Today, car safety has become the main concern for every car manufacturer in Malaysia. It requires good employees and management practices in sustaining the value of safety features in producing cars. Human resource plays a greater role in every organization including the car manufacturing industry. The value of a company is greater when they have expertise in their organization, knowledgeable workers and a good working environment in terms of facilities, organizational support, and management practices. This paper analyses human resource practices in the car manufacturing industry in terms of training and development and working environment by using the Job Characteristic Model (JCM). Despite the technologically driven industry, the human touch is crucial - an employee at all levels in the car manufacturing industry needs to be aware of the business goal, vision and mission of the company in producing the safest car. This study concludes that human resource practices have a significant relationship in producing safer cars in terms of training and development. This study warrants future research where human resource practices should be considered a crucial role in the technical and engineering area.

As the pandemic of Covid 19 has directly affected the business industry, the business model has changed, including the logistics industry, especially the courier company. Courier company has benefited the most during this pandemic situation as the e-commerce business flourished. Enhanced service by courier company is crucial as stiff competition in the industry. Therefore, this study explores the impact of customer service, insurance, and luggage delivery on logistics customer satisfaction. A quantitative method was employed to analyse the effects of enhanced services of customer services, insurance, and luggage delivery towards logistics customer satisfaction, where 384 responses were collected from respondents identified as active users of courier services for the last 12 months. IBM SPSS was used to analyse the response collected using descriptive, reliability and Pearson Correlation analysis. As a result, it is justifiable that customer service, insurance, and luggage delivery positively impact logistics customer satisfactio. © 2021 Karadeniz Technical University. All rights reserved.

This paper aims to examine the impact of the Covid-19 MCO on child care performance and the recovery strategies to be implemented for post-MCO outbreaks. The quantitative approach is used to investigate the impact of the Covid-19 MCO and to plan recovery strategies based on the questionnaire survey conducted by the child care provider. The paper discusses the provider of child care in Malaysia and shows that Covid-19 Movement Control Order (MCO) affects most child care operations in terms of their cash flow and performance. This study represented only child care providers in Malaysia's northern states who are willing to participate. Consequently, the research suggested that the holistic area in Malaysia should be covered. Extensive research is thus warranted. Child care providers should consider the recovery planning strategy for their business survival due to MCO enforcement. The paper examines the global issues of Covid-19 that lead to a partial lockdown or Movement Control Order (MCO) where the business operation is indirectly adversely affected, especially in the child care industry scenario in Malaysia. © 2021 Karadeniz Technical University. The automotive industry is among the prominent industry contributing to the Malaysian GDP rose by 3.6%, with a value of RM 40 billion in 2016. The automotive industry is one of the fastest-growing economic sectors in all other sectors with the primary purpose of providing safe and accessible transportation for the world's increasing population. The vehicle owner and demand increase, but in the same way, road traffic accidents reported higher each year even though ASEAN NCAP has been introduced to improve the car safety level. Thus, this study aims to investigate further the technology shift and design features as external and internal environmental scanning towards car safety design and manufacturing from car manufacturer perspectives

Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine the Malaysian government's actions towards the aviation industry to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic and the transition phase from pandemic to endemic. Transition phase refers to a temporary period before the country could fully enter the endemic phase which is subject to an announcement by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Theoretical framework:The study on air transport affected by pandemic and industry action toward the endemic phase. This study refers to the conceptual framework for emergency department design in a pandemic by Aujirapongpan (2023): Relationship between state, hospital and ED in pandemic preparedness planning and response. Design/methodology/approach: The approach used is qualitative research that are observation and literature review. Findings: The results demonstrate the Malaysian government's actions during the transition period from pandemic to endemic. Restrictions on travel between areas cause the public to be unable to move at will, causing passengers to be unable to buy plane tickets. The government's actions have indeed had an impact on the airline company's income. Among the significant effects are the workers who were laid off in the era of the pandemic. At the same time, the government is also trying to help airlines financially to survive while waiting for the endemic period. The Malaysian government does not have a specific framework for the airline industry to face the pandemic, however, the Malaysian government gives a quick reaction to control the situation. Research, Practical & Social implications: The study gives comparative responses on the aviation industry by the government when faced with a pandemic, as well as planning for the transition to the endemic phase. Originality/value: The result indicates the government participation and action changes of the air transport operation on the Covid-19 pandemic to endemic transition phase.

