with S/N >10 in a single broad I_E~(r+i+z) band over a six year survey. The particularly challenging aspects of the instrument are the control and calibration of observational biases, which lead to stringent performance requirements and calibration regimes. With its combination of spatial resolution, calibration knowledge, depth, and area covering most of the extra-Galactic sky, VIS will also provide a legacy data set for many other fields. This paper discusses the rationale behind the VIS concept and describes the instrument design and development before reporting the pre-launch performance derived from ground calibrations and brief results from the in-orbit commissioning. VIS should reach fainter than m_AB=25 with S/N>10 for galaxies of full-width half-maximum of 0.3" in a 1.3" diameter aperture over the Wide Survey, and m_AB>26.4 for a Deep Survey that will cover more than 50 deg^2. 19. Chemical abundances of LINER galaxies -- Nitrogen abundance estimations

Abstract: In this work, we investigated the nitrogen and oxygen abundances in a sample of galaxies with Low Ionization Nuclear Emission Regions (LINERs) in their nucleus. Optical spectroscopic data (3 600 - 10 000 {\AA}) of 40 LINERs from the Mapping Nearby Galaxies (MaNGA) survey were considered. Only objects classified as retired galaxies, i.e. whose main ionization sources are post-Asymptotic Giant Branch (pAGB) stars, were selected. The abundance estimates were obtained through detailed photoionization models built with the cloudy code to reproduce a set of observational emission line intensities ratios of the sample. Our results show that LINERs have oxygen and nitrogen abundances in the ranges of $ 8.0 \leq 12+\log(O/H) \leq 9.0$ (mean value $8.74\pm 0.27$) and $7.6 \leq 12+\log(N/H) \leq 8.5$ (mean value $8.05\pm 0.25$), respectively. About 70% of the sample have oversolar O/H and N/H abundances. Our abundance estimates are in consonance with those for Seyfert 2 nuclei and H ii regions with the highest metallicity, indicating that these distinct object classes show similar enrichment of the interstellar medium (ISM). The LINERs in our sample are located in the higher N/O region of the N/O versus O/H diagram, showing an expected negative correlation between these two parameters. These results suggest that these LINERs mainly exhibit a secondary nitrogen production and could be acting some other mechanisms that deviate them from the usual theoretical secondary nitrogen production curve and the H ii regions observations. However, we did not find any evidence in our data able to support the literature suggested mechanisms. On the other hand, our results show that LINERs do not present any correlation between the N/O abundances and the stellar masses of the hosting galaxies., Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS

Abstract: The Wide-field Spectroscopic Telescope (WST) is proposed as a new facility dedicated to the efficient delivery of spectroscopic surveys. This white paper summarises the initial concept as well as the corresponding science cases. WST will feature simultaneous operation of a large field-of-view (3 sq. degree), a high multiplex (20,000) multi-object spectrograph (MOS) and a giant 3x3 sq. arcmin integral field spectrograph (IFS). In scientific capability these requirements place WST far ahead of existing and planned facilities. Given the current investment in deep imaging surveys and noting the diagnostic power of spectroscopy, WST will fill a crucial gap in astronomical capability and work synergistically with future ground and space-based facilities. This white paper shows that WST can address outstanding scientific questions in the areas of cosmology; galaxy assembly, evolution, and enrichment, including our own Milky Way; origin of stars and planets; time domain and multi-messenger astrophysics. WST's uniquely rich dataset will deliver unforeseen discoveries in many of these areas. Abstract: We introduce an extended Sobolev scale for vector bundles over smooth closed manifolds and investigate its interpolation properties. This scale is built