In recent years, the electric car (e-car) market has seen noticeable growth attributed to technological advancements and new research offering multiple innovation possibilities for businesses, which should effectively bring new technologies to market, create added value for customers, and capture value for manufacturers. Leveraging data-driven methods and analytics within the e-car market is instrumental in guiding decision-making processes and facilitating the development of new value propositions and services. This study aims to provide insights into the evolution of e-car features, identify potential market segments, and support data-driven decision-making in business and marketing research. Our analysis focuses on e-car data from 2010–2023, utilizing data-driven techniques such as principal component analysis, clustering, trend analysis, and enrichment analysis. The trend analysis considers the series start year of e-car models and their corresponding summarized features as principal components and examines changes over time. Hierarchical cluster analysis then allows us to identify distinct segments in the e-car market, while enrichment analysis with respect to the series start year and brand helps us understand the latest innovations in different segments. Our analysis reveals a potential trend in the e-car market, suggesting a shift towards medium-and medium-large-sized cars that offer improved range, speed, and lower energy consumption. Additionally, the identified six clusters as the latest segments, which, in conjunction with the trend analysis, present opportunities for optimizing product development and identifying new market spaces. Car dependence is a trend brought about by the desire for comfortable transportation, in many countries around the world. After the invention and acceptance of automobiles, cities were designed with layouts that favored automobiles at the expense of other forms of transportation. However, the situation has changed with research and execution of plans for smart cities, with smart mobility transition taking centre stage. The purpose of this research is to highlight the need for transition to smart mobility, provide detailed description of various aspects of smart mobility and analyse the challenges and opportunities associated with the transition to smart mobility in car-dependent countries. A thorough and critical review of the literature has been done to achieve the aim of this study. Previous research efforts indicated that car-dependent cities have experienced several challenges in their transition to smart mobility, including inadequate infrastructure, low acceptance of new technological solutions, inadequate knowledge and framework for big data, financial constraints, data quality management, integration of data from different sources, privacy issues, and development of appropriate of government policies. There are several promising recommendations, which implementation is expected to help car-dependent countries overcome the above challenges and open opportunities for a successful transition. These recommendations include implementation of aggressive government policies, practicing greater inclusivity, and planning for the future of smart mobility by investing in Internet of Things (IoT) applications and reliable infrastructure. Implementing industrial policies to develop the new energy vehicle industry and improve technological innovation related to new energy vehicles is essential for countries dealing with environmental pollution and climate change. This paper first examines the impact of a demand-side industry policy related to new energy vehicles on the technological innovation level of supply-side vehicle enterprises. Regarding the new energy vehicle purchase tax exemption policy implemented by the Chinese government in 2014 as a quasi-experiment, this paper constructs a multi-period difference-in-differences (DID) model to identify the impact of the demand-side preferential tax policy on the technological innovation level of vehicle enterprises. In our DID design, 178 enterprises are in the treatment group and 166 enterprises in the control group, with 3,440 balanced panel data of observations. The results show that this policy can significantly promote the technological innovation of new energy vehicle enterprises. This promotion effect is greater in magnitude in large-scale enterprises, high-tech enterprises, and enterprises producing passenger vehicles. Theoretically, we believe that the demand-side tax exemption policy mainly indirectly promotes the technological innovation level of automobile enterprises through the signal channel and profit channel. The use of smart devices is driving the growth of modern systems markets, resulting in more technological cities, cars, houses, and airplanes. Therefore, it is important to understand which smart technologies can support or even fulfill stakeholder needs and consequently enhance airplane operation and increase product competitiveness for airlines. This paper is the second of two-part series and has as its main objective the study of smart technologies that can be implemented on cabins of regional airplanes, from 60 to 120 seats, to comply with the needs and requirements pre-established on the first part of this series of articles. The integration of those technologies results in a "Smart Cabin" architecture which its purpose is to enhances the passenger experience by granting a new level of cabin comfort, customization, and connectivity that allows the reduction of airplane time on ground