Abstract

This paper present an assessment of the energy efficiency of various combinations of piston stages of an internal combustion engine, a compressor, and a Rankine engine as part of piston motor-compressor units based on modernized marine diesel engines. An eight-cylinder single-row diesel engine 8Ch23/30-1 is chosen as the object of research, the base of which is used as a single platform for creating powertechnology units for various purposes and power. The proposed variants for converting the original engine allow, with minimal costs for the development of design and manufacturing technology, to create gas engine compressor units with reduced fuel consumption and improved weight and size characteristics in comparison with the known mobile compressor stations driven by diesel internal combustion engines. In the paper, on the basis of the developed mathematical models of working processes, the possibility of joint operation of diesel cylinders with piston expanders of the Rankine cycle and one or more stages of a piston compressor is assessed. Various possible combinations of diesel cylinders, compressor cylinders and expander cylinders are considered, as well as the dependences of engine power and compressor performance depending on the number of compressor stages and the number of diesel power cylinders used.

2. Implementing Research-Based Learning in Kazakhstan's Pre-Service Teacher Education

Abstract

This study aims to examine the formal integration of scientific research within teacher preparation programs at universities in Kazakhstan, aiming to enhance the research capacity of pre-service teachers. It introduces a research-based learning (RBL) model for delivering research components in postgraduate programs, tailored to address individual research interests through defined modules and directed research projects. The study's objective is to examine the effectiveness of implementing the RBL model in building pre-service teachers' research capacity. Using a quasiexperimental pretest-posttest design, the study employs a questionnaire survey to evaluate participants' self-perceived research skills and knowledge before and after the intervention, assessing the development of their research capability dimensions. Expert assessment is utilized to examine research performance and writing skills among pre-service teachers. The study involved students from language teacher education departments, specifically 120 postgraduate (master's level) students from K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University and Baishev University in Aktobe, Kazakhstan. The research findings highlight the effectiveness of the RBL model in training preservice teachers across various stages of the research process. This includes formulating research questions, reviewing literature, planning research activities, clarifying methodologies, conducting investigations, analyzing data, and presenting results. The study shows that the RBL model enhances students' understanding of research, their ability to plan and design research projects, knowledge of research methodology, data analysis skills, research writing abilities, and capabilities in publishing and presenting research. These findings offer valuable insights for university instructors and suggest avenues for further investigation. The study also examines potential implications for how teacher education research is conducted and how programs are designed.

3. Development of the Preschool Teachers' Partnership Competence

Abstract

The aim of this research was to study the current level of preschool teachers' partnership competence in the aspect of interacting in the teaching staff. During the research, questionnaires and statistical methods of analysis were conducted. The results of the study show that 82% of the respondents describe the psychological climate in the team as moderately favourable, 6% note its high level, 9% feel low favourableness, and 3% see it as unfavourable. The conducted research revealed a positive moderate correlation between the partnership competence level and the psychological climate level in the team of preschool teachers. Therefore, a positive psychological climate, characterized by mutual understanding, support and openness, contributes to creating a favorable environment for partnership interaction. When teachers feel comfortable and supported in the team, they are more inclined to work together, share experiences and provide mutual support. The area of further research is to identify the relationship between the professional development of teachers and their partnership competence, as well as to study the impact of distance learning on partnership interaction between teachers and ways of its development in the digital environment.

4. WINTER RYE BREEDING ON HIGH AND LOW WATER EXTRACT VISCOSITY

Abstract

The results of divergent selection among winter rye varieties ‘Alfa’ and ‘Moskovskaya 12’ according to their water extract viscosity (WEV) have been presented. The efficiency of the selection depended on variety geno type and on direction of the selection. Selection in a plus-direction was more efficient, than in a minus-direction. The asymmetry of the result revealed in the first cycle of the selection and continued in the further ones. The rye populations with high viscosity had better bread-making characteristics than those ones with low viscosity. They surpassed the other varieties in a higher nature of grain (on 4,9%), size of grain (on 14,8%), falling number (on 90s), a rate of amylogram (on 328 e.a.), temperature of gelatinization (on 2,5°С). The varieties with low viscosity produced deliquescent bread with a large pored, soft crumb. The reasons of asymmetry and varieties’ response to selection are being discussed.

