1. A q-rung orthopair fuzzy decision-making framework considering experts trust relationships and psychological behavior: An application to green supplier selection

Abstract: The selection of an optimal supplier is a critical and open challenge in supply chain management. While experts' assessments significantly influence the supplier selection process, their subjective interactions can introduce unpredictable uncertainty. Existing methods have limitations in effectively representing and handling this uncertainty. The paper aims to address these challenges by proposing a novel approach that leverages q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets (q-ROFSs). The novelty of the proposed approach lies in its ability to accurately capture experts' preferences through the use of q-ROFSs, which offer membership and non-membership degrees, providing a broader expression space compared to conventional fuzzy sets. Additionally, it incorporates social network analysis (SNA) to effectively consider the trust relationships among experts. The proposed approach is divided into three stages. The first stage, presents a novel method to determine experts' weights by combining SNA, the Bayesian formula, and the maximum entropy principle. This approach allows for a more precise representation of varying levels of expertise and influence among experts, addressing the uncertainty arising from subjective interactions. The second stage introduces a hybrid weight determination method to determine criteria weights within the context of q-ROFSs. Entropy plays a crucial role in capturing fuzziness and uncertainty in q-ROFSs, while the projection measure simultaneously provides information about the distance and angle between alternatives. By employing both objective weights estimated using entropy and normalized projection measure and subjective weights derived using an aggregation operator and a score function, the presented approach achieves a comprehensive assessment of criteria importance. To incorporate both subjective and objective weights effectively, game theory is applied which allows us to align decision-making with both quantitative and qualitative aspects, making the method more versatile and applicable. The third stage redefines the traditional Combined Compromise Solution (CoCoSo) method using Bonferroni mean operators which captures interrelationships among arguments to be aggregated. Furthermore, in recognition of the importance of an expert risk preferences and psychological behaviors, we apply regret theory, ensuring that the chosen solutions align more effectively with their underlying preferences and aspirations. The applicability and effectiveness of the proposed approach are demonstrated through a numerical example of green supplier selection. The comparative analysis illustrates the practicality and real-world relevance while the sensitivity analysis, confirms the stability and robustness of the proposed approach.

Abstract: Abstract The effective lifetime of the B s 0 $$ {\textrm{B}}_{\textrm{s}}^0 $$ meson in the decay B s 0 → J / ψK S 0 $$ {\textrm{B}}_{\textrm{s}}^0\to \textrm{J}/{\uppsi \textrm{K}}_{\textrm{S}}^0 $$ is measured using data collected during 2016–2018 with the CMS detector in s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV proton-proton collisions at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb −1. The effective lifetime is determined by performing a two-dimensional unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the B s 0 $$ {\textrm{B}}_{\textrm{s}}^0 $$ meson invariant mass and proper decay time distributions. The resulting value of 1.59 ± 0.07(stat) ± 0.03(syst) ps is the most precise measurement to date and is in good agreement with the expected value.

Abstract: Abstract Results are presented from a search for new physics in high-mass diphoton events from proton-proton collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV. The data set was collected in 2016–2018 with the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb −1. Events with a diphoton invariant mass greater than 500 GeV are considered. Two different techniques are used to predict the standard model backgrounds: parametric fits to the smoothly-falling background and a first-principles calculation of the standard model diphoton spectrum at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics calculations. The first technique is sensitive to resonant excesses while the second technique can identify broad differences in the invariant mass shape. The data are used to constrain the production of heavy Higgs bosons, Randall-Sundrum gravitons, the large extra dimensions model of Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos, and Dvali (ADD), and the continuum clockwork mechanism. No statistically significant excess is observed. The present results are the strongest limits to date on ADD extra dimensions and RS gravitons with a coupling parameter greater than 0.1.

4. Over-expression of PaSOD in transgenic potato enhances photosynthetic performance under drought

Abstract: Drought stress enhances the production of superoxide radical (O2 ._) and superoxide dismutase catalyses dismutation of it to H2O2 and O2, and hence provides a first line of defense against oxidative stress. Over-expression of a cytosolic copper-zinc superoxide dismutase, cloned from Potentilla atrosanguinea (PaSOD), in potato (Solanum tuberosum ssp. tuberosum L. cv. Kufri Sutlej) resulted in enhanced net photosynthetic rates (PN) and stomatal conductance (gs) compared to that in the wild type (WT) plants under control (irrigated) as well as drought stress conditions. Drought stress declined leaf water potential, PN, gs, photosystem II activity, and chlorophyll content, but increased proline and O2 ._ content more in WT than transgenic potato plants (SS5). The significantly higher SOD activity in SS5 coincided well with lower O2 ._ content suggesting its role in maintaining higher gs and PN in transgenic potato plants.

