Purpose of study. Identification of significant laboratory markers for the development of atherosclerosis (AS) of the carotid arteries (CA) in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS).Materials and methods. 152 male patients were examined, 84 of whom, according to polysomnography (PSG), were diagnosed with OSAS. Diagnosis of AS CA was performed by triplex scanning. The complex of laboratory studies included the assessment of lipid metabolism, the concentration of highly sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP), interleukin‑1β (IL‑1β), interleukin‑6 (IL‑6) and interleukin‑10 (IL‑10) in blood serum.Results. In patients with OSAS, a statistically significant increase in the complex of proatherogenic factors was found: hsCRP, pro-inflammatory cytokines, ratio of apoproteins and atherogenic coefficient compared with patients without OSAS despite the absence of differences in the severity of atherosclerotic lesions of the carotid arteries in these groupsConclusion. The development of OSAS is associated with severe lipid metabolism disorders and activation of nonspecific inflammation, which determines an increased risk of atherosclerosis in this group of patients.

Providing high and stable grain harvests with high content of valuable compounds in grain is an important task of crop production. The aim of the study was to assess the adaptability of oat accessions through the analysis of their chemical and physical properties and disclose relationships among adaptability indicators based on these characteristics.Eighteen oat accessions from the VIR collection, grown for 3 years in Eastern Siberia, were assessed. The content of β-glucans and oil, 1000 grain weight, and test weight were analyzed. Four adaptability indicators were measured for the aforesaid characters.Plasticity and stability parameters of the accessions showed no significant differences between the naked and hulled oat forms. Cvs. ‘Sapsan’ (k-15444) and ‘Aldan’ (k-15115) demonstrated the best adaptability in the content of β-glucans in grain, ‘Sayan’ (k-14043) and ‘Vyatsky’ (k-14960) in oil content, ‘Korifey’ (k-15113) and ‘Taidon’ (k-15183) in 1000 grain weight, and ‘Korifey’ and ‘Gosha’ (к-15120) in their test weight. Among the naked oat accessions, significant relationships were recorded between the adaptability indicators of the content of β-glucans or oil in grain and those of the test weight as well as between the average 1000 grain weight of the accessions and the parameters of their plasticity (negative correlations) or stability (positive correlations) for the said physical character.There is a high risk of obtaining hulled oats with reduced levels of oil in their grain, when selected for high stability for this character. It is assumed that successful oat breeding for increased adaptability in 1000 grain weight will be accompanied by an increase in grain size. The possibility of indirect estimation of the adaptability of naked oat accessions according to their β-glucan or oil content is shown on the basis of calculating their adaptability according to the test weight of their grain.

In the article, specific attention is paid to the factors that define the development of Russian literature at the most critical stages of the previous century. Especially, it dwells on the Russian revolution of 1917 and its most immediate consequence: creating Soviet Art. The author demonstrates that for many figures of Russian Modernism an orientation towards total social and cultural collapse was part of their aesthetic program. The Revolution mercilessly responded to this deep inner call of Russian culture. The response was received by the public in the shadow of the last book in the Bible: the Apocalypse. New Soviet literature, separated from the “bourgeois heritage” of the Silver Age, however, was deeply connected with its dystopias and phobias, catastrophic intuition and the expectation of the transformation of a Man and World where labor, science and technique should function as divine tools in the Epic Song of the Birth of New Universe. The most important stage in the process of the liberation of Russian literature from mythological constructions of Soviet avant-garde aesthetics was the Second World War. It rehabilitated a central meta-hero of great Russian classical literature, “a little person” debunked by Modernism.