5. ECOLOGICAL STABILITY OF GRAIN CROP VARIETIES AND TASKS OF BREEDING

Abstract

The article presents the results of the comparative study of the new and old varieties of six grain crops (winter rye, winter and spring wheat, winter triticale, spring barley, oats), conducted among the crops according to the range of environmental varying (CV), phenotypic stability (SF) and ecologic adaptability (bi) of productivity trait. The study shows that the new varieties of all crops excluding rye possess higher variability of productivity than the old varieties. The varieties with high potential of productivity the share of its variability, caused by environmental factors, increases, but the effect of variety gene type on the variability reduces. The conclusion has been made that if the potential productivity of the varieties increases, their environmental stability decreases and it can’t be raised with the breeding technologies. The breeding efficiency will be higher if its strategy is directed to the special adaptation of the varieties to the dominant conditions of the region. The priority should be given to the breeding of the varieties on the adaptability to the contrasting weather conditions. The ways of improvement of the breeding on the environmental stability are being discussed.

Abstract

Fifty interline hybrids of F1 of winter rye obtained from crossing of 25 sterile inbred lines with male fertile lines ‘N-1172’ and ‘N-1185’ as testers have been studied. The tests were carried out on the plot of 8.0m2 in a triple sequence with seeding rate of 500 kernels per 1m2. The productivity of the hybrids F1 ranged from 70.2 till 90.6 hwt/ha (tester ‘N-1172’) and from 71.5 till 102.6 hwt/ha (tester ‘N-1185’). On the whole the number of hybrids F1 with significant heterosis of productivity was 13 per 50 (or 26%). Both a general and specific combining ability (Ffact.= 2.41 and 2.32 respectively with F05 =1.63) contributed a lot in the dispersion of the trait of productivity. The sterile analogs of the lines ‘N-325’, ‘N-1078’, ‘N-1179’, ‘N-1238’,‘N-1276’ and the line-tester ‘N-1185’ showed a reliably high GCA. The lines ‘N-48’, ‘N-71’, ‘N-463’, ‘N-700’ and ‘N-1179’ showed high effect of SCA. A significant difference in a combining value of the studied line-testers has been established. It has been noted that the level of their own productivity is the most important sign for selection of the lines on GCA.

7. MDS-ViTNet: Improving saliency prediction for Eye-Tracking with Vision Transformer

Abstract

In this paper, we present a novel methodology we call MDS-ViTNet (Multi Decoder Saliency by Vision Transformer Network) for enhancing visual saliency prediction or eye-tracking. This approach holds significant potential for diverse fields, including marketing, medicine, robotics, and retail. We propose a network architecture that leverages the Vision Transformer, moving beyond the conventional ImageNet backbone. The framework adopts an encoder-decoder structure, with the encoder utilizing a Swin transformer to efficiently embed most important features. This process involves a Transfer Learning method, wherein layers from the Vision Transformer are converted by the Encoder Transformer and seamlessly integrated into a CNN Decoder. This methodology ensures minimal information loss from the original input image. The decoder employs a multi-decoding technique, utilizing dual decoders to generate two distinct attention maps. These maps are subsequently combined into a singular output via an additional CNN model. Our trained model MDS-ViTNet achieves state-of-the-art results across several benchmarks. Committed to fostering further collaboration, we intend to make our code, models, and datasets accessible to the public.