because of the real-time monitoring of airplane cabin components that enables the prediction of maintenance procedures; creates new profits and revenues opportunities for services, provides a more sustainable airplane operation and derived services, and creates new business opportunities for all companies that integrate regional aviation ecosystem. Different industrial sectors are assuming measures to mitigate their greenhouse gas emissions, facing the imminent materialization of climate change effects. In the transport sector, one of the measures involves the change in energy source of vehicles, leading to a transition from vehicles powered by fossil fuels (conventional) to electric. Nevertheless, electric vehicles have different drivers that promote their purchases. This work only considers the informed buyers' interest in making their decisions using environmental criteria. However, these technologies have a series of impacts, including the generation of hazardous waste such as used batteries, which leads consumers to question the environmental impacts generated by conventional and electric vehicles; consequently, it is uncertain which prospective scenarios will dominate in various nations and what will promote them. Therefore, the proposed model is studied as a dynamical system, with bifurcations of codimension 2, which means that it is possible to represent all possible prospective scenarios of this configuration through a bifurcation diagram. In this way, the analysis allows us to find that four families of technological transitions (trajectories that qualitatively can be identified as being of the same behavior class) emerge from the relationships established in the system, showing similarities to the different transition situations recognized on the planet. This model is an attractive tool to classify automobiles' technological transitions, despite having no other criteria. This Article addresses the situation in which a car acts as a witness against its human driver in a court of law. This possibility has become a reality due to technology embedded in modern-day vehicles that captures data prior to a crash event. The authors contend that it is becoming increasingly difficult for drivers to defend themselves in a meaningful way against the testimony of cars and suggest that crowdsourcing data could be a viable option for assessing the trustworthiness of such evidence. The Article further explores whether crowdsourced data could be used as an additional source of information in the fact-finding process and if such data could provide a counterbalance to the prevailing tendency to fault human drivers rather than their vehicles or the manufactures of their vehicles. The practical importance of this issue in the age of driving automation is highlighted, and lawyers, judges, and lawmakers are urged to remain open-minded regarding the use of this new strategy. Purpose: Environmental pollution has emerged as a major concern in the 21st century following the introduction of sustainable development (SD) by the year 2030, whereby one of the predominant goals is related to the manufacturing industry. In Malaysia, the automotive industry is acknowledged as the backbone driving for economic growth and recognised as a source of environmental deterioration. Therefore, eco-innovation is, thus, introduced as one of the efforts for minimised environmental effects, reduced social impact and firm value sustenance. In particular, eco-product innovation is one of the renowned environmental innovation dimensions and displays high adoption and diffusion rates in developed countries due to green awareness and government financial assistance. However, developing countries such as Malaysia show relatively low adoption of such practices amongst companies, whereby most of the efforts are driven by the governments, supplier and customer demands. Therefore, this paper aims to delineate the factors of voluntary initiatives undertaken by the Malaysian automotive and auto parts industry towards eco-product innovation. Design/methodology/approach: The research drew from the micro-level perspective, thus using dynamic capabilities (DC) constructs and environmental management system (EMS) strategy variables. The constructs included technology collaboration, green human resources and eco-culture, while the variables denoted formal EMS and top management support. Survey data were obtained from 242 entities within the Malaysian automotive and auto parts industry, which were subjected to analysis via confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling. Findings: The findings revealed the moderating role played by eco-product innovation for the association linking EMS strategy and sustainability development, while no moderator effects were observed between DC and sustainability development. Thus, future research can be performed in the meso and macro-level areas by using qualitative research across different sectors. Originality/value: This paper explicates novel literature content, particularly for the field of eco-product innovation; it positions an empirical analysis from the micro-level perspective regarding the antecedence of DC and environmental strategy towards eco-product innovation and SD, mainly in the automotive industry. The horizontal competition-cooperation game of technological innovation in a two-stage automobile cluster supply chain composed of a duopoly of automobile manufacturers and a single automobile dealer is studied. The four game models are constructed based on the relationship of horizontal