Abstract

El objetivo de un Presupuesto por Resultados es mejorar la eficiencia y eficacia del gasto público, utilizando la información de desempeño para la toma de decisiones presupuestarias, es por ello que la investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre el presupuesto por resultados y la gestión gerencial en la Municipalidad Distrital de Ascensión. La metodología utilizada fue de nivel descriptivo-correlacional y diseño no experimental-transversal, se empleó la técnica de la encuesta, cuyo cuestionario fue aplicado a los 55 trabajadores nombrados en la Municipalidad Distrital de Ascensión. Los resultados mostraron que la relación entre ambas variables se vincula positiva y significativamente, contando con una intensidad del 79,2% de acuerdo al coeficiente de Spearman, concluyendo que a medida que los presupuestos por resultados sean bien ejecutados, la gestión gerencial de la municipalidad distrital de Ascensión será más eficiente, direccionando los fondos hacia la solución de problemas que incidan el bienestar social.

Abstract

El desarrollo de los recursos humanos es un aspecto crucial de cualquier organización, que implica la gestión y el desarrollo de los empleados para garantizar que tengan las habilidades y la motivación para contribuir al éxito de la empresa. El objetivo del artículo es determinar de qué manera se relaciona el desarrollo de recursos humanos y los indicadores de desempeño del personal de la Universidad Nacional de Huancavelica, año 2022. La metodología es investigación aplicada, correlacional; la población es el total de personal docente y administrativo de la Universidad Nacional de Huancavelica, el muestreo no probabilístico e intencionado. La técnica de recolección de información fue encuesta y el instrumento un cuestionario. Los resultados indican la presencia de una asociación entre las dos variables subsistema de desarrollo de recursos humanos e indicadores de desempeño del personal de la Universidad Nacional de Huancavelica, Año 2022. Se concluye que, el coeficiente de correlación hallada es de rho=0,546** que tiene asociado una probabilidad p.=0,000

Abstract

Lignin, a complex phenolic polymer crucial for plant structure, is mostly used as fuel but it can be harnessed for environmentally friendly applications. This article explores ozonation as a green method for lignin extraction from lignocellulosic biomass, aiming to uncover the benefits of the extracted lignin. A pilot-scale ozonation reactor was employed to extract lignin from Miscanthus giganteus (a grass variety) and vine shoots (a woody biomass). The study examined the lignin extraction and modification of the fractions and identified the generation of phenolic and organic acids. About 48 % of lignin was successfully extracted from both biomass types. Phenolic monomers were produced, vine shoots yielding fewer monomers than Miscanthus giganteus. Ozonation generated homogeneous lignin oligomers, although their molecular weight decreased during ozonation, with vine shoot oligomers exhibiting greater resistance to ozone. Extracted fractions were stable at 200 °C, despite the low molecular weight, outlining the potential of these phenolic fractions.

Abstract

The determination of sulcus-to-sulcus measurements has been challenging due to the limitations of current approaches. Ultrasound methods are highly operator-dependent and require extensive training, while traditional optical devices cannot visualize structures posterior to the iris. However, modern optical anterior segment coherence tomography (AS-OCT) devices are changing this paradigm by identifying some anatomical landmarks posterior to the iris. This study evaluates the reproducibility of optical sulcus measurements in the context of sizing a novel accommodative intraocular lens (IOL). Preoperative OCT scans of patients scheduled for cataract surgery were analyzed regarding the dimensions of the ciliary sulcus using a custom scan method with a clinically available anterior segment optical coherence tomographer. Measurements were compared between two different readers, and various derived parameters were compared. The measurements by both readers were highly correlated (R2 > 0.96), and their agreement was excellent (mean difference 0.02 mm with 95% limits of agreement from −0.11 to 0.15 mm). In contrast, the sulcus diameter measurement did not agree well with automatically calculated values, such as the anterior chamber width or white-to-white. This leads to the conclusion that modern swept-source AS-OCT measurements of the ciliary sulcus dimensions are feasible, reproducible, and may be a clinically useful tool. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The VEMoS-AXL system is a new optical biometer based on spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) that has been tested in terms of intrasession repeatability and compared with a swept-source optical coherence tomography biometer (SS-OCT), which is recognized as the gold standard for the performance of an agreement analysis. A biometric analysis was performed three consecutive times in 120 healthy eyes of 120 patients aged between 18 and 40 years with the SD-OCT system, and afterwards, a single measurement was obtained with the SS-OCT system. Within-subject standard deviations were 0.004 mm, 4.394 µm, and 0.017 mm for axial length (AL), central corneal thickness (CCT), and anterior chamber depth (ACD) measures obtained with the SD-OCT biometer, respectively. The agreement between devices was good for AL (limits of agreement, LoA: −0.04 to 0.03 mm) and CCT (LoA: −4.36 to 14.38 µm), whereas differences between devices were clinically relevant for ACD (LoA: 0.03 to 0.21 mm). In conclusion, the VEMoS-AXL system provides consistent measures of anatomical parameters, being most of them interchangeable with those provided by the SS-OCT-based gold standard.

