Introduction Acquired epileptic aphasia or Landau-Kleffner syndrome (LKS) is a disorder with onset in the childhood between the ages of 2 and 8 years. The main defining psychopathological symptom of Landau-Kleffner syndrome is the acquired aphasia with epileptiform electroencephalographic abnormalities. The aphasia has both receptive and expressive features. The onset is usually subacute and the course is usually progressive with spontaneous improvements and exacerbations. The electroencephalographic abnormalities include pathological findings in the temporal and parieto-occipital brain regions. Objectives An 11 year old girl with generalized tonic-clonic and partial seizures is referred to our child and adolescence outpatient service due to language impairment. Her first generalized seizure has been at the age of 11 months old, caused by high temperature. The presence of articulation difficulties has raised suspicion for intellectual disabilities. She has been diagnosed with Epilepsy, grand mal seizures and has had continuous treatment with sodium valproate since the age of 3 years. Methods We used medical history, EEG-recordings, clinical observation and psychological assessment. Results Patient`s language development has been normal till the age of 3 years old. She has started using single words properly at the age of 1 year and 6 months old. Her first simple sentences have appeared at the age of 2 years old. At the age of 3 years old after severe generalized tonic-clonic seizures she has stopped talking for a month. After this month she had started vocalizing and using simple words, but she had lost her ability to form sentences. She has had some mild difficulties in understanding verbal information and following instructions. Her speech has had bad articulation and deficits in the verbal fluency. Her gross and fine motor development, her social skills and problem-solving abilities have all been intact and age-appropriate. She has worked with speech therapist for 5 years and achieved partial recovery from the acquired aphasia. She continues to have problems with the articulation – the speech is still with mild dysarthria. We used WISC-IV to assess her IQ (IQ=108). Conclusions The patient has already developed age-appropriate speech prior to the onset of the language impairment. Considered as secondary or acquired, the observed aphasia together with the medical data for her epileptic seizures allows us to diagnose the patient with Acquired epileptic aphasia or Landau-Kleffner syndrome. Abstract. The present study tracks changes in the development of two native peach varieties (“Laskava” and “Evmolpiya”) from fruit formation to full ripening within five calendar weeks. In search for a non-destructive method for maturity assessment, the parameters firmness, color, size, weight, dry weight, ash content, and TSS values were evaluated. It was found that a 30% increase in size and a 1.8-2 times increase in weight occurred during the ripening period. The TSS data did not change radically, which shows that the main nutrients of the peach accumulate in the early stages of development. The color indicators change in the following trend: a decrease in the “L”, “h” and “b” values, and a tendency of increase in the “c” values. The stone size does not change drastically during the evaluation time. The moisture content also does not change significantly, although in the initial stage of fruit growth it cannot be characterized by juiciness. Firmness progressively decreases. The obtained results show grounds for the creation of a database of expected markers which may indicate the onset of maturity without the fruit being pulled from the tree or damaged.

We report a case of an 80-years–old patient with a severe, symptomatic aortic valve stenosis and history of ischemic heart disease, previously treated by coronary artery bypass graft surgery. The patient was contraindicated for conventional surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) due to advanced age and underlying comorbidity, therefore transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has been offered. The access options for the procedure were restricted by the underlying generalized atherosclerosis process causing peripheral vessel disease. We have chosen transaortic access for the patient which in that case was the only possible option. The transaortic valve implantation was successful with satisfactory hemodynamic results, improvement in functional class heart failure of the patient and preserving the function and anatomy of the coronary artery bypass graft. This case report demonstrates that the lack of favorable transfemoral access for TAVI should not be a limitation by itself for the procedure, rather than be stimulus for searching and using new and alternative access for it.

Drinking water samples from eight districts of Almaty, Kazakhstan was collected and physical and chemical analysis of the samples was carried out. Quality indicators of drinking water, such as organoleptic characteristics of water (smell, taste, color, and turbidity), general characteristics (pH, total hardness, permanganate demand, and dry residue), inorganic substances (cations and anions) and contaminants (heavy metals and total petroleum hydrocarbons) were determined, except pesticide residues which will be analyzed for further analysis with a wide range of pollutants. According to all indicators obtained for all districts of Almaty, the anthropogenic impact on drinking water in Almaty districts is assessed as low, not exceeding the permissible maximum allowable concentrations (MAC) values, and drinking water in Almaty corresponds to the approved standards and rules for drinking water of Kazakhstan. Despite of the fact that studied pollutants are below their MAC values, they still pose threat to public health due to their accumulative properties. The study of drinking water in the districts of Almaty made it possible to assess the ecological state in the studied districts of Almaty, as well as to propose recommendations for improving the quality of drinking water in areas where water quality indicators are closer to their MAC values.