on the base of the inner product H\"ormander spaces whose order of regularity is given by an arbitrary positive function OR-varying at infinity in the sense of Avakumovi\'c. We prove that this scale is obtained by the interpolation with a function parameter between inner product Sobolev spaces, is closed with respect to the interpolation with a function parameter, and consists of all Hilbert spaces that are interpolation spaces between inner product Sobolev spaces. We also show that the spaces belonging to the scale introduced does not depend (up to equivalence of norms) on the choice of local charts on manifold and local trivializations of the bundle. Moreover, we prove embedding theorems and a duality theorem for this scale. We consider an elliptic pseudodifferential operators acting between vector bundles of the same rank on the extended Sobolev scale. We prove that this operator is bounded and Fredholm on pairs of appropriate H\"ormander spaces. An a priori estimate is established for the solutions and their local regularity is investigated. Abstract: The Euclid mission is expected to image millions of galaxies with high resolution, providing an extensive dataset to study galaxy evolution. We investigate the application of deep learning to predict the detailed morphologies of galaxies in Euclid using Zoobot a convolutional neural network pretrained with 450000 galaxies from the Galaxy Zoo project. We adapted Zoobot for emulated Euclid images, generated based on Hubble Space Telescope COSMOS images, and with labels provided by volunteers in the Galaxy Zoo: Hubble project. We demonstrate that the trained Zoobot model successfully measures detailed morphology for emulated Euclid images. It effectively predicts whether a galaxy has features and identifies and characterises various features such as spiral arms, clumps, bars, disks, and central bulges. When compared to volunteer classifications Zoobot achieves mean vote fraction deviations of less than 12% and an accuracy above 91% for the confident volunteer classifications across most morphology types. However, the performance varies depending on the specific morphological class. For the global classes such as disk or smooth galaxies, the mean deviations are less than 10%, with only 1000 training galaxies necessary to reach this performance. For more detailed structures and complex tasks like detecting and counting spiral arms or clumps, the deviations are slightly higher, around 12% with 60000 galaxies used for training. In order to enhance the performance on complex morphologies, we anticipate that a larger pool of labelled galaxies is needed, which could be obtained using crowdsourcing. Finally, our findings imply that the model can be effectively adapted to new morphological labels. We demonstrate this adaptability by applying Zoobot to peculiar galaxies. Abstract: In anticipation of the Euclid Wide and Deep Surveys, we present optical emission-line predictions at intermediate redshifts from 0.4 to 2.5. Our approach combines a mock light cone from the GAEA semi-analytic model to self-consistently model nebular emission from HII regions, narrow-line regions of active galactic nuclei (AGN), and evolved stellar populations. Our analysis focuses on seven optical emission lines: H$\alpha$, H$\beta$, [SII]$\lambda\lambda 6717, 6731$, [NII]$\lambda 6584$, [OI]$\lambda 6300$, [OIII]$\lambda 5007$, and [OII]$\lambda\lambda 3727, 3729$. We find that Euclid will predominantly observe massive, star-forming, and metal-rich line-emitters. Interstellar dust, modelled using a Calzetti law with mass-dependent scaling, may decrease observable percentages by a further 20-30% with respect to our underlying emission-line populations from GAEA. We predict Euclid to observe around 30-70% of H$\alpha$-, [NII]-, [SII]-, and [OIII]-emitting galaxies at redshift below 1 and under 10% at higher redshift. Observability of H$\beta$-, [OII]-, and [OI]- emission is limited to below 5%. For the Euclid-observable sample, we find that BPT diagrams can effectively distinguish between different galaxy types up to around