Abstract

Abstract The H1 Collaboration reports the first measurement of the 1-jettiness event shape observable $$\tau _1^b$$ τ 1 b in neutral-current deep-inelastic electron-proton scattering (DIS). The observable $$\tau _1^b$$ τ 1 b is equivalent to a thrust observable defined in the Breit frame. The data sample was collected at the HERA ep collider in the years 2003–2007 with center-of-mass energy of $$\sqrt{s}=319\,\textrm{GeV} $$ s = 319 GeV , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 351.1 $$\textrm{pb}^{-1}$$ pb - 1 . Triple differential cross sections are provided as a function of $$\tau _1^b$$ τ 1 b , event virtuality $$Q^{2}$$ Q 2 , and inelasticity y, in the kinematic region $$Q^{2} >150\,\textrm{GeV}^2 $$ Q 2 > 150 GeV 2 . Single differential cross sections are provided as a function of $$\tau _1^b$$ τ 1 b in a limited kinematic range. Double differential cross sections are measured, in contrast, integrated over $$\tau _1^b$$ τ 1 b and represent the inclusive neutral-current DIS cross section measured as a function of $$Q^{2}$$ Q 2 and y. The data are compared to a variety of predictions and include long-standing and more recent Monte Carlo event generators, predictions in fixed-order perturbative QCD where calculations up to $$\mathcal {O}(\alpha _\textrm{s} ^3)$$ O ( α s 3 ) are available for $$\tau _1^b$$ τ 1 b or inclusive DIS, and resummed predictions at next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy matched to fixed order predictions at $$\mathcal {O}(\alpha _\textrm{s} ^2)$$ O ( α s 2 ) . These comparisons reveal sensitivity of the 1-jettiness observable to QCD parton shower and resummation effects, as well as the modeling of hadronization and fragmentation. Within their range of validity, the fixed-order predictions provide a good description of the data. Monte Carlo event generators are predictive over the full measured range and hence their underlying models and parameters can be constrained by comparing to the presented data.

Abstract

Abstract The Breit frame provides a natural frame to analyze lepton–proton scattering events. In this reference frame, the parton model hard interactions between a quark and an exchanged boson defines the coordinate system such that the struck quark is back-scattered along the virtual photon momentum direction. In Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), higher order perturbative or non-perturbative effects can change this picture drastically. As Bjorken-x decreases below one half, a rather peculiar event signature is predicted with increasing probability, where no radiation is present in one of the two Breit-frame hemispheres and all emissions are to be found in the other hemisphere. At higher orders in $$\alpha _{s}$$ α s or in the presence of soft QCD effects, predictions of the rate of these events are far from trivial, and that motivates measurements with real data. We report on the first observation of the empty current hemisphere events in electron–proton collisions at the HERA collider using data recorded with the H1 detector at a center-of-mass energy of 319 GeV. The fraction of inclusive neutral-current DIS events with an empty hemisphere is found to be $$0.0112 \pm 3.9\%_\text {stat} \pm 4.5\%_{\text {syst}} \pm 1.6\%_{\text {mod}}$$ 0.0112 ± 3.9 % stat ± 4.5 % syst ± 1.6 % mod in the selected kinematic region of $$150

Abstract

The radiation pattern within high energy quark- and gluon-initiated jets (jet substructure) is used extensively as a precision probe of the strong force as well as an environment for optimizing event generators with numerous applications in high energy particle and nuclear physics. Looking at electron-proton collisions is of particular interest as many of the complications present at hadron colliders are absent. A detailed study of modern jet substructure observables, jet angularities, in electron-proton collisions is presented using data recorded using the H1 detector at HERA. The measurement is unbinned and multi-dimensional, using machine learning to correct for detector effects. All of the available reconstructed object information of the respective jets is interpreted by a graph neural network, achieving superior precision on a selected set of jet angularities. Training these networks was enabled by the use of a large number of GPUs in the Perlmutter supercomputer at Berkeley Lab. The particle jets are reconstructed in the laboratory frame, using the kT jet clustering algorithm. Results are reported at high transverse momentum transfer Q2>150GeV2, and inelasticity 0.2