The purpose of this investigation was to analyze the scientific literature concerning the influence of grain physical characteristics on functional value of poultry feed. The review considers the role of grain feed particle size and its shape in ensuring optimal development and functioning of digestive tract and increasing productivity of birds. The results showed that compared to the feeding with smaller particles, the use of coarse feed increased stomach weight in broilers, enhanced enzymatic degradation of feed in digestive tract and improved nutrient bioavailability. The study found that increase in the level of coarse corn in the diet increased the number of Lactobacillus spp. and Bifidobacteria spp. beneficial bacteria in digestive tract. Meanwhile, number of opportunistic pathogenic microorganisms decreased. In birds which were given granular feed we found insufficient development of stomach, mainly due to the lack of mechanical stimulation. We assume that in order to improve stomach function and health of birds, it is necessary to apply a source of dietary fiber to their diet. The results of studies suggest that adding 2-3% of insoluble source of fiber to the routine diets of young chickens based on high-protein soy flour and corn can improve their digestive tract development and growth characteristics.

The aim of this study is a comparative analysis of the functional value of cereal products obtained from hulled and naked forms of oats. The object of the study was the grain of oat samples grown on the territory of the Beysky district of the Republic of Khakassia. In grain raw materials, the filminess of grain, the content of protein, fat, calcium and phosphorus in it was assessed. The total content of antioxidants (CCA) was determined by extracting samples with hot bidistilled water. The measurement of the CCA value was carried out using a Tsvet Yauza-01-AA device. Gallic acid was used as a reference sample. A food product was made from grain by roasting and grinding (technology 1) or grinding and subsequent roasting (technology 2). In the obtained cereal product, the CCA value was measured and a number of its organoleptic characteristics were visually recorded. As a result, it was found that in naked oat samples the content of protein, fat and macronutrients was, respectively, 45; 36; 23; 40% higher in comparison with the membranous forms, and the level of SSA differed insignificantly. A grain product made on the basis of naked oats had higher nutritional and functional properties; in the process of its production, a much smaller amount of waste was formed. Technology 1 and 2 gave almost the same results. The proposed product solves the problem of obtaining a dry cereal nutritious functional ingredient based on the grain of naked oats, which has more pronounced medicinal and prophylactic properties, a long shelf life, low cost and is available for all age categories and strata of consumers.)

The coherent reaction, $\gamma d \rightarrow \pi^0\pi^0 d$ was studied with the BGOOD experiment at ELSA from threshold to a centre-of-mass energy of 2850\,MeV. A full kinematic reconstruction was made, with final state deuterons identified in the forward spectrometer and $\pi^0$ decays in the central BGO Rugby Ball. The strength of the differential cross section exceeds what can be described by models of coherent photoproduction and instead supports the three isoscalar dibaryon candidates reported by the ELPH collaboration at 2.38, 2.47 and 2.63\,GeV/c$^2$. A low mass enhancement in the $\pi^0\pi^0$ invariant mass is also observed at the $d^*(2380)$ centre-of-mass energy which is consistent with the ABC effect. At higher centre-of-mass energies, a narrow peak in the $\pi^0 d$ invariant mass at 2114\,MeV/c$^2$ with a width of 20\,MeV/c$^2$ supports a sequential two-dibaryon decay mechanism., Comment: 8 pages, 10 figures. K+Λ(1405) photoproduction has been studied at the BGOOD experiment via the all neutral decay, Λ(1405)→Σ0π0. The unique BGOOD experimental setup allows both the cross section and Λ(1405) invariant mass distribution (line shape) to be measured over a broad K+ polar angle range, extending to extreme forward K+ angles unattainable at previous experiments.Evidence is provided for the role of a triangle singularity driven by the N⁎(2030) resonance, which appears to contribute significantly to K+Λ(1405) photoproduction. This is observed in the integrated cross section which was determined with unprecedented energy resolution and supported by the angular distributions. The measured line shape is also in agreement with the previous results of CLAS and ANKE, and is consistent with two poles derived in χPT based models.