The recovery of photosynthetic activity during rehydration of Haberlea rhodopensis from drought- and freezing-induced desiccation were investigated. The water uptake during the initial 15 h was slow thus preventing cellular damages. The results showed faster recovery of quantum efficiency of PSII in plants rehydrated after freezing stress (RAF) compared to plants rehydrated after drought stress (RAD) and the most significant differences between them were evident after 9-15 h of rehydration. Following rehydration, PSI activity recovered faster compared to PSII and in contrast to PSII, its activity was higher in RAD compared to RAF plants. During the first hours of rehydration, prominent alterations in energy transfer between photosynthetic complexes occurred as revealed by 77 K fluorescence of isolated thylakoids. High proportion of thermal energy dissipation in dry plants and during the first hours of rehydration protects them from photooxidation; the role of PSII reaction center quenching during the recovery was suggested.

The article examines the results of the study of the value orientations of students of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University (National Research University of technology). The analysis of data on the axiological component of modern students on the example of Russian, Chinese, Kazakh, American students is carried out. Basic values and their significance for modern youth are singled out. According to the results of the work, the conclusion is made that the axiological paradigm of student’s youth includes both the values of traditional society and the values of the modern information society.

Adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) hold tremendous promise as delivery vectors for gene therapies. AAVs have been successfully engineered-for instance, for more efficient and/or cell-specific delivery to numerous tissues-by creating large, diverse starting libraries and selecting for desired properties. However, these starting libraries often contain a high proportion of variants unable to assemble or package their genomes, a prerequisite for any gene delivery goal. Here, we present and showcase a machine learning (ML) method for designing AAV peptide insertion libraries that achieve fivefold higher packaging fitness than the standard NNK library with negligible reduction in diversity. To demonstrate our ML-designed librarys utility for downstream engineering goals, we show that it yields approximately 10-fold more successful variants than the NNK library after selection for infection of human brain tissue, leading to a promising glial-specific variant. Moreover, our design approach can be applied to other types of libraries for AAV and beyond.

Quality higher education involves making it accessible to students with special needs and disabilities. Therefore, the implementation of inclusive education is a certain indicator of quality among higher education institutions (HEIs). At the same time, faculty members play a fundamental role in promoting inclusive learning environments working with students with disabilities. The aim of research is to determine the readiness of faculty members to implement an inclusive education in Ukrainian HEIs, because their willingness to work defines the practical implementation of legislative and regulatory initiatives regarding the organization of inclusive education in the actual educational practice. For this, we conducted a survey among 186 faculty members with different age, teaching experience, and professional category. The results confirm that the faculty of HEI are primarily focused on working with students with normative development and almost do not take into account the characteristics of educational difficulties of students with disabilities. In addition, their level of knowledge about basic legal and regulatory documents, elements of an inclusive learning environment, and typical problems of implementing an inclusive approach in the educational process of HEI are not uniform. But faculty members showed their readiness to master the practices of implementing an inclusive learning environment in higher education institutions. The results obtained can be useful for the development of institutional policies for the implementation of inclusive education in HEIs.

Purpose: Taking the Institute of Philology and Journalism at Ukraine's Taurida National University as a case study, this paper overviews and distils the crisis management measures utilised in transitioning to fully online education during the crises of the COVID-19 pandemic and full-scale Russian invasion and violence. Design/methodology/approach: With the aim of spotlighting the experiences of the people most directly impacted by these two contemporary crises, this case study documents the lived experience of the authors--all of whom are/were teaching staff at the Institute--and Institute students' responses to online surveys conducted between 2020 and 2022. Findings: The Institute's case study demonstrates that contemporary crisis management via transitioning to fully online learning can be achieved if the following instrumental and methodological components are employed: (1) an initial assessment of the risks and opportunities for the educational community involved; (2) the right choice of online teaching and communications tools; (3) followed by flexibility and gradualism in onward planning (i.e. where technology and pedagogy are understood as interconnected) taking members' feedback into account. However, the success of these components is contingent upon fulfilling psychological components, with care devoted to: upholding members' psychological well-being; offering members ongoing technical support; and strengthening trust between members. Originality/value: This case study offers transferable and adaptable findings for successful crisis management in education, from the Ukrainian context out to the wider world.

The study includes 220 people with severe mental disorders, men and women, of ages 18-70, placed for compulsory treatment in psychiatric institutions in the area of Sofia city and Sofia region. The patients were hospitalized for the period from January 2013 to December 2015. Social factors, such as age, family status and support were taken into account. The patients’ usages of the service of psychosocial rehabilitation, as well as subsequent hospitalizations, were monitored for one year.