Abstract

This article describes the 2023 IEEE Low-Power Computer Vision Challenge (LPCVC). Since 2015, LPCVC has been an international competition devoted to tackling the challenge of computer vision (CV) on edge devices. Most CV researchers focus on improving accuracy, at the expense of ever-growing sizes of machine models. LPCVC balances accuracy with resource requirements. Winners must achieve high accuracy with short execution time when their CV solutions run on an embedded device, such as Raspberry PI or Nvidia Jetson Nano. The vision problem for 2023 LPCVC is segmentation of images acquired by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs, also called drones) after disasters. The 2023 LPCVC attracted 60 international teams that submitted 676 solutions during the submission window of one month. Abstract

A new concept of a multi-valued associative memory is introduced, generalizing a similar one in fuzzy neural networks. We expand the results on fuzzy associative memory with thresholds, to the case of a multi-valued one: we introduce the novel concept of such a network without numbers, investigate its properties, and give a learning algorithm in the multi-valued case. We discovered conditions under which it is possible to store given pairs of network variable patterns in such a multi-valued associative memory. In the multi-valued neural network, all variables are not numbers, but elements or subsets of a lattice, i.e., they are all only partially-ordered. Lattice operations are used to build the network output by inputs. In this paper, the lattice is assumed to be Brouwer and determines the implication used, together with other lattice operations, to determine the neural network output. Abstract

The complication of production processes and rapid scientific and technological progress increase the importance of this social group in Russian society. This scientific article attempts to study the level of implementation of career guidance in the system of educational work of an educational institution of secondary professional level. Using a system-synergetic approach and various methods of scientific research, the authors revealed not only the state of the problem under consideration but also determined the relevance of such research in contemporary conditions. Based on the obtained data, a theoretical universal model of educational work has been developed, which assumes the formation of value orientations among young people in the course of its implementation. The student professional development model concerning the educational activities of the College consists of three interrelated units: target, substantive-operational, and evaluation- performance blocks. The model provides self-development of the individual through the cardinal renewal of all the above-mentioned components, and the formation of general cultural competencies. The main advantage of the created model is the development of complete professionalism through the implementation of career growth mechanisms in students, as well as the orientation of young people to actively search for innovative conditions for professional self-actualization and civic-mindedness.

Abstract

Carefully designed micro and nanocarriers can provide significant advantages over conventional macroscopic counterparts in biomedical applications. The set of requirements including a high loading capacity, triggered release mechanisms, biocompatibility, and biodegradability should be considered for the successful delivery realization. Porous calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is one of the most promising platforms, which can encompass all the beforehand mentioned requirements. Here, we study both the particles formation and biological applicability of CaCO3. In particular, anisotropic differently shaped CaCO3 particles were synthesized using green sustainable approach based on co-precipitation of calcium chloride and sodium carbonate/bicarbonate at different ratios in the presence of organic additives. The impact of salts concentrations, reaction time, as well as organic additives was systematically researched to achieve controllable and reliable design of CaCO3 particles. It has been demonstrated that the crystallinity (vaterite or calcite phase) of particles depends on the initial salts concentrations. The loading capacity of prepared CaCO3 particles is determined by their surface properties such as specific surface area, pore size and zeta-potential. Differently shaped CaCO3 particles (spheroids, ellipsoids, toroids) were used to evaluate their uptake efficiency on the example of C6 glioma cells. The results show that the ellipsoidal particles possess a higher probability for internalization by cancer cells. All tested particles were also found to have a good biocompatibility. The capability to design physicochemical properties of CaCO3 particles has a significant impact on drug delivery applications, since the particles geometry substantially affects cell behavior (internalization, toxicity) and allows outperforming standard spherical counterparts.

Abstract

The Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) in Darmstadt, Germany, provides unique possibilities for a new generation of hadron-, nuclear- and atomic physics experiments. The future antiProton ANnihilations at DArmstadt (PANDA or $\overline{\rm P}$ANDA) experiment at FAIR will offer a broad physics programme, covering different aspects of the strong interaction. Understanding the latter in the non-perturbative regime remains one of the greatest challenges in contemporary physics. The antiproton-nucleon interaction studied with PANDA provides crucial tests in this area. Furthermore, the high-intensity, low-energy domain of PANDA allows for searches for physics beyond the Standard Model, e.g. through high precision symmetry tests. This paper takes into account a staged approach for the detector setup and for the delivered luminosity from the accelerator. The available detector setup at the time of the delivery of the first antiproton beams in the HESR storage ring is referred to as the \textit{Phase One} setup.
