Work engagement in oncology nurses is crucial for improving nurse practice and healthcare outcomes. The study aimed to define and understand work engagement from the perspective of experienced oncology clinical nurses. This qualitative descriptive study used purposive sampling to select 15 oncology nurses from a University Oncology Hospital in Türkiye. Participants had at least 3 years of experience and volunteered for the study. Data were collected through face‐to‐face interviews using a "Nurse Data Form" and a "Semi‐structured Interview Form." The analysis identified six themes and 12 sub‐themes. These themes include a sense of engagement, personal resources, organizational resources, professional resources, elements specific to the nature of oncology, and areas that need improvement. Sub‐themes indicate that facilitators of work engagement included altruism, job satisfaction, teamwork, and nursing competencies. Nurses may require assistance in caring for patients with high psychosocial demands, long‐term care or repetitive hospitalizations. In conclusion, nurses emphasized the facilitating and challenging factors in work engagement in the oncology clinics. This study suggests that oncology nurses' work engagement can be enhanced by empowering them professionally, individually, and organizationally. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This document is a research study that examines the effects of coronavirus anxiety and intolerance of uncertainty on cyberchondria during the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey. The study collected data from 402 individuals through online surveys and found a positive correlation between cyberchondria severity, coronavirus anxiety, and intolerance of uncertainty. The study suggests that sharing accurate information and providing mental support can help prevent cyberchondria during a pandemic. However, the study has limitations, such as the online data collection method and the cross-sectional design. Ethical approval was obtained for the study, and the document includes a list of references related to cyberchondria and COVID-19. [Extracted from the article]

This study aimed to examine the effects of holistic nursing competence on work engagement, self-reflection and insight in nurses. This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 309 nurses working in Turkey. Data were collected using the "Descriptive Information Form", "Holistic Nursing Competence Scale (HNCS)", "Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES)", and "Self-Reflection and Insight Scale (SRIS)". Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used to analyze the data. We found that the HNCS had a moderate positive relationship (r = 0.411, p < 0.05) with the UWES, and a weak positive relationship (r = 0.324, p < 0.05) with the SRIS. In the model established by multiple regression analysis, the effect of the HNCS, age, marital status, position, and performing the profession willingly on work engagement explained 33.7% of the variance. In another established model, the effect of the HNCS, gender, and having children on self-reflection and insight explained 11.5% of the variance. Our findings revealed the effect of holistic competence on nurses' positive attitudes about their work engagement and self-reflection in practice. We recommended developing awareness-based programs for nurses to increase their holistic nursing competence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Bu çalışmada, koronavirüs (COVID-19) tedavisi tamamlanmış bireylerde travma sonrası büyümeye ilişkin deneyimlerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada amaçlı örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmış 18 yaş üzerinde, COVID 19 tanısı alan ve tedavisi tamamlanan, araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden bireylerle derinlemesine bireysel görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma kriterlerini karşılayan 16 bireyle (22-45 yaş) çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, fenomenolojik niteliksel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Veriler, COVID-19 yayılmasını önlemek amacıyla internet tabanlı konferans görüşme programları üzerinden (Zoom, Google Meeting, Skype vb.) toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde tematik analiz yönteminden yararlanılmıştır. Nitel verilerin analizi sonucunda “COVID-19 Bütüncül Etkileri” ve “Travma Sonrası Büyüme” olmak üzere iki kategori elde edilmiştir. COVID-19 bütüncül etkileri kategorisinde üç tema ve beş alt tema, travma sonrası büyüme kategorisinde ise iki tema ve sekiz alt tema belirlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, hastalığı deneyimleyen bireylerin yaşama bakış açılarında, kendilik algılarında pozitif değişim geliştiği, ilişkilerinin güçlendiği, süreç boyunca etrafındaki destek kaynaklarının bireyleri olumlu yönde etkilediği belirlenmiştir. Araştırma, COVID-19 hastalarının psikolojik yönden büyümelerini kolaylaştırıcı etmenlere yönelik müdahalelerin planlanması ve uygulanması açısından önemli deneyimler sunmaktadır., In this study, it is aimed that the experiences of post-traumatic growth in individuals treated for coronavirus (COVID -19) are examined. In this research, in-depth individual interviews were carried out with those over the age of 18 years old who had been diagnosed and completed treatment for COVID 19 and agreed to participate to the research. The research was conducted with 16 individuals (22-45 years) who met the research criteria. A phenomenological qualitative research method was used for this study. The data was gathered over the internet-based teleconferencing programs (Zoom, Google Meeting, Skype, etc.) in order to prevent the spread of COVID -19. The thematic analysis method was used in the data analysis. In consequence of the qualitative data analysis, two categories were obtained as "The Holistic Effects of COVID-19" and "Post Traumatic Growth." In the category of the holistic effects of COVID-19, three themes and five subordinate themes were established, and in the category of post-traumatic growth, two themes and eight subordinate themes were established. As a result of the research, it was established that the perspectives of individuals who experienced this sickness on life and their self-perception were positively developed, their relationships were strengthened, and the support resources surrounding them positively affected them during the period. The research presents significant experiences with regard to planning and implementing interventions aimed at the factors that promote psychological growth in COVID-19 patients.