This research aims to investigate the relationship between the technology capability and car manufacturer understanding and awareness of the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP). The surveys were performed to collect the data among Malaysian car manufacturers and 90 sets of questionnaires were returned and analysed using SPSS software with the main statistical analysis highlighted are Pearson correlation and multiple regression to examine the research hypothesis. Interviews were also conducted among the car manufacturers to investigate further the research objective. The research findings concluded that there is a significant relationship between the technology capability and car manufacturers on their understanding and awareness of the ASEAN NCAP requirements. Hence, this study proved that technology capability is the essential factor for car manufacturers and it is one of the main concerns for them in producing a new safer car design.

In the new globalisation world, organisation took the virtual teams approach as initiative to become more dynamic and innovative to sustain in the new business transformation era. Communicate across time, boundaries and culture become a common practices into new concept of virtual team landscape. Despite an increase implementation virtual approach in organizations, there is little research has been done in discovering virtual-leader capabilities in managing construction industry. In spite, this research to investigate e-leader competency in managing project operational associated to communication process in managing Industrialised Building System (IBS) project. The data were obtained in this research from literature review and followed by semi-structured face to face interviews with 5 experienced stakeholders from IBS contractors in Malaysia. The result from this study showed e-leader face a unique challenges compare to the conventional teams especially on building trust, communication, diversity and distance. E-leader have to set a clear direction and strategies in developing a good management performance and team development process by create a team orientation which included motivation, building positive effect and shaping perception.

Customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance for a company to improve its management, service and quality. The aim of this research study is therefore to investigate what are the critical factors in the satisfaction of the parent with childcare services. The purpose of this study is to examine several effects of predictors (eg. training, reward, motivation) on employee performance in the manufacturing sector. Organization needs to put more concerns about employee performance to ensure they could retain their performance because this can contribute to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the country. To provide some empirical evidences on the performance among the manufacturing employees this study has been conducted in one company located in the Northern Region of Peninsular Malaysia. A number of 355 respondents have been participated in this study. Training, reward and motivation have been tested as the independent variables in this study. Meanwhile, employees’ performance has been examined as the dependent variable in this study. The questionnaires comprised of 28 items based on Likert Scale ranged from strongly disagree (1) to strongly agree (5). In this study, data is collected from 355 employees based on the simple random sampling technique. Results presented that training and reward had significant and positive relationships with employee performance. Interestingly, results revealed that motivation had significant and negative relationship with employee performance in this study. Therefore, motivation did not give great impact on employee performance based on the study findings. Hence, this study concluded that the organization should emphasis on employees’ training and reward to ensure the employees’ performance can be increased.

This research explores the impact of organizational culture on expatriate’s working performance at Universiti Malaysia Perlis. The factors that affect expatriate’s job performance are important in enabling expatriates to acquire essential competencies that allow them to complete their tasks in workplace. This research was a survey (questionnaires) method. Data were gathered from 150 respondents consist of expatriates who were academicians and non-academician of legal age 18 and above on random basis from several academic schools in UniMAP. The analysis of the study uses Mi-crosoft Excel and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Software Version 16.0. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis. According to the results presented, language barriers and communication style were found to have significant effects on expatriate’s working performance. Therefore, from the results of two hypotheses tested there are meaningful relationships between language barriers and communication style toward expatriates working performance at Universiti Malaysia Perlis. This research has accumulated an empirical knowledge base which concentrates on coping behaviors for foreign staffs in higher education in-stitution contexts. The findings of this research will help the management of UniMAP understand the impact of organizational culture’s factors on expatriates working performance. The results of the present study showed that it could set up the right organizational culture and ultimately further improve the organization performance.

Previously, many studies explored the effects of oil price on inflation by using the price of crude oil as the proxy of oil price. The novelty of this current study is that it used several types of fuel prices including RON95, RON97 and Diesel. This study employed the ARDL approach and analysed the monthly data from 2010 to 2015 in Malaysia. The result shows that there are significant effects of the price of RON95, RON97 and diesel on inflation in the long run in Malaysia. However, in the short run, the price of RON97 does not affect inflation while the prices of RON95 and diesel do affect inflation in Malaysia.

