- Abstract
The constant and progressive technological developments mainly initiated one decade ago and which profoundly affect society, mostly on the relational model, are directly and significantly impacting mobility due to two convergent and complementary phenomena: connectivity and automation. These new technologies, considered in the automotive industry as key pieces for future business and social models, will be essential in road traffic within few years thus contributing to the reduction of accidents, congestion and emissions o as to reach a really sustainable, safe, inclusive and healthy mobility. This authentic technological revolution is demanding the Administration responsible for road safety and traffic management to adopt a leading role in order to tackle and address challenges with open and flexible regulatory initiatives that should take into account the evolution of automated systems and facilitate the introduction of safely and socially acceptable new technology.