competition cooperation between automobile manufacturers and research and development (R&D) mode, and each game model gives the optimal price decision and optimal technical content decision of new products when the automobile manufacturer and automobile dealer maximise their profits. By comparing the equilibrium results of each game model and conducting numerical simulation analysis, we reveal the effects of the competition-cooperation relationship and R&D mode on supply chain decision-making. The results show the following: (1) A fully cooperative innovation strategy can maximise the total profit of automobile manufacturers, but it will reduce the profit of the automobile dealer. (2) When the horizontal competition is not fierce and the consumption preference for technical content is weak, innovation strategy of competition cooperation (competition but cooperative R&D) can enable the automobile dealer to obtain the maximum profit. With the development of urbanisation and the increasing number of modern vehicles, traffic contamination has become an important source of environmental pollution. Most previous studies have focused on using roadside soil or plants to determine the spatial pattern of traffic pollutants along roads and the factors that influence this pattern, whereas few studies have reconstructed pollution histories caused by traffic using suitable methods. In this study, two gravity cores were obtained from Qianhu Lake, which is in the Zhongshan tourist area of Nanjing City and is distant from industrial areas. An accurate chronological framework covering the period from 1994 to 2014 was established using the correlation between the variation in grain size of the sediment cores and the variation in annual rainfall in Nanjing City. Moreover, magnetic and chemical parameters were also measured, and the results demonstrated that concentration-related magnetic parameters exhibited different correlations with different heavy metal concentrations. These correlations were significantly positive for Zn, Pb, and Co; weakly positive for Ni; absent for Cr; and negative for V. Combined with statistical data on industrial emissions and private cars in Nanjing City since 1994, the observed variations in magnetic susceptibility, anhysteretic remanent magnetisation, saturation isothermal remanent magnetisation, Zn, Pb, and Co, were controlled by traffic activities in the tourist area but not by industry. Therefore, the variations in these parameters record the traffic pollution history of the study area. Combined with the obtained chronological framework, the traffic-related pollution history could be divided into two stages: 1) from 1994 to 2003, when traffic-related pollution became increasingly serious because of the exponential increase in the number of private cars and the prosperity of tourism; 2) from 2003 to 2014, when traffic-related pollution continuously increased but at a much slower rate than in stage 1. This slower rate of increase was probably related to the maximum carrying capacity of the tourist area and technological innovations in automobile manufacturing, as well as improvements in fuels. At the end of the 19th-century three technologies had emerged as sources of motive power for the automobile: steam, internal combustion, and electric motors. In 1900, in the United States and around the world, each of these powered a roughly equal number of automobiles. Thus, the early period of automobile development offers fertile ground for the study of technological path choice. At that time, it appeared that the electric motor was poised to become the dominant automotive technology. However, the internal combustion engine achieved this status instead. Although a large number of studies have examined the history of the automobile with a view to determining the reasons for the emergence of the internal combustion engine as the dominant technology for the car engine (especially its choice over the electric motor), no consensus has emerged of what the critical factors were. A close reexamining of the history allows us to identify the years 1900-1904 as the period during which the automobile's technological path was determined. A review of the conditions prevailing during this period and the stages of development of the sociotechnical systems in which each of the alternative automotive technologies was embedded helps us identify the aspiration for touring as the key factor fixing the path for the technological development of the automobile from that point on. The research explores the nexus between technological innovation and green growth in nine newly industrialized (NI) countries for the period from 2000 to 2016. Cross-sectional dependence and unit root tests are preliminary conducted. Pedroni's panel cointegration and fully modified OLS (FMOLS) confirm the existence of long-run variables association. The outcome from IPAT, STIRPAT, and MLR reveals that production and processing-related technologies are harmful to green growth. Climate change mitigation technologies linked to transportation, water treatment, and processing have a positive impact on green growth. However, energy consumption, generation, and transmission technologies hurt the environment. Similarly, energy consumption in the agriculture sector adds in greenhouse gas emission, whereas, renewable energy is contributing positively to green production and growth. Environmental taxes and research and development budgets are playing a decisive role in the pursuit of green growth. The objective of the present study is to determine