redshift 1.8, attributed to the bias toward metal-rich systems. Moreover, we show that the relationships of H$\alpha$ and [OIII]+H$\beta$ to the star-formation rate, and the [OIII]-AGN luminosity relation, exhibit minimal changes with increasing redshift. Based on line ratios [NII]/H$\alpha$, [NII]/[OII], and [NII]/[SII], we further propose novel z-invariant tracers for the black hole accretion rate-to-star formation rate ratio. Lastly, we find that commonly used metallicity estimators display gradual shifts in normalisations with increasing redshift, while maintaining the overall shape of local calibrations. Abstract: Simeis 147 (S147, G180.0-01.7, "Spaghetti nebula") is a supernova remnant (SNR) extensively studied across the entire electromagnetic spectrum, from radio to giga-electronvolt $\gamma$-rays, except in X-rays. Here, we report the first detection of significant X-ray emission from the entire SNR using data of the extended ROentgen Survey Imaging Telescope Array (eROSITA) onboard the Russian-German Spektrum Roentgen Gamma (SRG). The object is located at the Galactic anticenter, and its 3 deg size classifies it among the largest SNRs ever detected in X-rays. By employing $\sim$15 years of Fermi-LAT data, our study confirms the association of the remnant with a spatially coincident diffuse giga-electronvolt excess, namely 4FGL J0540.3+2756e or FGES J0537.6+2751. The X-ray emission is purely thermal, exhibiting strong O, Ne, and Mg lines; whereas it lacks heavier-Z elements. The emission is mainly confined to the 0.5-1.0 keV band; no significant emission is detected above 2.0 keV. Both a collisional plasma model in equilibrium and a model of nonequilibrium collisional plasma can fit the total spectrum. While the equilibrium model -- though statistically disfavored -- cannot be excluded by X-ray fitting, only the absorption column of the nonequilibrium model is consistent with expectations derived from optical extinction data. Adopting an expansion in a homogeneous medium of typical interstellar medium (ISM) density, the general SNR properties are broadly consistent with an expansion model that yields an estimated age of $\sim0.66-2\times10^{5}$ yr, that is a rather old age. The preference for an X-ray-emitting plasma in nonequilibrium, however, adds to the observational evidence that favors a substantially younger age. Abstract: The Simeis~147 nebula (S147), particularly well known for a spectacular net of ${\rm H}_\alpha$-emitting filaments, is often considered one of the largest and oldest known supernova remnants in the Milky Way. Here, and in a companion paper, we present studies of X-ray emission from the S147 nebula using the data of SRG/eROSITA All-Sky Survey observations. In this paper, we argue that many inferred properties of the X-ray emitting gas are broadly consistent with a scenario of the supernova explosion in a low-density cavity, e.g. a wind-blown-bubble. This scenario assumes that a $\sim 20\,{\rm M_\odot}$ progenitor star has had small velocity with respect to the ambient ISM, so it stayed close to the center of a dense shell created during its Main Sequence evolution till the moment of the core-collapse explosion. The ejecta first propagate through the low-density cavity until they collide with the dense shell, and only then the reverse shock goes deeper into the ejecta and powers the observed X-ray emission of the nebula. Abstract: The European Space Agency's Euclid mission is one of the upcoming generation of large-scale cosmology surveys, which will map the large-scale structure in the Universe with unprecedented precision. The development and validation of the SGS pipeline requires state-of-the-art simulations with a high level of complexity and accuracy that include subtle instrumental features not accounted for previously as well as faster algorithms for the large-scale production of the expected Euclid data products. In this paper, we present the Euclid SGS simulation framework as applied in a large-scale end-to-end simulation exercise named Science Challenge 8. Our simulation pipeline enables the swift