Abstract

La quimioterapia es el tratamiento más utilizado en los pacientes oncológicos, siendo causante de efectos secundarios en el organismo. A nivel ocular y visual, la evidencia científica es bastante limitada. El objetivo principal del presente estudio es evaluar el estado visual y ocular de pacientes oncológicos tratados con quimioterapia, comparándolos con un grupo control. La muestra fue de 20 pacientes (10 oncológicos y 10 control) a los cuales se les realizaron una anamnesis y pruebas optométricas. No se obtuvieron diferencias significativas entre ambos grupos, excepto en el síntoma de sequedad ocular. En relación con el resto de medidas, el grupo oncológico presentó peores valores, principalmente en la acomodación y morfología del cristalino, tanto en pruebas objetivas como subjetivas. Se podría relacionar con la debilidad muscular secundaria al tratamiento. En conclusión, la quimioterapia parece afectar múltiples parámetros visuales, aunque se requieren futuros estudios que lo demuestren.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the nutritional quality and digestibility of proteins in two red seaweed species, Gelidium corneum and Gracilaropsis longissima, through the application of in vitro gastrointestinal digestions, and evaluate the impact of two consecutive processing steps, extrusion and compression moulding, to produce food snacks. The protein content in both seaweeds was approximately 16 %, being primarily located within the cell walls. Both species exhibited similar amino acid profiles, with aspartic and glutamic acid being most abundant. However, processing impacted their amino acid profiles, leading to a significant decrease in labile amino acids like lysine. Nevertheless, essential amino acids constituted 35-36 % of the total in the native seaweeds and their processed products. Although the protein digestibility in both seaweed species was relatively low (<60 %), processing, particularly extrusion, enhanced it by approximately 10 %. Interestingly, the effect of the different processing steps on the digestibility varied between the two species. This difference was mainly attributed to compositional and structural differences. G. corneum exhibited increased digestibility with each processing step, while G. longissima reached maximum digestibility after extrusion. Notably, changes in the amino acid profiles of the processed products affected adversely the protein nutritional quality, with lysine becoming the limiting amino acid. These findings provide the basis for developing strategies to enhance protein quality in these seaweed species, thereby facilitating high-quality food production with potential applications in the food industry.

Abstract

There is extensive literature concerning the use of ICT and its relationship with academic performance; however, the results are not conclusive due to the difference obtained in empirical studies. The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between ICT skills and the academic performance of English students in a Peruvian educational institution. A quantitative, cross-sectional, correlational study on a sample of 260 high school students of the English subject was performed, using a questionnaire consisting of three dimensions and thirty-three items. The questionnaire's Cronbach's alpha values were 0.935, 0.947, and 0.950 for the dimensions of information management, communication management, and portable technology management, respectively. This research identifies the theory that supports the study on ICT skills and academic performance, as well as the type of association among these variables. This research represents a novel effort to evaluate the relationship between the use of ICT and academic performance, specifically in English as a subject in Peru. It found a significant and strong correlation among ICT skills and academic performance (r = 0.910, p = 0.001). It also found significant and strong correlations between the information management dimension and academic performance (r = 0.955; p = 0.001); between the communication management dimension and academic performance (r = 0.838; p = 0.001); and between the portable technology management dimension and academic performance (r = 0.799; p = 0.001).