the relationship between social capital (bonding and bridging) and results published by research, technological development, and innovation groups at higher education institutions (HEIs) from the state of Atlántico, Colombia. A literature review (Scielo, Scopus, Elsevier, and Emerald) between the years 2010 and 2020 is performed. Social capital references are compared to collaboration profile indicators for research groups ranked by the Ministry of Science and Technology from the state of Atlántico. The results show and highlight that the relationships that researchers establish allow generating institutional value since they promote learning and respond to surrounding needs. It is concluded that as HEIs generate new knowledge, a part of this can be seen represented by their research groups' internal and external relationships, which facilitates and strengthens their work as they establish cohesive and collaborative connections. Nowadays, the Internet of Vehicles has become the focus of global technological innovation and transformation in the automotive industry. Its flow modelling appears to play a very important role for designing and controlling the transportation systems, since it is not only necessary for improving safety and transportation efficiency but also can yield a series of society, economy, and ecosystem environment problems. Considering the characteristics of the frame structure includes states and actions and discrete and continuous aspects of traffic flow dynamics, both petri net and Z have proved to be useful tools for modelling the Internet of Vehicles. It can formally describe the vehicle behavior accurately with petri net and more details with Z frame structure. A new integration formal method of time petri net and Z is presented in this paper for modelling the vehicle behaviors and traffic rules through taking into account state dependencies on external rules. Moreover, a case study in the Internet of Vehicles is proposed to deal with the accurate localization of events. The automobile permeated Western societies in the twentieth century and enjoys hegemonic protection. Nevertheless, profound changes in mobility are looming, posing new challenges for mobility research. This article develops a four-dimensional understanding of hegemony, which encompasses the integral state, material and ideological dimensions and people's everyday practices, in order to analyse the changes in mobility. The Gramscian approach is characterized by a profound conception of power relations and serves as an instrument for analysing social struggles and related actor constellations. This understanding not only enables a precise determination of the hegemonic safeguarding of the automobile, but also of the emerging fractures in the automotive consensus and the perspectives of counter-hegemonic strategies. Based on this Gramscian perspective, the article analyses the safeguarding and brittleness of car hegemony in Germany. It is concluded that although windows of opportunity have opened for a less car-centric mobility regime, these currently lack a fundamental politicisation of the car and involvement of labour required to innovate beyond narrow ecological modernisation, which would see only moderate modal shift and technological uptake of post-fossil drivetrains while otherwise leaving the hegemony of the car unchallenged. Knowledge-sharing strategies are used across the industry as open innovation and distributed collaboration are becoming more popular to achieve technological competencies, faster time-to-market, competitiveness and growth. Sharing of knowledge can provide benefits to manufacturing and new product development (NPD) companies in improving their product quality and enhancing business potential. This paper examines the implementation of knowledge-sharing strategies in New Zealand aimed at bridging the physical locational issues to achieve collaborative benefits in NPD firms through an in-depth case study. The analysis of this only one, but interesting, case extends a holistic multi-mediation model by Pateli and Lioukas for the effect of functional involvement in a distributed collaborative product development environment. This study explores the external and internal knowledge transfer and how it affects early-stage, late-stage, and the overall product development process. Findings present a knowledge-sharing toolset that enhances innovation in all stages of product development overcoming the environmental factors to improve early and late-stage development through a two-way knowledge-transfer loop with distributed stakeholders. An encouraging management culture is found as key for transparent knowledge transfer across cross-functional teams. How to utilize human, financial, and material resources reasonably in the technological innovation of new energy vehicles to obtain the maximum benefit with the least investment is an important issue that needs to be solved urgently. This paper employs the stochastic frontier model to analyze the innovation efficiency and its influencing factors of new energy vehicles in China. The investment of innovation is divided into four dimensions: human resource input, R&D input, technology acquirement input and environment support input. The results demonstrate that the mean of innovation efficiency of the new energy vehicle industry is low in general. The Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions have the highest innovation efficiency comparable to that of other regions. There is a significant positive impact of asset turnover ratio, per