Abstract

The article discusses the theories of practice by C. Argyris and D. Schön and a case study of successful school principals that mapped their theories of practice of instructional leadership. It points out that the theories are ways for explanation and control under which all humans operate to explain their experience, predict future events and control outcomes. It indicates that the framework for theories of practice offers an approach for understanding the work of school principals in an era of government mandated school reform.