The purpose of this study is to investigate factor of vendor selection and employees’ morale towards human resource outsourcing decision in organization. Study was conducted in Melaka within private organizations. Questionnaire was distributed and only 60 respondents were collected back. Data analysis was perform using SPSS version 21. Findings shows that employee’s morale show high significant relationship (r=0.761, p ) with human resource outsourcing decision. Limitation and conclusion were discussed in this study.

The advent of online business has changed the pattern of doing business recently. This circumstance puts more pressure on SMEs to sustain their position in the fiercely competitive market. Unlike multinational companies, SMEs have several inevitable weaknesses in terms of planning strategy, technology exposure as well as resources that serve as a stumbling block to their better and competitive performance. Thus, online business appears to be a new medium to enhance the performance. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the influences of effectiveness, competitive advantage and market accessibility on SME performance in Malaysia. This study uses cross sectional study which focuses on SMEs that are engaged in online businesses. 200 questionnaires were distributed particularly to SMEs in food and beverages (F&B); apparel and textile (A&T); and health and cosmetic (H&C) industries in Malaysia. Graduates quality has become a major issue recently especially in today’s scenario. Graduates quality can be varying when it perceived by employers. Different sector of industry has different standard of quality. The interpretation of employers towards graduates counts the job placement of graduates. It is hard to standardized quality across industries. Several attributes show that competence relatedness and autonomy do influence the quality of graduates. A quantitative method was used in this study for data gathering. All items were using 10-point likert scale. The content validity of this questionnaire were reviewed by five human resource professionals, and Cronbach alpha for each item is more than 0.75 which is acceptable. Questionnaires were given to the human resource officers in the company through email. Convenient sampling was applied in this study for data collection. 50 questionnaires were distributed across manufacturing industry and services industry in Malaysia. Using Partial least square to analyze the data, this study found out that competence in communication is the same criteria which majority across industries are seeking upon graduates. Therefore, Industries that involved are manufacturing (34.38%) and services (65.63%). Measurement model and structural model were assessed to see the relationship. It shows that perception on competence has most influenced towards quality (AVE=0.849, R2=0.734=Q2=0.443). This study concludes that employers around the world are looking at similar attribute on graduate’s competence. This study also warrants a future research, whereby researcher could get more sample size and by doing sample which involves employers, graduates and educators.

The academic staff selection for any organization is an important process that involves in decision making process. The process must be carried out carefully because it involves some important aspects towards the staff selection. During the interview session, the selection process based on five criteria of the applicant. The five selection criteria consists of academic qualification, religious knowledge, community services, knowledge, and communication skills. Furthermore, the selection of applicants for the academic ability and suitability with the field in order to make the selection process is becoming more complex. The selection of the applicants for academic staff also relies on judgments of the committee that was appointed for interviewing the applicants with a lot of experience in the selection of academic staff applicant. The study finds that the objectives are to identify all criteria relevant to the selection of staffs. The technique used in giving weights to each criterion is Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique. As a result, the highest weight was assigned to the first criteria which are academic qualification with the weight 0.3423. It shows that the academic qualification was the most important criterion compared to the other criteria. In addition, the selection of applicant for academic staff is able to assist in the selection of potential qualified academic staff.

This study is designed to investigate the effect of job performance on employees’ Career Advancement (CA). Two aspects of job performance such as task performance (TP) and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) have been investigated in this study. This study also contributed for a further knowledge by adopting the multiple sources of ratings on individuals’ job performance (e.g. self-ratings, superior-ratings). The data was gathered through mail survey method from 390 paired respondents. The result presented that self-rating of TP was the only factor that associated with employees’ intrinsic CA. There were no significant relationships between self-ratings of OCB on employees’ extrinsic as well as on employees’ intrinsic CA. This study also showed that superior-rating of OCB was the only factor that associated with employees’ intrinsic CA. There were no significant relationships between superior-ratings of TP on employees’ extrinsic CA, as well as on employees’ intrinsic CA. This study contributed some new knowledge which can be channeled to the Ministry of Education (MOE) to improve the level of TP and OCB among teachers, particularly in the Malaysian context.