capita compensation of management, and education level on innovation efficiency. The effects of asset-liability ratio and government support on innovation efficiency are not significant. But the government support has a significant positive moderation effect on innovation efficiency through financial factors. Transportation disadvantage is about the difficulty accessing mobility services required to complete activities associated with employment, shopping, business, essential needs, and recreation. Technological innovations in the field of smart mobility have been identified as a potential solution to help individuals overcome issues associated with transportation disadvantage. This paper aims to provide a consolidated understanding on how smart mobility innovations can contribute to alleviate transportation disadvantage. A systematic literature review is completed, and a conceptual framework is developed to provide the required information to address transportation disadvantage. The results are categorized under the physical, economic, spatial, temporal, psychological, information, and institutional dimensions of transportation disadvantage. The study findings reveal that: (a) Primary smart mobility innovations identified in the literature are demand responsive transportation, shared transportation, intelligent transportation systems, electric mobility, autonomous vehicles, and Mobility-as-a-Services. (b) Smart mobility innovations could benefit urban areas by improving accessibility, efficiency, coverage, flexibility, safety, and the overall integration of the transportation system. (c) Smart mobility innovations have the potential to contribute to the alleviation of transportation disadvantage. The continued failure to put transport on a robust low carbon transition pathway calls for new approaches in policy and research. In studies of transport systems and patterns of mobility, established approaches to data collection, analysis and subsequent policy design have focused on capturing 'typical' conditions rather than identifying the potential for substantive change. This focus on the apparent aggregate stability of the transport regime has reproduced a belief in policy circles that our current travel patterns are largely fixed and therefore very difficult to alter, which in turn has resulted in an over reliance on implausible assumptions about the carbon reductions that can be achieved through technological improvements such as low emission vehicles. This paper argues that there is potentially much greater adaptive capacity in the mobility system than currently allowed for. It illustrates this potential through the investigation of actual adaptations made during a set of specific 'disruptive' events. The paper concludes by suggesting that we can go further in reducing the demand for travel if we broaden the scope of intervention to take a wider view of when and how mobility matters to participation in activities across the population. Port city is the result of interactive development of city and port, and international port city is the advanced stage of port city development. Firstly, the evaluation index system of international port city is constructed, which includes openness and internationalization of the city, economic development and technological innovation, port radiation and influence, balanced development and ecological environment, residents' life and social development. Taking Ningbo as an example, the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is used to evaluate the international port city. The results show that Ningbo port has strong radiation and influence, the urban development is not balanced, and the level of urban openness and internationalization needs to be improved. In the opening years of the 21st century, the City of Orlando transformed itself into one of the premier destinations in the United States. Fuelled by its innovative entertainment and theme-park industry, Orlando expanded steadily into a balanced mix of research and development, aerospace, information technologies and healthcare and tourism, augmented by a growing population and attractive environment. The Orlando International Airport reflects these trends, and after several initiations in the development of its south campus, which were deferred by economic downturns, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) realised sufficient, sustained traffic growth and commenced the planning of a South Terminal Complex in 2012. As airport technological advancements exploded in the years following 2001, GOAA imagined the new South Terminal facilities to be not only state-of-the-ar t, reflecting the vibrancy and hospitality of Central Florida, but also incorporating technologies seen only in the world's most visionary airports. Pivotal to the South Terminal vision was the elevation of the passenger experience, known by GOAA and the Orlando community as The Orlando Experience, to a new world-class level. Achieving this vision within the many practical boundary conditions that face airports everywhere — efficiency of movement, cost management, operating flexibility for air carriers etc — demanded a no vel approach to terminal development. GOAA undertook a conceptually simple but rarely practiced programme to create a practically remarkable passenger facility. This paper examines the background, approach and delivery of GOAA's successful programme, focusing on integrating technological components and innovations into a large capital programme. Also, while technology and innovation have become the