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nursing students' self-compassion and multidimensional perfectionism levels and the factors that influence them. Methods: This descriptive study included 195 nursing students attending a nursing faculty in Turkey. Data was collected with a student data form, the Self-Compassion Scale and the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale. The Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney U, Dunn Z tests and Pearson's correlation analysis were used for data analysis. Results: The nursing students' total self-compassion median score was 3.28, which means a moderate level self-compassion (self-compassion scores: 1.0-2.5 is low, 2.5-3.5 is moderate, and 3.5-5.0 is high). The subscale median scores from self-compassion were: 3.00 for self-kindness, 3.60 for self-judgement. 3.00 for common humanity, 3.25 for isolation, 3.25 for mindfulness and 3.50 for over-identification. Self judgement had the highest score. Common humanity and self-kindness had the lowest scores. The students' multidimensional perfectionism subscales median scores were 72.00 for self-oriented perfectionism, 62.00 for others-oriented perfectionism and 53.00 for socially-prescribed perfectionism. Self-oriented perfectionism had the highest and socially-prescribed perfectionism had the lowest scores on the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale. The first-year students' overall self-compassion, isolation and over identification scores were higher than those of the third-year students. The socially-prescribed perfectionism scores of the students who were in their third year of study, who had three or more siblings and who perceived their mothers as high level perfectionists were higher than others. There was a statistically significant negative correlation between the self-compassion and perfectionism subscales. Conclusion: This study determined that nursing students had a moderate level of total self-compassion. The total self-compassion levels of nursing students increased as their self-oriented, others-oriented and socially-prescribed perfectionism levels decreased. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the perceived social support and psychological well-being levels of nursing students. Methods: The sample of this descriptive study included 300 nursing students in the 2015-2016 academic year. As data collection tools, an introductory identification form, the Scale of Perceived Social Support and the Psychological Well-Being (Short Form) Scale were used in this study. This study used the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests, Pearson's correlation analysis and regression analysis to analyze data. Results: Of the perceived social support subscales, the support of a special person (23.00) had the highest median, and the lowest median was the support of a friend (21.00). According to the psychological well-being scale, positive relationships with others had the highest median (5.43), and the autonomy subscale had the lowest median value (4.43). This study found that third-year students had higher scores for family (KW=8.37, p=0.039), friend (KW=13.29, p=0.004) and special person (KW=20.14, p=0.000) support, and that fourth-year students had higher medians for personal development (KW=13.30, p=0.004) and positive relationships with others (KW=7.87, p=0.049) than firstyear students. A positive relationship was determined between the perceived support levels of nursing students and their psychological well-being (p<0.01). Conclusion: This study determined that the perceived social support and psychological well-being of higher-year students were better. It also found that as nursing students' perceived social support levels increase their psychological well-being also increases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

NURSING , *INTERPERSONAL relations , *SENSITIVITY (Personality trait) , *COGNITION disorders , *SOCIAL perception - Abstract
Interpersonal sensitivity means being able to display appropriate behaviors and to perceive others accurately. However, if it is not used at an optimum level, it can cause problems in interpersonal relationships. High interpersonal sensitivity leads to feelings of inadequacy and humiliation, feeling unimportant and worthless and mistreated by others. It also leads to self-deprecation and over-monitoring of behaviors to reduce the risk of public rejection and criticism. When interpersonal sensitivity is very intense and makes the person become tender, it causes one to make mistakes when assessing and judging events and causes feelings of inadequacy in individuals. With increased interpersonal sensitivity, stereotyped thoughts are at the forefront. These thoughts lead to handicaps in performing roles and making decisions, difficulties in social relationships, disability in achieving goals, social withdrawal, and conflict. Becoming aware of cognitive distortions and stereotyped thoughts and displacing them with realistic ones can be helpful for keeping interpersonal sensitivity at an optimum level. Supporting self-esteem, focusing on individual successes, defining feasible goals, focusing on the strong personal characteristics, and providing effective use of social support systems are methods that can be used to decrease interpersonal sensitivity.
