Abstract

In this paper, the Fisher information (FI), relevant to m-generalized order statistics (m-GOSs) and their concomitants of the shape-parameter of the Sarmanov family of bivariate distributions, is investigated. In addition, we study the concomitants of m-GOSs from this family. Furthermore, we look at how those concomitants were distributed collectively. The FI contained in the scale and shape parameters of the exponential and power function distributions, respectively, in concomitants of m-GOSs is obtained. A study of the asymptotic behavior of the concomitants of ordinary order statistics is also provided. Some versatile applications for this study are offered. 37. Concomitants of Generalized Order Statistics from Bivariate Cambanis Family: Some Information Measures

Abstract

In this paper, we study the concomitants of m-generalized order statistics (m-GOS) from the bivariate Cambanis family as an extension of several recent papers. This study can also be applied to the model of m-dual generalized order statistics (m-DGOS) as a parallel model of m-GOS. Some information measures, namely the Shannon entropy, Kullback-Leibler (KL) distance, and Fisher information number (FIN) for the concomitants of m-GOS, are derived. Furthermore, the joint distribution of concomitants of m-GOS for this family is studied. Besides, some useful recurrence relations between moments of concomitants are obtained. Moreover, the ordinary order statistics (OOS) and an important subclass of sequential order statistics (SOS) as subclasses of m-GOS, as well as the progressive type II censored order statistics (POS) as a more general subclass of GOS, are separately discussed. Finally, an application of these results is given for bivariate generalized exponential distribution.

38. Impact of mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist in renal transplant patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

Abstract

Background: Mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) antagonism can stop the occurrence of acute kidney injury induced by ischemia/reperfusion (IR) in pig and rodent and pig models. However, there are controversies regarding MR antagonist use in renal transplant patients to attenuate IR injury. We aim to perform this study to build evidence regarding benefits of MR antagonist use in renal transplant patients. Methods: We searched four authentic databases during August 2019. We included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) which compared MR antagonists versus control in renal transplant patients. Data were extracted from eligible studies and pooled in a meta-analysis model using RevMan software. Our primary outcome was serum creatinine. Our secondary outcomes were serum potassium, serum aldosterone, urinary heat shock protein 72 (Hsp72), and 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG). Results: Four RCTs with 167 patients were included in our analysis. We found that MR antagonists were significantly superior to control group in decreasing serum creatinine after removal of heterogeneity (MD = − 0.23, 95% CI [− 0.44, − 0.02], p = 0.04). Control group was superior to MR antagonists in serum potassium and aldosterone respectively, (MD = 0.28, 95% CI [0.17, 0.38], p < 0.00001), (MD = 33.08, 95% CI [28.61, 37.54], p < 00001). MR antagonists were significantly associated with reduction in Urinary Hsp72, and Urinary 8-OHdG respectively (MD = − 3.08, 95% CI [− 5.45, − 0.71], p = 0.01), (MD = − 0.24, 95% CI [− 0.40, −0.09], p = 0.002). Conclusion: Although an improvement in serum creatinine and urinary Hsp72 and 8-OHdG, as an expression of renoprotection induced by MR antagonists, was observed in kidney transplanted recipients, the different designs of the 4 studies limit the meaningful of this conclusion. Thus, more powered RCTs are warranted.

Abstract

Background: Many drugs are prescribed in relieving acute migraine attacks, we aim to compare metoclopramide with other antimigraine drugs. Methods: We searched online databases like PubMed, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and Web of Science till June 2022 for RCTs that compared metoclopramide alone with placebo or active drugs. The main outcomes were the mean change in headache score and complete headache relief. The secondary outcomes were the rescue medications need, side effects, nausea and recurrence rate. We qualitatively reviewed the outcomes. Then, we performed the network meta-analyses (NMAs) when it was possible. which were done by the Frequentist method using the MetaInsight online software. Results: Sixteen studies were included with a total of 1934 patients: 826 received metoclopramide, 302 received placebo, and 806 received other active drugs. Metoclopramide was effective in reducing headache outcomes even for 24 h. The intravenous route was the most chosen route in the included studies and showed significant positive results regarding headache outcomes; however, the best route whether intramuscular, intravenous, or suppository was not compared in the previous studies. Also, both 10 and 20 mg doses of metoclopramide were effective in improving headache outcomes; however, there was no direct comparison between both doses and the 10 mg dose was the most frequently used dosage. In NMA of headache change after 30 min or 1 h, metoclopramide effect came after granisetron, ketorolac, chlorpromazine, and Dexketoprofen trometamol. Only granisetron's effect was significantly higher than metoclopramide's effect which was only significantly higher than placebo and sumatriptan. In headache-free symptoms, only prochlorperazine was non-significantly higher than metoclopramide which was higher than other medications and showed significantly higher effects only with placebo. In rescue medication, metoclopramide's effect was only non-significantly lower than prochlorperazine and chlorpromazine while its effect was higher than other drugs and showed higher significant effects only than placebo and valproate. In the recurrence rate, studies showed no significant difference between metoclopramide and other drugs. Metoclopramide significantly decreased nausea more than the placebo. Regarding side effects, metoclopramide showed a lower incidence of mild side effects than pethidine and chlorpromazine and showed a higher incidence of mild side effects than placebo, dexamethasone, and ketorolac. The reported extrapyramidal symptoms with metoclopramide were dystonia or akathisia. Conclusion: A dose of 10 mg IV Metoclopramide was effective in relieving migraine attacks with minimal side effects. Compared to other active drugs, it only showed a lower significant effect compared with granisetron regarding headache change while it showed significantly higher effects only with placebo in both rescue medication needs and headache-free symptoms and valproate in only rescue medication need. Abstract

In this work, we reveal some distributional traits of concomitants of order statistics (COSs) arising from the extended Farlie–Gumbel–Morgenstern (FGM) bivariate distribution, which was developed and studied in recent work. The joint distribution and product moments of COSs for this family are discussed. Moreover, some useful recurrence relations between single and product moments of concomitants are obtained. In addition, the asymptotic behavior of the concomitant's rank for order statistics (OSs) is studied. The information measures, differential entropy, Kullback–Leibler (KL) distance, Fisher information number (FIN), and cumulative past inaccuracy (CPI) are theoretically and numerically studied.