Abstract

Abstract The HERAPDF2.0 ensemble of parton distribution functions (PDFs) was introduced in 2015. The final stage is presented, a next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) analysis of the HERA data on inclusive deep inelastic ep scattering together with jet data as published by the H1 and ZEUS collaborations. A perturbative QCD fit, simultaneously of $$\alpha _s(M_Z^2)$$ α s ( M Z 2 ) and the PDFs, was performed with the result $$\alpha _s(M_Z^2)= 0.1156 \pm 0.0011~\mathrm{(exp)}~ ^{+0.0001}_{-0.0002}~ \mathrm{(model}$$ α s ( M Z 2 ) = 0.1156 ± 0.0011 ( exp ) - 0.0002 + 0.0001 ( model $$\mathrm{+ parameterisation)}~ \pm 0.0029~\mathrm{(scale)}$$ + parameterisation ) ± 0.0029 ( scale ) . The PDF sets of HERAPDF2.0Jets NNLO were determined with separate fits using two fixed values of $$\alpha _s(M_Z^2)$$ α s ( M Z 2 ) , $$\alpha _s(M_Z^2)=0.1155$$ α s ( M Z 2 ) = 0.1155 and 0.118, since the latter value was already chosen for the published HERAPDF2.0 NNLO analysis based on HERA inclusive DIS data only. The different sets of PDFs are presented, evaluated and compared. The consistency of the PDFs determined with and without the jet data demonstrates the consistency of HERA inclusive and jet-production cross-section data. The inclusion of the jet data reduced the uncertainty on the gluon PDF. Predictions based on the PDFs of HERAPDF2.0Jets NNLO give an excellent description of the jet-production data used as input.

Abstract

Abstract The determination of the strong coupling constant $$\alpha _{\mathrm{s}} (m_{\mathrm{Z}})$$ α s ( m Z ) from H1 inclusive and dijet cross section data [1] exploits perturbative QCD predictions in next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) [2–4]. An implementation error in the NNLO predictions was found [4] which changes the numerical values of the predictions and the resulting values of the fits. Using the corrected NNLO predictions together with inclusive jet and dijet data, the strong coupling constant is determined to be $$\alpha _{\mathrm{s}} (m_{\mathrm{Z}}) =0.1166\,(19)_{\mathrm{exp}}\,(24)_{\mathrm{th}}$$ α s ( m Z ) = 0.1166 ( 19 ) exp ( 24 ) th . Complementarily, $$\alpha _{\mathrm{s}} (m_{\mathrm{Z}})$$ α s ( m Z ) is determined together with parton distribution functions of the proton (PDFs) from jet and inclusive DIS data measured by the H1 experiment. The value $$\alpha _{\mathrm{s}} (m_{\mathrm{Z}}) =0.1147\,(25)_{\mathrm{tot}}$$ α s ( m Z ) = 0.1147 ( 25 ) tot obtained is consistent with the determination from jet data alone. Corrected figures and numerical results are provided and the discussion is adapted accordingly.

Abstract

Abstract The measurement of the jet cross sections by the H1 collaboration had been compared to various predictions including the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD calculations which are corrected in this erratum for an implementation error in one of the components of the NNLO calculations. The jet data and the other predictions remain unchanged. Eight figures, one table and conclusions are adapted accordingly, exhibiting even better agreement between the corrected NNLO predictions and the jet data.

Abstract

Abstract Charged particle multiplicity distributions in positron-proton deep inelastic scattering at a centre-of-mass energy $$\sqrt{s}=319$$ s = 319 GeV are measured. The data are collected with the H1 detector at HERA corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 136 pb $$^{-1}$$ - 1 . Charged particle multiplicities are measured as a function of photon virtuality $$Q^2$$ Q 2 , inelasticity y and pseudorapidity $$\eta $$ η in the laboratory and the hadronic centre-of-mass frames. Predictions from different Monte Carlo models are compared to the data. The first and second moments of the multiplicity distributions are determined and the KNO scaling behaviour is investigated. The multiplicity distributions as a function of $$Q^2$$ Q 2 and the Bjorken variable $$x_{\mathrm{bj}}$$ x bj are converted to the hadron entropy $$S_{\mathrm{hadron}}$$ S hadron , and predictions from a quantum entanglement model are tested.

