The southern three-banded armadillo Tolypeutes matacus (Desmarest, 1804) is distributed from eastern Bolivia, south-west Brazil, the Gran Chaco of Paraguay and Argentina, and lives in areas with dry vegetation. This armadillo is one of the most frequently consumed species by people in this area. The objective of this work was test for zoonotic species among helminths in 12 intestinal tracts of T. matacus in a locality from the Argentinean Chaco (Chamical, La Rioja province). The parasites were studied with conventional parasite morphology and morphometrics, and prevalence, mean intensity and mean abundance were calculated for each species encountered. In the small intestine, seven species of nematodes and two species of cestodes were identified. In the large intestine, two species of nematodes were recorded. We did not find zoonotic species but have added new host records. This study in the Chaco region thus contributes to growing knowledge of the parasite fauna associated with armadillo species in this region.

Heat propagation and servers’ temperature increase inside data centers racks is a vital issue. So, selecting the proper cooling architecture is an important step during the design of data centers. Traditional cooling systems, called perimeter cooling, consume huge amounts of electricity. A more recent effective cooling architecture of data centers, called in-row cooling where the cooling units are inserted between racks, is commercially suggested to reduce cooling power consumption. The current study numerically investigates the performance of in-row cooling architecture compared with the traditional cooling architecture of data centers of different power densities. Temperature distribution and performance parameters indices such as Supply/Return Heat Indices (SHI/RHI), Return Temperature Index (RTI), Index of Mixing (IOM), Energy Utilization Coefficient (ηr), and Beta Index (β) are used to conduct this comparative study. The study was performed at different rack’s power densities to determine the overall better cooling architecture for the different power densities. The results show that (i) in-row cooling architecture has better thermal performance as observed in temperature contours (ii) SHI, RHI, RTI, ηr, β and IOM have better values in case of in-row cooling, especially at high power densities, which indicates less hot air recirculation and cold air bypass and completely benefit from cooling capacity of CRACs, (iii) perimeter cooling is suitable for low power densities while in-row cooling can be used for high power densities, and (iv) maximum velocity values are obtained for 10 kW rack’s power which dramatically affects the thermal performance of perimeter cooling architecture as indicated by the dramatic decrease of the energy utilization coefficient to 1.4 while it increased for in-row cooling to 1.9.

This research investigates the effects of using aligned/staggered arrangements of cooling units and top aisles containments on the performance of in-rows cooling architectures of data centers. Four different configurations of cooling architectures are numerically set up inside identical data centers of aligned/staggered cooling-units arrangements and with/without top aisles containments. ANSYS IcePak CFD software is used to build models for the four configurations. A scaled physical module of the data center is experimentally constructed and tested for model validation. Air streamlines, velocity vectors and temperature distributions in addition to two-thermal perfromance indices (SHI and IOM) and two-energy efficiency metrics (β and ηr) are used to evaluate and compare thermal environmental and energy efficiency performances of the different configurations. Results show that (i) aligned arrangement has better thermal and energy efficiency performance, (ii) thermal perfromance and energy efficiency indices of intermediate racks of the racks array are better than those of end racks, especially in the staggered arrangements, (iii) thermal environment problem of end racks can be solved by starting and ending racks row by CRAC units, and (iv) using top aisles containment improves the thermal and energy efficiency perfromance indices of data centers racks, especially for intermediate racks.

Selective MSCs differentiation protocol into pancreatic beta cells was conducted in the present study using exendin-4 and TGF-beta. Differentiated and undifferentiated MSCs were assessed in experimental type I diabetes in rats. Ninety female white albino rats were included in the study and divided equally (n=15/group) into 6 groups: healthy control, healthy control rats received acellular tissue culture medium, diabetic rats, diabetic rats received acellular tissue culture medium, diabetic rats received undifferentiated MSCs and diabetic rats received differentiated MSCs. Therapeutic efficacy of undifferentiated versus differentiated MSCs was evaluated via assessment of quantitative gene expressions of insulin1, insulin 2, Smad-2, Smad-3, PDX-1, PAX-4, neuroD. Blood glucose and insulin hormone levels were also assessed. Results showed that quantitative gene expressions of all studied genes showed significant decrease in diabetic rat groups. Use of undifferentiated and differentiated MSCs led to a significant elevation of expression levels of all genes with more superior effect with differentiated MSCs except smad-2 gene. As regards insulin hormone levels, use of either undifferentiated or differentiated MSCs led to a significant elevation of its levels with more therapeutic effect with differentiated MSCs. Blood glucose levels were significantly decreased with both undifferentiated and differentiated MSCs in comparison to diabetic groups but its levels were normalized 2 months after injection of differentiated MSCs. In conclusion, use of undifferentiated or differentiated MSCs exhibited significant therapeutic potentials in experimental type I diabetes in rats with more significant therapeutic effect with the use of differentiated MSCs.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common causes of infertility in women. Surgical treatment of PCOS, either by the antiquated wedge resection or ovarian drilling, is one of the commonly used lines in developing countries due to its low-cost. Premature ovarian failure and diminished ovarian reserve are serious complications of the surgical treatment but no published reports sufficiently highlighted these hazards. In this case series, we report on twenty one women aged between 19–39 years, presented to Infertility Clinic, Assiut Women Health Hospital with ovarian dysfunction, diagnosed within 6–36 months after surgical management of PCOS. Nineteen of them had laparoscopic bilateral ovarian drilling using electrocauterization, and the last two had bilateral wedge resection of the ovaries through minilaparotomy. Accurate and documented diagnosis of PCOS, appropriate surgical training, adjusted thermal injury and adjusted number of punctures are essential for the avoidance of excessive damage to the ovaries. Under treatment (failure of drilling) is much better than premature ovarian failure or diminishing ovarian reserve.

Several amine liquid selective electrodes were prepared based on two active materials, phenol sulfonic acid and l ,2-dihydroxy-3,5- disulfonic acid disodium salt with several plasticizers, di-n-butyl phthalate(ORPH), tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) and a-nitro phenyl octyl ether (NPOE). Electrode parameters were studied including, concentration range, detection limit, slope, life time, response time and pH effect. Excellent results were obtained based on n-hyptyl methyl amine with DBPH and phenol sulfonic acid as an active material. The slope was 56.g mY/decade, concentration range was ranged from 1o·' M to 1o-4 M with correlation coefficient of 0.9999, detection limit of 6 x l o-) M and pH ranged from 5.6 to less than one. Electrode based on tri-hutyl amine as a secondary amine gives a slope 48.4 mV/decade with good results for the other parameters, but for dccyl amine as a primary runine give very poor response. Electrodes based on secondary and tertiat)' amines gives very poor response because incompatibility of NOPE with active material and pvc. Also the study was carried out for a second active material 1,2-dihydroxy- 3,5-disulfonic acid disodium salt and also a good results were obtained.