handmaidens of elevated passenger experience for airports, rarely have they been built into the design and construction of a new facility at the scale of Orlando. Globally, there are a wide variety of policies in place that could help contribute to deep greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions in the light-duty vehicle sector. Most regions are impacted by a mix of such policies. However, the transportation literature has devoted little attention to policy mixes, especially in the light-duty vehicles sector, so here we review and draw insights from the broader, mostly non-transport literature. We identify several rationales for pursuing mixes of policies: (i) the "three legs" approach to transport decarbonization, namely that different policies should address different GHG reduction areas (low-carbon fuels, vehicle efficiency and reduced travel demand), (ii) the "market failure" perspective that a different policy is needed to correct each market failure, (iii) the "political process" perspective that considers the real-world need for a policy mix to be perceived as political acceptability, and (iv) the "systems" perspective that policy needs to send signals to channel technological innovation and break the lock-in of incumbent practices. Based on this review, we develop a simple framework for examining policy interactions across multiple criteria, namely GHG mitigation, cost-effectiveness, political acceptability, and transformative signal. We demonstrate this framework by setting hypotheses for interactions across six light-duty vehicle policies in the case of British Columbia, Canada – including a carbon tax, electric vehicle purchase incentives, infrastructure deployment, and three regulations. Although the concept has continued since the existence of humanity, it has been scientifically examined in the last century. The concept of logistics has emerged mainly because of military requirements. Depending on the development of economic and trade, technological inventions and the progresses at the business level, military logistics has shifted to a business logistics and started to develop rapidly after 1950s. In the 1980s and 1990s, the concept of logistics, which differentiated into" Logistics Management (LM)" and "Supply Chain Management (SCM)", became a multi-dimensional concept that included purchasing, production, storage, inventory management, transportation and customer relations. From this point, the historical development of logistics will be examined. In this perspective, firstly, the process for emergence of logistics and the meaning of the word will be discussed. Then, the military logistics development leading to the emergence of logistics as a discipline will be examined. In this context, historical facts and technological developments that contribute to the development of logistics strategy will be analyzed under a separate heading. Then, the transition process from military logistics to business logistics will be analyzed and the differentiation of business logistics in the form of logistics management and supply chain management and Logistics 4.0 understanding will be discussed. The relationship between collaborative innovation and innovation efficiency has attracted the attention of researchers in recent years. However, few studies have integrated intra‐regional and inter‐regional collaborative innovations (IRCI) into a unified framework to analyze the overall impact of regional innovation efficiency. To fill this gap, this paper uses an improved Data Envelopment Analysis Model to measure the innovation efficiency of Chinese cities from 2003 to 2016 based on the regional innovation capability. Using the Coupling Coordination Degree Model to measure the degree of intra‐regional collaborative innovation, we constructed a Capability Structure Model to measure the degree of IRCI, then used the Spatial Durbin Model to empirically analyze the influence of intra‐regional and IRCI on regional innovation efficiency. The results show that: (a) both intra‐regional and IRCI promote regional innovation efficiency, but the internal factors are the primary influences on regional innovation efficiency; (b) intra‐regional collaborative innovation not only promotes local regional innovation efficiency but also promotes innovation efficiency in other regions effectively, although its driving effect on the local region is higher than on other regions; (c) there is a time lag in promoting regional innovation efficiency through the cooperation and interaction among innovation in knowledge, technological, industrial, and service, and environment capabilities. Technological innovations gives the opportunity to create so-called Smart Ports. However, determining which technologies to choose, how to implement them remains a challenge. The research problem presented in the article is: Is the constant introduction and implementation of the concept of intelligent ports an irreversible trend determining the direction of development of modern seaports? The aim of the article is also to analyze projects introduced in the ports of the North Sea and Baltic Sea which are successively implementing the concept of a Smart Port. Innovation is an important driver of economic progress, benefiting consumers, business and the economy as whole. However, innovation companies face high risks because innovation requires a lot of resources, and it is difficult to predict a payback period in advance. This is common for all types of innovation, but especially to technological innovation. One of the least