Abstract

In deep-inelastic positron-proton scattering, the lepton-jet azimuthal angular asymmetry is measured using data collected with the H1 detector at HERA. When the average transverse momentum of the lepton-jet system, $\lvert \vec{P}_\perp \rvert $, is much larger than the total transverse momentum of the system, $\lvert \vec{q}_\perp \rvert$, the asymmetry between parallel and antiparallel configurations, $\vec{P}_\perp$ and $\vec{q}_\perp$, is expected to be generated by initial and final state soft gluon radiation and can be predicted using perturbation theory. Quantifying the angular properties of the asymmetry therefore provides an additional test of the strong force. Studying the asymmetry is important for future measurements of intrinsic asymmetries generated by the proton's constituents through Transverse Momentum Dependent (TMD) Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs), where this asymmetry constitutes a dominant background. Abstract

Abstract The parameters of the electroweak theory are determined in a combined electroweak and QCD analysis using all deep-inelastic $$e^+p$$ e+p and $$e^-p$$ e-p neutral current and charged current scattering cross sections published by the H1 Collaboration, including data with longitudinally polarised lepton beams. Various fits to Standard Model parameters in the on-shell scheme are performed. The mass of the W boson is determined as $$m_W=80.520\pm 0.115~\mathrm {GeV} $$ mW=80.520±0.115GeV . The axial-vector and vector couplings of the light quarks to the Z boson are also determined. Both results improve the precision of previous H1 determinations based on HERA-I data by about a factor of two. Possible scale dependence of the weak coupling parameters in both neutral and charged current interactions beyond the Standard Model is also studied. All results are found to be consistent with the Standard Model expectations.

Abstract

Abstract Measurements of open charm and beauty production cross sections in deep inelastic ep scattering at HERA from the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations are combined. Reduced cross sections are obtained in the kinematic range of negative four-momentum transfer squared of the photon $$2.5~\hbox {GeV}^2\le Q^2 \le 2000\, \hbox {GeV}^2$$ 2.5GeV2≤Q2≤2000GeV2 and Bjorken scaling variable $$3 \cdot 10^{-5} \le x_\mathrm{Bj} \le 5 \cdot 10^{-2}$$ 3·10-5≤xBj≤5·10-2 . The combination method accounts for the correlations of the statistical and systematic uncertainties among the different datasets. Perturbative QCD calculations are compared to the combined data. A next-to-leading order QCD analysis is performed using these data together with the combined inclusive deep inelastic scattering cross sections from HERA. The running charm- and beauty-quark masses are determined as $$m_c(m_c) = 1.290^{+0.046}_{-0.041} \mathrm{(exp/fit)}$$ mc(mc)=1.290-0.041+0.046(exp/fit) $${}^{+0.062}_{-0.014} \mathrm{(model)}$$ -0.014+0.062(model) $${}^{+0.003}_{-0.031} \mathrm{(parameterisation)}$$ -0.031+0.003(parameterisation) GeV and $$m_b(m_b) = 4.049^{+0.104}_{-0.109} \mathrm{(exp/fit)}$$ mb(mb)=4.049-0.109+0.104(exp/fit) $${}^{+0.090}_{-0.032} \mathrm{(model)}$$ -0.032+0.090(model) $${}^{+0.001}_{-0.031} \mathrm{(parameterisation)}~\mathrm{GeV}$$ -0.031+0.001(parameterisation)GeV .

Abstract

Abstract The strong coupling constant $$\alpha _\mathrm{s}$$ α s is determined from inclusive jet and dijet cross sections in neutral-current deep-inelastic ep scattering (DIS) measured at HERA by the H1 collaboration using next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD predictions. The dependence of the NNLO predictions and of the resulting value of $$\alpha _\mathrm{s} (m_\mathrm{Z})$$ α s ( m Z ) at the Z-boson mass $$m_Z$$ m Z are studied as a function of the choice of the renormalisation and factorisation scales. Using inclusive jet and dijet data together, the strong coupling constant is determined to be $$\alpha _\mathrm{s} (m_\mathrm{Z}) =0.1157\,(20)_\mathrm{exp}\,(29)_\mathrm{th}$$ α s ( m Z ) = 0.1157 ( 20 ) exp ( 29 ) th . Complementary, $$\alpha _\mathrm{s} (m_\mathrm{Z})$$ α s ( m Z ) is determined together with parton distribution functions of the proton (PDFs) from jet and inclusive DIS data measured by the H1 experiment. The value $$\alpha _\mathrm{s} (m_\mathrm{Z}) =0.1142\,(28)_\mathrm{tot}$$ α s ( m Z ) = 0.1142 ( 28 ) tot obtained is consistent with the determination from jet data alone. The impact of the jet data on the PDFs is studied. The running of the strong coupling is tested at different values of the renormalisation scale and the results are found to be in agreement with expectations.