production of detailed image simulations for the construction and validation of the Euclid mission during its qualification phase and will serve as a reference throughout operations. Our end-to-end simulation framework starts with the production of a large cosmological N-body & mock galaxy catalogue simulation. We perform a selection of galaxies down to I_E=26 and 28 mag, respectively, for a Euclid Wide Survey spanning 165 deg^2 and a 1 deg^2 Euclid Deep Survey. We build realistic stellar density catalogues containing Milky Way-like stars down to H<26. Using the latest instrumental models for both the Euclid instruments and spacecraft as well as Euclid-like observing sequences, we emulate with high fidelity Euclid satellite imaging throughout the mission's lifetime. We present the SC8 data set consisting of overlapping visible and near-infrared Euclid Wide Survey and Euclid Deep Survey imaging and low-resolution spectroscopy along with ground-based. Abstract: The Jahn-Teller effect (JTE) is central to the understanding of the physical and chemical properties of a broad variety of molecules and materials. Whereas the manifestations of the JTE on stationary properties of matter are relatively well studied, the study of JTE-induced dynamics is still in its infancy, largely owing to its ultrafast and non-adiabatic nature. For example, the time scales reported for the distortion of CH$_4^+$ from the initial $T_{\rm d}$ geometry to a nominal $C_{\rm 2v}$ relaxed structure range from 1.85~fs over 10$\pm$2~fs to 20$\pm$7~fs. Here, by combining element-specific attosecond transient-absorption spectroscopy and quantum-dynamics simulations, we show that the initial electronic relaxation occurs within 5~fs and that the subsequent nuclear dynamics are dominated by the $Q_2$ scissoring and $Q_1$ symmetric stretching modes, which dephase in 41$\pm$10~fs and 13$\pm$3~fs, respectively. Significant structural relaxation is found to take place only along the e-symmetry $Q_2$ mode. These results demonstrate that CH$_4^+$ created by ionization of CH$_4$ is best thought of as a highly fluxional species that possesses a long-time-averaged vibrational distribution centered around a $D_{\rm 2d}$ structure. Abstract: The statistical distribution and evolution of key properties (e.g. accretion rate, mass, or spin) of active galactic nuclei (AGN), remain an open debate in astrophysics. The ESA Euclid space mission, launched on July 1st 2023, promises a breakthrough in this field. We create detailed mock catalogues of AGN spectra, from the rest-frame near-infrared down to the ultraviolet, including emission lines, to simulate what Euclid will observe for both obscured (type 2) and unobscured (type 1) AGN. We concentrate on the red grisms of the NISP instrument, which will be used for the wide-field survey, opening a new window for spectroscopic AGN studies in the near-infrared. We quantify the efficiency in the redshift determination as well as in retrieving the emission line flux of the H$\alpha$+[NII] complex as Euclid is mainly focused on this emission line as it is expected to be the brightest one in the probed redshift range. Spectroscopic redshifts are measured for 83% of the simulated AGN in the interval where the H$\alpha$+[NII] is visible (0.892x10^{-16}$ erg s$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$, encompassing the peak of AGN activity at $z\simeq 1-1.5$) within the spectral coverage of the red grism. Outside this redshift range, the measurement efficiency decreases significantly. Overall, a spectroscopic redshift is correctly determined for ~90% of type 2 AGN down to an emission line flux of $3x10^{-16}$ erg s$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$, and for type 1 AGN down to $8.5x10^{-16}$ erg s$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$. Recovered black hole mass values show a small offset with respect to the input values ~10%, but the agreement is good overall. With such a high spectroscopic coverage at z<2, we will be able to measure AGN demography, scaling relations, and clustering from the epoch of the