Introduction: Physical activity is critical for health promotion and the prevention of noncommunicable illnesses, especially among teenagers. However, teenagers' active participation in physical exercise may be hampered by perceived impediments to physical activity. Objective: This study aimed to identify the external and internal barriers to physical activities among adolescents, as well as any differences in these barriers between males and females. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out among 600 adolescent students (aged 11–16) from a public school in Jordan. A self-administered questionnaire with 12 items assessed barriers to physical activity. Internal and external barriers were identified, and statistical analyses were performed using SPSS. Results: Male adolescents reported more perceived hurdles to physical exercise than female adolescents, with lack of time and lack of self-confidence being the most significant impediments. External impediments were more prominent than internal barriers, particularly a lack of resources. The total score for external barriers was significantly higher than that for internal barriers. "Lack of resources" was the most important external barrier (mean = 3.49), and "lack of self-confidence" was the most significant internal barrier (mean = 3.47). Male and female teenagers differed in the obstacles of "lack of self-confidence" (p =.045) and "lack of time" (p =.040). The most significant perceived hurdles included a lack of awareness of the health benefits of exercise, concerns about appearance while exercising, limited access to fitness centers, lack of exercise equipment at home, and insufficient spare time due to a packed class schedule. Conclusion: It is critical to implement interventions that address the identified barriers to physical activity, particularly among female adolescents, such as improving opportunities for physical activity and providing social support for participation. Background: With an increase in elderly people, it is essential to address the issue of cognitive impairment and support healthy aging. This study aimed to assess cognitive impairment and factors associated with it among older adults. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in different catchment areas within the Jerash governorate in the north of Jordan. The Elderly Cognitive Assessment Questionnaire (ECAQ) and a household face-to-face interview were used to collect data from 220 older adult participants aged 60 years and more. Descriptive statistics were conducted to describe the study variables. Correlation tests were applied to find associations between them. Logistic regression analysis was applied, with a minimum significance level (p < 0.05). Results: About 9.10% of the older adults had cognitive impairment. Cognitive impairment was correlated with age, self-perceived health, hypertension, stroke, and mental illness. The primary predictors of cognitive impairment were age [odds ratio (OR) =1.07 (1.01-1.14), p = 0.001] and stroke [OR = 10.92 (1.44-82.85), p = 0.001]. Conclusions: While many factors were correlated with cognitive impairment, the strongest predictors of cognitive impairment were age and stroke. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Tracheostomy care is a standard procedure that nurses perform in Critical Care Units (CCUs) to reduce complications from tracheostomy. The literature indicates a clear variety of care and practice in managing tracheostomy patients within the healthcare system. This study was conducted to assess the knowledge level of tracheostomy care among nurses in CCUs in Jordanian hospitals. Materials and Methods: A cross sectional descriptive design was used for this study. A convenience sample of 260 nurses working in the CCUs of four government hospitals completed a self reported structured questionnaire. Data were collected from January 2021 to March 2021. A t test and one way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used to assess the differences among socio demographic variables in terms of knowledge score. Results: The result revealed that the level of knowledge was suboptimal. There was a statistically significant difference in the mean level of knowledge regarding tracheostomy care (in all dimensions) by age (F = 22.595, p < 0.001), educational level (F = 355.30, p < 0.001), and work experience (F = 13.63, p < 0.001). For gender, there was a statistically significant difference in knowledge of the tracheostomy suctioning dimension (p = 0.001). Conclusions: The level of knowledge among nurses regarding tracheostomy care was moderate, indicating an urgent need for education. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy (TC) is a stress caused heart condition, it might be transient or complicated with other irreversible conditions. Recently, many case reports were released indicating of COVID-19 cases complicated with TC. This paper aimed to review studies that examined the correlation between COVID-19 and TC. An electronic search was carried out using PubMed and Google Scholar data base. The TC is one of the major COVID-19 complications that must be taken into consideration. Recently, despite the development of cancer pain treatment, many cancer patients still suffer from pain. This review aimed to explore the patients-related barriers to pain management among cancer patients. The electronic searching was conducted in a different database: Google Scholar, CINAHL and PubMed. According to previous studies barriers can classified into patients/family-related barriers, health care provided-related barriers, and institutional-related barriers. Patient-related barriers were reluctant to report pain, fear from tolerance, addiction, and side effect, and culture. Surgical site infection (SSI) is a significant cause of morbidity, mortality, and increased hospital stay time and costs after the operation. This paper aimed to review studies that explored the potential effectiveness of using depilatory cream to decrease the occurrence rate of surgical site infections as early preparation of cleaning area of the postoperative wound incision. An electronic search was carried out using PubMed and Google Scholar data bases. This review showed that there is a little amount of evidence on the effectiveness of using chemical hair removal with patients undergoing elective surgeries to decrease the risk of surgical site infections. Depilation before surgery has been used as a procedure to prevent hair from interacting with the recovering wound area. For preoperative surgical site hair removal, shaving, clipping, and chemical depilation are performed in hospitals. Chemical depilation requires adding a hair removal cream to the skin to remove the hair, and when this approach is used for hair removal, it is suggested that injuries and subsequent wound infection will be less. Background Methods Results Conclusion Providing care for people with dementia incorporates a level of burden which can affect quality of life for both the caregiver and the recipient of care. This study measures the level of burden experienced by Jordanian caregivers for people with dementia and explore related predictors.Through a cross‐sectional survey, participants were invited through convenience sampling to participate in a structured interview.A total of 406 participants completed the survey. According to Zarit Burden Interview, the mean burden score of the sample was 26.2 (SD = 16.2). This score falls under the mild to moderate burden level. Older age of the patient, severe dementia, lower number of caregivers, if the caregiving negatively affected family relations, and if the caregiving negatively affected jobs, were significant predictors of burden.Caregivers in the current study reported no burden to a minimum burden. This result does not mean that these caregivers have no or minimal stress or that they do not have psychological needs; on the contrary, these results call for more attention to providing extra psychological and emotional support to caregivers of patients with dementia in order to decrease the burden level and maintain their efforts in caregiving.