Abstract: The experiments were conducted to develop indices to provide critical insights into crop phenology and yield responses of wheat to thermal and moisture conditions during rabi 2021-22 and 2022-23 at PAU, Ludhiana, Punjab. The wheat variety Unnat PBW was sown on three dates (D1: 27th October, D2: 17th November, D3: 8th December) under three irrigation regimes (I1: irrigations at CRI, Jointing, 50% Flowering, Soft dough stages, I2: irrigations at CRI, Flag leaf emergence, soft dough stage, I3: irrigations at Jointing, Soft dough stage). Results revealed that the crop sown on 27th October acquired maximum number of calendar days and various heat indices viz. growing degree days (GDD), solar thermal degree days (STDD) and hygrothermal units (HGTU) for attaining physiological maturity while 8th December sown crop resulted in lowest accumulation. However, late sown crop was observed to accumulate more STDD. Wheat sowing before 17th November resulted in higher grain yield and energy use efficiencies. Four irrigations at critical stages took highest GDD, STDD and HGTU for attaining maturity which was at par with two irrigations. Application of four irrigations resulted in significantly higher yield and energy use efficiencies. Similar performance of three irrigations was observed when irrigation was not skipped at anthesis stage.

Abstract: Abstract Purpose Decreased baroreflex sensitivity (BRS) has been shown to be a marker of cardiovascular (CV) risk. In the present study, the difference in CV risk biomarkers in type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients receiving oral antidiabetic drugs (OAD) with and without hypertension has been assessed. Materials and methods Ninety-two T2D patients on OAD without hypertension (control group) and eighty-eight diabetic patients with hypertension on OAD and antihypertensive drugs (test group) matched for age, gender, body mass index, serum glucose, glycated haemoglobin, and duration of the disease were recruited for the study. Their blood pressure (BP) variability including BRS, heart rate variability (HRV), insulin, lipid profile, osteoprotegerin (OPG), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were estimated. The association of various factors with BRS was assessed by Spearman correlation and multiple regression analysis. Results BRS was decreased (13.90 ± 5.27 vs 6.76 ± 4.58), HRV sympathetic indices [LFnu, LF-HF ratio (1.30 ± 0.49 vs 1.93 ± 0.62)], HOMA-IR, atherogenic index of plasma (AIP), OPG (223.08 ± 103.86 vs 287.60 ± 121.36) and TNF-α were increased, and parasympathetic indices [TP (1012.90 ± 316.18 vs 625.88 ± 229.84), RMSSD, SDNN, NN50, pNN50] were decreased in the test group compared to control group. In control group, parasympathetic indices, AIP, OPG, and TNF-α had a significant correlation and OPG had an independent association (β − 0.344; p 0.004) with BRS. In test group, BP, LF-HF ratio, parasympathetic indices, AIP, OPG, and TNF-α had significant correlation, and TNF-α alone (β − 0.297; p 0.022) had an independent contribution to decreased BRS. Conclusion Despite antidiabetic and antihypertensive treatments, T2D patients with hypertension had more cardiometabolic risks in comparison to normotensive T2D patients. Inflammation could be the inciting factor for rise in BP and decrease in BRS (CV risk) in hypertensive T2D patients. Hypertension in diabetes could attenuate the link of OPG to the reduction in BRS. Reduction in BRS could be a physiological marker of CV risk in T2D patients treated with OAD.

Abstract: Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder. In India, an accurate number of PD patients remains uncertain owing to the unawareness of PD symptoms in the geriatric population and the large discrepancy between the number of PD patients and trained neurologists. Constructing additional neurological care centers along with using technology and integrating it into digital healthcare platforms will help reduce this burden. Use of technology in PD diagnosis and monitoring started in 1980s with invasive techniques performed in laboratories. Over the last five decades, PD technology has significantly evolved where now patients can track symptoms using their smartphones or wearable sensors. However, the use of such technology within the Indian population is non-existent primarily due to the cost of digital devices and limited technological capabilities of geriatric patients especially in rural areas. Other reasons include secure data transfers from patients to physicians and the general lack of awareness of wearables devices. Thus, creating a simple, cost-effective and inconspicuous wearable device would yield the highest compliance within the Indian PD patient population. Implementation of such technology will provide neurologists with wider outreach to patients in rural locations, remote monitoring and empirical data to titrate medication.