peak of AGN activity down to the present-day Universe for hundreds of thousand AGN with homogeneous spectroscopic information., Comment: 29 pages, 23 figures. Abstract: The NA48/2 experiment at CERN reports the first observation of the $K^{\pm} \rightarrow \pi^{0} \pi^{0} \mu^{\pm} \nu$ decay based on a sample of 2437 candidates with 15% background contamination collected in 2003--2004. The decay branching ratio in the kinematic region of the squared dilepton mass above $0.03$~GeV$^2/c^4$ is measured to be $(0.65 \pm 0.03) \times 10^{-6}$. The extrapolation to the full kinematic space, using a specific model, is found to be $(3.45 \pm 0.16) \times 10^{-6}$, in agreement with chiral perturbation theory predictions., Comment: 16 pages, 9 figures

45. Variations of the HCO$^{+}$, HCN, HNC, N$_2$H$^+$ and NH$_{3}$ deuterium fractionation in high-mass star-forming regions

Abstract: We use spectra and maps of the $J=1-0$ and $J=2-1$ DCO$^{+}$, DCN, DNC, $\rm N_2D^+$ lines and $1_{11}-1_{01}$ ortho- and para-NH$_{2}$D lines, obtained with the IRAM-30m telescope, as well as observations of their hydrogenated isotopologues to study deuteration processes in five high-mass star-forming regions. The temperature was estimated from CH$_3$CCH lines, also observed with the IRAM-30m telescope, and from NH$_3$ lines, observed with the 100-m radio telescope in Effelsberg, as well as using the integrated intensity ratios of the $J=1-0$ H$^{13}$CN and HN$^{13}$C lines and their main isotopologues. Applying a non-LTE radiative transfer model with RADEX, the gas density and the molecular column densities were estimated. D/H ratios are $0.001-0.05$ for DCO$^{+}$, $0.001-0.02$ for DCN, $0.001-0.05$ for DNC and $0.02-0.4$ for NH$_{2}$D. The D/H ratios decrease with increasing temperature in the range of $\rm 20-40 \,K$ and slightly vary at densities $n(\rm H_2) \sim 10^4-10^6\, cm^{-3}$. The deuterium fraction of $\rm N_2H^{+}$ is $0.008-0.1$ at temperatures in the range of $\rm 20-25\, K$ and at a density of $\sim 10^5\, \rm cm^{-3}$. We also estimate relative abundances and find $ \sim 10^{-11}-10^{-9}$ for DCO$^{+}$ and DNC, $ \sim 10^{-11}-10^{-10}$ for $\rm N_2D^+$ and $ \sim 10^{-10}-10^{-8}$ for NH$_{2}$D. The relative abundances of these species decrease with increasing temperature. However, the DCN/H$_2$ ratio is almost constant ($\sim 10^{-10}$). 46. Fragmentation and dynamics of dense gas structures in the proximity of massive young stellar object W42-MME

Abstract: We present an analysis of the dense gas structures in the immediate surroundings of the massive young stellar object (MYSO) W42-MME, using the high-resolution (0$''$.31$\times$0$''$.25) ALMA dust continuum and molecular line data. We performed a dendrogram analysis of H$^{13}$CO$^{+}$ (4-3) line data to study multi-scale structures and their spatio-kinematic properties, and analyzed the fragmentation and dynamics of dense structures down to $\sim$2000 AU scale. Our results reveal 19 dense gas structures, out of which 12 are leaves and 7 are branches in dendrogram terminology. These structures exhibit transonic-supersonic gas motions (1$<\mathcal{M}<5$) with overvirial states ($\alpha_{\rm vir}\geq2$). The non-thermal velocity dispersion-size relation ($\sigma_{\rm nt}-L$) of dendrogram structures shows a weak negative correlation, while the velocity dispersion across the sky ($\delta\mathit{V_{\rm lsr}}$) correlates positively with structure size ($L$). Velocity structure function ($S_{2}(l)^{1/2}$) analysis of H$^{13}$CO$^{+}$ data reveals strong power-law dependencies with lag ($l$) up to a scale length of $\lesssim$ 6000 AU. The mass-size ($M-R$) relation of dendrogram structures shows a positive correlation with power-law index of 1.73$\pm$0.23, and the leaf L17 hosting W42-MME meets the mass-size conditions for massive star formation. Blue asymmetry is observed in the H$^{12}$CO$^{+}$ (4-3) line profiles of most of the leaves, indicating infall. 47. Discovery of a one-sided radio filament of PSR J0538+2817 in S147: escape of relativistic PWN leptons into surrounding supernova remnant?

