In this study, six Turkish local walnut (Juglans regia L.) cultivars grown in the Pozantı district of Adana province of Turkey were characterized in terms of fat, fatty acids, and tocopherols content. Total lipid and fatty acid content were analysed using Gas Chromatography Flame Ionization Technique (GC/FID) while, tocopherol content was analysed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) technique. The total fatty acid levels varied between 62.54% (Yalova-4) to 70.20% (Yalova-2). Three saturated fatty acids were identified and quantified as stearic acid ranging from 1.96 to 3.25%, myristic acid ranging from 0.05 to 0.07% and palmitic acid ranging from 5.98 to 6.84%. As for the unsaturated fatty acids; linoleic acid which a predominant fatty acid (54.13-62.51%), followed by oleic acid (18.82-27.09%), a-linoleic acid (9.83-12.7%), and palmitoleic acid (0.04-0.09%) were detected respectively. In this study, the spectrum of tocopherols comprised three isoforms; α, β, γ were also identified and quantified by HPLC technique. However, δ-tocopherol isoform was not detected. In the all examined walnut cultivars, the total tocopherol content varied from 67.18 (Bilecik) to 173.81 µg/g (Yalova-2). γ-tocopherol, a-tocopherol and β- tocopherol content were found between 61.1 to 164.51 µg/g, 5.43 to 11.53 µg/g and 0.60 to 5.82 µg/g, respectively. Yalova-2 was the most promising cultivar in terms of total oil content and total tocopherol content.

Bu araştırmada gibberelin sentezini engelleyen bir kimyasal madde olan Prohexadione Calcium'un (Pro-Ca) kiraz ağaçlarının bazı vegetatif ve generatif büyüme özellikleri üzerine etkileri incelenmiştir. Pro-Ca uygulamalarında materyal olarak çok doruk dallı sisteme göre terbiye edilmiş olan 5 yaşındaki 0900 Ziraat çeşidi kiraz ağaçları kullanılmıştır. Pro-Ca'nın değişik dozları (0, 125, 250 ve 500 ppm) kiraz ağaçlarının ortalama sürgün uzunluğu 10 cm kadar olduğu dönemde ve bundan 20 gün sonra olmak üzere 2 defada püskürtülmüştür. Pro-Ca uygulamaları deneme ağaçlarının boyu, taç genişliği ve gövde çapı üzerine etkili olmamıştır. Yıllık sürgün uzunlukları açısından Pro-Ca'nın 0 ppm ve 125 ppm dozları arasında önemli bir farklılık bulunmazken, 250 ppm ve 500 ppm Pro-Ca uygulamaları sürgün uzunluklarının % 40 oranında kısaltmasına neden olmuştur. Pro-Ca uygulamaları 0900 Ziraat çeşidi kiraz ağaçlarının çiçek tomurcuğu yoğunluğunu arttırmıştır. Çiçek tomurcuğu yoğunluğunda Tanık ağaçlarınkine (0 ppm) oranla Pro-Ca'nın 125 ppm dozunda 1.5 kat, 250 ppm dozunda 5.6 kat ve 500 ppm dozunda ise 4.3 kat artış olduğu saptanmıştır. Vegetasyon sonunda Pro-Ca uygulanan ağaçların bir yaşlı dalları üzerinde lateral dal oluşumunun tanık ağaçlarınkine göre 4 kat daha fazla olduğu görülmüştür.. Sonuç olarak, Pro-Ca uygulamalarının kuvvetli gelişme gösteren kiraz ağaçlarında vegetatif gelişmenin azaltılarak generatif gelişmenin uyartılması açısından yararlı bir uygulama olabileceği belirlenmiştir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Sürgün büyümesi, çiçek tomurcuğu yoğunluğu, Prunus avium , 0900 Ziraat çeşidi. In this study the effects of Prohexadione Calcium (Pro-Ca)- a gibberelic acid inhibitor- on some vegetative and generative develeopment parameters. The trees of five- year old 0900 Ziraat sweet cherry cultivar trained under multiple leader system was used as an experimental material. Different doses of Pro-Ca ((0, 125, 250 ve 500 ppm) were sprayed to the trees. The trees were first sprayed when new shoot lenghts reached to 10 cm and repetaed 20 days after the first spray. Pro-Ca treatments did not affect the tree height, crown size or stem diameter. In average shoot lenghts, there was ot significant difference between control trees (0 ppm) and 125 ppm Pro-Ca treatment. However, 250 ppm ppm and 500 ppm Pro-Ca treatments decreased the shoot lenghts as much as 40 %. Pro-Ca treatments also increased the flower bud density of sweet cherry trees. In comparison to that of control trees, flower bud density was increased 1.5 fold by 125 ppm Pro-Ca, 5.6 fold by 250 ppm Pro-Ca and 4.3 fold by 500 ppm Pro-Ca treatments. At the end of growing season, the number lateral branches on one- year- old wood in Pro-Ca treated trees was found as four fold higher than that of control trees. In conclusion, Pro-Ca treatment was appeared as a useful tool for decreasing the vegetative growth and thereby stimulating the generative development in strong growing sweet cherry trees.