Abstract: Huntington’s disease (HD) is an autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder. Eye movement abnormalities are characteristic manifestations of HD. The clinical manifestations and eye movement disturbances progress with the natural course of illness. Eye movement abnormalities evolve in HD from the premanifest stage to the early-manifest and late-manifest stages. In the premanifest stage, voluntary saccades, i.e., memory-guided saccades and anti-saccades are predominantly affected. There is an increase in latency and error rates of voluntary saccades. Early-manifest stage of HD is characterized by abnormality in reflexive saccades, with decrease in saccadic amplitude and velocity and slow broken pursuits. In the late-manifest stage, initiation of voluntary saccades in all directions is slow, leading to difficulty in initiating voluntary eye movements. The rate of progression of the saccades, pursuits, and other ocular movement correlate with the disease progression; monitoring this helps in early disease evaluation and in evaluating novel therapies to modify the disease. In this article, we systematically review the available literature on the patterns and progression of eye movement abnormalities, from the premanifest, to manifest, and advanced stages of HD.

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Quantitative gait analysis is aimed at quantifying the degree of gait impairment in a patient. It helps to estimate the severity, track the prognosis, and identify the treatment effect in patients. There is a paucity of studies assessing gait characteristics in patients with spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) using instrumental gait analysis. Here, we aim to identify the gait characteristics in patients with SCA and compare them with age-matched healthy individuals. METHODS: In this retrospective cross-sectional study, we analyzed the gait analysis data of patients with SCA from May 2018 to January 2020 in the gait and balance laboratory of the Physiotherapy Center in NIMHANS and compared them with age-matched controls from the existing database. The data were analyzed using an independent t-test. RESULTS: Each group consisted of 49 subjects. The SCA group had a mean age of 37.88 ± 13.25 years and the control group has a mean age of 40.88 ± 14.57 years, with a male to female ratio of 1:0.96 and 5:2, respectively. A significant difference was observed in all gait parameters (p < 0.001) between the SCA and control groups, except for swing time (p = 0.396). The SCA group demonstrated reduced velocity and cadence compared to the control group. The values of spatial parameters were reduced in the SCA group, with increased temporal parameters along with the base of support. The coefficient of variation was significantly increased in the SCA group, and the highest value was recorded for step length (10.45 ± 7.14). CONCLUSION: Patients with SCA demonstrated significant deviation in gait parameters from the normal values. The increased step-to-step variability in this patient population suggests an increased risk of falls. Identifying the changes in gait parameters at an early stage may help in planning the rehabilitation of patients with SCA, with focus on fall prevention strategies by targeting improvements in gait variability.

Abstract: Abstract Background Tertiary cancer centers offer clinical expertise and multi‐modal approaches to treatment alongside the integration of research protocols. Nevertheless, most patients receive their cancer care at community practices. A better understanding of the relationships between tertiary and community practice environments may enhance collaborations and advance patient care. Methods A 31‐item survey was distributed to community and tertiary oncologists in Southern California using REDCap. Survey questions assessed the following attributes: demographics and features of clinical practice, referral patterns, availability and knowledge of clinical trials and precision medicine, strategies for knowledge acquisition, and integration of community and tertiary practices. Results The survey was distributed to 98 oncologists, 85 (87%) of whom completed it. In total, 52 (61%) respondents were community practitioners and 33 (38%) were tertiary oncologists. A majority (56%) of community oncologists defined themselves as general oncologists, whereas almost all (97%) tertiary oncologists reported a subspecialty. Clinical trial availability was the most common reason for patient referrals to tertiary centers (73%). The most frequent barrier to tertiary referral was financial considerations (59%). Clinical trials were offered by 97% of tertiary practitioners compared to 67% of community oncologists (p = 0.001). Most oncologists (82%) reported only a minimal‐to‐moderate understanding of clinical trials available at regional tertiary centers. Conclusions Community oncologists refer patients to tertiary centers primarily with the intent of clinical trial enrollment; however, significant gaps exist in their knowledge of trial availability. Our results identify the need for enhanced communication and collaboration between community and tertiary providers to expand patients’ access to clinical trials.