Abstract

The H1 Collaboration at HERA reports the first measurement of groomed event shape observables in deep inelastic electron-proton scattering (DIS) at $\sqrt{s}=319$ GeV, using data recorded between the years 2003 and 2007 with an integrated luminosity of $351$ pb$^{-1}$. Event shapes provide incisive probes of perturbative and non-perturbative QCD. Grooming techniques have been used for jet measurements in hadronic collisions; this paper presents the first application of grooming to DIS data. The analysis is carried out in the Breit frame, utilizing the novel Centauro jet clustering algorithm that is designed for DIS event topologies. Events are required to have squared momentum-transfer $Q^2 > 150$ GeV$^2$ and inelasticity $ 0.2 < y < 0.7$. We report measurements of the production cross section of groomed event 1-jettiness and groomed invariant mass for several choices of grooming parameter. Abstract

The H1 Collaboration reports the first measurement of the 1-jettiness event shape observable $\tau_1^b$ in neutral-current deep-inelastic electron-proton scattering (DIS). The observable $\tau_1^b$ is equivalent to a thrust observable defined in the Breit frame. The data sample was collected at the HERA $ep$ collider in the years 2003-2007 with center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=319\,\text{GeV}$, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $351.1\,\text{pb}^{-1}$. Triple differential cross sections are provided as a function of $\tau_1^b$, event virtuality $Q^2$, and inelasticity $y$, in the kinematic region $Q^2>150\,\text{GeV}^{2}$. Single differential cross section are provided as a function of $\tau_1^b$ in a limited kinematic range. Double differential cross sections are measured, in contrast, integrated over $\tau_1^b$ and represent the inclusive neutral-current DIS cross section measured as a function of $Q^2$ and $y$. The data are compared to a variety of predictions and include classical and modern Monte Carlo event generators, predictions in fixed-order perturbative QCD where calculations up to $\mathcal{O}(\alpha_s^3)$ are available for $\tau_1^b$ or inclusive DIS, and resummed predictions at next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy matched to fixed order predictions at $\mathcal{O}(\alpha_s^2)$. These comparisons reveal sensitivity of the 1-jettiness observable to QCD parton shower and resummation effects, as well as the modeling of hadronization and fragmentation. Within their range of validity, the fixed-order predictions provide a good description of the data. Monte Carlo event generators are predictive over the full measured range and hence their underlying models and parameters can be constrained by comparing to the presented data., Comment: 45 pages, 38 tables, 13 figures

Abstract

Abstract The inclusive photoproduction of D ∗ mesons and of D ∗-tagged dijets is investigated with the H1 detector at the ep collider HERA. The kinematic region covers small photon virtualities Q 21.8 GeV. The heavy quark production process is further investigated in events with at least two jets with transverse momentum p T(jet)>3.5 GeV each, one containing the D ∗ meson. Differential cross sections for D ∗-tagged dijet production and for correlations between the jets are measured in the range |η(D ∗)|2.1 GeV. The results are compared with predictions from Monte Carlo simulations and next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations.

Abstract

Abstract A measurement of the inclusive ep scattering cross section is presented in the region of low momentum transfers, 0.2 GeV2 ≤Q 2≤12 GeV2, and low Bjorken x, 5⋅10−6≤x≤0.02. The result is based on two data sets collected in dedicated runs by the H1 Collaboration at HERA at beam energies of 27.6 GeV and 920 GeV for positrons and protons, respectively. A combination with data previously published by H1 leads to a cross section measurement of a few percent accuracy. A kinematic reconstruction method exploiting radiative ep events extends the measurement to lower Q 2 and larger x. The data are compared with theoretical models which apply to the transition region from photoproduction to deep inelastic scattering.