The aim of this study was to analyze the total content of antioxidants (TCA) at different stages of production of the Khakass national product talgan, made from sprouted wheat and barley. Grain crops were grown on the territory of the Bey district of the Republic of Khakassia, which is characterized by favorable climatic conditions from the point of view of growing grain with an increased content of antioxidants. To determine the TCA value in the grain, two solvents were used – hot bidistilled water and 70% ethanol. The TCA measurement was performed on the device "Color Yauza-01-AA". Among all the grain samples studied, higher values were recorded when using hot bidistilled water as an eluent. It was found that the germination process did not reduce the taste qualities of the grain product. The value of the TCA in talgan, made on the basis of sprouted barley grain, was higher in comparison with wheat by 34%. The effect of increasing the level of TCA in the product in comparison with the initial raw material after the stage of grain germination in wheat and barley, respectively, by 1.5 and 2 times, and after the stages of roasting and grinding by 2 and 2.5 times. The value of FSA in bran exceeded that in the original grain by 44 and 65% for wheat and barley, respectively. Thus, as a result of the research, it was found that regardless of the studied crop (wheat, barley), the process of germination of grain is one of the effective ways to increase the value of TCA in the talgan product made on its basis.

Background.The aim of the research was to identify barley germplasm accessions with the minimum and maximum content of β-glucans in their grain in combinations with other improved useful traits.Material and methods.The material for analysis were 18 hulled and 8 naked barley accessions of various ecogeographic origin from the collection of the N.I. Vavilov AllRussian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (VIR), which were grown under the conditions of Eastern Siberia in 2016–2018.Results.Hulled accessions yielded grains with β-glucan content from 3.18 to 4.51%; naked ones, from 3.18 to 5.21%. According to the minimum value of the studied qualitative trait (3.18–3.43%), cultivars of Siberian breeding were identified: ‘Mayak’ (k-29622, Krasnoyarsk Territory) and ‘Tarsky 3’ (k-30719, Omsk Province), plus cv. ‘AC Albright’ (k-30599, Canada); according to the maximum value (5.06–5.21%), the naked accessions Nudum 155 (k-13328, Ukraine) and ‘Nudum 95’ (k-31125, Chelyabinsk Province). The highest protein content in grain (16.63–18.36%) was found in the accessions Nudum 155, Nudum 7566 (k-29453, Kyrgyzstan) and ‘Nudum 95’. The accessions Nudum 155 and ‘Nudum 95’ were characterized by combined high contents of β-glucans and protein in their grain. Early maturity and increased productivity were shown by the cultivars ‘Tarsky 3’, ‘Kolchan’ (k-31039, Altai Territory), ‘Zolotnik’ (k-30845, Altai Territory), ‘Abalak’ (Krasnoyarsk Territory, Tyumen Province), and ‘AC Albright’ (Canada). A significant positive relationship was found between the content of β-glucans and the weight of 1000 grains in both forms of barley.Conclusion.According to β-glucan content combined with other valuable characteristics in grain, the accessions ‘Mayak’, ‘Tarsky 3’ and ‘AC Albright’ are of interest for the improvement of fodder cultivars, while ‘Nudum 95’ and Nudum 155 are promising for breeding for food.

—At present, quite a large number of inducers forming neutrophilic extracellular traps (NET) have been described. Mechanical factors (MF) are of particular importance, since they are constantly acting as neutrophils pass through the microcirculatory system. An adequate choice of therapy for various diseases accompanied by excessive NET formation requires assessment of the ability of a patient’s neutrophils to form NET in response to various inducers. Studying the role of MF in neutrophil activation in patients presents certain difficulties associated with introducing expensive and complex recording systems into laboratory practice. A possible alternative to the existing approaches can be joint incubation of whole blood with hemocompatible polymer microspheres (PMS). To develop this approach, polystyrene microspheres containing quaternary ammonium groups were obtained, on the surface of which hemocompatible aggregates consisting of thiooctadecyl poly-N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone (PMSnano) were attached. The data obtained indicate that with incubation of blood samples with PMSnano under gentle stirring, the amount of formed NET is statistically significantly higher than in a stationary incubation mode. This confirms the idea that MF are capable of activating neutrophils and triggering the NET formation process. The proposed approach to assessing the effect of MF on neutrophil activation processes owing to its ease of implementation may find wide application both in biomedical research and clinical laboratories.