Abstract: We report the discovery of a faint radio filament near PSR J0538+2817 in the NVSS, CGPS, and the Rapid ASKAP Continuum Survey data. This pulsar is plausibly associated with the supernova that gave rise to the Spaghetti Nebula (Simeis 147). The structure is one-sided and appears to be almost aligned (within 17 degrees) with the direction of the pulsar's proper motion, but in contrast to the known cases of pulsar radio tails, it is located ahead of the pulsar. At the same time, this direction is also approximately (within 5 degrees) perpendicular to the axis of the extended non-thermal X-ray emission around the pulsar. No X-ray or optical emission is detected from the filament region, although the end point of the radio filament appears to be adjacent to a filament of H$_\alpha$ emission. We speculate that this structure might represent a filament connecting pulsar wind nebula with the ambient interstellar medium filled with relativistic electrons escaping the pulsar nebula, i.e. a radio analogue of X-ray filaments of Guitar and Lighthouse PWNs and filaments of non-thermal radio emission in the Galactic Center., Comment: 9 pages, 10 figures, accepted to MNRAS

Abstract: We investigate several panchromatic scaling relations (SRs) for the dwarf irregular galaxy NGC 1569 using IFU data from the Metal-THINGS Survey. Among the spatially resolved properties analyzed, we explore SRs between the stellar mass, SFR, molecular gas, total gas, baryonic mass, gas metallicity, gas fraction, SFE and effective oxygen yields. Such multiwavelength SRs are analyzed at a spatial resolution of 180 pc, by combining our IFU observations with data from the surveys THINGS, CARMA, and archival data from DustPedia. Although we recover several known relations, our slopes are different to previously reported ones. Our star formation main sequence, Kennicutt-Schmidt (KS) and molecular KS relations show higher SFRs, lower scatter, and higher correlations, with steeper (1.21), and flatter slopes (0.96, 0.58) respectively. The shape of the SRs including metallicity, stellar mass, and gas fraction are flat, with an average value of 12+log(O/H) $\sim$ 8.12 dex. The baryonic mass vs effective oxygen yields, and the stellar, gas and baryonic mass vs SFE show higher dispersions and lower correlations. Since we use the dust mass as a tracer of gas mass, we derive the Dust-to-Gas Ratio and the CO luminosity-to-molecular gas mass conversion factors, showing differences of 0.16 and 0.95 dex for the total and molecular gas surface density, respectively, in comparison to previously reported values. We use a self regulated feedback model to conclude that stellar feedback plays an important role generating outflows in NGC 1569.

50. Intensive Care for Anaphylaxis in Children: Current Trends

Abstract: Anaphylaxis is an acute allergic reaction with rapid clinical development and risk of death. This article provides an analysis of literary sources devoted to intensive care of anaphylaxis in childhood. It was revealed that the prevalence of anaphylaxis is increasing, in children and adolescents as well. The main triggers of anaphylaxis in pediatric practice include food products, insect bites and drugs. Anaphylaxis is an IgE-mediated hypersensitivity reaction of type 1, characterized by the release of chemical mediators that lead to smooth muscle contraction, increased permeability and vasodilation and vagal activation. Clinically, anaphylaxis is manifested by allergic skin rash, angioedema, obstruction of the upper respiratory tract (URT), broncho-obstructive syndrome (BOS), arterial hypotension, tachycardia. Intensive care for anaphylaxis in children begins with stabilization of the condition: stopping the entry of a possible allergen into the body, hospitalization in the anesthesiology and intensive care unit, restoring patency of the URT, conducting oxygen therapy, monitoring vital functions. The first-line drug for the treatment of anaphylaxis in children is adrenaline at a dose of 0.01 mg/kg, which stops all the main pathophysiological links of anaphylaxis. Adrenaline autoinjectors are not used in the Russian Federation. Second-line drugs for intensive care for anaphylaxis in children include glucocorticosteroids (GCS), antihistamines, bronchodilators and infusion therapy. The effectiveness of GCS in anaphylaxis in children has not been proven, antihistamines can relieve skin manifestations of an allergic reaction, but do not affect vital disorders. Bronchodilators reduce BOS and are an additional treatment, while infusion therapy eliminates hypovolemia. Knowledge and timely implementation of modern care algorithms for anaphylaxis in children and adolescents will improve the quality of emergency care and reduce the risk of fatal outcomes in this pathology.