Abstract

The HERAPDF2.0 ensemble of parton distribution functions (PDFs) was introduced in 2015. The final stage is presented, a next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) analysis of the HERA data on inclusive deep inelastic $ep$ scattering together with jet data as published by the H1 and ZEUS collaborations. A perturbative QCD fit, simultaneously of $\alpha_s(M_Z^2)$ and and the PDFs, was performed with the result $\alpha_s(M_Z^2) = 0.1156 \pm 0.0011~{\rm (exp)}~ ^{+0.0001}_{-0.0002}~ {\rm (model}$ ${\rm +~parameterisation)}~ \pm 0.0029~{\rm (scale)}$. The PDF sets of HERAPDF2.0Jets NNLO were determined with separate fits using two fixed values of $\alpha_s(M_Z^2)$, $\alpha_s(M_Z^2)=0.1155$ and $0.118$, since the latter value was already chosen for the published HERAPDF2.0 NNLO analysis based on HERA inclusive DIS data only. The different sets of PDFs are presented, evaluated and compared. The consistency of the PDFs determined with and without the jet data demonstrates the consistency of HERA inclusive and jet-production cross-section data. The inclusion of the jet data reduced the uncertainty on the gluon PDF. Predictions based on the PDFs of HERAPDF2.0Jets NNLO give an excellent description of the jet-production data used as input., Comment: 43 pages, 24 figures, to be submitted to Eur. Phys. J. C

Abstract

The first measurement of lepton-jet momentum imbalance and azimuthal correlation in lepton-proton scattering at high momentum transfer is presented. These data, taken with the H1 detector at HERA, are corrected for detector effects using an unbinned machine learning algorithm OmniFold, which considers eight observables simultaneously in this first application. The unfolded cross sections are compared to calculations performed within the context of collinear or transverse-momentum-dependent (TMD) factorization in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) as well as Monte Carlo event generators. Abstract

The strong coupling constant $\alpha_s(M_Z)$ is determined from inclusive jet and dijet cross sections in neutral-current deep-inelastic $ep$ scattering (DIS) measured at HERA by the H1 collaboration using next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD predictions. The dependence of the NNLO predictions and of the resulting value of $\alpha_s(M_Z)$ at the $Z$-boson mass $m_Z$ are studied as a function of the choice of the renormalisation and factorisation scales. Using inclusive jet and dijet data together, the strong coupling constant is determined to be $\alpha_s(M_Z)=0.1166\,(19)_{\rm exp}\,(24)_{\rm th}$. Complementary, $\alpha_s(M_Z)$ is determined together with parton distribution functions of the proton (PDFs) from jet and inclusive DIS data measured by the H1 experiment. The value $\alpha_s(M_Z)=0.1147\,(25)_{\rm tot}$ obtained is consistent with the determination from jet data alone. The impact of the jet data on the PDFs is studied. The running of the strong coupling is tested at different values of the renormalisation scale and the results are found to be in agreement with expectations., Comment: 45 pages, 17 figures, with changes discussed in an erratum submitted to EPJ C

Abstract

Recent highlights from the HERA experiments, Hermes, H1 and ZEUS, are reviewed and ideas for future analyses to fully exploit this unique data set are proposed. This document is a summary of a workshop on future physics with HERA data held at DESY, Hamburg at the end of 2014. All areas of HERA physics are covered and contributions from both experimentalists and theorists are included. The document outlines areas where HERA physics can still make a significant contribution, principally in a deeper understanding of QCD, and its relevance to other facilities. Within the framework of the Data Preservation in High Energy Physics, the HERA data have been preserved for analyses to take place over a timescale of 10 years and more. Abstract

The Breit frame provides a natural frame to analyze lepton-proton scattering events. In this reference frame, the parton model hard interactions between a quark and an exchanged boson defines the coordinate system such that the struck quark is back-scattered along the virtual photon momentum direction. In Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), higher order perturbative or non-perturbative effects can change this picture drastically. As Bjorken-$x$ decreases below one half, a rather peculiar event signature is predicted with increasing probability, where no radiation is present in one of the two Breit-frame hemispheres and all emissions are to be found in the other hemisphere. At higher orders in $\alpha_s$ or in the presence of soft QCD effects, predictions of the rate of these events are far from trivial, and that motivates measurements with real data. We report on the first observation of the empty current hemisphere events in electron-proton collisions at the HERA collider using data recorded with the H1 detector at a center-of-mass energy of 319 GeV. The fraction of inclusive neutral-current DIS events with an empty hemisphere is found to be $0.0112 \pm 3.9\,\%_\text{stat} \pm 4.5\,\%_\text{syst} \pm 1.6\,\%_\text{mod}$ in the selected kinematic region of $150< Q^2<1500$ GeV$^2$ and inelasticity $0.14< y<0.7$. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 351.1 pb$^{-1}$, sufficient to enable differential cross section measurements of these events. The results show an enhanced discriminating power at lower Bjorken-$x$ among different Monte Carlo event generator predictions., Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures, 2 Tables. High statistics measurements of the diffractive reduced cross section $\sigma_r^D$ from the H1 collaboration are presented which make use of two different experimental methods to achieve the largest possible coverage of the kinematic phase space at HERA. Abstract