This article is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the classic author of Russian literature, Honorary Academician of the Imperial Academy of Sciences in the Category of Fine Literature, the first Russian Nobel Prize laureate in literature I.A. Bunin (October 10 (22), 1870–November 8, 1953). The parallel of the category of the “national” as the “universal,” open to the world, capable of connecting to someone else’s experience in the creative mind of Pushkin, who had stood at the origins of the great Russian classics, and Bunin, who largely completed this tradition in the 20th century, is considered. The aesthetic dominants of Bunin’s artistic world, his inherent ways of mastering images and themes of world culture, as well as the tragic experience of a person in the postclassical era, are reviewed. The assessments of the writer’s work by the major figures of Western literature (Thomas Mann, Romain Rolland, Andre Gide, and others) are presented. The circumstances of Bunin’s election as an Academician in 1909 are examined. The expert evaluations of his work by the Nobel Committee, which preceded the awarding of the prize in 1933, are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the significance of these milestones in Bunin’s biography and the main components of his literary reputation.

С целью изучения влияния генотипа и климатических условий на содержание β-глюканов, жира и белка в зерне выращивали образцы овса в условиях Красноярского края и Республики Хакасия в течение трех лет. Объектом служили 1 голозерный и 2 пленчатых образца овса красноярской селекции. Содержание β-глюканов и жира измеряли на автоматическом зерновом анализаторе Infratec Analyzer 1241 с использованием 50 мл кюветы. Параллельно стандартными методами измеряли другие химические и физические характеристики зерна овса: содержание белка в зерне, его пленчатость, массу 1000 зерен. Установлено, что пленчатые образцы формировали зерно с содержанием β-глюканов внем около 3%, а голозерный – свыше 4%, при этом обнаружено заметное преимущество голозерного образца посравнению с пленчатыми в содержании белка и жира в зерне. Выращивание разных образцов овса в двух географических пунктах Восточной Сибири в течение трех лет показало несущественное положительное влияние климатических условий Хакасии на содержание β-глюканов в зерне, его крупность и пленчатость и негативное влияние на содержание белка и жира. Сравнение содержания β-глюканов и жира в зерне овса трех сортов из двух географических пунктов выявило достоверное влияние генотипа (63.6 и 66.6% соответственно) и незначительное влияние пункта выращивания, а также взаимодействия генотип×пункт. Найдено существование сильных отрицательных связей между массой 1000 зерен и содержанием β-глюканов, жира или белка в зерне, а также сильных положительных достоверных связей между содержанием β-глюканов и жира в зерне., With the aim of studying the influence of genotype and climatic conditions on the content of β-glucans, fat and protein in grain, oat samples were grown in the Krasnoyarsk territory region and the Republic of Khakassia for three years. The object was 1 naked and 2 husked samples of oats of Krasnoyarsk selection. The content of β-glucans and fat was measured on an automatic grain analyzer Infratec Analyzer 1241 using 50 ml cuvette. In parallel, standard methods were used to measure other chemical and physical characteristics of oat grain: protein content in the grain, its filminess, weight of 1000 grains. It was found that the husked samples formed a grain with a content of β-glucan in it about 3% and naked over 4%, while a noticeable advantage of the naked sample compared with the husked in the content of protein and fat in the grain was found. Cultivation of different oat samples in two geographical areas of Eastern Siberia for three years showed insignificant positive impact of climatic conditions of Khakassia on the content of β-glucans in grain, its size and filthiness and negative impact on fat and protein content. Comparison of the content of β-glucans and fat in oat grain of three varieties from two geographical points revealed a significant effect of the genotype (63.6 and 66.6%, respectively) and a slight influence of the point of cultivation, as well as the interaction of the genotype×point. The existence of strong negative links between the weight of 1000 grains and the content of β-glucans, fat or protein in the grain, as well as strong positive reliable links between the content of β-glucans and fat in the grain.