researched technological innovations is telematics, innovative transport monitoring and control technology solutions. Those are widely applied in logistics, car-sharing platforms and the public transport sector. These innovations help to achieve the goals of the companies that buy and install them, but question what impact they have on the competitiveness of the companies that create these innovations remains a matter of debate. To fill this gap, the purpose of this article is to determine the impact of technological innovation on the competitiveness of telematics companies. In pursuit of this goal, the concepts of technological innovation and competitiveness are revealed. The definition of telematics innovation and its significance for the competitiveness of enterprises was also formed. The empirical part discusses the telematics market, provides the analysis of the main competitiveness indicators of 8 telematics companies and their changes, as well as the analysis of the research and development (R&D) costs and the impact of innovations on competitiveness. Applied research methods: a critical analysis of scientific literature, generalization, systematization of data, computation, and comparison of relative indicator, data dispersion indicator, and dynamics indicator, correlation, and regression analysis. The research reveals that creation and development innovation are related to competitiveness of telematics companies. The past years have witnessed a surge of academic interest into how new industrial paths are developed in regions. Transformation processes of existing regional industries have received less attention. This article focuses on radical innovation-based renewal processes of established paths and investigates how regional innovation systems are tackling challenges related to path transformation. Drawing on insights from the regional and technological innovation systems literatures, we develop an analytical framework that elucidates the relation between path transformation and system reconfiguration. The framework suggests that regional innovation system elements are created or adapted to (i) target the build-up of system functions regionally; (ii) link up to system functions in other locations, and (iii) transplant system functions from elsewhere. The analytical framework is applied to a case study of the transformation of the automotive industry in West Sweden towards self-driving cars. The empirical analysis provides support for the importance of the three types of system reconfiguration and emphasises the relevance of different types of assets. Furthermore, it highlights how actors tend to utilise previous networks and positions in global innovation systems rather than turning to the development of system functions regionally as the 'default option' of system reconfiguration. The automotive industry is a critically important stakeholder influencing the sustainability of passenger transport. How traditional car manufacturers respond to carbon reduction and vehicle targets, alongside other selection pressures, can greatly influence the availability and affordability of new innovations such as electric vehicles. In this paper, we explore the automotive innovation styles surrounding two electric vehicles: the BMW i3, and the Fiat 500e. To do so, we tie together ideas from technological innovation systems and corporate product innovation style. Our results illustrate a case of a "compliance car," the Fiat 500e, vs. the first mass production EV by a major German car manufacturer, the BMW i3. BMW adheres to a transformative change-shaping innovation style that attempts to promote in-house learning that can create value. Fiat adheres to a conservative sustaining innovation style that attempts to outsource innovation, promotes limited learning, and focuses on maintaining value. This paper investigates whether environmental or energy-efficiency regulations induce innovations in relevant technologies through focusing on the tightening of Japanese fuel economy regulations in the 1990s and the early 2000s. Unlike previous studies that analyze patent data, I use vehicle-level specification data for 1985–2004 to estimate whether regulatory pressure accelerated technological progress in fuel efficiency. I compare Japanese automakers with selected American and European automakers in a difference-in-differences framework. The estimation results provide strong evidence for induced technological change: conditional on other vehicle attributes and the production cost, the regulatory tightening induced at least a 3–5% improvement in the average Japanese vehicle's fuel economy relative to a counterfactual case with no regulatory change, an effect which would have taken at least 4–7 years to be realized with no pressure from fuel economy regulations or fuel prices. In internal combustion engines, the performance of the air intake system is the head of basic inputs that enable the engine to operate efficiently. The most important element of the air intake system in internal combustion engines is the intake manifold. The intake manifold, is an indispensable part of vehicles in internal combustion & hybrid motors that send enough air to the combustion chambers to carry out combustion at each cycle of the engine, in order to perform the desired function of the engine. As with every aspect of automotive industry, the production of intake manifolds is changing rapidly in response to the changing and increasing needs throughout the historical process, with the changing and differentiated production methods