We present the mini-proceedings of the workshop on ``Photoproduction at collider energies: from RHIC and HERA to the LHC'' held at the European Centre for Theoretical Studies in Nuclear Physics and Related Areas (ECT*, Trento) from January 15 to 19, 2007. The workshop gathered both theorists and experimentalists to discuss the current status of investigations of high-energy photon-induced processes at different colliders (HERA, RHIC, and Tevatron) as well as preparations for extension of these studies at the LHC. The main physics topics covered were: (i) small-$x$ QCD in photoproduction studies with protons and in electromagnetic (aka. ultraperipheral) nucleus-nucleus collisions, (ii) hard diffraction physics at hadron colliders, and (iii) photon-photon collisions at very high energies: electroweak and beyond the Standard Model processes. These mini-proceedings consist of an introduction and short summaries of the talks presented at the meeting.

Abstract

The radiation pattern within high energy quark- and gluon-initiated jets (jet substructure) is used extensively as a precision probe of the strong force as well as an environment for optimizing event generators with numerous applications in high energy particle and nuclear physics. Looking at electron-proton collisions is of particular interest as many of the complications present at hadron colliders are absent. A detailed study of modern jet substructure observables, jet angularities, in electron-proton collisions is presented using data recorded using the H1 detector at HERA. The measurement is unbinned and multi-dimensional, using machine learning to correct for detector effects. All of the available reconstructed object information of the respective jets is interpreted by a graph neural network, achieving superior precision on a selected set of jet angularities. Training these networks was enabled by the use of a large number of GPUs in the Perlmutter supercomputer at Berkeley Lab. The particle jets are reconstructed in the laboratory frame, using the $k_{\mathrm{T}}$ jet clustering algorithm. Results are reported at high transverse momentum transfer $Q^2>150$ GeV${}^2$, and inelasticity $0.2 < y < 0.7$. The analysis is also performed in sub-regions of $Q^2$, thus probing scale dependencies of the substructure variables. Abstract

The first measurement of lepton-jet momentum imbalance and azimuthal correlation in lepton-proton scattering at high momentum transfer is presented. These data, taken with the H1 detector at HERA, are corrected for detector effects using an unbinned machine learning algorithm (multifold), which considers eight observables simultaneously in this first application. Abstract

The determination of the strong coupling constant $$\alpha _{\mathrm{s}} (m_{\mathrm{Z}})$$ α s ( m Z ) from H1 inclusive and dijet cross section data [1] exploits perturbative QCD predictions in next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) [2–4]. An implementation error in the NNLO predictions was found [4] which changes the numerical values of the predictions and the resulting values of the fits. Using the corrected NNLO predictions together with inclusive jet and dijet data, the strong coupling constant is determined to be $$\alpha _{\mathrm{s}} (m_{\mathrm{Z}}) =0.1166\,(19)_{\mathrm{exp}}\,(24)_{\mathrm{th}}$$ α s ( m Z ) = 0.1166 ( 19 ) exp ( 24 ) th . Complementarily, $$\alpha _{\mathrm{s}} (m_{\mathrm{Z}})$$ α s ( m Z ) is determined together with parton distribution functions of the proton (PDFs) from jet and inclusive DIS data measured by the H1 experiment. The value $$\alpha _{\mathrm{s}} (m_{\mathrm{Z}}) =0.1147\,(25)_{\mathrm{tot}}$$ α s ( m Z ) = 0.1147 ( 25 ) tot obtained is consistent with the determination from jet data alone. Corrected figures and numerical results are provided and the discussion is adapted accordingly.