throughout motor vehicles and the development of production technologies. In this study, the effects of the developing technological processes on the production processes of the intake manifold, the innovations it provides and the information, about where these technological developments can carry the intake manifold production in the future, are compiled. • We combine the theories of conspicuous consumption and diffusion of innovation. • We posit that conspicuous diffusion improves weaknesses in each of the theories. • Conspicuous diffusion is then applied to electric vehicle diffusion in the Nordics. • Conspicuous diffusion explains previous failures and successes of electric vehicles. • We conclude with novel implications for electric vehicles and diffusion studies. This paper explores how conceptions of luxury and status affect the manner in which a relatively novel technology—an electric vehicle— diffuses across societies. To do so, it combines Veblen's notion of conspicuous consumption and Roger's diffusion of innovation by proposing a new theoretical variation, which we term "conspicuous diffusion." The paper sketches natural connections between the two theories, namely how conspicuous consumption relates to technological and societal development, and how diffusion of innovation is intrinsically connected to status. In combining these approaches, we hypothesize that the success of an innovation is guided by its adherence to the canons of conspicuousness and conspicuous value, which it loses as the innovation diffuses across the population. To illustrate the explanatory power of conspicuous diffusion, we examine the status of electric vehicles in the Nordic region, based on original data from multiple methods, including expert interviews and focus groups. We find that conspicuous diffusion can explain previous failures and current successes of electric vehicle diffusion patterns. This paper discusses the emergence of blockchain technology in the energy sector in the light of ongoing energy market transformation. The study builds on literature research and expert interviews, and provides insights into the future energy landscape in the context of the blockchain advent. While the interviewees acknowledge the great, though disruptive, potential of blockchain technology for the primary activities in the electricity sector, there is agreement that inflexible regulatory frameworks impose the biggest challenge. The widest impact which blockchain technology will have in the short-term will be in electric vehicle integration, while in the long-term blockchain will enable peer-to-peer microgrids. The role that the blockchain will play, though, relies mainly on the business model innovation in energy. While a growing body of literature discusses specific blockchain applications and solutions in an advanced technological set-up, this paper presents a holistic picture of the blockchain applicability in the energy sector and thematises this very powerful and versatile technology against the background of two emerging economies: South Africa and Russia. • The electricity sector is testing the blockchain technology in an attempt to support the decentralisation of energy production, while the oil & gas sector uses the blockchain for business process optimisation. • The near-term outlook is mainly associated with the blockchain-enabled electric vehicle integration. Innovations in the field of telecommunications and technological development in information processing affect the provision of public services. One of the main priorities of governments is to achieve greater efficiency in the provision of public services and e-government is one of several measures implemented. Our study aims to determine how e-government and efficiency affects the provision of public services in general, and also by functions. We apply a different model to calculate efficiency of the provision of public services and by function. Our empirical analysis, which included correlation and multiple linear regressions, was applied in 2012-2014 for a single cross-section of 35 economies. The results show a significant relationship between e-government and efficiency. Furthermore, we obtain a significant relation between Online Services, Telecommunication Infrastructure and Human Capital with efficiency in the provision of public services. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Along with the alarming technological advance in recent decades, the accuracy of topographic data acquisition has become an increasingly accessible task, benefiting from innovations like LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) and UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). The cost reduction of these technologies was significant, because airplanes and helicopter flights were no longer necessary and drones currently have a very high potential for accurate and high resolution photogrammetry. The article looks at the phenomenon of the new entrants surpassing the market establishers in China's and the USA's electric vehicle marketplace. Most of the current studies focus on the leading companies having first moves on early technology adoption. Based on the results from the expert interviews and literature review, we compared cases from both China and the USA. The study constructed and validated a framework for a theoretical model for the innovation drive, the technological mode and the business model to explain underlining driving factors and mechanisms where new entrants are taking the lead in the electric vehicle market.
